"No. The Force is my ally. It's all I need." Ezra here completely showcases he LISTENED to Kanan. Kanan once told him "having a laser sword doesn't make you a Jedi." And here Ezra shows that. He almost felt like Kanan during the fight while still being very much himself if that makes sense; Kanan was very grounded in the light, shown even when he thought Ezra was dead. He simply centered himself, and focused not on vengeance for Ezra, but fighting to live so that Ezra's memory could be carried on in him. The will to live and fight _despite_ your fear vs wanting vengeance is seen in his reply to the Grand Inquisitor's question. Secondly, it's been at least 10 years since he last held a lightsaber, he would be pretty rusty, but he's clearly honed other combat styles in that time, the dense necklace of Trooper dog tags attests to his combat skills. And finally, I think he would have wanted Sabine to keep it so she would have it as protection. He knows she's not strong in the Force, she can't dodge or predict enemy attacks as well as he can, and a lightsaber is an excellent defensive weapons, and clearly superior to any melee weapon they were likely to encounter. Bridger is one of the more nontraditional Jedi we've seen, trained mostly by a padawan and self taught, even Sabine has had more traditional training than he has, so it seems appropriate for him to have a very unique and personal fighting style compared to other Jedi.

Thrawn didn't "suspect" Anakin and Vader were the same person. He absolutely knew, and trolled Vader mercilessly, always stopping just short of outright telling Vader that he was Anakin (because Thrawn knew what would happen to him in that case). I loved the detail of how concerned and almost scared Thrawn was from simply reading Anakin was her master. A rare kink in the armor of Thrawn, and showing respect for someone he fought with.
I thought Thrawn wasn't "almost scared", he was angry that she didn't tell him IMMEDIATELY that Ahsoka was trained by Anakin (I know I would have been, especially after the witch responded to his statement in such a "this is such a meaningless detail to ask about" way)
@@hullutsuhna did they know which Jedi it was to that point? It’s been a while since I watched the show at this point. But I agree it’s a big detail to omit, if I was Thrawn I’d be angry too. She’s the last in a line of very powerful master’s and apprentices.
I just have to throw this out here. Theory: Xiono is Filonis Borsk Fey’lya and just political maneuvering for the sake of maneuvering and more power. Not to hand it to thrawn, sadly imo, fey’lya did mostly redeem himself as much as a traditional bothan can.
15:45 My worries lies in how they're gonna deal with Baylan Skoll and Ray Stevenson's untimely passing. It'd really make me sad if he was planned for Season 2 but obviously the change in events.
They could have something bad happen to him, witch magic or an explosion or something, that alters his appearance and voice. Then he could have a mask covering part of his face. I think it would be better to have "an explanation" rather than just finding another actor and pretend nothing happened. Unless the character dies.
@@katv1195The issue is they have never recast a main character unless the age is very different (Anakin, Obi-wan, Han, Lando) or it's been a very long time (Mon Mothma). In fact, they tend to keep actors for decades for these characters or use CGI to avoid recasting. Recasting Baylan would be a big departure from that.
13:04, He appears to have not wanted to deprive Sabine of any of her weapons, including the lightsaber, but it doesn’t seem to be due to an aversion to them, but rather due to him wanting to be more adaptable in a fight, as he switches between unarmed combat, telekinesis and captured weapons (which personally reminds me of Melinda May from Agents of SHIELD and her mantra “If I need a gun, I’ll take one”, as she would often prefer pummeling and disarming her opponents over simply having a weapon equipped prior to a fight).
I thought Ezra not using a lightsaber was more about showing off like he usually does rather than some moral code thingy. And when things start going Stormtrooper he switches back to serious mode again.
He also has spent 10 years without it, honing the force, while Sabine has been using it. He probably wanted to make sure she had all the weapons she could use too.
Xiono might not be a sympathizer but i do think just like any good corruptocracy, he likely is getting some back door kick back indirectly through somewhere to be a pain for syndulla and her allies.
13:27 Ahsoka the White/wise realizes her mistakes of the past of leaving Sabine's by herself which ended badly for Sabine's family in order to chase a greater cause. This time, Ahsoka focuses on helping those she cares about as first priority, rather than defeating the greater evil for the greater good. Ahsoka is now walking a similar path as her padawan Sabine.
I agree. If Sabine hadn't mentioned it, then he probably would have taken it. but like Huyang said in episode 2 not only was it given to her, but then she went ahead and personalized it for herself. he's also had to deal with these maraduar guys who are far more resistant than the standard storm troopers. like it took way more work to put down the few maraduars that came at them, than it di the larger number of nighttroopers. so i imagine he figured that since she wasn't as familiar fighting them that she could use every advantage she could get.
Hey Alen, I just wanted to take a moment of my time to thank you for the years of amazing content. Your hard work, dedication, and attention to detail have not gone unnoticed. It makes my day when I see one of your videos has been uploaded. Please, keep up the hard work. May the Force be with you.
It was a very entertaining episode. The New Republic is struggling to maintain order and legitimately worrying about plunging the galaxy into another war. Meanwhile that very threat is preparing to do just that. I like that Baylan is kind of a wild card. He's really displaying that he's omly aligned with Thrawn to get what he wants and looks like he's willing to sacrifice his apprentice to achieve that. Anyway that's my take. I'm really looking forward to seeing the Chimera combined with the Eye of Scion traveling in hyperspce.
I was almost disappointed that threepio didn’t get the guard to back off when he said so indignantly and confidently “you don’t need to see my identification” just like Obi Wan in a new hope
A little more detail i liked was that the Stormtroopers are not only having a strategy for once under the direction of Thrawn, but they also are actually using cover. I mean yes, the effect was limited because these are Two (And A Half) Jedi with the force and many other funny little things are their disposal. But, they made a fair effort with encircling and covering themselves with interlocking fields of fire. And props to Thrawn for realizing from the start that without Baylan, he simply did not stand a chance at victory in the more tactical sense, tho his one was a strategic one by not only delaying with the fight itself, but also the now following reunion which will slow them down even more. The other thing i just realized that of course it had to be three sisters. Like from the mythological angle of the three Norns from Norse Mythology or the Three Fates or Furies from Greek mythology. Its always three. And then there is the always loveable William Shakespeare with the most literal case here, the Three Weird Sisters from a certain Scottish Play. Besides, it fits that its the magic of three sisters that triangulates (there is that number again) the location of Ahsoka and Huyang.
I like that they used the Night Sisters as forward artillery observers. I was wondering how they'd have him pull of his cloaked ship turbolaser trick without Joruus.
i gotta say i loved this episode, many disliked the first ahsoka vs baylan so seeing her now using her second blade feels good. Also thrawn felt really thrawn here.
I wish Sabine and Ezra had a moment in the previous episode where she presented the lightsaber to him, he reaches out and closes her hand around the sabre. It would be an emotional moment for Ezra to see his out lightsaber again.
Absolutely loved seeing the tactical map and recon drone used by the Imperials in this episode. I understand a lot of Star Wars draws on the mythos of the World Wars and other older real-life conflicts to inspire its warfighting but it was great to see some more modern influence. A bit of tactical acumen was great, too - we see a coordinated effort being handled in real time by the commanding officer instead of just "run in and attack" with the leader being totally unawares of the moment to moment action.
I love that Ezra learned to use the Force itself as a weapon, becoming like a Star Wars monk; it is an angle I have always wanted to see because every time they come out with more Star Wars the question invariably is "what new kind of lightsaber do we get?" and FINALLY, the answer is "none". I have always wanted to see someone forsake the saber and hone their skill with Force abilities.
Crazy how Ahsoka had time to do a bit of training and has found her center, but even so, Baylan was still a match for her... he is so strong, I love it
I loved Ezra's unarmed force combat style. sometimes I feel like the Jedi forget they can do that. whenever a Jedi loses their light saber in combat it seems like they think they are completely unarmed
"That was the last one" was Ahsoka's way of saying that her training is finally complete. She knows her place in the universe just in time to leave it and enter a new one.
I'd bet that Ahsoka hasn't watched Anakin's videos in many years; but is open to revisiting his teachings again after her experience in Ep 5. She can see, and now accept, his duality; and benefit from his light side experience and training again.
That moment when Baylon watched Ahsoka ride away right after their fight was brilliant, so much inner turmoil having to destroy a great Jedi like Ahsoka.

Let’s hope we can end Season 1 on a high note. Either with the journey back to our galaxy, or with the space battle we’ve all craved for. I mean after all: it ain’t called _Star_ Wars for nothin’.
My favourite moment was Ashoka trolling Hyuang, he really is upset and turns around only to find her with the typicaly "troll face" smirk we all know to some degree and even grumbles angryly, knowing full and well the only winning move is not to play and takes his loss with as much grace as is possible.
Thanks for the video, Alan. I really like Ezra. I often struggle with the transition from animation to live action, I'm still a bit unsure about a couple, but this one they got spot on. Bravo!
Remember Ezra bodied an unknown amount of stormtroopers with a blaster to get up to the bridge of the Chimera to get to Thrawn at the end of Rebels! He's not afraid of Force controlling AT-ST pilots to walk the transport off a cliff, or....shooting people in the face!! 😁
Let's give my bot huyang some major props while everyone was fighting he just casually had thrawns fighter ships follow him like lost puppies. And even came back around to lay some cover fire. huyang has got some skills
I rewatched this video and when you were talking about the scene where Ezra refused to take the lightsaber from Sabine, I thought it kind of fit when you called Ezra an airbender. But then I remembered the part of that scene when Shin Hati swung her lightsaber at Ezra and he stopped it mid-air using the Force, pushing some of the energy off the blade itself. He might as well be both an airbender and a lightbender!
With the dathomeri sisters interestingly their banes are very close to the names of the 3 fates of Greek myth. Also their magic seems to focus on those small orbs which very much are reminiscent of the eyeball they shared that granted them their sight
When Ahsoka says "He was a good master," it's a show of how she has finally admitted it out loud, after how much she came to doubt everything he taught her upon learning of his fall to the dark side. That's a major part of what Episode 5 was all about. Ahsoka is finally free.
Those mines are very similar to modern CAPTOR mines here on Earth which are just lightweight miniturized acoustic homing torpedos that sit on the bottom in standby listening for a warship match.
I honestly thought that half way through the battle, just when the good guys were winning, Thrawn would tell the Mothers to reveal their little trick. And then _bippity boppity boo_ all the dead troopers suddenly rise up. Maybe all that the red ribbons are doing, is just holding the armour together like duct tape lol 🤷♂️
Maybe just paranoid but Ezra’s line about going home made me worried about him actually surviving to see it. Especially when considering what happened when Huyang said at least the purgill are giving us cover and Ahsoka said you really didn’t just say that.
Lars Mikkelson said he changed a little bit of Thrawns voice for this show, but to me he sounds exactly the same. The only difference is he talks slightly faster.
I think a more reasonable way to describe the senators position is that he has built up his power base off of "reformed" former Imperials and he is concerned about alienating them by fixating on the The Remnant as a legitimate threat
Interesting detail about the information that Morgan brings about Ahsoka to Thrawn, that it comes from the Inquisitorius. Chances are that when the Empire fell that she took possession of what was left on Nur, which could explain why Marrok was working for her.
Xiono is giving me imperial spy vibes but also not entirely, because he’s for the new republic, but doesn’t support the militant side, regardless, the imps are spying on the new republic as we know
We as the audience know that the threat of the Imperial Remnant, and Thrawn's return is very much real. But from Xiono's point of view, Hera could simply be a wartime commander who doesn't want to let go of war, so she conjures threats in order to maintain her rank and position, and to secure valuable resources that the Republic could spend elsewhere.
Fantastic episode but when she was training with both blades, you can see why that is an ill-advised strategy. Reverse grips is bad enough but when you combine that with dual wielding you are actually at a huge disadvantage. Failoni simply did that because it looks cool
My first thought watching this episode was “Alan is going to love the bureaucracy stuff”

I loved the detail of how concerned and almost scared Thrawn was from simply reading Anakin was her master. A rare kink in the armor of Thrawn, and showing respect for someone he fought with.
Isnt thrawn knowing anakin during clone wars part of legends? Or was that made canon?
It’s canon based upon the new thrawn trilogy
@@bloodangel7731it's canon
I thought Thrawn wasn't "almost scared", he was angry that she didn't tell him IMMEDIATELY that Ahsoka was trained by Anakin (I know I would have been, especially after the witch responded to his statement in such a "this is such a meaningless detail to ask about" way)
@@hullutsuhna did they know which Jedi it was to that point? It’s been a while since I watched the show at this point. But I agree it’s a big detail to omit, if I was Thrawn I’d be angry too. She’s the last in a line of very powerful master’s and apprentices.
That senator was lucky Carson was there to hold back Chopper.
He was about to add a new crime to his crime list hahahaha😂
Honestly, Chopper is slightly more subtle than that...something like a mail bomb might still be coming his way there
And we see how this New Republic fell so quick.
Chopper was ready to suicide the senator
I think corescent was lucky given his tendency for overkill
I just have to throw this out here. Theory: Xiono is Filonis Borsk Fey’lya and just political maneuvering for the sake of maneuvering and more power. Not to hand it to thrawn, sadly imo, fey’lya did mostly redeem himself as much as a traditional bothan can.
Xiono is a poorer version of Borsk Fey'lay.
i love how you get into topics with these episodes that i don’t see a lot of others really focusing a lot of attention on
15:45 My worries lies in how they're gonna deal with Baylan Skoll and Ray Stevenson's untimely passing.
Wont be the same but I'm guessing shin can take over that roll for a second season or we
That thumbnail, it emits a power that is unmatched
"All I need is the force." 2 minutes later he grabs a rifle. 😅
😂
Well he did go on a rampage through the chimera with a blaster
Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side.
Neither, he has dangling bits and needs to be reduced to someone that needs saving from the superior body type.
@rh906 bingo. Women strong! Men weak!

I predict his stupid smug expressions invites the business end of a lightsaber somewhere in his future.

I just saw that picture for your video and thought, "That just looks so wrong..."
Yeah 😂😂😂😂😂😂 epic!
I can’t believe you already have this edited and uploaded absolutely amazing Allen.
love ezra's new kung force, and gun fu technique.
I think he really thinks of the light saber as sabines now. And didn’t want to take it especially since she’s an “apprentice”
yeah, i see it as like it being her turn to go down that path since he already has
And for all we know he could've built a new one, but just hadn't the need to use it quite so often.
Hey Alen, I just wanted to take a moment of my time to thank you for the years of amazing content. Your hard work, dedication, and attention to detail have not gone unnoticed. It makes my day when I see one of your videos has been uploaded. Please, keep up the hard work. May the Force be with you.
Alan looking like the Senator of Hosnia.
Your backdrop is so cool. Love seeing that city skyline behind you when it cuts to you. Almost has kind of a Coruscant vibe
The thumbnail was mad 🤣🤣
Can we all agree that this thumbnail is wild 😂
This comment right here officer

I'd bet that Ahsoka hasn't watched Anakin's videos in many years; but is open to revisiting his teachings again after her experience in Ep 5. She can see, and now accept, his duality; and benefit from his light side experience and training again.
That moment when Baylon watched Ahsoka ride away right after their fight was brilliant, so much inner turmoil having to destroy a great Jedi like Ahsoka.
I know this season is going end on a big cliff hanger and I can't wait for the next season
Remember! Ezra once had the bastardized Blaster-lightsaber in Rebels!
I like to call it the mark 1 staple gun
@@GenerationTech TO BE FAIR, and to give nerd points to Filoni... He did made Ezra go full "last airbender" mode on us......

I always appreciate the commentary breakdown. Ex your highlighting how thrawn likes the sound of his own voice
I love how you’re almost at a million subs and yet you’re still the same old Star Wars Reviewer who is humble and brings incredible content .
After watching anything with Thrawn in it - I talk like him for hours. It's just so awesome, I can't help myself.
10:52 I think it goes without saying the Noti and their "RV homes" look like roly-polies/pill bugs, which is probably the reality of the inspiration.
Chopper's "f*ck you" was so perfect
Glad Mon Mothma did have the sense to talk to Hera privatly and ask about the threat potentially.
Ngl the thumbnail for this video looks like Thrawn is giving Ahsoka backshots 💀
Thanks for the video, Alan.
I really like Ezra. I often struggle with the transition from animation to live action, I'm still a bit unsure about a couple, but this one they got spot on. Bravo!
Eman Esfandi has really captured that mischievous and cocky Ezra energy
👀 Alan, we need to talk about the thumbnail to this video 😆 Why does it look like Thrawn is giving Ahsoka the business!? 😄
This is like the after talk show of a TV show, watch the episode and come here to see Alan give his own thoughts. Love it.
The thumbnail brings to mind more than just "Surprise." It gives more of a "Ahsoka is stuck 'What are you doing, stepbro Thrawn?'" vibe.
Let's give my bot huyang some major props while everyone was fighting he just casually had thrawns fighter ships follow him like lost puppies. And even came back around to lay some cover fire. huyang has got some skills
One of the few individuals in the galaxy who can put the pure fear in the hearts and minds of his opponents and allies.
When they are doing their magic it matches the carvings in the temple from Ep. one.
Is Lord Baylan Skoll actions possibly creating an alternate timeline for the Sequels ❓🔥
We can only pray you're right 🙏🗿
I rewatched this video and when you were talking about the scene where Ezra refused to take the lightsaber from Sabine, I thought it kind of fit when you called Ezra an airbender. But then I remembered the part of that scene when Shin Hati swung her lightsaber at Ezra and he stopped it mid-air using the Force, pushing some of the energy off the blade itself. He might as well be both an airbender and a lightbender!
People always on Anakin, but nobody brings up Padme' and her cradle robbing habits... 🤣
"Ex-Jedi Princess General Senator Hutt Killer Leia" This one was perfect!
With the dathomeri sisters interestingly their banes are very close to the names of the 3 fates of Greek myth.
Also their magic seems to focus on those small orbs which very much are reminiscent of the eyeball they shared that granted them their sight
Thank you for posting these late night vids, makes this hw taking me until 2am bearable
When Ahsoka says "He was a good master," it's a show of how she has finally admitted it out loud, after how much she came to doubt everything he taught her upon learning of his fall to the dark side. That's a major part of what Episode 5 was all about. Ahsoka is finally free.
Your Star Trek reference to how thrawn operates was perfect, “Thrawns over here playing 3D chess” GOLD 🤣🤣
I dont like the idea the storm troopers are undead, doesn't fit thrawn, Thrawn takes care and respects his troopers
The red ribbons on the night troopers could denote they are friendly to the night sister zombies that could be showing up.
Maybe just paranoid but Ezra’s line about going home made me worried about him actually surviving to see it. Especially when considering what happened when Huyang said at least the purgill are giving us cover and Ahsoka said you really didn’t just say that.
Thanks Alan, always a good time
You said, "Hutt killer" and I HOLLERED!!!
Lars Mikkelson said he changed a little bit of Thrawns voice for this show, but to me he sounds exactly the same. The only difference is he talks slightly faster.
We have to remember his lightsaber from rebels did have a built in blaster so I see that as being why he’s seemed so comfortable with a blaster
Man... what an episode.
Im glad I found your channel
Senator Xiono giving us this video is something-- oh wait, it's Allen. 😂
Thanks Alan 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🍁🍂🍁
I think a more reasonable way to describe the senators position is that he has built up his power base off of "reformed" former Imperials and he is concerned about alienating them by fixating on the The Remnant as a legitimate threat
they 100% nailed thrawn. love that he's strategically smart as he should be and not shown as dumb just for plot
3PO showing up was so cool
Ezra's first light saber was a blaster. Ezra has always preferred blasters.
Bro….THAT THUMBNAIL🔥🔥🔥🔥 😂😂😂💀
Interesting detail about the information that Morgan brings about Ahsoka to Thrawn, that it comes from the Inquisitorius. Chances are that when the Empire fell that she took possession of what was left on Nur, which could explain why Marrok was working for her.
Alan, how is it that youve been the one youtuber to not fall into disgrace? Great content as always.
It could be his advisor is a imperial spy. Lots of advisors in new Republic seems to be ex-imperal.
That senator reminds me of a particular bothan....
Fantastic episode but when she was training with both blades, you can see why that is an ill-advised strategy. Reverse grips is bad enough but when you combine that with dual wielding you are actually at a huge disadvantage. Failoni simply did that because it looks cool
