LOL!! You mention procrastinate....Sir, I have this plaster bandage stuff you speak of here, that I picked up at the thrift shop I volunteer at every week. I got it when I first started there....TWELVE YEARS AGO, hahahaa!!!! Ive put off using it so long, Ive literally moved once, and my child who was 2 when I got it is now starting high school, haha!!! I know a little about this procrastination you speak of ;P BUT, THIS is something I can def do and happy to see I dont need ANYTHING else (I have glass bowl vases galore at the thrift & Im going in the AM!)....so, thank you so much for this!
Gosh 12 years is a long time but I'm sure I have a project somewhere that is a similar age. It's crazy how quickly time flies 😁 I'm hoping to do another one soon 🎃
Hello, wanted to let you know how much I am enjoying your video and will definitely attempt to create one of these Vintage Cat candy pumpkins too. It brought back memories of the paper mache Halloween candy pumpkins I uses as a child . Thank you for a very informative and easy to follow tutorial .
It is definitely my favorite way of sculpting anything. I never use clay now. I prefer to use warm water as it is much kinder to my hands so I end up switching the water out as it cools.
I love those old vintage Halloween buckets they’re really cool I have actually on some Facebook groups for vintage Halloween items only I just keep putting off buying one I would love to kind of make one that’s the style I really like I really want the cat figure. Classic
Ah it's so much fun and so simple to make one I'm sure you could do it. It's also sooo cheap compared to buying one. In the UK similar buckets sell for £50!
I’ve been making “vintage” paper mache Halloween for a few months now. I used a similar technique with Modge Podge and tissue paper but have to say that THIS is by far a superior looking end result. I have a multipack of plaster fabric rolls just waiting to be used. Thank you for the inspiration. Excellent.
Oh awesome if you have an Instagram or something I would love to see what you have made before 😁 and good luck on the future ones I hope you like this technique as much when you try it
You now have an Heirloom quality Halloween decoration! Very 1930s! Very nice! I'm a new subscriber and l plan to try one for this year! Thanks for your video! Your friend in Kansas City, Tom 🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🇺🇸🎉
OMG what an awesome cat. I just found your channel and I am really excited about watching all your videos. I can totally relate to messing with your project too much. 😊🤗😚😙😗❤❤
Ah I'm glad you like it. Yes it's very easy to play with a project too much I have found. I'm never any happier with it and I usually ruin it. So I find it's best to just restrict myself.
Incredible work! Impeccable! Just discovered your channel and subscribed! Please do more vintage inspired and quirky crafting and holiday decor videos because you are amazing at it!
Ah thank you that's really kind. I'm glad you like this video. We definitely do some quirky stuff here. This is the first time we don't have renovation projects going on so I am excited to decorate properly 😁
Hi, newest subbie here 👋. This 30s/folk art inspired black cat lantern is AMAZING!!!!! This is the first tutorial I’ve watched of yours, but it won’t be the last, for sure. Fangtastic! 🐈⬛
Wow it looks great! I also made a vintage inspired treat bowl for Halloween, but out of paper mache. It took a couple of weeks to do all 15 layers (old school with newspaper and thick wallpaper paste) but I do recommend it if you ever want to give slower paced crafting a go. I love your plaster bandage crafting- inspired to try it. Thanks for sharing lovely 🧡🎃
I've just started my Halloween paper mache projects but I'm off to hobbycraft tomorrow to get mod roc strips. That's such an ingenious idea and so much quicker 🎃🎃🎃
Loved this one! I love creating with papier mache, but this clearly is a much faster method so I have to try to make this cute cat! It's unusual and actually looks antique, as opposed to a lot of "vintage" looking Halloween decorations here on UA-cam. Personally I never watch short videos so it would fun to see more full length ones from you😊 I'm subscribing and hoping to see more exciting projects in the future!
Yeah I still love this cat I am hoping to squeeze in another bucket video in the next week or so. Usually our videos are full length and we just do a short version to try and reach more people who watch them and might want to see a more in-depth tutorial 🤠
@@craftingandcrying Thank you 😃 quite a few people have let me know they are usually in the craft section with the clay or with the medical bandages. Otherwise they are pretty common on Amazon 😃
This is really sweet. I've never used plaster bandages before .did you say you you get it from the range?.not sure if I could do the cats face as well as you .you make me laugh with your plates .hope you didn't want that one for your Christmas Dinner .can't wait for the Christmas crafts to come as there my favourite .yes I am watching the whole video .Still love the little drawers and cowboy box you did .oh dear you have a sweet tooth .take care and best wishes x
Hi Diana, ah thank you I'm so glad you like it. Yeah I get these from the range they are usually with the clay and they are in a white bag. They are £1.50 each bag and I use them for all sorts. I bet you could come up with a million ideas and I'm definitely going to be using them for Christmas crafting x Thank you for watching the whole video I really appreciate it ❤️
Hi there! I’m so happy I found your channel. I am also interested in vintage paper mache projects. I recently made a vintage pumpkin. You do beautiful work. New subscriber here 🌈✌🏼
Hi there I'm glad you liked the project 😀 I hope to make a vintage pumpkin next or a witch or a ghost - haven't quite decided so might have to do them all 🤠
Well, I have never heard of these plaster bandages before so I never bothered to do any plasterwork. The bucket is just so much fun and the end product looks like it belongs in a vintage shop. I will give this a try only because you took the time to show the whole process. However, how did you attach the handle? Thanks again.
I'm glad you liked it. I did a ghost one this year if you haven't seen that video. It came out quite cool too. For the handle I drilled a hole either side and popped the wire through and bent it from the inside ☺️
You make this look pretty easy, and though I'm not very artistic, I'm inspired to try it! It's got so many possibilities of more than just a cat ;-) Great project. xx
Ah thanks it is really easy and you should definitely give it a try. I love how originally vintage it looks and I'm going to make one every year for the next few years. Pinterest has a load of vintage paper mache ones for inspiration x
I don't think they are. They are like a gauze strip but they have the plaster already in them. They are usually in the craft isle with the clay. They were once used in hospital for plaster casts for broken bones but I think that's been replaced now so they are great for crafting 😊
This was SOOO cute!!! Do you have a preference on what size of plaster gauze to use (width-wise)? I'm going to try this, but I'm nervous! I'm a perfectionist and I know I'll never get it as perfect as yours!
Ah thank you 🤠 the one I use is 7.5cm wide. I get mine in the craft isle. Its good fun to do, I am going to do one each year until I have a nice sized collection. Don't be too precious about it and just know that it all comes together towards the end when you distress it. Anything you aren't too happy with, I distress more and the bits you like I lightly distress ☺️
I've was viewing diy vintage style decoration videos but wasn't satisfied with the look of the final results. I saw the thumbnail for this and said "ooh that!"
Oh no it's really not it's good fun. I've tried to make things with clay in the past and bandages are so much easier to work with. I did a ghost one too, maybe check that video out. Bandage is also super cheap
Hi All I did a ghost bucket if you want to also check out that video ua-cam.com/video/PPWtnSRy1Y4/v-deo.htmlsi=rlDsCa4BwdVPBprV

That cabinet in background..love it
Thank you I actually made that too. It's a bunch of IKEA moppe drawers joined together 🤠
😍 LOVE. LOVE. LOVE! This is a MUST TRY!!!
It's good fun 😀 I'm hoping to do another one this year and make it a tradition
This turned out fantastic! Great video, I love being able to follow along and actually see how you form things with the plaster.
Ah thank you, I have a few other bucket videos on my channel 🎃
One of the best videos I have seen. Love your style and way of teaching. Very refreshing indeed!
Thank you so much ❤️
Looks authentic. Just like a true vintage Halloween treat bucket!

Thank you I'm glad you like it. A pumpkin is next on my list. I'm hoping to have it ready soon 🎃
This came out beautiful! What a fun project...I love vintage looks too...Thank you!

If you use brown paper instead of newspaper for paper mache it goes much faster...just two or three layers of brown paper mache is really sturdy too.
I've just started my Halloween paper mache projects but I'm off to hobbycraft tomorrow to get mod roc strips. That's such an ingenious idea and so much quicker 🎃🎃🎃
