My Dad told me that I wasn't good enough, that I would never amount to anything and that I was not worth the difficulty of raising me, throughout my life until I could move far away. 1500 miles.

      Hi @suzanneharrisonwilkey3754,
I'm truly sorry to hear about the painful words you experienced from your dad. It's incredibly tough to carry those words with you, but please remember, his words do not define your worth or your potential. Moving 1500 miles away must have been a significant step in seeking peace and creating your path, and it shows incredible strength and courage on your part.
It's important to surround yourself with people who see your value and support your growth. Remember, you are more than good enough, and you have the power to achieve anything you set your mind to. Your worth is inherent, and you deserve to be treated with love and respect.

I think self doubt occurs not only within the family, but with peers and teachers. This experience seems to be typical of most humans as though it is a " rite of passage" as we grow up. Low self esteem has taken me to many, many years of alcohol abuse and a lot of inner work to finally come to realize that I am a loveable, capable and worth while human being. Thank you for sharing this confirmation of the experience of feeling that we aren't good enough.

I really liked thinking about the confirmation bias/self-fulfilling prophecy regarding childhood, and how those toxic thoughts truly have an affect on a child's psychological health, and lead a child down a dark path. I try to think hard about those moments back when they were happening to me (feelings of shame about something for example, not good enough/not worthy, which i often felt in my family structure ) - perhaps the lack of boundaries, and eventually being bullied, even bringing it on myself in many cases); when I think about those moments, try to retrieve the memory of how I was feeling, I can clearly see how those toxic thoughts continue to grow into automatic negative thinking with time, and become self-fulfilling prophecies/confirmation bias or even leading to self-sabotaging behavior, and pattern/cycles are created "carousel of despair." As David suggested. It really makes sense!

      Hi @crookedzebrarecords8610,
It's wonderful to hear that you've found value in reflecting on the concepts of confirmation bias and self-fulfilling prophecies, especially in relation to childhood experiences. Recognising and understanding these patterns is a crucial step in resolving issues and transforming your thought processes. It's commendable that you're examining your past and identifying how these toxic thoughts have influenced your life, allowing you to break free from the "carousel of despair." My mother told me quite a few times she took me to a doctor as something is wrong with me. When I asked what, she never replied. 40 plus years later I told her I remembered her telling me that and she started looking uncomfortable and said she never said that. To this day the mind goes straight to this belief and causes such chaos in the body, feeling sick and stressed and worrying, which feeds itself. I'm Aware but it's hard. Thank you David 🌻

      Hi @noonespecial4171,
It sounds like you're carrying a heavy burden from the past, and it's understandable how such unresolved conversations with your mother could lead to discomfort and stress. Recognising the power these memories hold shows great self-awareness. It's important to remember that you have the ability to choose your present beliefs, which in turn can ease the chaos and bring peace to your body and mind. Continue to nurture this awareness, and gently guide yourself back to thoughts that affirm your well-being and worth. If you ever wish to discuss these experiences with others who understand, our Wu Wei Wisdom community could be a supportive place for you: facebook.com/groups/wuweiwisdomcommunity/.

Thank you both for another great session of insight and wisdom. You offer a logical system of dealing with issues that cause us (me) to be less than the most loving and open person we can be to ourselves. If we are unable to address the problems with the people who did not or would not help us mature, then we must do it for ourselves. This can be tough love if there is deep-seated doubt that we are inherently lovable, or if there is an unwillingness to go beyond that which is comfortable. The Wu Wei is really helping me work through much emotional history and baggage that is impeding my flow of peace and wonder at the universe. Journalling helps as does meditation and affirmations. We are never too old to restart the emotional journey we began years ago. Peace to you!

      Hi @nancypetrie5717,
Thank you sincerely for your thoughtful reflection and kind words. It's truly inspiring to hear how the principles of Wu Wei have been instrumental in helping you navigate through your emotional history and baggage, clearing the way for a flow of peace and wonder. Your recognition of the importance of addressing issues for oneself, especially when others are unable or unwilling to support your growth, underscores a powerful act of self-love and responsibility.
Your approach, incorporating journaling, meditation, and affirmations, is a beautiful testament to the multifaceted ways we can support our emotional healing and growth. It's a reminder that the journey towards self-discovery and inner peace is ongoing and that we possess the strength and resilience to face and transform our most profound challenges.
Indeed, we are always young enough to restart or to continue the emotional journey we began years ago. Every step taken in self-awareness, healing, and love is a step towards embracing our true selves and the beauty of the universe.

    • @WuWeiWisdom
      @WuWeiWisdom  8 місяців тому +1

      Hi @susans9014,
It's courageous of you to recognise the need to connect with and answer your inner child. This process can often bring up deep emotions, as it touches on the most vulnerable parts of ourselves. Listening to and comforting your inner child is a journey of patience, understanding, and self-compassion.
You can start by acknowledging your feelings without judgment. This is the voice of your Inner Child. Allow yourself to feel whatever comes up, knowing vulnerability's okay. You can answer your inner child by speaking to yourself as you would to a child you care deeply for-with kindness, love, and reassurance. You might say things like, "I hear you," "I'm here for you," or "It's okay to feel this way."
Writing a letter to your inner child can also be a powerful way to express understanding and compassion. In this letter, address the fears, hopes, and needs that your inner child might be holding onto. Reassure them that they are safe, loved, and worthy of care.
Remember, healing and comforting your inner child is a process that takes time. It's about building a relationship with yourself that's based on love and acceptance. Hi @allenbrague6079,
Thank you for sharing your perspective. It's important to recognize that everyone's journey and experiences are unique. While some challenges stem from childhood, others, as you've mentioned, can develop later in life through interactions with peers, societal pressures, or other external factors. Feeling diminished by others can be deeply hurtful, and it's a valid and significant experience that shapes one's sense of self and well-being.
Acknowledging these feelings and their impact is a crucial step towards understanding your own path and how you can move forward with strength and resilience. Remember, your worth is not defined by others' opinions or treatment but by your own intrinsic value and the qualities that you bring to the world.
If you're looking for support in navigating these feelings or wish to connect with others who may have had similar experiences, our FREE Wu Wei Wisdom community could offer you a space to share and find encouragement. My teacher abused me in the 2nd grade he called me a baboon and a Skunk. For the rest of the years i went to school al the girls called me Skunk.
Up to the 7th gradw in the gym room they attacked me n hurt me i ran out the school n never wnt back. He destroyed my life. Then the kids. Meanwhile i had a mom who wasnt qble to love me when im 25 she told me im sorry i wasnt able to love you. I knew she didnt care but had no clue there was no love
I paid her down payment so she could buy a house i bought her things she needed. But ahe had no love not a gug not a kiss. When she brushed my hair she yanked my head so bad.
The brush was hard plastic in the 60,she hit my back with the brush it broke in half. I went out the door n never cane home until the street lights were on. I went to grandmas house n sat at the table i did not talk grandma buttered two breads n. Gave me a big bowl of soup. I think if not for her id probably never eat . I do remember eating diner. Once there was chokolate milk i wanted it so bad i hid it behind the other food hope no one would find it. And i have to top it off truma from child molestsation. My moms brother molested me in his house. And at night men would come in my room n hurt me. I hid in the hole in the wall where we drop the dirty cloths the bad men didnt know about that. I fell asleep in the dirty cloth pile. I held my pee all night for fear.
You can fix me no one can. In my life i hated me so much i thought i was not good enough for any men so i just went with any man to see if he might love me which never happen. Three failed marriages.
