Found out he was fired via an email? Who would want to work there?

If the towns people are smart, they will remove ALL town leaders in the next election and replace them with people who will stand for reinstatement of the fire departments Chief and Assistant Chief and the volunteers who served the community.

If a person who’s been at a job and is making too much money in their position. It’s time to let them go. Someone will gladly take the role for a third of what the previous person was making. It’s called Life. Deal with it

Well, when the town managers house catches fire and no one shows up, maybe the town manager will learn that firefighters are very important to have

They wouldn’t bow to the mayor, town manager and chief of police.. it’s the “good’ol boy” system and they needed a “yes man” for the job.. So they hired a man that cannot pass a physical fitness test, that isn’t certified for any duties of a fireman and I’m scared to think about him handling the daily ins & outs, much less the budget!! Scary for our little town!

If the town pays someone full time and provides benefits they have much more control over that person.
Two part timers who are doing it because they CARE are much more likely to push back on matters of funding and public safety.
      This is about control.

Who is the fire chief personal buddies with the city manager? You should investigate it because it would be a conflict of interest

The other firefighters did not “walk off the job”, they were all put out of a job.

They're volunteers. They walked off the job. Can't say that I blame them somebody meddling around screwing things up. That's what happened when you take away trusted leaders and introduce politics

in minnesota about thirty years ago a number of cities tried the combined police/fire system. the guys hated it. they had to carry fire gear in the squads. after calls they had to clean up TWO sets of equipment, and patrol time suffered. then they caught on to all these fires starting just before robberies took place. in the end they never really saved any money or improved response times.

Usually the problem is with the Town Manager or Village Administrator or City Administrator. These individuals seem to think they run the Municipality, and there’s a disconnect between Departments and Elected Officials.

We have had issues with our mayor, council members, city attorney, and former city manager engaging in coverups for the last 4 years. The city manager fired our dedicated, loyal, long-term, well-respected fire chief of over 30 years 1) so that his (city manager's) wrongdoings would not be discovered because the fire chief was well versed in the policies/procedures/protocols of the city and was questioning what the city manager was doing 2) so that he could hire his friend to be the new fire chief, whom he knew would remain loyal to him (the current fire chief cannot do the job and their have been multiple complaints against him). The mayor/council allowed this because they had to keep the coverups going. City manager left after 3 years and has gone on to another town. In order to keep the coverups going, the city didn't even post anything about the mayor's seat and 3 council seats being up for election this year. Just another way to keep someone else from coming in and finding out what they've been doing the last 4 years. Dirty politics at its best!
