Refreshing to watch a pack with me where the goal is to take the right amount of stuff, not just the least amount of stuff. I find the minimalists take all the fun out of it, and won’t ever travel with more than a carryon.
My thing when it comes to packing is it’s better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it so i over pack and to be honest I do end up using the extra stuff I pack because when u go on vacation u have to be ready for anything

I actually write down my itinerary too and I write down what I will wear for each day…morning, day and night…each expedition is different… Writing it down helps to get dress in the morning. I once travelled with someone who had clothes all over the room trying to decide what she was going to wear. Taking photos on your phone of each outfits is the best idea…it makes packing for your next trip even faster. It took me years to buy the right travel clothes. I can now pack into a carry on 14 days worth of clothing with the help of packing cubes ..(I started out many years ago with large baggies that also works) Note: on long hauls with multiple stops it might be best to use a 24 inch luggage instead of carry on. A 24 inch is very easy to manage but needs to be checked in. A checked bag means you don’t have to haul your luggage with you through multiple airports and makes going through security check points that much faster especially if you don’t have much time between each flights.
One thing you didn’t mention was when packing the suitcase make sure the heavy stuff is at the bottom. Trying to manoeuvre a top heavy rolling suitcase is not fun.
I prefer to roll the outfits together so i can just “grab n go” without digging through my whole suitcase. It also helps with keeping track of everything. I just roll a t-shirt, shorts, underwear and socks together and just re-use a few bras so i pack those separately then i line up the rolls in the suitcase and fill in the extra space with the “non rollables”, toiletrie bag, shoes etc.
I packed 14 days of clothes and shoes for me and my daughter in one rolling suitcase, then put that suitcase in the larger size so we could bring home souvenirs. I accomplished this by putting daily outfits together in a vacuum sealed bag per day.
One of the positives with sharing a suitcase is it really forces you to take what you need/will definitely wear. Having an itinerary is key to effective packing too. It works even better for me since I only wear neutral color clothing so just about all my outfits are interchangeable. Even though I get at least 2 free checked bags with most airlines, it definitely does make traveling easier sharing 2 checked bags vs checking 4 individual bags (I come from a family of 4). Great video!!
Loved this suitcase packing! Your tips were super helpful and I can relate to the struggle of overpacking. Planning outfits based on an itinerary is genius, and those packing cubes are a game-changer. Thanks for sharing your personal experience and practical advice. Keep it up!
Yikes! Dirty shoes directly in? I’d put them in bags and on the other side. Though I’d like to say this is the most helpful packing video I’ve seen. That cube trick to partly close it and keep stuffing is great. I’m trying that on my next trip
I do that. I type more or less what we will be doing and I plan accordingly. I’ve gotten so good at packing my husband’s, daughter’s, and my clothes in one medium-large size luggage.
Well, if you fold up the bottom about an inch or so first before you roll you can use that to tuck the garment into itself. It’s called an Army Roll, no need for bags. If you pack the rolled item vertically in say a 20 inch carryon, you can double your space for more clothing.
I can't even begin to express how THANKFUL I am to have come across this video! I had never even heard of packing cubes. You saved me so much stress and time! THANK YOU!!!
I’m going to Florida for 2 weeks this year and you definitely sold me on the packing cubes. Funny thing is, the entire video I was getting a little stressed about space but then I remembered after like 10 minutes of stressing that I’m not sharing a suit case! 😂 definitely will be rewatching this when the packing begins haha

This is such good video. My issue is that I am 6ft5 with foot size 14-15 watching this and only my sneakers take like half of it, hoodie I can forget it's like backpack on it own
I too like to roll up my clothes AND secure in place with rubber bands. Furthermore, to maximize space and protect my clothes from any potential liquid spillage, I use air compression bags for my clothing. I also try to pack as light as possible to pack more. A large lightweight scarf comes in handy for your carry on in case it gets cool on the plane ride.

This is AMAZING. Just what I needed. And great point about some clothing items not being roll-friendly. I’d used the rolling method but realize some things would be better laid flat. With all the travel woes and delays, I am committed to a total carry-on travel sitch. Thank you!
I fold my clothes(Kon-Mari method) for my packing cubes. I have 3 different types of packing cubes(regular, compression, and clear), including the ones you have. Still get that same amount of stuff, and my clothes don’t end up wrinkled.
very insightful. I recently bought some compression packing cubes from Amazon and waiting on them. I have a 20" duffel bag and hopefully it will fit under the plane seat
