I remembered playing this game when I was a little girl, I sucked at it, I couldn't pass the parrot boss, but I was still addictive to the game, but for years after I just couldn't remember the name of this game! It was lost in my brain. It was driving me nuts!!! All I could remember was a rocket in space, and a tall "carnival" looking lady boss! Everyone thought I was crazy and I must of been dreaming ... Thank God for U Tube, I am reunited again with my most favourite game as a child! I don't think I could of EVER remembered the title though, so lucky I just searched for "tall lady boss in space super Nintendo game".... That worked!
Seems like you played the Famicom/NES version. Rika (the stage 2 mid-boss) is a bit more... suggestive, in this version (as well as the Arcade, PC-Engine, and Game Boy versions), shall we say.

Et puis, il y a eu Parodius...Tellement génial, dans son univers, ses musiques, son délire, que j'ai accepté sans broncher d'y jouer et d'y rejouer encore, jusqu'à ce que j'arrive à le finir. Un chef d'œuvre, tout simplement 😊 !
Played this as a kid, then 25 years later I random heard the original Sabre Dance and spent the next week trying to figure out where I knew it from. Such a memorable game.
As soon as I hear that music start at 6:22 I can never, in a million years, stop a smile from coming on my face, because I know exactly what is coming next: Chichibinta Rika-Sama
I grew up playing this, i used to love it and each time i went further and further it made me feel like a pro xD, now i know i didn't even get past half the game. Plot twist: i still have it 😁
Played the 'Utimte Parodius, for the SNES,' quite a bit, usually get stuck at same point. Nice to be able watch someone else playing so I can watch and enjoy listening to that fantastic music score again, the rest of the game has great graphics too.

I would imagine you're not alone. The Gradius/Salamander/Parodius games can be a complete nightmare if you don't know everything that's going to happen.

No. The arcade version was released on the Playstation and Sega Saturn on Gokujou Parodius Da! Deluxe Pack, and on the PSP for Parodius Portable. All of my runs were emulated, however. You can find a link to the emulator I used in all of the descriptions.
If someone would use the SA-1 chip to fix the slowdown in this game then it would easily be one of thee greatest shmups on SNES. Even with the slowdown it's still awesome, but it would just be cool to see it running in all its glory.
I don't recall this game having that much slowdown (at least, when compared to Gradius III, Gokujou Parodius, or Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius). I'm also not sure how playable this game would be without whatever slowdown there is

Nope, the Japanese just had great imaginations, and it made for some fantastic games. Doesn't hurt that their moral standards aren't as uptight as those of us in the western world when it comes to what they were able to get away with putting into their video games.

In the arcade original she was dressed the same way as this SFC port. She is a giant Vegas style showgirl dancer, and it is reflective in the way she is dressed here, only the FC version changed things likely due to technical limitations of the Famicom, they kept the sprite simpler not by choice. Hell even the Game Boy port she is dressed like she is here, as well as the PC Engine, PS1, Saturn, and PSP versions as well. Changing her outfit to the Uncle Sam outfit was not what Konami intended to do, they kept this port as close to the arcade as they could.

it runs very well tbh, tad of slowdown here and there but 99% of the time it's full speed
