Like this car, thanks for making and sharing this video. I’d keep it all original and get it back to top condition. That pant can be corrected and rust repaired properly without a total repaint! Let me know when you’re ready to sell her…. I’ll give her a good home!
I love the car and it's so hard to find them original. I think if you keep it that way you'll be happy. Not everything has to be a hot rod. I would make it a reliable daily driver
i have a 74 Plymouth Gold Duster ...it was just the body but i found and bought a 360 that came outta of a 75 Dodge Dart im putting in it......love these cars...their GREAT
$230!!! Dude you stole it! Awesome car, I'd go with the plum crazy since there is a little body work. Hope all goes good with whatever you do. I would keep the slant six, they're indestructible and your wallet will thank you :-)
My first car was a 74 plymouth Duster Red with black vinyl roof. I blew up the slant 6 3 times. think the slant 6 worked better with the automatic trany.. I beleive the car was about $3100 USD. Thanks for sharing !
DUDE, $238.00 DOLLARS FOR THAT CAR IS A SWEET DEAL! I AM SO GLAD FOR YOU!!! ALSO ENVIOUS!!! I LIKE SPEED & PERFORMANCE SO, I WOULD ADD A V-8 BUT, THE PAINT, I WOULD KEEP IT ORIGINAL! ONLY STOCK ONCE! YOU COULD WRAP IT WITH A PLUM PURPLE COLOR WRAP & MAINTAIN THE ORIGINAL PAINT! STRIP THE INTERIOR & CLEAN IT & ALLOW IT TO DRY AS YOU CLEAN THE CAB & TRUNK TO A FLAWLESS SHINE & ONLY THEN AFTER CLEANING ALL INTERIOR PARTS WOULD I REINSTALL THE INTERIOR!!! ID LOOK FOR A USED HELLCAT OR DEMON DRIVETRAIN OR SIMPLY A "LS" MOTOR
that leaning tower of power is pretty indestructible... there are also people who have done turbo kits on them, I like that just to do something a little different!
Nice Clifford Rice: I have a 1974 as well that I found in a barn shed in Fruita, Colorado in 2012. I stuck and modified a low mile roller cammed 360 out of a 1990 Ram. (LA-360's were roller cammed from factory from 1988-1992, Magnum 360's were all roller cammed). I also got a hold of a A999 Automatic transmission (A904 transmission on steroids and wide ratio gears), rebuilt it, beefed it up. I've been daily driving mine for several years now. MPG's isn't too bad 15-17 mpg. (once I get overdrive with the A500 I'm rebuilding I should get it into the 20's easily). And yes do not paint the engine bay black. I did that once, and at every car show nearly half the Mopar crowd would tell me to paint it the body color or: "You must been a Chevy owner at one time". (which I did, but only 1 Chevy, I've had 3 dodge trucks before), but at least they were cool about it. I've learned a lot about mine when I put mine together since then, if you have any questions about what performance route to take let me know, I can provide what tidbits of info I have.
Just bought a 74 360 Duster from a neighbor unfortunately the 360 is long gone in its place is a 318 2bbl. It will be getting a 340 or 360 crate next spring.
Why don't you pressure wash the engine bay & the underside of that Duster? It's in nice condition & deserves to be preserved!!!! Just like when people go mudding, the mud rust out everything, the dirt layer from the flood will destroy that car! Please pressure wash everything & wipe it all down with a rag & bucket, Get her shining!!!
If you were to do an engine swap, you wouldn't have to change the k frame. Schumacher makes motor mounts that allow you to swap without changing the k frame. You should check out >>> classicindustries.com
Nice Duster, your car, your call but man there only original once.. And please don't paint the engine bay black that's just not a MoPar thing... Unless the whole car is black
jbmopar1971 why is everyone so against that. I see it that on a lot old cars going to car shows, engine bays are always black and i always like it. In my opinion it's makes the engine stand out, when it's painted up and some chrome on it. Then again that's my opinion.
Clifford Rice like I mentioned, your call, your call. It all depends on what you want. From what I know of in the mopar world the engine bay is the cars color, cause that's just how ma mopar made them. There are a bunch out there painted black, flat black, whatever and they do look cool, but it's kind of a telltale sign that someone who isn't keen on mopars might have done work on it. Is that bad? Not at all, but in my experiences there might be some other issues that someone who isn't as familiar with mopars might not have overlooked. And of course I'm not saying you, just in general. Yours is cooler in a way, history wise since it was your uncles, and you know the history of the car. That's why at least in your scenario it would be a shame to loose the history. Plus there was a time when A body's were dismissed since they're not usually big block or hemi cars, and that time is kinda gone. The next one is going to be the oddity of a slant 6 over another run at a "clone" car. 😃at the end of the day, you get to choose what you want to do, make it look how you want and what makes you happy. Many miles to you and your cool Duster! I can't wait to get my 71 back on the road this summer. First time in 20 years lol
I have had a few dusters the one I have now I've had it for 35 years it has a 318 that I built up like a 340 yes the six-cylinder motor is practically indestructible but its seriously under powered the 0 to 60 time is pathetic and dangerous
Leave it original that 225 is indistructable if the body was worse I’d say do a motor swap but the car is in good shape leave it and don’t paint engine bay that would look gay
Thank you look forward to more updates 😊

I've got a numbers matching 1970 340 duster. Love those old little cars with a V8 in them.
Love the old '73 bumper. Chrysler used up the last of the '73 bumpers on the early build '74's.
I love the car and it's so hard to find them original. I think if you keep it that way you'll be happy. Not everything has to be a hot rod. I would make it a reliable daily driver

When its all you have a bumper jack comes in real handy.
$230!!! Dude you stole it! Awesome car, I'd go with the plum crazy since there is a little body work. Hope all goes good with whatever you do. I would keep the slant six, they're indestructible and your wallet will thank you :-)
The cats awesome. I have 14 cats & they love walking all over my 75 Dodge Dart Sport & my 98 Dodge Ram Pickup. Nice video.

My wife loves that Purple color
love it . mopar or no car. keep it original.
My opinion is if it's so close to original keep it original. Once you start changing things you can't get original back.

I'm curious what you do with this car! looks great as it is, I check your videos now :)
My opinion...just clean it up really nice for now.....then take a good long look at what u have....then go from there
that leaning tower of power is pretty indestructible...
there are also people who have done turbo kits on them, I like that just to do something a little different!
My Opinion Exactly....
My opinion is if it's so close to original keep it original. Once you start changing things you can't get original back.

I'm not a chevy or gmc owner. Never owned one. Always been a ford guy .

Frist Wow, I had 1972 Duster slant 6. Later on I put a nasty 340 in it. very fast car. Rolled it over 4 1/2 times at Eddyville Dragway 1978
Add a 340 Cubic Inch V-8, and add a 4 Speed Automatic (727 Transmission), add Power Steering, & Power Brakes.
I feel samething about my car.
Much cleaner than mine but i have a big block.
What size are the back tires?
definitely v8 4speed. rear end to support. just clean the rest good. maybe new interior since flood
105 hp my first car was a 73 Plymouth Duster Slant6
Why is the lower half of the drivers side stripe missing?
Eddie McMullen because it is...it was like that when I got it.
traction bars on a slant six duster?
Fester Adams you must be referring to the shackers in the rear
What happened with this car?
I lost my 80 Corvette due to Harvey (it was sold at a Copart auction).

You should put a V8 in it and a bigger rearend in it

Check floor pans they rust out
Any inline motor will run forever
Just put a four barral on it bucket seats

Its just me but keep it original and make it a dayly driver nothing wrong with a inline 6.
The Engine bay is the same color as the car.... DON'T BLACK IT OUT MAN...
You can now buy 6 cyl to V8 conversion motor mounts, also the stick shift in the floor is a real plus and ups the value on these cars.
Hellcat engine, modern suspension, lowered, 18 inch wheels
race that green mustang in the neighbors carport
That's actually my mustang...lol
You make horse power out of that engine.
Restore it. Put in a V8. Should do the trick. Only cool thing is the four on the floor.
