The built in levelling ball head is such a genius addition. And that definitely seems to be the easiest and quickest design I've ever seen for inverting the centre column, which is something I've never done with past tripods, because it's just too much hassle. For my needs, I think I like the TC7 the best, for its pure simplicity. Set-up time with that beast would be a dream!

Reviews often focus on one model and it is clear someone has bought that and therefore, could well be a little biased!
The ultimate review that we the viewers need, is to be able to see a range of models side-by-side, with measurements and the pros and cons described clearly and without bias.
This is that review. All fitted neatly into 10 mins. They will sell more from this demo than any advert they will ever make. Thanks for posting.

I picked up the iFootage monopod and was blown away by how strong and easy to use the red leg clamps were! I like them so much I’m planning on picking up one of these tripods.

A few days ago UA-cam recommended me a lot of your older videos, so going back to watching this level of quality shows me how much dedication you have put into it! I think I'd prefer to go with the TC5, because a compact tripod would suit me really well for the travel videos I've been making lately!

Oh man! They are all nice, BUT that TC-7 is *Very Nice* !! I love the fast bowl design, makes leveling so easy and getting low to the ground convenient.
    Thanks for this opportunity, Gerald.

Gerald snaps his fingers and creates the most thorough reviews/overviews in the camera space. This company doesn't get the recognition it deserves. To me, that center column wing nut contraption is very innovative. These should get just as much press as the new Peak Design tripods. I myself would love the TC5! Been saving for a travel tripod as I just broke my last one cause it was a cheap ebay one :( Thanks for the videos Gerald.. you crazy.

IFootage definitely has some amazing products. A friend of mine (who also reviews their products) mentioned the people there are a group of engineers and seeing their product designs, you can definitely tell. That leg locking design is great, and makes sense. Super impressive stuff. Great review, man

I like the Fastbowl. I shoot a lot of Milky Way astrophotography, both panos and tracked, and love the ease of leveling the Fastbowl provides. Plus, even though I’m 6’3” I never use the center column on any of my tripods - I have to have that stability. Great video. Thanks!

I like the TC6. Portability isn't a priority for me, but I love how low and high it can get for how compact it still is. It is hard to come by sturdy center columns and these look superb!

The TC5 does seem the best option for size, weight capacity and max working height. I really like the addition of being able to take the centre column off which is useful and the hook that seems very sturdy is another added bonus! The soft close and extend of the legs is a great feature. Love the videos, great detail and as always delivery.

Man, the faces at the end got a giggle. As always, really stellar factual review Gerald! I personally sit on your line, I like the more versatile TC6. The speed of the TC7 might be neat, but I'm far from the level of filmographer to need or use it. The TC5's travel compacted size is great, but I have more than a few things I regular shoot which are taller - so that versatility and height is just the overall winner - have to say I'd want to rock a TC6. Keep up the awesome work!

I love the quality and thoughtfulness. TC6 seems the best combination of features by a hair over the TC5 ... for me, anyway. However, for anyone who has serious space problems, the TC5 edges out the TC6. Please let me win and send me a TC6 !!! Also, I clicked the thumbs up button 101 times.

Love that you made a video about these tripods because I've been researching them for the past month ever since you released your monopod review about them. The TC7 Fastbowl looks the most useful for my situation because I currently have the Manfrotto befree tripod and I feel so amateur when going to a gig with this lightweight tripod when the other shooters have their big and heavy legs. I was shooting b-cam for an interview video with my friend and I felt like I was making him look bad by having my setup next to his rig. I've also shot some sports videos and have had the tripod move and kicked out of place for being so light. Anyways, thanks for the awesome video and look forward to many more!

When I saw your monopod video I tried to order the carbon fiber one ut was sold out everywhere. I ended up ordering it directly from iFootage it came directly from China fairly quickly in about 3 days. I love my C180 monopod Thank you for the great recommendation !! As far as the tripod I would get the TC7 for the simplicity and quick setup.

The shorter length of the TC5 when collapsed makes it my choice of the three. Thanks for your comments about the hook on the center pole. I shoot quite often on the Oregon coast where the wind can really rip and being able to hang my backpack from the hook would really help stabilize shots.

Awesome review, Gerald! My favourite would be the TC6 for the versatility. The TC5 would be nice for travel but I find myself needing that extra height from time to time. Also, would choose the TC6 over the TC7 just for the sandbag hook to keep everything rock steady during timelapses :)

Very informative and practical review. Thanks for that. In a time where travelling is easier than ever, but airlines are not making our lives easier when bringing our gear, I see myself trying to reduce the size and weight of my equipment. At the same time, I don't want to risk not bringing that piece of gear that I might need, especially when it comes to tripods. For that reason, the TC5 is my favorite because I can have a sturdy and versatile tripod with minimum weight with me.

Awesome products. As a real estate photographer, the TC6 looks about perfect. That leveling feature on the end of an adjustable center column, as you pointed out, would keep me from having to adjust the individual leg height so often, which = time saved. Yes please!

Thanks for this video Gerald! You're going to save me a lot of bucks. I feel the TC6 is overall best suited due to the 3 section fold (instead of 4 on the TC5) and the versatility of using the centre column (as compared to the fastbowl) that just makes things fast in adjustments. love the tc-6 and the fact you go through the underslung mode as not many reviewers of this tripod maker do!, I own a surui and a gitzo, both have this ability, so great to see this still has it, and to be able to take the column off, Pity there isn't another 'nut' to lock the short plate into the spider, then you could use it for MF or LF cameras, as in these, the column can act as a wind catcher too, giving vibrations to the camera, esp. if it is not a heavy rig. ( my gitzo can, as the hook screw attaches to the plate bolt directly, so it locks the head to the spider)- great for windy locations, where stability can be optimised.

TC5 definitely as I've only done travel/doc style clips. Plan to get a travel tripod as my first. 1.9kg & 21'' sounds brilliant and looks great. Also this is the first time i've seen that option to flip the central column so you can shoot closer to the ground. Interesting.

Definitely the TC 7. I'm trying to film my own passion project of a wildlife doc and having the ability to deploy a tripod quickly is paramount. That and being very lightweight is very important while hiking out to get shots. I would definitely use the heck out of that!

I dont want to looks like ass climber but you are really best. I spend few hours to check informations about the tripods. In one review was something in another something else, but I must dig height of TC6 without center colums by measuring picture from website. Till now I didnt know if the head is removable on TC6. Like always after 10 minutes I know EVERYTHING about all the tripods :) I realy like TC6 but I want something for Shark Mini so I think TC7 will be better option. Also it will be quicker to attach head to slider. But I like TC6 more for its versatility :D

Great overview! I like the TC6 the best - it seems the most versatile. I film stop-motion animation as well as live action footage and I think that the height of the tripod and its "underslung" mode would be really useful for times when I need to get the camera directly over my work. I love that we're now seeing tripods with both center columns and bowl-style level adjustments - best of both worlds.

Great review and showcase of the tripod family Gerald!
All the tripods look great (and the price is good too compared to other well known brands) but for me I would go with the simplicity and sturdiness of the Gazelle Fastbowl.
Yes its larger, so more difficult to carry, but looks like it would handle a slider really well and I would use it for that purpose mostly.

I'm going to have to say the TC6. What you take along with the extra length is a such a much greater payload. I've noticed that as I've rigged up some of my cameras, after you take into account the cage, monitor, mic and whatever else, it's always best to err on the side of safety. I purchased the iFootage monopod and it is built like a tank! Would love to add this to the arsenal!! Great review as always, thanks!

This was timely for me, because I'm in need of a well-built, sturdy tripod. I'm not really happy with any of the ones I presently have, and each has its own set of persistently irritating issues.

Both the TC5 and TC6 seem great. I own a Manfrotto 055XPROB, which has a center column that can turn horizontal when needed, but it struggles when getting close to the ground, getting in the way of the tripod head for any kind of movement. So... I can appreciate the detachable colum and the hook on these two.

  • @harryschuurmans6884

For myself, both Gazelle Uprise versions would work well in the mountains especially with their centre columns that incorporate hooks that can handle substantial counter weights for when the tripod needs to be anchored on windy days or when used in an a river. That said, the TC6's 164 cm working height and 8 kilogram max payload makes it a top pick for its versatility for mountain landscapes and wildlife shooting. I am looking forward to hearing in the future from you and/or your members if the build quality makes the Ifootage tripods a worthy investment.

It always depends on usage. Currently I'm shooting predominately landscape photography and as such feel the TC7 would be the best bet because its the simplest of the 3 to use. And if you're dealing with wind or you're postioned on a hillside or on the rocks near or in a stream or other body of water, you really begin to care about stability and load capacity. Simplicity and ease of use is paramount for any application.

TC5 all the way! While it seems to be the unpopular choice here, the loss of height is not a big deal to me and the small package is ideal for my travel! while retaining all the usability of the other versions plus center column. All things my tripod struggle with currently. Would be a dream upgrade and been looking at purchasing one!

TC7 for the load capacity and stability. I sometimes use bigger cameras like Ursas and C300s and even GH5 with a bunch of stuff attached to it (monitors, mics, sound recorder, etc.) and a 70-200mm lens. I wouldn't want all that wobbling around on a center column

Oh, and ending with the "modeling?" of the tripods had me rolling.

I like the TC5 the most cause I love the compact size without falling short on specs. Only used gorillapods till now so this would be a huge upgrade! P.S. Great content keep it up!

Woot woot, iFootage tripod review! Yippee. Still wish they had a version with the monopod’s quick release design for a leg. I’m liking the TC6 Gazelle Uprise for its versatility, wider low leg angle of 80 degrees versus the Fastbowl’s 77 degrees, and the underslung option along with the hook for additional stability.

I would go with the ifootage tc5. It's smaller and easier to carry while hiking. I broke my tripod the other day when my camera, tripod and I fell into a small waterfall. On the bright side I have a 3 walking stick now.

I would go for the TC5 for portability as I think it would b an awesome travel tripod for my upcoming trip to Florida!! It would be a double win since June 15th is also my birthday!!! Thanks for the great video!

One year ago I was really hyped about the idea of beeing a filmmaker. So I put all my money in a gimbal and a camera. (That was before I found you on UA-cam) Lately I've learned a lot about actual filmmaking, had some little jobs in my city and got to the point that.. long story short.. I need a trypod. So after watching this video I would choose the TC7 because of the way you can level it.

I like the TC6 best because it is the ideal compromise between portability, stability, super easy to level, and if you want to get down low, the removable center column is a breeze! The travel tripod that I currently use isn't so convenient and definitely is not stable enough in any wind. iFootage seems to be making some quality products at reasonable prices! Thanks for getting undone!

I really like that you have commented on Lunascope's GMV Studio Light review. Justin's personality is awesome I am is 203rd sub, hopefully he sticks with it. That was the 1st video I had watch of his and subscribed half way through. He is probably appreciative of having you commenting. I have purchased SL-60 setup and is coming tomorrow. I have been taking my time of getting everything setup to really start up an official UA-cam channel. I like your approach and have been referring to your videos a lot. I have three iFootage products, the 1st thing I purchase was the iFootage M1 III Mini-Crane which I will be doing a usage video on after I finish my studio setup video (channel launch video). I use the iFootage Cobra 2 Strike A150S for most everything, even a remodeling project for our home to hold a laser level (Crazy ah) I also have a video in the works for that iFootage product. But the other item is the iFootage Shark Mini Complete with all available options. Yes of course a video in the works for this iFootage item as well. My idea is going to be doing product usage videos (1 year usage). But I have been eying up the Wildbull T7 for use with the slider. But for a regular usage tripod I would prefer the iFootage TC6 because of versatility and add it to my iFootage collection and usage videos. I do forensic videos with my career for manufacturing equipment and I have a use case that would enable me to position my GH5 at 180fps into the equipment safely. With the way the legs will support the camera from below it will create a better angle for a informative top down shot. Being selected would be "awwsome…." and lower my investment cost for the use. I am an iFootage patron for sure, great products all around. You were totally correct about tripods being an investment and paying a small amount more for a tripod and other products can be worth it, if achieved selectively. Thanks for you time creating videos I always get something out of them every time. Accept for using SD cards or the Ninja V for the GH5, you did a great job on explaining compression. I have the Ninja V in my B&H cart, from your link, waiting for me to finalize my decision or to just wake up without the "G.A.S." pains. LOL. Please keep providing good videos you have a great delivery, your editing technique definitely contributes to that.

Well done iFootage! (And you to Gerald:)! Beautifully built, I love the levelling system which makes setup so much faster, and the leg adjustments are spectacular, both vertically and horizontally. Personally, if I had to choose one, I would likely choose the TC6 since its cheaper and I'm always trying to stay within an affordable budget. But that TC5 is a great unit to toss in a suitcase. Both are outstanding! Well done iFootage, and it's nice to see some true innovation and a well thought out approach to a tripod. 👍

I know that your review of the TC6 is about 3 years old, and that in the meantime the level plate got an upgrade. I have reasontly been in contact with iFootage regarding the accessory tread. The problem is that if you have, say, an SA 5-6 attached you'd have to take if off before you are able to adjust the height of the center column.
First iFootage suggested to put a clamp on one of the legs. But why buy more equipment? Now the technical team is looking into the problem, so hopefully in the future, the tripod will be even better!

Another great video!! Realy like the TC6, combine the best of the others.
But my eye now on the cobra 180. It’s review realy shows how good it is.
    Thanks for the amazing videos.

My favourite is the TC6 for the centre column and extra height over the TC5! When I'm shooting from apartment building corridors, I can't do without the extra height to have enough clearance to avoid getting the railing in my shots.

Oooohhh!!! definitely the TC7. The stability at height due to it not having the centre column plus the ability to drop very low without janky conversion definitely wins. Would love one of these to replace my now 10-year-old main legs.
