Kate Bush is pure feminine energy in a very powerful being. There was nobody like her at the time, in fact there weren't many women auteurs in 1978, she was something of a pioneer by having full artistic control over her music, videos & staging. Surely a genius.
Indeed - there still isn't anyone like her to this day. Completely unique, all the talent, timeless - one of the few that could genuinely be classified as a genius.
Couldn't agree more Singing Bee, ooops I mean Lavender Bee. KB is a remarkable artist that transcends every kind of musical genre. For me she also represents the essence of femininity.
thats why she was successful from the start, she blew us all away and there was no tv show or video clip or concert for us to watch, we bought the vinyl lps. So glad to watch all her songs now on video.
I remember vividly the first time I heard this on the radio, back in 1978. I stood transfixed, unable to believe what I was hearing. Not just the unique sound, but at the thought that a 19 yo could write such a song. It was so far ahead of its time. And it introduced me to the genius that is Kate, who has been an essential part of my life ever since.
There could only be one Kate Bush. Many artists tried to be like her but every single one failed. Every single one. God made this beautiful creature called Kate and gave her to us.
Kate was 16 when she sang this , this song has made Kate to be the only British female artist to write, produce and perform a number one single ,and no one has beaten her yet, amazing,I've loved her and her music since day one .
First Kate Bush song I ever heard. I was a 17 year old book nerd in absolute stunned amazement that someone had written a song from the standpoint of Cathy's ghost. It still makes my nerd self so friggin' happy.
Outside of science I can't think of a better example of a genius than Kate Bush. I'm a metal head and rarely play her stuff .. but I know a genius when I hear it. Kate Bush is that rare thing. Cheers 🍺
Your face mate, it's a picture. You've fallen under the captivating spell of Kate same as I did many years ago. There's no escape, you learn to live with it.
Kate Bush is my favorite artist ever, but I only found her 12 or so years ago. This was the first song I heard and her voice was just.. haunting. I could not get it out of my head, and then I listened to her music album by album and was just in awe. She is incredible.
Close, but not right. She never married Heathcliffe though they were soulmates. That’s part of the torment of this tragic tale. Both married other people though they were still obsessed with each other.
I remember seeing this on early MTV and just being mesmerized by her. Of course as a young teenage male who listened to Sabbath and Priest I really didn't share this with my buddies at the time but man I was hooked.
I loved your reactions! The book is not for everybody - for one it's complicated from a narrative perspective. There is an unreliable narrator so we never actually hear Catherine's voice. And the second thing is it is quite unnerving because it doesn't have a happy ending. You feel irritation for the characters and their choices. But it is the closest thing to real life and the complexity of the human character. I would reccomend the film version with Tom Hardy and Charlotte Riley. It was so intense and passionate they ended up falling in love and marrying in real life.
"Wuthering Heights"! Yes, this song by Kate Bush has a phenomenal energy, and the lyrics of the song are quite enigmatic, but very thought-provoking for those who don't know Emily Bronte's eponymous novel. Perfect is the adjective for this combination of singer, song, lyrics, interpretation, arrangement and performance in the video. One of the most beautiful things ever released on the world music scene; visceral! Congratulations on the choice and the analysis too.
I'm age 43 and heard this one here for the first back in 1998.This song here represents the end of the disco era in the late 1970's.It was released in Jan-1978 and hit the roof on the Bilboard charts for most of 1978.
So happy to see a reaction of Kate Bush that is just pure amazement rather than harsh judgement. You're facial expressions were mine when I first heard this song. Just at a loss for words and stunned at how anyone could have a song or music like this. She is by far my favorite artist and she isn't even of my time.
Your reaction was awesome beyond words . Your face told it all. I’m an Iron Maiden fanatic so this music is out of my normal scope. I came across this video by chance and I was totally and I mean totally blown away. Her incredible voice. Her dance her looks, the lyrics and story content. Wow, absolutely incredible. This is the most beautiful song I’ve ever heard in my entire life. She is simply from another realm. A portal to a previous existence from the spirit world . I have no words really. Simply phenomenal .
absolutely love your reactions, so terrific that Millenials love her! She is a one off. I recommend her songs 'The Sensual World' and 'The Fog,' they are absolute masterpieces in my opinion
Kate’s magical isn’t she. She exudes the femininity of the 70’s. I’ll never forget watching her on Countdown on a Sunday night, then hopping on the school bus next morning ready to imitate her dance (red dress version). I bought the single and have loved her inventive work with keyboards ever since.
She projects an innocent sensuality rather than sexual provocation. And you are right about those eyes. There are many sides to her - See her portray a woman driven to madness by her lust for revenge. Well that is how I read it: Wedding List ua-cam.com/video/0ymxgS4XHRA/v-deo.html
Dude, the face you make watching her is basically the same face any normal heterosexual man would make. During this period, Kate Bush was, without any doubts, one of the most beautiful woman in the music industry bar none.
On Kate Bush the inside story CD her greatest hits there's an even better and longer remastered version Kate Bush is so beautiful you could have a sculptor make her into a miniature size and put her on a music box and let it play while she dances around it great reaction my man one of the best reactions I've ever seen your face tells it all look forward to seeing more of your actions my man
This song was my first experience of kate I was 17/18 bought the 12" version and i was hooked I have loads of kate bush still relivent to me now.......
I remember this song from the early 80's it made me feel weird and intreagued and scared. The barber shop I used to go to in Scotland where I lived had pictures of Kate all over the wall n the barber Robert had long wavy hair so as you can imagine the experience of having a short back n sides was a particularly unusual one bbbrrrrt
I used to work in a night club during my late teens and twenties, called the Hip-e Club, during the 90s and 00s. After I heard this song, it was the only one I requested off the dj on regular occasions. Never could I remember who sang it, or what the title was, no matter how many times he told me. I'd ask for 'It's me, Kathy'. 😄 Sorcery, this song.
maverick historian I have this one, plus the Japanese release. There are also U.S. and Canadian versions, but the previously mentioned are my favourites.
It's a great book. Unrequited love and tragedy sums it up really but the ghost of Catherine plays an important role in the story. Kate's interpretation of this is so haunting beautiful it sometimes give me chills.
This song is just wonderful, I love how scary yet passionate and kinda haunting it is. That said, with the chorus repeated so many times if Wuthering Heights was released in the current charts, it would basically be another 'Baby Shark' 🤣
By the way: She was pushed into her world-career by a German TV-Show called "Bios Bahnhof", what's not the only one but her (Kate Bush, Helen Schneider).. The Host was very impressed by art and showed a lot of newcomers. His name was ALFRED BIOLEK, a real sponsor! R.I.P.!!! Kate Bush' 1st TV Appearance WAS at Biolek's show ("Bios Bahnhof") and he LOVED it, she did it barefoot... :o)
Hey dude, I’m a new French subscriber of your channel and I love your reaction, you should start your Mylene farmer journey… lot of French people who follow you, she is huge and loved here in France, you should start with « avant que l’ombre… live Bercy 2006”. Have a great one 😎
Thanx for reaction...I am near 57 years old...and I`m absolute Metal Fan and play guitar....but Kate Bush for me is not a type of music...this hole woman with her songs and videos is ART!
Don't worry my husbands been in love with Kate Bush since 1979, she was a special artist, my favourite from The Kick Inside is A Man With A Child In His Eyes.
dramatic soprano doesn't mean a soprano who sings high, or is dramatic, it means a really heavy, full bodied voice that sings in the soprano range, like the kind you'd find in a Wagner Opera. Kate Bush sings high because her range is soprano, but she has a very light and fluid tone. she's a lyric soprano
Pls, check out the internationally celebrated annual event: The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever. Kate Bush fans gather across the world to recreate her ‘Wuthering Heights’ video in celebration of the song. Participants dressed in red to re-create the music video for Kate Bush’s 1978 chart-topper hit.
Great vid - loved your reactions - I think your reaction may have been quite calm compared to a lot of men in the 1970s...! 😁 Kate Bush was and is iconic - an amazing musical talent. There isn't anyone like her - maybe PJ Harvey, or Bjork, but Kate is in a class of her own... ❤️
Sorry it her greatest hits album is Kate Bush the whole story not the inside story That's Kate Bush the whole story her greatest Hits on CD hasn't even better version a longer version that's remastered also and sounds different
Not Gilmour on that solo. It was Ian Bairnson (from The Alan Parsons Project) who recorded the studio version. On her concert tour, Alan Murphy played the solo. David Gilmour discovered Kate when she was 15 and put up the money for her to record 3 demos of her songs that he picked out, and got her signed with EMI. He later recorded background vocals for her on the song "Pull Out The Pin" from The Dreaming album. Gilmour played guitar on two tracks ("Love And Anger" and "Rockets Tail") from The Sensual World album. They also performed together live a few times (at the Amnesty International Secret Policeman's Ball 3 charity concert, where they did "Running Up That Hill," and Kate appeared at one of Gilmour's solo concerts where she performed "Comfortably Numb" with him).
If she just stood at the mic and sang like Edith Piaf it would still be a great song. But the dance, the moves, the eyes (!!) the whole thing. The camera work is of its age, it uses its technology to reinforce she's a ghost. It totally captures the essence (I think) of the character and the ghost out on the moors. It captures that the character isn't all one way, she's impetuous and made wrong choices (in some of Kate Bush's performances there's a childishness to some of the lyrics which again I think connect to the selfishness and immaturity of the character in her life) but comes back to her one true love, wandering on the moors as a ghost trying to get in through the window. Is there anything better than this? Who can you compare Kate Bush to? In truth, no one. She's her own artist, did her own art form in voice and dance and the whole thing is just wonderful.
i was 12 when this first came out , fell for her head line and sinker try this one love her appreciation of session musicians on this one this cover of Gershwin is so smouldering on her part and genuine in giving her fellow artists time on the video ua-cam.com/video/RkYcD-Kh78o/v-deo.html
There's a 1986 version with new vocals off her best of album. I like it even better since it's not as shrill as this original version. Check it out 😉 ua-cam.com/video/4GbSc5MBC40/v-deo.html
Kate Bush is pure feminine energy in a very powerful being. There was nobody like her at the time, in fact there weren't many women auteurs in 1978, she was something of a pioneer by having full artistic control over her music, videos & staging. Surely a genius.
Wuthering Heights is a wonderful song and kate Bush a complete artist with AN enchanting voice
Indeed - there still isn't anyone like her to this day. Completely unique, all the talent, timeless - one of the few that could genuinely be classified as a genius.
Can you imagine when we heard it for the first time, in 1978. We were blow over and did not know what to think of it.
Couldn't agree more Singing Bee, ooops I mean Lavender Bee. KB is a remarkable artist that transcends every kind of musical genre. For me she also represents the essence of femininity.
The expression on your face watching this is great. This is a truly original song and performance.
JBLETHAL is blown away by this song too
Yeah, he's spellbound. Like everyone else i guess.
Yeah! Everyone goes all saucer-eyed when they hear this song for the first time! All of the reactions are seen are just priceless!
thats why she was successful from the start, she blew us all away and there was no tv show or video clip or concert for us to watch, we bought the vinyl lps. So glad to watch all her songs now on video.
Kate Bush manages to both bring back toxic maculinity's sex drive and women empowerment at the same time. God bless
I remember vividly the first time I heard this on the radio, back in 1978. I stood transfixed, unable to believe what I was hearing. Not just the unique sound, but at the thought that a 19 yo could write such a song. It was so far ahead of its time. So we’ll put. She is incredible
Kate grab my soul away in 1979, at 16. And I thank God she did it !
(From Brazil)
There could only be one Kate Bush. Many artists tried to be like her but every single one failed. Every single one. God made this beautiful creature called Kate and gave her to us.

philip jackson You're thinking of "Man With The Child In His Eyes". This was actually recorded in August '77. She turned 19 in July.
Ah, what a nostalgy! Her face expressions... she really is a ghost calling his Heathcliff. - And, yes, you should read the book. :) It is a classic.
First Kate Bush song I ever heard. I was a 17 year old book nerd in absolute stunned amazement that someone had written a song from the standpoint of Cathy's ghost. It still makes my nerd self so friggin' happy.

Your face mate, it's a picture.
You've fallen under the captivating spell of Kate same as I did many years ago.
There's no escape, you learn to live with it.
I am sure that Kate Bush would be enchanted by your reaction! Watching your emotions pass across your face is poetry in itself!
Your facial expressions says it all.
You should read the book to get the references in this video.
Classic.
Great job, man.
Regards from Brazil.
Kate Bush is my favorite artist ever, but I only found her 12 or so years ago. This was the first song I heard and her voice was just.. haunting. I could not get it out of my head, and then I listened to her music album by album and was just in awe. She is incredible.
She is singing as the ghost calling to her husband who is still alive as she is at the window. It is from the novel Wuthering Heights.
Close, but not right. She never married Heathcliffe though they were soulmates. That’s part of the torment of this tragic tale. Both married other people though they were still obsessed with each other.
Luke u falling like heathcliff brother
She’s such a baby in this video! Amazing she was able to perform like this with her voice, write, and dance at such a young age!
That innocence is real. Kate Bush was 19 when this song was released. Phenomenal.
Thank you UK for giving us such an absolute outstanding music artist and treasure!
I remember seeing this on early MTV and just being mesmerized by her. Of course as a young teenage male who listened to Sabbath and Priest I really didn't share this with my buddies at the time but man I was hooked.
And of course, Kate played the piano wonderfully on the song.
I can also hear a harpsichord a little
It's a shame that most people nowadays have no idea what "Wuthering Heights" is or the story behind the song.
I agree..once read this song means a lot more
We need more Kate Bush reactions !!! ❤🧎♀️
prettiest ghost ever!🏴
It's the one I would chose to be haunted by.
For some reason i love the part where she goes "Wuthering, Wuthering, Wuthering Heights."
I loved your reactions! The book is not for everybody - for one it's complicated from a narrative perspective. There is an unreliable narrator so we never actually hear Catherine's voice. I LOVE THIS SONG I REMEMBER MY YOUTH, KATE BUSH IS AN PERFECT SINGER. 👏👏🇧🇷
I'm age 43 and heard this one here for the first back in 1998.This song here represents the end of the disco era in the late 1970's.It was released in Jan-1978 and hit the roof on the Bilboard charts for most of 1978.
Love your reaction and that you can appreciate a song that is obviously very feminine. Cudos mate.
Pure hypnotic beauty.

At last someone who does their research well done my man . she's the ghost .. I respect you for your looking into things
The Goddess of Art Rock claims another victim
me watching your face during the reaction: yup, that's a celebrity crush
I would also recommend the "red dress" version which I prefer over this one, mainly cause I saw it first so it stuck with me
Your reaction was awesome beyond words . Your face told it all. I’m an Iron Maiden fanatic so this music is out of my normal scope. Kate Bush is a total artist, almost a separate galaxy.
I'm glad that she gains new listeners, still having faithful believers:)
Surely she is not from this world
absolutely love your reactions, so terrific that Millenials love her! She is a one off. I recommend her songs 'The Sensual World' and 'The Fog,' they are absolute masterpieces in my opinion
Kate Bush um ícone na arte e sensibilidade humana
Love Kate Bush, she´s my fav. I follow her since 1978 :-) I have even seen her face to face back in 1997.

I am absolutely obsessed with this song, loved your reaction!
She's delightful.
Totally in love when I first heard this, it never went away.
Beautiful reaction! We were all completely haunted by this song and this artist when it came out. I am still under Kate's spell!
I really enjoy that so young man is listening to this masterpiece.
She projects an innocent sensuality rather than sexual provocation. And you are right about those eyes. There are many sides to her - See her portray a woman driven to madness by her lust for revenge. Well that is how I read it:

This wasn't even going to be on her debut album. Then one night there was a full moon and she decided to write it.
Just can't replicate it. A big inspiration for this Private Eye!
Dude, the face you make watching her is basically the same face any normal heterosexual man would make.
During this period, Kate Bush was, without any doubts, one of the most beautiful woman in the music industry bar none.
I missed her concert in Hammersmith in 2014, as I was on a flight to Amman on that particular day.
Cathy is a ghost and Heathcliff is her great love. Based in Wuthering Heights (1847) novel written by Emily Bronté.
he ends up looking like the village idiot, like so many of us back in the day.

Love Kate Bush!
I was introduced to KB by a friend. Her greatest hits album in the early 1980s. Her zanyness and variety drew me in. A genius.
yes, you have a nice expression. when youlisten this song of Kate Bush..!you going soft...! good !
Your in love, as we all were in the seventies when we first heard her sing.
I used to work in a night club during my late teens and twenties, called the Hip-e Club, during the 90s and 00s. That album cover is a unique work of art! I would love to buy a framed copy to hang upon my wall.
maverick historian I have this one, plus the Japanese release.
She was so adorable.

That said, with the chorus repeated so many times if Wuthering Heights was released in the current charts, it would basically be another 'Baby Shark' 🤣
Her and David Bowie had lessons with Lindsay Kemp. He was involved in movement etc. He died recently check his work out
She's a genius. Please react to Peter Gabriel featuring Kate Bush, "Don't Give Up"
By the way: She was pushed into her world-career by a German TV-Show called "Bios Bahnhof", what's not the only one but her (Kate Bush, Helen Schneider)..
She was only 19 I think when she made this video. Love her
After finishing this recording the producer remarked 'now I have peaked'.
I can understand his sentiment at that time.
I love this music and her interpretation.. thanks for reacting to her!❤
A MAJOR TEAR-JERKER NOT TO MENTION EXTREMELY BEAUTIFUL!!
Kate was and she´ll be a truly artist of soul
Hey dude, I’m a new French subscriber of your channel and I love your reaction, you should start your Mylene farmer journey… lot of French people who follow you, she is huge and loved here in France, you should start with « avant que l’ombre… live Bercy 2006”. Have a great one 😎

Don't worry my husbands been in love with Kate Bush since 1979, she was a special artist, my favourite from The Kick Inside is A Man With A Child In His Eyes.
Love Yr reaction to this song you was really into this
She is beautiful, right? 😉Kate Bush, is one hekk of a lady. Woooow
Kate Bush was signed by David Gilmour of pink floyd. Think he played the solo,at the end
Souljar Ian Bairnson on lead guitar. Dave later played on "Rocket's Tail" and "Love and Anger" 1989. Plus backing vocals on "Pull Out The Pin" 1982.

Amazing cover of this song is by band Liv Moon.
thank you, I just heard it!!! it's awesome.
@@vanessaruiz4705 I'm glad you like it. :)
The guitar player at the end is... David GILMOUR from Pink Floyd. He produces this album from Kate Bush. Somewhere he is her musical Godfather.
Not Gilmour on that solo. It was Ian Bairnson (from The Alan Parsons Project) who recorded the studio version. On her concert tour, Alan Murphy played the solo. David Gilmour discovered Kate when she was 15 and put up the money for her to record 3 demos of her songs that he picked out, and got her signed with EMI. thank you ...you can coment Mylène farmer, French singer!

What a scandal her voice was. You hated her or you loved her. And what an unlikely hit, defying every musical structure that usually makes hits.
There's a 1986 version with new vocals off her best of album. I like it even better since it's not as shrill as this original version. Check it out 😉 ua-cam.com/video/4GbSc5MBC40/v-deo.html
I think the original "shrill" version is best.
Listen to pat benatars version and see what you think
