Thanks for having me on your channel! As I mentioned already, it was such a pleasure and honour meeting, hanging out with you and learning from you!
You're gonna make me change my opinion on Canadians...
@@hard2hurt wait what is your opinion on Canadians
This whole sequence is gold. 🤣
we need mmashreded, gabriel vaga, sensei seth, karater nerd, icy mike, ramsey dewey, martial art journey do colabs togethers. It would be awesome
@@MMAShredded everyones gonna be stealing this kick now bro im calling it here lol
Honnestly it s so good to see you guys altogether, The Avengers of fight sports / Self Defense.
Nah that would be Buakaw, Floyd Mayweather, Dave Leduc, Kabib, Wonderboy, GSP and Gordon Ryan. This is the powder puff squad in comparison 😂
@@LightBender777 I think they are at the level of the suicide squat of martial arts and self-defense
@@LightBender777 I hope you realize that even Wonderboy collaborated with the “power puff squad”
The "you gotta know the rules to break the rules" reminds me of playing music. If you play a note outside of the key with intent in jazz, it no longer becomes a "wrong" note. Fighting becomes like physical jazz. It's cool to see the parallels between the arts and martial arts.
Physical Jazz
Hmm. It's cool indeed.
Jazzercise.
Foreman once said something similar to ‘ boxing is like jazz. The better it is the less people notice it’
If ya shadowbox to Coltrane its called Combat Jazz
Calling it a “hit confirm” just made real-life combos easier for me to understand
HAHA
TRUE COMBO
@@ShengFink me when my roundhouse kick is fuckin minus 90000 on block and they punish counter the fuck out of me

I feel like a child and its Christmas! Watching Jeff, Mike, Ramsey and Rokas all together is super fun, insightfull and wholesome. Jeff and Ramsey are partly what got me into MMA five years ago.
Yeah man it's like the Avengers
Ever since, i started watching Jeff, that became my favorite kick, i use it all the time
Tried it on the heavy bag but I seem to "jam" up because of the big distance covered. Seems quite odd.
Ever since ive seen Jeff, ive been less interested in mma. What an annoying tool
@@whoknows8223practice the entry and exit footwork until you get that distance right
Jeff knows so much it blows my mind like every time I watch him break something down
Plus his movement is so advanced it reminds me of Dominick Cruz footwork, I like how he builds exits and head movement into all his stuff
Hopefully we get to see this in action somewhere in the challenge, it seems super useful
The reason Jeff is so gigabrain about this stuff is because he does it so damn much with hard sparring and high level fighters. And then he films everything and goes back and analyzes it. He doesn't need to rely on theory when he has that much experience.
So many beasts in one video!
Jeff's ghost evasion style of sparring is so fun to watch.
This is a jeff chan signature move, amazing to see him explain one of his best and unique techniques
Geezus this is so gold!! This should be perfect for shorter (like myself 5'-6"7" )fighters to not only close the gap against taller fighters, but it's freaking adaptive at the same time??
Thank you Mike for expounding on Jeff landing this on you and you wanting to figure it out! And Thank you Jeff for the reveal/breakdown! You're the best
Oh is Jeff.. wait is THAT RAMSEY DEWEY FROM SHANGHAI CHINA ! sorry got excited.
I love Jeff weird bird like movement, he jumps in attacks goes back and repeat . And is more fun to watch than an orthodox style of fighting.
this is pure gold, I'm so happy with the martial arts community on YT, this is cool.
I gotta say as a fighting game player and fighter irl I loved hearing the term “hit confirmation” show up here. Both worlds colliding and I love it
You guys are killing it with the fight video collabs lately. *Please* keep them coming.
As someone looking at getting into Muay Thai, and who also loves Street Fighter, hearing you reference hit confirms blew my mind. It also confirmed I wasn't crazy for seeing parallels to fighting game concepts.
Met Jeff when I was living in Vietnam and he was passing through. Dude definitely has the signature Canadian niceness, but man you could tell he's got that edge just lying underneath. Super glad to see most of my favorite combat sports/self defense youtubers in one room
I have always called that the "Jeff Chan Kick".
Man, love it when martial artists get together, share ideas on how to get better. Its good for future martial artists because they can always improve the ideas you guys put out today!
Discovered Ramsey 2 years ago. Became a fan and subscriber. Discovered Mike last year. Became a fan and subscriber. Now, I've discovered Jeff Chan and have beome a fan and subscriber. These three are GREAT TEACHERS and Communicators. They seem to just exude excitement in teaching you things they know.
His knowledge for martial arts is absolutely mind blowing
This whole event and get together is an just an amazing meeting of minds. Hats off to you all 👏❤️
Mike just referenced hit confirms. Mike, you're making me smile. My nerd feelings!
cmon my dude, after bringing Ramsey in for an opinion, you could have given a shoutout to his channel as well :D Great vid! Love from Germany
And after going all the way from Shanghai China.
Flippin' Ramsey Dewey, Jeff Chan, IcyMike, Rokas, and Seth in one room just sharing awesomeness! Hell yeah! ❤ you guys are awesome!!!
makes me wish gabriel varga could have been in on this. I'd like to see who's better at the self defence challenges between two pro-level athletes
Hmm...
TRUE that would’ve been super interesting as his striking is really based on fundamentals and he does have grappling experience, but much less than Jeff
Already loved the content and when he referenced a "hit confirm" respect grew further
Seriously can't stop smiling seeing all you guys together, this is the best 😊
So this is the kind of super advanced shit that you get in the paid courses. That bit about looking to the left during the straight right blew my mind.
Awesome collab, two of my favorite fight channels ever. You and Jeff should release some sparring footage, would love to see it. You can also transfer the double step into body kicks as well
The collab I’ve been waiting for
I'm a marital arts nerd and I love when people talk about moves while breaking down the technique!! OSS 🤙🏿
I like that theory, about advanced striking is bad stuff done on purpose. I’ve always thought of it as “there are many ways to move your body, and sometimes one person’s right way, is another person’s wrong way. But if they work is all that matters “
Jeff really is good at explaining techniques, watching his video on the long guard really help fix the use of my long guard
The funny thing is that I had subscribe to all of these channels independently before. You guys all have a great channels.
Late on this one. I love when you guys work together on this type of stuff. Informative and interesting. It’s odd, like, I can watch stuff like this like seinfeld. I can’t quite define it.
This is a interesting tactic.
Also you did great on USDC episode 2, can't wait to see how you'll do in episode 3.
But yeah I've been subscribed to Jeff for a while, he's got great stuff ☺️.
You know how cool is Icey Mike talking about hit confirms for sparring? Gotta set up those sick TODs
It was interesting to see you guys trade notes. I’m glad there was a ultimate self-defense championships, which brought you guys together and where are you traded notes.
I love that hitscan analogy- it's the perfect way to describe that idea.
I've been using that kick since Jeff taught it on his 15 min follow along shadowboxing videos ! Thank you for sharing
I'm glad he demonstrated each different way to use the kick. Because I was as confused as Mike when he said "it gets me in and out, it closes the distance, and it gives me distance". I was like "isn't that the same thing as getting you in and out?!" Lol
Coming back to this video because I found a lot of success today in sparring with this. But not only for landing the kick but it helped me land my right hand alot more
icey mike confirmed jeff chan has real life hit confirms! Wouldn't be suprised if jeff could then hit confirm to his super move, sheesh
im new to sparring and just spent 4 1/2 weeks in thailand to train there. back home i mostly got demolished in sparring, in thailand i used a lot of jeffs moves and they worked. especially the darting cross into double step low kick is amazing
goofballs with so much thought and experience. wow. that seminar at the end of that trip must of been so great
this and the coaching convo with jeff are actually my two favorite things that came out of championship
This is becoming quite the network of martial artists. Very cool to see you two together.
Got to learn this in person from Jeff. Amazing teacher!!
Hell yea, Jeff is my fav channels to watch!
I've been waiting so long for you and Jeff to get together and it did not disappoint!
This massive collab makes me super happy,
never in my life would I have expected icy mike to drop the concept of hit confirming in his videos
4:37 finally a martial artist UA-camr making an analogy of fighting games.
Not rule breaking, just high fight IQ and a creative striker.
It's so funny you used the fighting game term "hit confirm" it's so true. I use it all the time to make sure I'm in the right place to use my special moves.
Telegraphing a weak attack, I love the idea. Something I always forget can be done!
As a fighting game player and martial arts fan, I love how you compared it to hit confirming
I was having so much success with this in our sparring session this weekend, definitely going to be one of the top three in the toolbox
@9:30 This is the same with chess. There are 'chess principals' that you learn to win. However, once you become experienced enough, you can learn how to break these principals to catch your opponent and win.
Icy Mike talking about fighting game terminology like hit confirms in the context of fighting irl is very cool. Would like see you play a fighting game on the channel just for fun, would be cool and entertaining.
DOUBLE STEP LOW KICK SUPREMACY!!!
😂😂😂 best comment
Poor Ramsey didn't get a plug. That was cold Icy Mike.
That stood out to me as well , he was just like okay you asked me to stand up and participate and then you don't include me 🤷🏽♂️
Well... which is more likely: I don't understand the etiquette and protocols in this scenario... or you don't?
We love your work jeff
W collab
Definitely
Jeff Chan's fighting style is one of the most interesting forms or fighting i've even seen, its incredible that he is a pro fighter, hi is (or was, i dont know) in ONE CHAMPIONSHIP and he stills fight as sparring, with those weird kicks and fancy boxing, its awesome.
I love this video hahaha . The notorious double step low kick. You felt it for yourself
Honestly when you are already quality training 10+ years on any skill and has fully mastered everything from the basics and up you can make your own rules and make it your style and Jeff Chan is the embodiment of this he fight so weird in my opinion but because he fight very unorthodox that makes him very difficult to deal with. He is flawless he almost fights like a streetfighter character. He's my top1 martial arts youtuber too thanks for nice vid mike❤
i completely stole this move from alot of your earlier sparring sessions. it definitely works😭!
The martial arts at its core is basic level teaching us the basics and once you know it and can understand your own body and how your body adapts to fights then from that point on you can adjust to make it work for you. I like how Jeff has implemented that into his art because not many do that. Here are some good examples for Muay Thai Saenchai does it all the time, in UFC Israel Adesanya does it all the time, like Jeff mentioned Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao breaks rules in there boxing. Good video guys keep it up.
Saenchai close the gap against bigger opponent using this trick, such a nice movement
Crap you know I watch a good bit of Jeff's videos but didn't realize I WASNT SUBSCRIBED ! WELL I am now thanks Mike . Still pulling for you in that ultimate self defense competition by the way
cannot wait for the next episode tomorrow
The Best Collab videos.....I'm looking at everyone's channel now!
This is the type of content I subscribe for.
I see Jeff do this kick all the time I slowed the footage down to learn it and this video helps
Beautiful Technique
I'm subbed to all 3 of you guys and Seth, Jesse, Gabriel, and Steve. Pretty much any YT martial arts channel that's good. You all are awesome! Keep it up! 😄
this video is a gem
I love seeing Ramsey in your videos, I've watched both of channels for a long time, and in my wildest dreams I didn't expect a colab since he's located in china. Seeing him casually walk into your video is jarring :D
I'm not a real-life fighter but I've played fighting games at a very high, top 5-10% level. And even though these 2 things are far away from each other, the statement that "advanced striking is just mistakes that beginners make, but done on purpose" rings some truth to it. When you're playing at very high levels of mindgames, players tend to calculate the risk-reward for choices and make a lot of decisions based on that. But the sign of a lot of high-level players is being able to do things you SHOULDN'T be doing in a calculated way. Of course there are players that play very risk-averse, the "proper way" or defensively, but there are plenty of good players who are known for doing "dumb" things and getting rewarded for it, because they know to do it at a point where an opponent doesn't expect it.
If a player thinks "a top-level player would never do X because it's stupid and will get them killed", when the player ACTUALLY does X their opponent is slower to react.
Gotta see Mike bring Jeff and Gabriel together!
Not sure if he has in fact done this exact thing in one of his fights but this looks like something that would be in Lyoto Machida's arsenal.
I feel so spoiled seeing you three collab. I know you guys are together for the Self Defense Championship. But I hope you guys the opportunity to collab a lot more in the future!
Mike calling out hit confirms? Absolutely based. Also, play Virtua Fighter.
4:36
Mike doesn’t button mash?
0:40 he's standing with sideways stance and protecting his groin -- man is ready at all times
Awesome fade away kick!
I popped when Mike brought up hit confirming in fighting games.
Great kick and application, never heard it called that... Fantastic delivery!
My two youtube favorites, thanks guys!!
To counter, step back with lead leg into left hand stance and right into spinning back kick as you see it coming. He would run right into it or at least stop him from doing it again.
gotta practice that
Jeff’s The Man 💪❤️🙏
This is truly the most powerful crossover in the UA-camverse.
This is super rad, I really like both of you guys. I'd love to see some more! Either way, Jeff is sharing real gifts for sure, great knowledge
These series will evolve into a sitcom, change my mind 😂
Very informative videos. Thank you all.
On that head movement thing, some people often turn their heads away when doing a roundhouse kick. I don't know where they're looking when they do that but it looks like Jeff Chan has found a way to use it to his advantage.
Hey mike love you buddy
lovely kicks
I see shades of dom Cruz here
I believe Jeff incorporates some of his concepts still and I do too in my game
Love the darts
This was so good. Love the changeup after the fact
