"Father quits playing final fantasy because he doesn't know how to change outfits" this is the moment you knew his father is an epic gamer lol
The mom doesn't allow to play games so you negotiate for 1 hour then go over time and throw a tantrum of not being able to beat titan lol yep every gamer knows this feeling
The true end game!

Well, I'm already crying haha. This really hits home. I really miss my dad.
Me too dude. Mine lives like 45-1hr away but he's so busy with work that I can't see him often and we feel really disconnected from each other
Can anyone tell me where to watch japanese, korean and european films for free??

As a gamer, I can say this is a certified epic gamer moment.
Yes this is epic gamer moment
Agreed as the gamer council has deemed it official epic gamer moment!
Epic moment, *me crying*
same miss those days
Yup 👍
What a wholesome, heartwarming story. And the ending hit home a little, I once bought a game console to keep up with old friends thousands of miles away. Meeting up with them each week online was fantastic. Games really can transcend in the right circumstances..
@LAW way to ruin the moment
"Wife bans him"
We all know who the true villain is.
We all know who is the true nemesis of gamers.
women
Anytime you think "man I wish I had a girlfriend/wife all you have to do is spend 5 minutes with one and that should change your attitude real quick." 😏
The true super villain who cannot be defeated.
The Last Boss
So, for those who don't know, this is based on a true story, told in a blog by Akio's real life counterpart, known as his FFXIV character name Maidy Maidy, where he told the story of how he reconciled with his father by introducing him to FFXIV to bond with him. It was a massive success in the japanese FFXIV community, to the point where the producer caught wind of it, loved it and befriended Maidy, and a 7 episodes series was created, which is on Netflix. The movie was shot later, which still follows the plot of the series and the blog but is more condensed.
Sadly, Maidy died in november of 2020 from bowel cancer. He was a fan of Gundam, just like the FFXIV producer, and I like to think, I don't have confirmation though, I like to think that the newest healer job Sage is a homage to Maidy and his love for Gundam.
For anyone who's wandering what the title on Netflix is, it's Final Fantasy XIV Dad Of Light, hope it helps.
Omg I’m crying even more now 😭😭😭😭
👍
Not a fan of final fantasy, but this really put tear on my eyes because i wish i had a father like that. Damn, i still remember how much of a deadbeat my biological father is.
same, mine too
@@saulgermaine3104 I mean, the answer to your question is clear, so what is your actual reasoning behind this question? (Just for the case you say its not clear: no, he doesnt want a deadbeat hardcore gamer as a father. Who would?!)
You’re not alone m8, same here
My dad is a gamer too
Well good luck fjellas you are sure to be a great dad in the future.
I can't wait for my daughter to grow up and game together! She's 2.5 years old and already loves Slayer just like I do.

I remember this show. It had a slow start, but as soon as they defeated the first boss, the show really gets going!
My father may have failed his entire life to care about knowing me. But I will know my child. And we will be epic gamers. Together. Hopefully my wife will come along for the ride. An epic family.
Nice name

Used to play wii sports with my dad. My dad has multiple local and national trophies in golf and I thought that the skills wouldn't transfer in wii sports golf.
I proceeded to get utterly destroyed🤣🤣
Was awesome
Akio/maidy's story is based on a real person who was also a FFXIV player and friend to the developer. He passed away few years ago from cancer. Rip Maidy.

This is an example of how video games help us. Yes, they have disadvantages too but some of the advantages overweigh the disadvantages.
I think it depends on the individual. Some people could get addicted and some couldn't restraint at all. Most adults I know quit video games when they started to have families or when the families don't have enough income. Now people just play games with betting element in the hope to strike a jackpot. No true gamers left in my vicinity except kids 😥
The kid is lucky to have a gamer dad
Our kids are the lucky ones lmao generation gamer dads
The kid is lucky to have a dad
Dont worry, make a family and then u will be your son/daughter gamer dad
I have a gamer dad, I grew up playing so any games and going to arcades and go karts over the years it was awesome but I didn't live with him till I was a teenager. sadly most of the arcades died out.
he has two custom arcade machines in his man cave basement that has a lot of emulators on it (2600+ games in each arcade.)
He had to retire like 2+ years ago because he had a heart attack so now he just does little projects around his house, he was a maintenance worker for 20+ years and I'm glad he has relaxation because he worked since he was 15 years old and he's 50+ years old now and I love my dad to death.
I also cried... Touching story. Loved this recap.
they need to mainstream this movie. gives video game a better light. ppl stigma with video games broken in this movie, love it.
thanks for the recap too ;)
facts
Before this movie there is the TV series, it's on Netflix
I only wish I had the chance to do this with my Father.
R.I.P. Dad, I love and misses you so much.
I am glad this has a happy ending. Was worried it will end sadly.
Only in the movie he survived, irl he died.
If it's a korean movie, you would be cryin now.
Don't know if this was stated already, but this is actually based on a true story. This movie also has a short drama you can find on Netflix. Unfortunately, the dad has since passed away.
Rest in peace
The dad actor passed away, the real person (the real maidy) has also passed away bcs of cancer iirc

Some of us can agree the memory of playing games with your dad is one of the best in life. Mine was snes TMNT
I wish I had a close family member who can play videogame together with me like this. At some point, everyone just grow out of it...leaving me be the only gamer...
that sucks. I have 2 cousins that since birth weve played everygame together. And still do via discord. I suggest joining diffrent discord servers with groups playing games. That and grouping up with randoms that have mics. You'd be surprised how many cool ppl you find that might be in the same predicament. Give it a try. Safe gamming!
I got 3 brothers I still play with and my cousin also plays with us.
I'm a boomer and is turning 38 soon. All my gaming guild since ragnarok online/wow times have either passed away or is busy with their family/work.
Im the only one still gaming altho my other half has been complaining about it all the time.
I feel your pain.
Also something to note, I played in tonberry server in Ff14 and the community is literally 0 toxidity and everyone is patient and helpful. It's very wholesome experience.
This is such a wholesome story I love it!
My father and I used to play age of empires together over lan connections. He passed away two years ago due to cancer and ever since then there's been a huge part of my life missing. If you have loved ones and you care about them. Dont be afraid to try out new things with them because once they're gone. They're gone :(
So damn heartfelt i made few friends on ff online learnt 2 where 58 yo and lost loved ones and the only way to cope was friends they made in games.
I still keep in touch with them and always down for a dungeon crawl in ff online
such a heartwarming and touching movie🥺
We can all agree that he never fails to entertain us 💗💗💗
He? I thought he was some cosmic entity.
Oh man, it's so sweet. Having a father and son bonding in a mmorpg. 😭
My god this is so wholesome.
My father is also always busy with work
but when we first got a playstation 1
he discovered harvest moon and immediately fell in love with it
Playing the game every night with me watching behind him
miss those times
Having a Dad who likes playing the same games u do is the best thing I could ask for
when i was a kid, my dad was a gamer and used to introduce me to games to play..there is this particular racing game on the console that he always played, and he was good at it..i couldnt beat his track record when i was younger so his ghost was always leading the track record..i stop playing and my dad passed on couple years later..fast forward i got married and moved house then i found the old console i had when i was a kid, tried it on and it was functional as well..and i was so happy to see my dad ghost track record when i was racing, almost feels like he is there racing alongside with me..i will nvr try to beat his ghost now, because once i do, i would replaced his ghost
Damn bro you made me tear up 😭😭
I’m sorry about your dad and keep doing what you’re doing
Just watching Dad crash all into the walls. Magical
damn this triggered my own memories of a similar situation, Gran Turismo from playstation, fortunately my father is still alive but I never get to see him.
I loved this wen it came out. it's sad the father's actor died. Square Enix truly loves and cares about the fans and understands the fans have lives of their own. I mean look at Soken, still working while in the hospital with cancer and no one else knew other than him, Yoshi-P, and SE's CEO. Love and dedication. I will always support sqaure enix
He's alive
My God I feel like crying!
This video is that good!
I literally don't know a single thing about my father. Apparantly this shoots too much closer 😆
Now this is a cool story line and one that really hits home.
I remember watching this. It was called Dad of Light on Netflix
THIS IS THE BEST MOVIE, AKIO IS SO LUCKY TO HAVE A FATHER LIKE AKIRA 😭😭😭😭♥️♥️♥️
Man I wish they dropped a season 2 of this show. It was actually really good. Loved every episode
Omg, this is too sweet. I wasnt ready
The power of old people when they are determined LOL
An awesome way to make a Final Fantasy commercial while telling a good story :)
This story reminds me about my older brother. He got me into Final Fantasy XIV and we would play it whenever we got the chance. He lives far away and this is the one way we can still hangout while having fun. Spend time with your family because you never know where life may lead them.
This relate so much to me and my father, almost puts tears in my eyes.
They made an advertisement a whole movie lmao
The only time me and my father talked was during our gaming time, once I became a father I cherish my memories of playing with my daughter.....damn
This story resonates so well with me and my dad.. we used to play Fifa all the time when I was a kid, and would do 2v2's online, it got to a point where he got way better then me, and would be mad at me for messing up.. I miss playing with you dad.
Very emotional and touching film.

Look at him, practicing his micro in public on an "air joypad". What a legend. Jeremy would be proud of him. The Masterer would be proud of him. Would? No. IS!
I would've give up everything just to see my father once.. I had so much things to say, so many things to learn but and unfortunate car accident took him away from us. I was just a kid back then still didn't know what to do in life. I miss him till date.
me and my dad both play games
and i introduced my dad to racing game 6years ago
until now my dad still playing the game and i always happy to see my dad happy playing the game i recommend
Isn't this just so cute? ♥ I'm not crying, you are.
Every gamers young and young at heart will relate. I'm in early 30's now, still having no own family , 'cause of fear. I hope I may play games with my young kids in the future🤗❤️
This movie just made my day👍

Didnt expect to cry wholesome tears today 😁
What an epic story! Wish I played with my dad like that back when he's still with us.
Movie is a Japanese movie titled Brave father online: Our Story Of Final Fantasy XIV? Nice. Added to my list.
This is a really good movie. My dad & I have never really been close. The only thing that ever made him happy with me, was my academic performance. Everything else NEVER MATTERED to him!
GREAT movie recap.

Haven't played much Final Fantasy but from my Pov, it's a lovely game I must say..... Anyways......I'm in tears even though my father is still with me.... I don't remember playing games together but WE Do have songs which we loved our taste our same at many ways 😊
this is the best. i love it. it's happy and sad, and it looks beautiful. ah. amazing.
Now this is an ad I would watch
I relate to this because my dad used to work all the time but he would always put time away and play games with my brothers and I when we were young.
Now I gotta watch this movie the recap alone made me tear up a little.

this is my favorite recap
Bruh this was cool as shit. I wish my dad was still alive so I could do stuff like this with him again..
Though the illness was a bad news, we can also say that it was a "blessing in disguise"
“Are you winning, Dad?”
Man’s left the hospital to game, a true sigma
in some way --- i did this with my son.
i was working in another city - one week and be home the next and so on --- whenever i had chance, i played with him...
smite, LoL, lotro, swtor... many hours...
It was fun.
it was a chance to have a good connection, while being away from home.
Wonderful story.
