Cubase must put more in for sounddesign like ableton&bitwig. Most beatmakers wont touch cubase. Ableton&bitwig have somuch tools that makes you learn musicmaking. More granular and better midi pattern sequencing. Padshop compared to abletons granulars is a joke. Etc etc i have ableton and bitwig too. Only people i know use cubase are bands. I hope it gets alot of good features in version 13 for beatmakers to stay inspired.
I’m on PC using Cubase 12 Pro and I’m experiencing buggy and crash issues while trying to test macros in the key command/macros menu. After trying to type in numerous key commands and testing the macros, if I try and duplicate a macro and use it in itself, when I return back to the macros menu, the key commands will go out of sequence, rendering the macro useless. And after I try and move a key command/function up or down in the macro list, Cubase will freeze and crashes. It’s either after I try duplicating a series of functions and return to the menu, OR if I create a key command to get back into the key command/menu itself, things after a while tend to get buggy there. Was wondering if you had any experience with this, or if you can test out this theory yourself and concur with my issue. It’s absolutely frustrating trying to get my macros in order and having this issue. Otherwise, I love Cubase and always will
Hi Mike, I don't use macros myself at the moment so I also don't experience these symptoms you are talking about. If you have an exact reproduction scenario I can try it for you, but it sounds like it is not yet exactly clear what triggers the issue you are describing. Have you reported it to Steinberg already?
Some ppl were talking about a .5 but apparently, my comment got deleted for having a link. Was pointing you to the steinberg forum page where SB said there'd be no more .5 releases. there wasn't an 11.5. same will hold true going forward.
The first question to Greg was about Cubase 13. It doesn’t mean 12.5 isn’t coming first. He just clarified 13 is being worked on. And like any software company, they have a product roadmap to prioritize what gets scoped and committed in 13, 14, 15, etc.. Nothing new or shocking here.
@@LanewoodStudios is that a bridge? I’ve been hoping there would be one since I’m using Lexicon plug-ins which are valuable to me. There are a few other vst 2 but those are the main ones I really like.
@@LanewoodStudios It was a different stream. The one you have in the video is a link I posted in the Steinberg forums recently, and about two weeks ago addressing Cubase 13. I’m under “crab crates”.
Haven't had a lot of problems with crashing myself, but sure. If the crash is related to a non-cubase plugin, I have a video about how to deal with that ;).
Integration with Native Instruments, and perhaps other midi controllers would be nice. That whole midi remote mapping business is confusing and time consuming.
There are some integrations with NI keyboards already. I'm running an integration with my Komplete Kontrol S61 at least. Or did you mean something else?
@@LanewoodStudios I use NI A25 and have tried multiple times to make it work before I decided to give up. Strange things start to happen after I map all the buttons. I understand if the keyboard was made by some little known manifacturer, but with major brands this should be straightforward I think.
@@LanewoodStudios I don't think there will be a C13 release this year. They dropped the .5 version releases, so it is possible they dropped the yearly releases and so a 2 year release will be more expensive, they will want to make the same amount of money. They skipped a year last time, but then again, if they want make more money, they could do a 100 euro yearly release with full versions.
OK - Here is my speculation: All these talks about next version (13) creates pressure on Steinberg to release "something". By applying this pressure, we are as a community turns our loved DAW to be a Smartphone cover. As the old phrase: "Be careful when asking for something you might get it…". What options we leave to Steinberg? 1) To release a "BS" version meaning with no real value 2) To release premature version full of bugs 3) To release un optimized version that will consume more computer resources and to justify it they will call it the magic word: "AI" Funny. All these fancy plugins that claim to use AI and in real got nothing to do with AI... Good marketing.... So it is our community decision if we want to convert our DAW to a Smartphone covers that every now and then will appear with different colors and different patterns, we will pay more but actually we will get nothing real in return. What I want in Cubase 13: "Auto Gain Staging…." Have a nice day
Hi Amrad, thanks for your reply. I personally don't think we can pressure Steinberg into anything like that, and it was also not my intention with the video. Nor have I seen a lot of other videos about Cubase 13 already that try to do that. I believe that their (new) release strategy has already been determined a while ago and it is know to them and a few beta testers only. I would assume it is guided more by finances, and the necessity to generate revenue from Cubase regularly, than it is from any technical requirements. At the same time it is fun to speculate and see what we can deduce from the scarce information that is out there already. It's not essential for me that they release something within the next few months as I can work perfectly fine in Cubase 12 and others can as well. Some people may be bothered by a specific bug in their way of working with Cubase but that doesn't require a new major release to be solved. Thanks for your new feature suggestion and you have a nice day too.
@@LanewoodStudios Hi. Your video is perfectly fine (I am watching all your videos), nevertheless as CEO of a company that is also selling software this is my practice throughout the years. I which they incorporate Frequency2 in the channel window! And please an updated CC121 to go with it!!!
Good idea and yes a Cubase focused hardware controller would be great!
Now the 40% offer for C12 is gone. And since none of these discounted buyers can upgrade to C13 for free in the grace period, I expect C13 to be released by the end of May 2023. And probably some functions will be transferred from N12 to C13 again. As a Nuendo user, I'm excited to see what we'll get soon.
Yes the offer ended March 28th. So 6 weeks after that is middle May. You may be right.
Would love to have the turntable effect with the fade function like Logic has.
Nice one!
support for 13th gen Intel cpu would be nice.
Yes it would.
Will be interesting to see what they do add to Cubase 13 . P.S Had a look at the Cubase 12 guitar how to, but it's more aimed at Heavy metal .
Yes Mendel is mostly about the heavier side 😉
@@LanewoodStudios It sounds great , but way to heavy for my tastes . i much prefer the tone's you have in your Awash Calling .
@@parabot2 thanks 🙏
Im a Long Time Cubase User. But since Atmos just get logic and don’t pay a cent for future updates!
...but cubase 12 has temp snap off..? i guess? when i press cmd it releases the snap..or am I wrong..?..but ,,track stacks,,or ,,routing folders,, would be amazing.... regards
I need to try that because someone else mentioned that but I didn't know that yet.
I hope they expand on the current chord display. It’s way too small.
On the chord track you mean? Or do you mean on the chord pads?
@@LanewoodStudios so when I’m playing chords with the midi editor open I like to noodle around first with ideas so it would be nice to see the chords I’m auditioning live. When you open the midi editor it only shows the chords that have been recorded in the current chord display. I think they need to have a live function to see the chords I’m playing like logic has. Hope I made sense lol
@@Thisninjascared ah ok got you. Great idea!
Thanks for your input and 🤞.
I hope they’ll finally change the look of Cubase. Currently Cubase looks like some school children’s app.
Agreed! Specifically the mixer view it’s like a toy game
Anyone knows how to replicate the chain selector feature from ableton in Cubase ?
Looking at past release dates I think it will be a november or december release again.
They might revert to the former schedule yes. It’s an option.
@@LanewoodStudios I somehow think the March release was a delayed nov/dec one
Cubase are the only daw wich has problems with different monitor resolutions. Its a shame.
Some ppl were talking about a .5 but apparently, my comment got deleted for having a link. Was pointing you to the steinberg forum page where SB said there'd be no more .5 releases. there wasn't an 11.5. same will hold true going forward.
Thanks 🙏
The best release date for Cubase 13 is Friday, October 13, 2023 :)
😎
The first question to Greg was about Cubase 13. It doesn’t mean 12.5 isn’t coming first. He just clarified 13 is being worked on. And like any software company, they have a product roadmap to prioritize what gets scoped and committed in 13, 14, 15, etc.. Nothing new or shocking here.
Yes you can hear it like that too, for sure.
It´s premiering even before my dawn, so I will have to settle to watch it deferred 👍 (Stock Plugins, Dolby Atmos....)
Wherever, whenever 😉
Since I own vat’s which use vst 2 I can’t imagine changing from 12 pro anytime soon.
Yes they would have to be replaced if they make VST2 obsolete. Or you can use the DDMF meta plugin perhaps.
@@LanewoodStudios is that a bridge? I’ve been hoping there would be one since I’m using Lexicon plug-ins which are valuable to me. There are a few other vst 2 but those are the main ones I really like.
@@JohnBarrylizard yes sort of. It’s a plugin in which you can run a combination of other plugins and route them freely.
What Greg Ondo says, its what you get. So don't follow youtube click bait nonsense.
Sure, Greg’s the man!
After summer October maybe
👍🤞
I would imagine after 12.5
Check the video 😁
after all those years they still dont implemented loop tracks like ableton for life music, that is so stupid, for the rest good program
Greg Ondo said not to expect it in April. Check the march 24th Club Cubase.
I think that’s the part I m showing in the video no? Or is it in another part of the live stream?
@@LanewoodStudios It was a different stream. The one you have in the video is a link I posted in the Steinberg forums recently, and about two weeks ago addressing Cubase 13. I’m under “crab crates”.
@@dmvtrax645 thanks I’ll have a look.
If it doesn't have ripple edit I will be moving to Reaper after using Cubase for 25 years.
Ah yes, I use that all the time in DaVinci Resolve when editing these videos 👍
They need to rehaul the damn thing. Crashproof for one.
Haven't had a lot of problems with crashing myself, but sure. If the crash is related to a non-cubase plugin, I have a video about how to deal with that ;).
For me the crashes ive had in cubase pro 12 where solved with a previous graphic driver install. Flawless until then.
Tomorrow, Wednesday april 5th, Cubase 12,5.
Ha … that would be very surprising to me, but let’s see 😎😁.
@@LanewoodStudios Just kidding ;) You where spot on with the grace period.
@@brianlespoir6287 😎🤓
@@LanewoodStudios I don't think there will be a C13 release this year. They dropped the .5 version releases, so it is possible they dropped the yearly releases and so a 2 year release will be more expensive, they will want to make the same amount of money. They skipped a year last time, but then again, if they want make more money, they could do a 100 euro yearly release with full versions.
I held onto 5 for 12 years and it outlasted 2 computers. upgrades are lame. dont forget, you bought it to make music.
You have quite a few enhancements to look forward to when you do upgrade then :).
1) To release a "BS" version meaning with no real value
2) To release premature version full of bugs
3) To release un optimized version that will consume more computer resources and
to justify it they will call it the magic word: "AI"
Funny. All these fancy plugins that claim to use AI and in real got nothing to do with AI... Good marketing....
So it is our community decision if we want to convert our DAW to a Smartphone covers that every now and then will appear with different colors and different patterns, we will pay more but actually we will get nothing real in return.
What I want in Cubase 13: "Auto Gain Staging…."
Have a nice day
Hi Amrad, thanks for your reply.
Clients' expectations create lot of pressure. Yes, the end game is the complex tuning between Revenue, Quality, Customer retention and Competition…
Have a great day… Amram
@@LESHED1 thanks, and you too!
It’s not pressure. Users want a stable daw with consistent bug fix releases. Go read the forum.
I have a secret to share,,, is not going to be call Cubase 13 can't say more sorry
Tease ... 😉
Greg Ondo said their will be a Cubase 13. Can’t believe this.
Cubase X?
@@HOLLASOUNDS takes me back to the Cubase SX days 😉
Please fix the horrible, ugly color scheme. Cubase 8.5 is still so easy on the eyes.
Ha ha …. It’s a taste thing I’m sure.
In 2023 there will be no Cubase 13.
That would surprise me as well but we’ll wait and see 😋
Cubase 13 for Halloween
That would be very fitting 😋
