We need Wubby for the next season
That crypt ghast set symbol looks just like the one on my proxies I ordered for the dual lands lol
Respect for Sengir old school deck ;)
Not to sound biased, but it is always such a pleasure to see Spice8Rack and Rhystic Studies on one of these.
Maldhound would make it a table of magic content GOATs
@@tatecarter60all 3 and the prof would be the best episode
Why in the world would that sound biased?

Prof is just such a lovely person who can't stand to see his friends put themselves down - and since that's Spice's favorite form of comedy (I feel it, it's one of mine too), these interactions are quite common.
This whole table is amazing and I wish it wasn't parasocial to say I want to be friends with all of them. (Prof, I'm the drummer in a nationally touring band that maybe a few thousand people have heard of, get your people in contact with mine!)
@@doylerudolph7965 prof get this guy on your show!
If anyone still doubted whether Prof started playing as early as he claims, admitting that Baron Sengir was the coolest thing ever has ended all debate.

The backup backup name for the series
Sounds like a killer Name for a podcast with Spice and Sam 🤣
I had a college friend who was playing with Unhinged. His opponent tried putting Cheaty Face into play, but he had a creature that required everything he said to be in the form of a question.
They had to ask a judge, “Does the question have to resolve?”
The episodes where you have Spice8Rack and RhysticStudy are always such a treat. Everyone at the table has such a good rapport. My only regret is that the game ends.
It doesn’t always end.
Kenji is also goated
@@TolarianCommunityCollegeafter all, you can’t always wins

@@stikkontakt4 Kenji is THE goat
As a non native English speaker the best thing about Shuffle Up & Play is that I learn the correct pronounciation of so many Magic Characters, when Prof censors the swear words
I love seeing how long this video is already knowing they're all running unoptimized decks.
Magic in its purest form.
Playing one commander game in the tavern that goes to last call when I realize I never got my sandwich and that's why I'm so hungry and fuzzyheaded because I also had three ciders. So then I just scoop to go see if the late night pizza place is still open.
@@ValerieEnriquezmemories
I had a game recently with my friends that lasted 4 hours. Granted two of them were completely new to mtg and we were playing 2 40k/Lotr precons. 6 or 7 boardwipes were played and it was exhausting. Would do it again any time
Man, I just love the way Sam plays Magic. I can't imagine anyone more chill to have at your table, you know? The anecdotes and wry jokes add a real, "We're playing poker with an old friend" feeling to the game that is so pleasant. Even if he was beating you down, I can't imagine feeling anything other than like, "Man, this dude is cool to hang out with..."
you're so right like the way he wholeheartedly was acknowledging how cool it was that Kenji got Nin and did what Sam meant to do
Ah yes good ole poker with an old friend nothing like sitting at a table drunk off your ass trying to out lie the person you probably know better than yourself! Yep sounds like magic with Sam lmao
The abject horror on Spice's face upon realizing how many artifacts/enchatments Kenji actually had gives me life.
"Now, this is still a vampire though, correct?"
"That... was never a vampire."
The delivery on that line was incredible! I love the banter!
YEAAAAAA BUDDAAAY - LET'S GET IT
OMG! It's Numot!
Was so cool to see you on this channel! Absolutely love when magic communities collide :D
Please come back with an optimized land destruction deck, and show them what "#1 Mythic God Gamer" means !
I love the accidental(?) ludo-narrative harmony of the nostalgia deck game have tons to do with time; two players with future sight (with the time-traveling magus arriving before the enchantment he's inspired by), Spice in a time loop of repeating the same turn of recurring the dead to recur the memories of magic to evoke glimpses of what's to come. Even Prof's vampires fitting the theme as immortal beings that never age, with Prof himself referring to his life total like his age as if a kind of Benjamin Button type.
god i love it when mister rhystic study starts talking, i immediately get taken to a diferent state of mind where i expect to be intrigued and educated.
Its a voice we have all learned to love. A combination of calm confidence / slightly dead inside / humility / urging you to find beauty in this world.
@@noteverydayAnd then he makes a dad joke and dabs. Somehow this also makes complete sense for his persona.
Welcome back to another episode of Snuggle Up and Play, where the Professor sends Sam from Rhystic Studies to sleep by reading the lullaby "Sorin's Vengeance".
Now I'm remembering that time Rhystic Studies read Go the f*ck to sleep on his channel and am going to go back and watch it.
Bring back this era of Commander!
Loved the video prof, and fabulous guests as always.
Glad you enjoyed it!
You know Sam has a phd in Italian when he even reads Spanish with an Italian accent
I'm Just going to say it. This is how commander was meant to be played. This was such a wonderful nostalgic flashback. All of the old cards and all of the classic plays. Honestly the best commander episode on any channel in a long time.
I for one was excited to see Baron Sengir. Got the old thumbnail bait and switch. I ain't mad at ya
Dev on Shuffle up & play when?
Only 20 mins in but I need to say that I freaking love the banter, this group is fantastic together!
Love these folks.
'When we gather together, We make magic", well said (brought a tear to the eye). Brings back the memories of playing with friends from back in the day. Loved the episode!
36:40 you can tell how excited he his to go get the thing by how he runs past the camera lmao
This episode was SOOOO good. Such a trip to the past, to those old games with my friends at the beginning of the Commander journey (2011ish)... Table of 8 with planes (Planechase). Gosh, so good memories.
Amazing game... even better players.
"Is otter a sex thing?" caught me so off guard lmao. Happy pride ya'll.

I adore spice, they just got some of that good old fashioned charisma that makes every video with them fun.

Saying Spice8Rack supports and engaged in the British's colonization of Africa is an Antiphrasis. Because as we all know, Spice is a Commie Pinko.
@DocHudson420 Is this the individual that doesn't understand blatantly obvious sarcasm?
Hey prof! @tolariancommunitycollege I just wanted to thank you for getting me into magic. The last 6 months i’ve been dealing with my puppy and somewhat of a down period, i found your channel and have been binging since. You made me buy my first commander deck, made step out of my comfortzone and i took contact with local players here in Norway whom i have been playing with the last weeks. If we ever would be crossing paths, whether in the states or anywhere else in the world, i would like to shake your hand and thank you in person. I now have a new passion, and some new friends. Thank you!
This video is proof that more powerful magic doesn't necessarily mean more fun magic. This was an absolute blast!
That moustache is incredible. Spice has dangerous levels of swag.
It´s giving nonbinary Waluigi in the best way possible
The pod alone is a guarantee for fun and entertainment. I can only speak for myself, but if you would be doing this every year forward in this "composition" I would be happy to watch it all (and every other episode of Shuffle Up & Play
Prof out here with real spirit of the format energy. You pick a thing you think is cool, put in things that fit the theme and make it work, and after three hours you've finally got a winner.
36:37 And again, Prof runs off camera to grab his bag of counters!
Confetti and all! Thanks editors!
Love episodes like this. Really captures why everyone fell in love with the format in the first place, just silly goofy (cept for Kenjis lol) decks that we loved. Didnt matter what was good and what wasnt
This format used to build railroads!
"we're just normal men" is such an obscure reference lmao
It truly depends on the corner of the internet you're on, my little corner has so many people referencing it all of the time
The "It's a top game" joke, followed by bemused tension that was expertly cut. I rewatched that joke like five times each funnier than the last.
LMAO! Oh god... the Dad energy from the Prof was such a great fucking opener.... I AM DYING!!! Like just
"Is Otter a sex thing"
thinking it was was going to be immediately dropped and then actually having it mildly litigated... I AM JUST LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The mind sludge call was great, and the BioShock 2 multiplayer reference I knew exactly what that was!
Prof: My deck is worse than a precon.
Relateable.
I too can relate with my 2 mono-colour decks
i would describe Spice's aesthetics in this vido to be otter because of the mustache and long locks and Sam looks like a twunk because of his medium frame and his face gives me "new dad that doesn't wanna have to fight anyone but is not afraid to if needed".
I love how the "format" being played in this episode and the length of the video just match so beautifully. This is the type of Commander I learned to play with! Also Spice and Sam have such insane chemistry
Cant believe you got Dr. Disrespect on Shuffle Up & Play, thats sick.
"Mom, can we have Dr. Disrespect?"
"No, we've got Dr. Disrespect at home"
Dr. Disrespect at home:
Hmm. Prof with the Spanish vampires?? He's looking a lot more aligned with the legion of dusk than his merfolks this episode 😂
58:44 "Well, this is a top episode, so"
"First off, how dare you. Second off, very funny."
This whole interaction had me cackling. Poor Spice 😂
this and the "Otter"-discussion were my favourite bits of the entire episode. Though "Damn, the card only says he/her" "HA! I get out of it by being weird!" is a contender as well
rhystic and spice are just the literal best together, and I would watch them play games and riff forever. god I love them.
KENJI "NUMOTTHENUMMY" EGASHIRA!!!!! Yeh baby now we talking!!😍😍
the goat himself !!!
38:08
It’s Sam!
Loving Spice8Rack Gary Oldman 1992 Dracula look 😅😅
I have to say Prof, this was my absolute favorite episode of Shuffle Up & Play yet! What a fantastic group, and it's even better that it ended the way it did. Honestly reminded me of when I made my first commander deck when Shards of Alara came out (I built a Kresh hydras deck, boy was that a fun time) and all the fun I had with my friends before things got so complex. Seeing that final play really made me stoked, thank you so much for the wonderful entertainment and making me feel like I played a game with old friends.
It's always a treat having Spice or Sam in these episodes, but having them together turns it into a feast!
I look forward to the week long video essay they come up with as a collaboration.
@@ValerieEnriquez they could talk about the most obscure thing ever for a week and I'd still watch that video
I love when its just banter back and forth for a while with no actual gameplay. It's genuinely just fun and feels like my own table when I play.
Cant wait for that Behind the Campus video Prof!
what an amazing pod, playing the best style of commander, the slower, chill meandering kind.
Always a delight to see Sam and Spice across from each other, and Kenji enabled so many fun moments.
Really, top notch episode, and fantastic work on the editing too
I met spice at Mox boarding house and they are so genuinely nice it was really cool seeing somebody that really inspired me to play commander and now some of my favorite commanders
There is truly nothing better then shuffle up and play in the magic community, especially with rhystic and spice. What a treat. Thanks for keeping magic fun professor.
The last second sentiment is the perfect capstone for this episode. Magic was indeed made, and the world is a better place for it. Thank you to everyone involved in making this show.
Congrats on 1million subs. Little early your at 999k but enjoying the shuffle up and plays and as one of the new subs feel the need to say your kinda getting me into Magic the Gathering.
Spice looking like Disco Crowley [affectionate]
Looks like bedtime can wait, shuffle up & play ep just dropped
Prof, I absolutely love watching you and your friends play decks you genuinely feel love for. This episode feels so good!!
That has got to be one of my favorites I've seen! Great group there and great idea of recreating your first commander decks!
The Bioshock 2 multiplayer reference reformatted my brain. How could I forget?
Grats on the win Prof! Also love the otter/twink chat in pride month, look forward to season 3!
STACKED guests on this episode all 3 are incredible
So the "plug it in, plug it in" glade commercial jingle was based on an old song that goes "rub it in, rub it in". Prof going for the extra deep cuts
We can see that Spicy8rack of chest hair creeping up. Spice is definitely an otter
* munches popcorn and snacks with great glee * Been waiting for this, let's go!
I haven't been keeping up with Spice so I haven't seen them in a while but damn that hair and stache are majestic
I love this episode/idea. It honestly just inspired me to try to remember all of the cards I had in my first commander deck I built, Reya Dawnbringer. I had just gotten back into Magic around the Shards of Alara block when I discovered what commander was and Reya was my favorite legend from the past. Talk about nostalgia! Also it shows how differently I thought about deck building back then.
Love when Sam and Spice get together. It’s pure magic. Also I’m pretty sure spice is in twink death but like go off with the confidence.
Nice to see you got Victor Zsasz into Magic
Fantastic episode. Loved the energy and banter from everyone.
I still have my first two EDH decks, both are tribal. The very first is Olivia Voldaren that does vampire shenanigans and the second is Grimgrin Corpse-Born that goes wide with zombies also, (inadvertently) having a couple of infinite combos.
My first deck was a monoblue fish tribal. Running all existing fish creatures. I called it "All-Blue" - a reference to One Piece.
Spice looks like when you hit "randomize" on a character creation menu.
Brutal. Thank you.
@Spice8Rack now, to be fair, I never said that's a bad thing!
The heaven bit was funny. Good job editor
This episode made me so happy. I laughed so hard so many times and loved seeing the smiles around the table being more important than anything else. I love it!
Baron Sengir mentioned, Resleevables brain activated
For the record, Spice is definitely an otter given the body hair
I liked this episode a lot! Lots of nostalgia, and the slower game pace led to some really fun conversations!
Such an amazing episode. I could watch this pod forever. Thanks TCC
Love the Suspiria shirt, Rhystic!
Freaking fantastic, Prof! Huge thanks for another great season of this wonderful show, and so happy to see Spice & Sam back for a finale.
Each of yinz always have so much fun and the banter between you guys always puts a smile on my face.
Thanks for continuing to be such amazing people in the mtg community! Love you guys!❤
Can't wait to see what new and exciting stuff season 3 brings forth. Would love to have more F&B, and other card games from time to time. Maybe even doing a quick stint into pokemon would be fun! I've never played, but I collected the cards growing up (and played the SHIT out of most of the games!)
And as for mtg, I think having Gavin, Kibler, and Josh on for a game of Archenemy could be fun. But the question is, who gets to be the Archenemy?😂
I loved this group. I enjoyed watching this all the way through even though I rarely play EDH anymore. Thank you for bringing these wonderful guest together!
Hands down my favourite episode, you guys are the best!
Thank you for this nostalgic game
Let’s go! Love getting Spice, Rhystic, and Kenji together!
Spice and Rhystic have the best chemistry
Wow what a fun episode! Love the dynamic you all have.
The Professor is always able to bring in our community’s BEST as guests for his videos because he himself is amongst our BEST! Fantastic video Professor, ❤❤❤
Spice strikes me as a more otter. Unless they're like secretly shredded, so I guess they'd be a wolf?
Yeah twinks don't get nice facial hair. That's the whole point of the otter, a hairy twink
Happy pride to all otters, twinks, bears and tops thanks to Shuffle Up and Play
Thanks for this amazing finale !
This is now one of my favorite mtg gameplay videos with the commander nostalgia Game Knights one.
An amazing season, every video really got across that feeling of a bunch of friends having fun. ❤
This video in particular made me very aware that my first deck was Thromok the Insatiable and it is very slow by todays standards. It took years to put together and was a collaboration between all of my MTG playing friends ideas and cards. It is a collection of treasured memories and I love it dearly for that.
I'm happy to have supported season 2. Here's to many more!
NICE
This entire episode no kidding I’ve been smiling, laughing, and just it’s brighten my whole day. I watched it in bits across the day as I’m sick with the flu and feeling down but, honestly this has been the best medicine and TCC always has been. I can’t pick a favourite anecdote but I will say thank you so much to all guests, workers, and Prof and team! Until season 3 it’s time to gather, make magic, and shuffle up and play!
Yaaaaaaaaay, one of the best commander games I've watched! Thank you Prof, Spice, Kenji, Sam and all the amazing team behind SU&P! I hope to see more of it and more of TCC!!!
Nothing better than having lunch and watching my favorite guys play the season finale
Love that we're ending the season with four of the best twinks on UA-cam.
This was such a treat. Absolutely peak, to use the common parlance.
Prof, you and the crew knocked it out of the park. I think this is the best episode of content-creator-commander I've ever seen.
Lmao the one card shuffle! Spice is always such a treat, all of these guests are fantastic
