- This week we sail along the Southern Coast of Viti Levu, the main island of Fiji in our Amel Super Maramu. We visit Suva, Beqa Island, Robinson Crusoe Island & the Shangri-La resort. Rob ALMOST steps on a banded sea snake for the second time in his life. Fortunately this one didn't bite him like the last time.

That long white beach along from the Shangri La Resort is called Cuvu Beach. 😎

Hey Peter. The genoa has a padded luff which helps keep it flat when reefed. The main & mizzen have hardly any shape at all as they need to be cut flat for the in-mast furling to work. We actually just replaced the mizzen sail as it was bagged out so much that it was becoming difficult to furl. Thanks for watching. Hope you are enjoying Dee’s videos. 👍

Hey Coleen, Dee did one ages ago on Instagram but is halfway through doing one for YT. She says she never got around to finishing it but will do so. Jaygo is a 25 year old boat, maybe in above average condition but certainly not like new. We try to look after her so that she looks after us. Amels are very well built boats and tend to age well if they are maintained properly. Rob.

The sea snake is called a dunducalathe
Thanks Matthew. Have seen heaps of them. One even made its way into the dinghy. They definitely don’t seem aggressive at all.
