I just played against that deck again and had the exact same thought lol

Made one yesterday, the ramp was done primarily by combining spelunking and the kamigawa saga that lets you play an aditional land (2 mana) with the bounce deserts!!! its crazy fast and you can even put a couple of the flashy desert wurms that when die you ramp another desert! (pog)
total ramp/land fetch pieces:
- 3x kamigawa saga
- 2x OTJ spell that ramps a desert or basic land with spree (3 mana)
- 3x spelunking
- 3x spinewood(??) armadillo, cicle for 3 life and a desert/basic land
- 4 Hydra for treasures/late game bomb (specially with cavern of souls)
- 3x The OTJ plot 3 with ETP -> draw + 1 mana
One cool thing that we can do is to play cavern of souls and boucing them back in order to choose another creature type! (Gotta make those 20 power hasty hydras uncounterable! :P)

For the disguised creature, the rules say that it's mana value is 0 so it was a good thing that you flip it
