I always put my hair care products in a zip lock bag. Then I turn it upside down and put that bag in another ziplock bag. This helps to ensure if something gets broken or cracked it wont leak out onto my clothes.

As a stylist I agree. But I would like to remind people if you're going to a beach location and are not a fan of covering your hair I would wait till you return to get new highlights because you may end up brighter or brassier after all that sun exposure

I own the Revlon travel hair dryer with the folding handle. I had one for several years that finally quit working. I had a difficult time finding one with a folding handle. This one works very well. I mainly bought this one to use on cruises since the dryers on board are very weak. I recommend this one without reservation. I did purchase it on Amazon.

I use both a shampoo bar and a conditioner bar when I travel. I cut the bars in half, because they are larger than I need. They last forever, and do a great job. I have long hair down my back - and I’m pleased with the results of the bars. I wrap each bar in a washcloth, keeps them clean, useful when bars are still a little wet, and, I have a washcloth to use in the countries that don’t provide them.

I've given up traveling with my favorite shampoo since the explosion of the ones I packed a couple of years ago. I actually used the one by Human Gear. Not sure what happened there. But it made a huge mess, though contained, it wasn't pretty because my shampoo was black. Now I just use the hotel provided ones I collected over the years. I have to say, some of them are high quality! I think I will try the soup kind of these days. Even though I am Asian, my hair is thick and curly, like an afro hair if I don't straighten it. So, my straightener is always traveling with me. I did buy a travel-size straightener before but it broke very quickly and it didn't do much good anyways.
Thank you so much for your tips and hacks! I've always enjoyed reading your viewers comments as well. I've learned so much, even as an long-time experienced traveler. Misty, you definitely aren’t the only one that needs a fan to sleep! I have purchased fans on trips before, because I couldn’t sleep. I even have a fan app on my phone for when I travel. I do have a small one I bought for my daughter to take on a cruise several years ago, but she said it wasn’t loud enough. If you ever find a small, old one, let me know!

@@daynad8104 I bought a small Marpac Rhom sound machine. It is lightweight small, round in shape . I like the white noise- seamless sound. On other machines I’ve had you could hear a click when the soundtrack was repeating. I know it’s not a fan but it works great. Rechargeable and the charge lasts long. I even found a zipper hard case for it so it stays safe in my luggage. I found these items on amazon. Sweet dreams!

I don’t use a travel size curling or flat iron, but I do make sure to buy dual voltage ones so they can be used most anywhere in the world with just an adapter. Converters aren’t reliable, and per my electrical engineer husband, they aren’t always safe.

I love shampoo bars. I have tried 2 different brands and they were both good. One was a heart shaped bar and the other was a rectangle and both did a good job of cleaning my hair without making it feel yucky. I always travel with a deep conditioning hair masque - especially Colleen Rothschild brand - my favorite. With every trip I work on condensing my liquids bag to try making my carry on lighter each trip. I go to the Caribbean for 2 weeks every year with just a carry on and personal item.

It's been 4 1/2 years since I've flown anywhere other than my parents' house, so I just got myself a whole batch of full size toiletries, the same ones I use at home, that I leave there - works great regardless of whether I'm flying or driving, and if we go on a road trip from there, I just take those ones, since space isn't as crucial. I still bring with me the things I will need if I'm driving and spending the night somewhere in the middle, or what I would need if I got stuck overnight in a layover city, but that's it (I don't wear makeup and I don't style my hair other than a braid or ponytail, so I don't take as much stuff with me, but the concept still stands: I stick to just the bare bones of what I would/will need). Generally, driving that stretch takes 2 days, so I will shower the night before I leave, so I don't have to do it the overnight en route (almost always take 2 days for the drive, and most of the time it's in the winter, so I don't generally tend to get sweaty, so I don't usually end up needing another shower before I get where I'm going).
If I ever fly again to somewhere other than my parents' house, I'll be taking 1.25 oz bottles of my liquid toiletries that come in big bottles, and I have a travel size toothpaste tube that I emptied and filled with the kind I use (when it's completely full, it lasts me 5-6 weeks).
With stacking things in my liquids bag, I find it entirely depends on the size and shape of the bag and size and shape of the toiletries I'm packing whether stacking horizontally or vertically works better. If there's anything I'm worried might leak, I put it in a brand new snack size ziploc, then put it in the liquids bag.

RE: bar shampoos - I have been using the HiBar shampoo and conditioner and really enjoy it. I have ordered a few varieties of Vida Bars (shampoo and conditioner) and will try them after I return to the States. I let them dry and then wrap them in waxed paper and put them in a small ziploc baggie. I have curly hair so I have a collapsible diffuser - you can find them on Amazon and Sally Beauty for around $20.

I use shampoo bar and I like it. I’m picky about what I use because I have fine curly hair.

RuskPro dry shampoo. AG Hair dry shampoo comes in colors which is especially helpful when you have darker hair and area possibly heavy handed. Tigi rockaholic dirty secret dry shampoo and they make a dry conditioner spray.

I have never had any luck with shampoo bars. My hair is super curly and medium length. I never can get those shampoo bars to lather worth a crap. Just my opinion

Watching this over 6 months later. Dry shampoo tip: try out the powder dry shampoo from brands like Odele, Trader Joe's, or Billie. They're amazing and you get way more uses out of the deceivingly small container.

@@TravelTipsbyLaurie theres so many out there now. Depends on how much grit you like. I find the Odele gives me a softer volumizing feel.

I received a travel sized flat iron in a case for free from Ulta in some sort of deal. I wouldn’t have bought one but it is handy. R&Co dry shampoo is my favorite for my thin fine hair. It gives me nice volume.

Hats are an important thing to take travelling. You do not want to get sun burn on your head, you could end up with skin cancer.

They do not, but on my travel hacks videos you can use a 100% cotton sock or an oven mitt if it makes you feel better. I have never used those. Thanks for your time!
