  • One of the coaches that influenced my fight style the most was Kru Devin Henry. He's a former bodybuilder that taught me to adapt a more evasive style along with so many other lessons in the sport! As you guys watch us spar, you'll notice that we have very similar styles and movements.

    We have the same roots, i used to have a traditional Muay Thai stance when i first started training & after a while when i learned how to box my style changes from Muay Thai style to more like Dutch Style & then again, i learned another discipline (not entirely, because it’s self-taught) Karate, everytime i spar people who’s base is Muay Thai they seem confused whenever i switch to side stance (karate stance) & they have a hard time catching/blocking the side kick including the in/out footwork that is frustrating them, i always get the best of them everytime.

    Incredible sparring. It's really quite intense, but not boneheaded at all, very technical, and just very mindful and mature. This is what it looks like when you've got two guys who really know what they're doing and have great attitude. Really impressed. I'm a fan of Jeffs mobile, evasive style, which combines the grit of Muay Thai with an advanced sense for different ranges and levels, and this video really shows where a lot of that came from. It's really much more suited for MMA, and the mobility, ranginess and accuracy almost gives it a bit of a karate flavor to it.

    In my utmost humble opinion.
    “ Nothing more rewarding than getting ones thesis validated by those who exceeds oneself in excellence”
    What I truly appreciate that differentiates your style of striking compared to other orthodox Nak Muay, is your emphasis ( and also a joy now to see the origin of said style) on your overall solid but fluid structure paired with impeccable balanced footwork and stance.
    I’ve myself have applied similar stance for quite some time, as my background in traditional martial arts, also emphasize a bit wider- but lowered/ balanced base as to enable oneself to kick and punch without giving too much of an opportunity for one’s opponent to take you down. Checking kicks with lifted knees, are an go to skill, one needs to learn and comprehend, but, depending on the context, training it as an active go to response consistently ( especially for self defense purposes) can be quite risky, so I’ve received some flak over the years for promoting catching the low kick on the thigh ie absorb and deflect to, counter, than lifting one’s knee too high, also for mma( and street altercations) take downs/ grabs are usually more prevalent in the chaos that ensues( even more so if one’s opponent is unskilled) :-/, so to see now that someone of your experience and skill set, apply the same principle, is an verification of utmost value.
    “ Learn the form, seek the formless”
    Which in turn will enable oneself to implement the concept of:
    “ Emancipation through application”
    And from there through implementing“Aliveness” ( Ref Matt Thornton SBG Portland) ie sparring;
    Which will enable oneself to comprehend:
    “ Fighting is relativity in motion, never expect only respond, as it one’s opponent within context that dictates tactics”
    Appreciations for sharing your incredible content with all of us, it is an joy to be able to observe and learn from such an peer as yourself.
    Sincere regards.

    If I ever make a video of ''who I got my style from'' it would definitely end up being from Jeff Chan! I noticed we had similar height, similar build, similar athletic attributes, and I really liked the aesthetic qualities of your style WHILE remaining effective against varied opponents in both MT rules and MMA; so I've taken a lot of your moves and incorporated them. Thanks, Jeff!

    Now I see it! You do fight like a not as buff (but still quite buff) version of him! His boxing is very tight and his Thai style is such that once you find one opening there will be more evolving from the opponents reaction to finding the original opening, Also like you he covers up and waits till you are done with your tantrum of punches and kicks to send a good one or two on the exit of the pocket.
