The thing I love about Simon is that he is so relatable to an average player. He keeps the lesson simple and gives you the tools to repeat the swing after you've left the lesson. The other thing I like is that he looks like an average player He does not look like a 6'2" tour player who is ripped from his workouts and generates 115 mph swing speed. He looks more like ME! and that gives me confidence to believe "Yeah. I can do that!" I'm really enjoying this series and I hope it continues! Well done Liam and staff.
First 30 year's of my golf life, i hit a small draw, then in the quest to get to plus figures i learned the fade, my advice to any upcoming player is swing your own swing whether it's a draw or a fade, youll always know where the balls going
Thanks Simon. Always a pleasure to watch your videos.
Thank you Simon!
Excellent information Simon thank you
This guy is the best coach on you tube ..simple and straightforward style..thank you for these tips!
Great video Simon. Well explained. You’re a savage beast!
Very good advice. Trying to hit a perfectly straight shot is near as damned impossible, so why try? Work a slight shape and get used to playing with what you have. 👌
the clearest explanation I have seen Simon. Many Thanks .. p.s. Barlow can curve a roadrunning-scoopy-whoopy .. how is this even possible ??
A fantastic simple lesson Simon you have a fantastic coaching style that is so easy to understand, Thank you
At last I understand 👍 thanks Simon, Liam, Old man Pat, and all can't wait to get on the range Tuesday and will report back. Happy days ⛳️
Even as a mid handicap i can hit straight shots. It's not the easiest unless my body is balanced and strong. Otherwise I'm either having the ball fall to one side or the other. Moe Norman gave me a lot of faith to at least try and hit it straight.
Great information Simon! Thanks, as always!
Simon, does it matter if your grip is “strong “ or “weak”? I like to hit “draw”.
I love the way you simplify things Simon. But if a draw is the easiest shot in golf, why can’t I hit one? Answers on a postcard. 😆
Thanks Simon need more fault and fix group sessions b please.
The GOAT is back. What another great lesson. Superb Simon 👌🏼🏌️♂️
Everyone has a different way to play. Nick Faldo has a video and the technique he uses is perfect. How to drive straight. Move your left leg forward of your right leg (if you are a right handed golfer). Simple as that. I am 70 and play off 17. I have a nickname here at Brent Valley GC in Ealing. Fairway Finder. Another solid piece of advice. Slow down your back swing a tad. I do not hit the ball longer than 170 -190 on average, sometimes a bit longer or shorter. But I lose count how many colleagues and friends who are in their 40's 50's etc, try and smash it 220 -250 and they can be all over the place. Old Man Pat is the genius and I saw you guys about 5 years ago at the same time I watched Nick Faldo. Your technical inches here and inches there. Disagree with you. Handicap golfers are not the same as pros. If you get on in regulation that is great but if you consistently get on in three you have a putt for par and a five is playing to an 18 handicapper. The par 3s will allow for getting that score to come down into the mid 80's. Percentages. This video surprised me.
I couldn’t agree more. I’m bored out of my tits with coaches on UA-cam every week coming up with a different approach to saying the same thing
As a high handicap player I am delighted if I hit it straight
More Norman would disagree. Pipeline Moe.
Moe Norman's shots were not, technically speaking, straight, i.e., no curvature on them. They looked straight and were straight-ish, but not acutally straight, meaning zero curvature. This is what Simon was talking about - no curvature at all. Cheers.
Brilliant video Simon
There's no such thing as a straight shot sir nick faldo said that 😊
True
I disagree . I have seen the GolfMates hit some straight shots. And of course Moe Norman hit straight shots. It depends on your technique .
Even the shots that you think are straight or look straight, are not technically straight shot, there is some curve on it. It may not be much, but it has curvature. A straight shot, technically, has no curve at all, and, it's almost impossibe to hit that shot. This is what Simon is talknig about - no curvature at all. Cheers.
You might want to watch some broadcast with data, they show shots with literally 0 curve all the time.
Jin young Korean famously hit bullet straight shots
True. My neighbor Mike Donald was a PGA Touring pro for years. He told me that there are only a few pro's that play a straight ball. It's too difficult to repeat over and over. Thanks.
Commented for the YT algorithm. (Also, a good video)
You are wrong.. Face sends it, and path bends it.
Yes, what do these pros know
@@jakey_j I am a pro. Go do some homework.
Interesting. I just read an article about the “New” ball flight laws where it discusses this Path vs Face and which sends and which bends. They do say new data says the face sends. But they say amateurs understand the concept better as the face bends so that might be why Simon still uses it. Even though Simon says path sends, his explanation of face pointing right and path pointing a little more right is exactly how the “New” ball flight laws say to hit a draw. The “Old” laws apparently had you aim the face at the target which resulted in starting at target and drawing away. Thank you Rowdy Roddy for pointing this out. I love me some good golf discussion as I always learn more from it🏌♂❤
No wonder Liam's swing has been a mess this summer 🤣
@@iggywhiskers You're very welcome. Trackman data of millions and millions of golf shots proves it out. It's not even debatable, with all the data they have.
I wouldn't step on a fellow pro's lesson if I was wrong. Nothing against Simon. I would make the same comment on any fellow pro's statement of such, no matter who it is.
LOL I do disagree with the "you can't hit it straight" thinking though... but this isn't the place for that debate.
Cheers.
mmmmmmmmmmm ?
do you have to change the line for windy conditions
Interesting. Rowdy Roddy makes a comment about how Path sends it is wrong. I replied with the comment below but decided to add it as my own comment here. It would be interesting to hear from Simon. I love how Simon explains golf. I understand his simply way of talking through it. Thanks Simon and Liam and crew.
