Be safe Jay/Paris. Just feel lucky you’re not in the States watching all the craziness of this presidency. Emotionally it’s been constant feelings of anxiety and or finding hope and inspiration in the little things in our daily life. Lots of anxiety dealing with this election. Stay safe everyone.
That anxiety stretches all the way over here too - my property manager asks me about it literally every time I see her - but we'll get through that and the rest of what follows together!
if you remember to submerge your shower head regularly into water and white vinegar, it will take off the limestone often and you don't have the replace the shower heard all the time. Hi Jay. Thank you for being so upbeat. Even as cases of cv19 surge and hospitals fill up especially in states that failed to adopt scientifically effective protocol, our White House administration still denies it says no more covid in the states. So I guess that means we’re cured? And on the eve of our National election, stress levels, tensions and disagreements are through the roof even within households. Question though, is anyone allowed to go to work now in Paris? And if yes, would you be allowed to film since an essential part of your profession is filming?
Crazy that I really only found you because of the last lockdown as I was wondering what was happening in France and your videos popped up. Been a huge fan since. Thanks for sharing Paris with us all.
Morning Jay! In Washington DC, they call it a lockdown or quarantine-lockdown. It’s strange the French don’t use the term quarantine, which comes from the Italian word for 4O (quaranta). During the plague, ships had to anchor for 40 days before landing in port because, amazingly accurate for the time, they believed that plague spread when these ships entered the city (often bringing infected rats and people). Confinement was a term often used to describe when women would stay out of sight until they had their baby. Cause, you know,no one wanted to see the reality of how babies were born! Seriously?! 😱👶 So birth some new Vlogs! Happy Confinement!
The french word is "quarantaine". It is a little old fashion to use now because the former mandatory 40 days is no more the norm. Different duration of lockdown.
Quarantaine is only used when refering to people who might be carrying the disease. "Confinement" = "lockdown" is for everyone, regardless of status. That's the reason
Quarantine is isolation of people who are infected or suspected to be infected. We're not in quarantine as we are allowed out individually to buy food and to exercise for up to 1 hour a day, children will still be going to school and crèches, and a good number of people will still be going to work. We are also allowed to visit relatives in care homes.
It is good to hear that someone else feels the same way about their projects as I do! As we will all get eventually around to fixing it. ! the UK got lockdown again tonight I feel your pain of living in a small space, back to home working for me..
my kids made it out of germany and france a few weeks ago current status london till november 3 - then finally after 4 months they are headed back to the states - JFK after a very successful carting season for grandson despite corona in and about life.
Hubby and I just got back from a short holiday. We were on a boat in a canal when the lockdown was announced. There was a chance that the locks would be closed and we would be stuck but we weren’t. We are now home safe. Guess we won’t be be hosting an expat Thanksgiving this year!

@@JaySwanson There is a district of Paris that is never visited in Parisian vlogs intended for tourists. And for good reason, very few know it. This small district preserved from tourists is therefore rather populated by the people who live there themselves, the students, and those for whom Paris has no more secrets, like me. :) This neighborhood is special in several ways. It is a village of artists which offers many works hidden along its alleys, squares and parks. But also an astonishing water source which offers slightly sulphurous water at 28 ° (Place Verlaine). It is therefore necessary to cool the water to consume it. There is also on this square, a swimming pool classified as a Paris monument by its interior and exterior architecture, it is also one of the oldest swimming pools in the capital. Certain alleys of "La buttes aux cailles" have very colorful and totally atypical houses on Parisian soil (rue Crémieux for example). It is a hidden district which not only being very pretty is also very lively. Many streets are bordered by the terraces of cafes, pubs, and many diverse restaurants ranging from Basque cuisine to Mexican cuisine, passing through traditional French cuisine mixed with Asian flavors. The prices are often very correct due to the large presence of students. For a good vlog about it, you really have to devote time to it, as much for the preliminary visits as to consult its history and discover all its many secrets. The best is still to go there when the weather is very nice. The terraces are packed with people having a good time. I hope you'll follow my tip and will discover a neighborood (better during spring or summer) that will enjoy you and your subscribers and just few people knows in Paris. Hi Jay, noticed two things while you were out running - Firstly you did not have a mask? Maybe one in your pocket in case you had to get near anyone and secondly I spotted my favourite posh restaurant that used to be an old train station, in the background. It's a great idea to have project goals!
Yep - mask in pocket - they aren't required for running or cycling, but I have it for entering/exiting my building and grabbing croissants at the end ;)
You can use this map to make the 1km radius around your place so you know which streets your allowed in (www.mapdevelopers.com/draw-circle-tool.php) I just printed one out and am highlighting my walks everyday so I visit every street! I wanted to do this during the first confinement but didn't have a printer. Just an idea I thought i'd share to anyone in Paris.
Thank you very much. My estimates were about right but it's nice to know exactly how far you can go. One thing - this link didn't actually work for me but if you just put in mapdevelopers.com & follow the link to maptools you'll get there.

I was going to ask you about the headphones. I have the old model, then one it got stolen from you, and I can see you got the new one. How is it compared with the old?
It's amazing - especially for the active noise cancelling on the microphone during phone calls. Makes a massive difference to the party on the other end
@@JaySwanson Ah, yeah. That is one major issue with the old ones. Once I started using my Apple AirPods for my video-calls, people realized how noisy the Bose's are. Now I only use them for music listening and not really for talking. And for traveling, if one of these days they allow us to climb on an airplane again 🙄
No real increase to the lockdown here in Oregon. Our governor is actually relaxing COVID requirements for schools to allow them to increase their attendance by 3X, while we are setting new records every day...
Yeah, I still don’t understand why the US keeps relaxing restrictions when it’s getting worse. Although, I went to Walmart and toilet paper started disappearing again.... on the east coast we pay attention to Europe and here we go again! 😱😳
@@erikat5678 There is a certain segment of society that believes COVID is a hoax, they dismiss over 200k dead, but cry every year on 911 where 3k died. One would think an event the equivalent of nearly 10 911's per month for a year would have a greater effect on people.
Yay for the new switch. I've been whining about not being able to travel out of the US which seems so minimal compared to restricted local travel, that really sucks. I admire your disciplined approach to lockdown. Cheers 😎

Or back and forth in front of your building? We know you can ride a bike, so it's not that. Or DO we? Glad to see you up and about and not under the covers asking why bother. Although that COULD be fun because your loving followers could surely come up with 2,784 reasons why.... Surely? No, Absolutely!
Yep! Limited to 1km over 1hr - pretty tight restriction - and so far it looks like a mixed bag on how well it's being respected so we'll see if things get more restrictive in the coming days and weeks
Hi Jay great video. Sadly this will Probably we like this the next 5-7 Years. And then if you don't get " bill gates vaccine" then you probably won't be allowed to do much in the world. Be safe it's nice u can outside for some "sun".
Yeah! The sunshine helps a lot - worth the walk =)
@@JaySwanson is it possible for you to do a zoom q & a?
Happy Halloween! 🎃 👻
Happy expat Halloween ! Hang in there with the isolation from humanity. Guess some more introspective of life with the lockdown. Be well and safe
Never hurts to reflect a bit =D Stay safe too!
Je peux toujours compter sur toi me faire rire!!!! Hope I said that correctly!
...*pour me faire tire!
Hugs from Utah...
Hugs back atcha!
Good luck routine is a good thing
Lockdown is very strict in France is it ?
Great volg
That’s why Bezos is a gazillionaire with all your Amazon packages. Lol.
Single handedly 😂😂
Salut Jay, pour ton problème de calcaire achètes ça : " CILLIT bang Adieu au calcaire. " www.cillitbang.fr/la-gamme/enlever-crasse-ou-calcaire/pistolet-adieu-au-calcaire/
Tu en trouveras dans les magasins.
Super! Je vais le chercher!
Joyeux confinement!
I tend to use lockdown
as the English word of choice
but I am not the centre of English usage
being an English speaking migrant in Germany.
And the talk here is of "neue Corona-Regeln"
or "new corona regulations"
that start on Monday.
Hope they aren't too harsh!
@@JaySwanson
The governments
(as we are a federal state here)
have learnt some lessons
from the last lockdown
so I hope it isn't as draconian as France
Morning Jay. What kind of printer do you have?? What ever it is called also let me know the number of the ink cartridge. take care and Happy Halloween. take care, ed
Can you not stay at the office? Is there no bedroom there? Even if you sleep on the couch, you'd have more light in the living space and you'd be closer to friends. I have friends who have decided to spend the lockdown together. Anyway, good luck and hang in there!
I’m so riveted. LOL 😂
🤣🤣
Did they say how far y'all can go yet?
1km seems to be the final limit =/
@@JaySwanson oof. Sorry to hear that.
are you going to be streaming Switch on Twitch or UA-cam?
Hey...I know that shirt!! 😂😂
😂😂
What happened to the bigger apartment?
good morning - there goes project day - no more hahahahahaha
Can't get them all done at once haha
@@JaySwanson the comment was when I saw you playing. My girls are playing among us as well so I know that it consumes your day. But then I saw you fixed your place, so maybe we will see you fixing things. Be safe, and remember God doesn't give us more then we cannot handle. Use this time wisely and productive ly.
I thought you were allowed to go to work... couldn't you still use the office?
Theoretically - it all seems a little gray still
I was going to ask you about the headphones.
I love the switch I play animal crossings get that game it is fun
It looks like a really fun one!
Cheers 😎
Yeah, it stinks but if we've gotta do it, best to tackle it head on =D Thanks!
Hey Lockdown buddy
Hola!
Happy New Year's (Irish, anyway)
It's Irish New Years? Learn something new every day
@@JaySwanson
I was asked last night what I was costumed, as not wearing anything special on, I said I was a leprechaun, whipping out my Irish passport card.

So, yes, you can get out to exercise! I should have checked UA-cam first but, hey. Any limits on time and distance? Surely there are but maybe you can only run around the block ad nauseam? Or back and forth in front of your building? We know you can ride a bike, so it's not that. Or DO we? Glad to see you up and about and not under the covers asking why bother. Although that COULD be fun because your loving followers could surely come up with 2,784 reasons why.... Surely? No, Absolutely!
Yep! Limited to 1km over 1hr - pretty tight restriction - and so far it looks like a mixed bag on how well it's being respected so we'll see if things get more restrictive in the coming days and weeks
LOL SEGA!!!
ps...are you 50K subs?
Getting there!
Not first

Procrastinator! That shower will take 2 minutes to fit!
Hi Jay great video. Sadly this will Probably we like this the next 5-7 Years. And then if you don't get " bill gates vaccine" then you probably won't be allowed to do much in the world. Even though here in the Usa. Only 6% of Cases even require hospitalization and we are Far from Healthy and almost all Fat and overweight. How many years can we handle the lockdowns?
