True change required disruptors to get in the patriarchy/majority's face, deconstruct the pretty trappings, and show the reality behind the truth, even at the risk of their own lives and even where their own friends, families, and partners don't want the disruptors to take the risk. @HuntingViolets I completely forgot about the co-writers! Thanks for sharing that info! When Sondheim sadly passed, I watched The Last of Sheila (along with proshots of Company, Into the Woods, and two Sweeney Todd productions) as part of my grieving process. Don't ask why, I couldn't tell you.

Good catch on the switch (and the instinct on what Miles is about). What's fun is on rewatch... if you know what to watch for... there's little tidbits that show what's really happening. Those elements just aren't highlighted like they are in the retelling / fugue view.
One detail I like is how the character's masks say so much about their personality. I really hope we get at least another movie for the Knives Out collection. I didn't like the end in one as much but it is still fun! I want more Detective Benoit adventures.
@@tsuran3848we need at least one for all seasons (my wish list is one in a ski lodge, where blanc is just vacationing with his husband and everyone is snowed in; and one at some sort of a theater production (specifically with rachel zegler))

Would love to see you more mystery movies in this style It is fun to see you piece things together My personal suggestion/request would be the recent adaptations of Agatha Christie "Murder on the Orient Express" (2017), as well as the sequels "Death on the Nile" (2022), and "A Haunting in Venice" (2023) They are in a similar boat as Knives Out in which the main recurring character is the Detective, or rather Knives Out takes a great deal of inspiration from these (and other similar works) to have a central, recurring detective in the mystery to solve the clues laid out
11:06 his clothes in that scene are an old style of bathing suit so wearing them in the water is quite natural. Yes it is very much ‘retro’ in style but so is the whole foghorn leghorn bit so it matches his character.
I remember that the first time I saw this, when Miles says that Duke picked up his drink and they play the scene again, I was like "Miles clearly handed him the drink before" and thought it was some type of continuity error or that they used two different takes they did of that one scene without realizing that they were different. Same when Benoit Blanc screams "Helen" when we first see her being shot, I thought there was a mistake. I wasn't familiar with Janelle Monae so I thought maybe the actresse's name was Helen, or maybe Daniel Craig blurted out the wrong name by accident, and it slipped through the editing and what not. I didn't even consider it could be a clue ha ha.
Just discovered your channel and as a mystery fanatic I adore your deductive reasoning, you’re so observant and clever! It makes this video so engaging!
And because to save themselves a little bit. If the media is focused on Miles and all his friends accuse him, most people won't look at Miles' friends who took part in it.
Loved your Knives Out and Glass Onion vids. You should check out “Clue” with Tim Curry, the OG detective comedy movie based on the board game. One of the best comedies ever, and the mystery is real good too. The ending will throw you for a loop for real.
dude, you’re brillant. i’m a psychological thriller/murder mystery girlie and you don’t understand how much i enjoyed this video (and the knives out one). to watch someone ACTUALLY pay attention to all the details, no matter how big or small, is just pure joy. i’d watch you react to any mystery movie now (pls). not one thing/thought/sentence is insignificant in this video and maaaan, it is so much fun to watch you figure it out.
Oh, also.... You recognized Kareem as one of the boxes in Blanc's game of Among Us. The other three were Angela Lansbury of Murder, She Wrote, Broadway legend composer and lyricist Stephan Sondheim (both of whom passed away within weeks of the movies release date), and Natasha Lyonne who currently stars in Rian Johnson's murder mystery TV show Poker Face. The guy at Birdie's party who explains what a fugue is was famed Cellist Yo Yo Ma. Tie all of these together with brief cameos by Ethan Hawke and Serena Williams and you have a lot of celebrity fans of Knives Out who were anxious to be in Johnson's next film!
Just found your stuff, and I have to say, I love it. Keep it up! Edit: A few suggestions for things you might want to watch in the future: 12 Angry Men, Inception, Airplane!, and Clue.
Loved your reaction! There's so many cool details in this movie. Like Blanc not gagging like everyone else when getting the mouth vaccine bc it implies he's used to throat tickling by his partner (Hugh Grant).
I just found your Knives Out video two days ago, LOVED your reaction, and have been watching a few more since then. I was so excited to see just the next day you'd uploaded the next movie :D You're so in sync with these movies, I wonder if you'd like the Hercule Poirot films with Kenneth Branagh! Not quite the same style as the Knives Out ones but still some fun detective work.
YAY!!!! Happy you're watching this! Next ones to watch: Ready or Not on Hulu (you'll LOOOOOVE this one!) The Hunt (Hilarious and a great one) The Menu (Will piss you off but a very entertaining, somewhat horror comedy/mystery film) PURE MYSTERY FILM SERIES (emphasis on PURE): Murder on the Orient Express (2017) --> Death on the Nile (2022) --> A Haunting in Venice (2023) and because I'm just noticing Ethan Hawke was in this film, Black Phone!!!! Brilliant film!!!
The 1970s versions of Pure Mystery series are far superior to the remakes. As I grew up reading Agatha Christie mysteries, The remakes made me die a little inside.
@@biancaeze14 I'd definitely recommend the David Suchet Poirot mysteries over Branagh's. Branagh's are very slick and modern, but Suchet gets the character a lot more.
You called it. Within a few minutes the group learned that Andi was dead and that Miles had murdered her, and learned the Miles had deliberately murdered Duke. Even then no one (not even Duke's girlfriend Whiskey) would speak out against Miles until the Mona Lisa was burned and their gravy train was gone for sure. They started out backing Miles against Andi in court and ended up all ready to protect him against murder charges. FWIW, the movie was written and filmed before Elon Musk bought Twitter, and so Miles character was not directly based on him. He was intended to be a mash-up of "internet millionaires" including Musk but also Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, and several others. Musk just happened to be the most visible of the idiot billionaire genre when the movie was released.
Yeah, love this vid but that part upset me. Wearing a mask is nothing compared to death and disability. I get why ppl wanna move past early pandemic, but like its not over. 1k ppl die weekly in the US
Same we all still wear our masks and have thankfully haven’t gotten covid. I also love how each character has a mask (or lack thereof) that went with their personality.
a bit of an out there suggestion, but there’s a super fun, incredibly camp adaptation of Evil Under the Sun (the best agatha christie novel). it’s the most fun “40s as seen from the 80s” romp with completely ridiculous looks and characters, but they kept the mystery as it should be
Your voice is very nice to listen to, your comments are very smart, your reactions are all very genuine and i love how much attention you were paying. I'd love to see you watch more whodunits, like the jeremy brett sherlock holmes series if you don't know the stories already or other mystery shows or media like that
I pride myself that on my first watch, I noticed Miles handing Duke his own glass in the first scene, and I noticed that in Miles "retelling" of that situation, he changed the narrative by saying that Duke picked up the wrong one. I also love the setup of the Fuge in the beginning, which puts the musical cue throughout the entire film
Oh well done. You said often that you were confused but you were following extremely well! I am, personally, a filmmakers dream. I tend to take everything as the film wants me to and analyse after. It never occurred to me that Miles did it. The only exception is that I also thought Miles was an idiot very early on but I couldn't tell if the film knew that or not. Big congratulations to Edward Norton. It has been a while since I found a character that irritating and a lot was down to his excellent performance.
Recommendations for classic murder mystery reactions (which heavily inspired both Knives Out movies): The Mirror Crack'd (Starring the legends Angela Lansbury and Elizabeth Taylor) Clue (Hilarious and weird) The Last of Sheila Murder on the Orient Express (the 1974 version) Death on the Nile (1978) Evil Under the Sun (1982)
A donation so that you can BUY "The Last of Sheila" a mystery movie that you need to watch more so you can see what you missed the first time. And when you do pause at the 1:01 mark and commit to who you think did it.
They kinda are based on books by Agatha Christie but the references are mostly Easter eggs and the general direction of the plot it’s very fun to put the book to the movie because the vibes are so different
If you like murder mysteries, there are a few recent ones with Hercule Poirot, Agatha Christie's detective! Recently they made the Orient Express, Death on the Nile, and A haunting in Venice. They're fun too! There's also an older TV series with Hercule Poirot, adapted from the many novels and short stories. It's also a lot of fun but probably too many episodes for a youtube channel. I recommend you watch those in your free time though, David Suchet is great as Hercule Poirot and the episodes can even be found on youtube!
Really loving you trying to solve all of these whodunits! I hope you do more. Maybe Agatha Christie films next? Murder on the Orient Express or And Then There Were None? 😊 The Last of Shiela is also fun and has a very Glass Onion vibe to it. The Thin Man haa a boozy couple solving crimes while partying.
I absolutely adore your reactions to The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. I think you’d really enjoy diving into the tv series Dark, if you haven't watched it yet. Its intriguing storyline and complex characters seem like something you’d love. Can’t wait to see what you think!
i 100% agree with this recommendation, i would love to see him react to dark. it’s an incredible tv show that will have your head reeling with the twists and turns. it’s so well done and the attention to detail is insane, you’ll definitely need a notebook to keep track of everything!
42:25 Regarding Bond - NO SPOILERS and as vague as I can Each era of Bond is a little different; but Craig’s is unique among the others. The rest vaguely imply its the same character over the first 40 years of films (and a kind of sliding timeline for the character’s age) - but Craig’s era introduces a new way of depicting the character. If you’re enjoying Daniel Craig in these movies and considering more, the Bond movies with him should be among those, yes 💙💙
Your reactions are awesome, and it's so satisfying how much you're able to pick up on! The Bond movies are hit and miss, but I'd say start with Casino Royale, and keep watching them until you stop enjoying them lol If you want another great murder mystery that happens to share more than one cast member with Knives Out, I recommend Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011 version, Dir. by David Fincher). A warning though: in terms of tone, this is no Knives Out. It contains some very dark themes and graphic imagery. A very satisfying mystery to chew on, though. For some pre-007 Craig action, you could check out Layer Cake, a British crime thriller with some dark comedy sprinkled in. That reminds me of another under-appreciated movie I think you'd like based on your other reactions. Stardust (2007), which shares a Director with Layer Cake. It's a fun, light-hearted fantasy story, and it's one of those movies that will have you asking "who is NOT in this?"
My favourite part about the box at the start is that no one in the group actually solves any of the puzzles, they all get help from outsiders despite supposedly being special. Duke's mom to open the box, Yo-Yo Ma(fucking lol) for the fugue, Claire's husband for the chess puzzle, etc etc. The only character that does solve the box (though in their own way) is Helen, by smashing it open, also proving that the box is a bunch of random crap that actually has a *very* simple solution.
For Daniel Craig, you might want to check out _Infamous_ or the American version of _The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo._ For mysteries, of course _The Last of Sheila,_ already recommended elsewhere in the comments and the 1945 version of _And Then There Were None,_ the Peter Ustinov version of _Death on the Nile,_ and the Albert Finney version of _Murder on the Orient Express_ are fun.
You watched him give the drink to Duke! You even watched him do it by replaying it. Yet you keep saying Duke picked up the drink because that was visualized when Miles said it. That's very interesting, even though it drove me crazy. Who are you gonna believe, Miles or your lyin' eyes, basically.
If you haven't already watched, please watch Wandavision, The Others, The Skeleton, What Lies Beneath, and Agatha All Along. I'd love to see you try and unravel those mysteries.
Director Rian Johnson has explicitly stated that yes, that's supposed to be the real _Mona Lisa_ burning up; I still have to wonder, though, since the real _Mona Lisa_ was painted on wood, not parchment, and Miles would never know the difference
I often find myself saying things how I see it. I can process my thoughts. Ironically enough I get paid to say it how I see it. You get good at saying things less passive aggressively
I always say Knives Out is a way better murder mystery, but this movie is so fucking fun. The pure justice at the end is just amazing. Burning everything to the ground.
These are great flicks. Kind of a modern Agatha Christie vibe. If you like the murder mystery feel then there's a lot of video adaptations of her various works out there.
i love Knives Out series but i will say Kenneth Branagh trilogy (murder on the orient express(2017), Death on the Nile(2022), and A Haunting In Venice(2023) is a masterpiece ..please consider watching them if you havn't already.
I think I actually liked this one better than knives out. They're both great. But this one really hits home about systems of power and how the people at the top of them pretend to have gotten there fairly, when many times they are propped up by other bad actors. I think the themes in Glass Onion were just a little more fleshed out.
Hope you guys enjoy the vid :) FYI I've been doing blanc impressions for 3 weeks now, I need help

1. Co-wrote with Anthony Perkins, inspired by treasure hunt parties they used to give. Every time I comment on one of these reactions, I suggest _The Last of Sheila._ You're the first person I've seen do it before me. No one ever does it, though! Come on, reactors. It's a cheap rental on Amazon.
4. Co-wrote with Anne Waterhouse. Jabbar is a well-known Sherlockian.
@@Discworld-Edge-Witch Makes sense. I rewatched _Sheila_ several times last year after watching _Glass Onion,_ since Rian Johnson said he had been inspired by it. (I'd seen it before.)
@@HuntingVioletswith ANTHONY PERKINS? sold
I love how in your face the answer is the entire time- brilliant film
You should check out Murder On The Orient Express! It’s based on a Agatha Christie novel. It’s a real whodunnit mystery.
ayee i just commented same thing too! hercule poirot is amazing
The 1974 version. Not the 2017 remake. The remake butchers the source material in ways that hurt my soul.
@@Discworld-Edge-Witch do NOT watch 1974..im not trynna see dinosaurs walking around in the backdrop
@LawSamaa I adore the 1974 version! The remakes butchered Hercules Poirot's character. Silly moustache is not a replacement for good characterization.
@@Discworld-Edge-Witch fair enough
When this movie came out, you could get a Benoit Blanc outfit in-game in Among Us if you logged in within a certain time period
6:08 “Why is Ethan Hawke here?”
Answer: He was in the area shooting Moon Knight and came over for a quick cameo 🤣🤣
Good catch on the switch (and the instinct on what Miles is about). What's fun is on rewatch... if you know what to watch for... there's little tidbits that show what's really happening. Those elements just aren't highlighted like they are in the retelling / fugue view.
saying "what if waht andy did sets fire to his mambo jambo" was pretty accurate, except it was cassandra burning his house lol
One detail I like is how the character's masks say so much about their personality.
I really hope we get at least another movie for the Knives Out collection. I didn't like the end in one as much but it is still fun! I want more Detective Benoit adventures.
The third one is coming out next year. I do hope we get more after that but at least we know there's one more coming
@@tsuran3848we need at least one for all seasons
(my wish list is one in a ski lodge, where blanc is just vacationing with his husband and everyone is snowed in; and one at some sort of a theater production (specifically with rachel zegler))
36:17 When I was watching the film I was thinking he meant "hate for Miles and his empire" was why she walked away but you put it together instantly that Blanc left her with a hint to go after the Klear powered by hydrogen to destroy his home. Good sleuthing and detection skills all around.
Would love to see you more mystery movies in this style
It is fun to see you piece things together
My personal suggestion/request would be the recent adaptations of Agatha Christie "Murder on the Orient Express" (2017), as well as the sequels "Death on the Nile" (2022), and "A Haunting in Venice" (2023)
They are in a similar boat as Knives Out in which the main recurring character is the Detective, or rather Knives Out takes a great deal of inspiration from these (and other similar works) to have a central, recurring detective in the mystery to solve the clues laid out
it is crazy how fast i clicked on this vid
fr
Sameee almost broke my phone lol
Happy I'm not the only one lmao
I found it at 11 pm, i was already meant to be in bed, but i watched the whole thing😂
11:06 his clothes in that scene are an old style of bathing suit so wearing them in the water is quite natural. Yes it is very much ‘retro’ in style but so is the whole foghorn leghorn bit so it matches his character.
*in a blanc impression* I must say , I thoroughly enjoy these mystery type movie reactions KP !
It's a glass donut
I like how rewatchable this movie is
Just discovered your channel and as a mystery fanatic I adore your deductive reasoning, you’re so observant and clever! It makes this video so engaging!
Sad part they only did the right thing because of money or lack there of, instead of genuine😭
And because to save themselves a little bit. If the media is focused on Miles and all his friends accuse him, most people won't look at Miles' friends who took part in it.
Rats fleeing a sinking ship.
OMG, I love that you caught the drink
Your commentary is so good!! You're very perceptive, this and the last one were some of the best movie reactions I've seen in a WHILE
Just found your stuff, and I have to say, I love it. Keep it up! Edit: A few suggestions for things you might want to watch in the future: 12 Angry Men, Inception, Airplane!, and Clue.
clue would be 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃
Loved your reaction! There's so many cool details in this movie. Like Blanc not gagging like everyone else when getting the mouth vaccine bc it implies he's used to throat tickling by his partner (Hugh Grant).
Dude you are absolutely hilarious. I’m genuinely shocked that you don’t have more subs. These mystery movie reactions are gold 👌
OMG, I JUST subbed to your channel after watching the first one and this is perfectttttt
You’re so good at figuring things out! You called out a ton of things that ended up being important
Next ones to watch:
Ready or Not on Hulu (you'll LOOOOOVE this one!)
The Hunt (Hilarious and a great one)
The Menu (Will piss you off but a very entertaining, somewhat horror comedy/mystery film)
PURE MYSTERY FILM SERIES (emphasis on PURE): Murder on the Orient Express (2017) --> Death on the Nile (2022) --> A Haunting in Venice (2023)
and because I'm just noticing Ethan Hawke was in this film, Black Phone!!!! Brilliant film!!!
The 1970s versions of Pure Mystery series are far superior to the remakes.
As I grew up reading Agatha Christie mysteries, The remakes made me die a little inside.
@@Discworld-Edge-Witch I havent seen those ones, but I did hear they were super good! I'm definitely gonna check it out!
@@biancaeze14 I'd definitely recommend the David Suchet Poirot mysteries over Branagh's. Branagh's are very slick and modern, but Suchet gets the character a lot more.
Definitely recommend Kenneth Branagh's Hercule Poirot trilogy: Murder on the Orient Express most of all!
enjoy your intelligent "detangling" and analysis. well done!
If this was truly your first watch I’m very impressed at how much you picked up! Fun watch party.
I still wear my mask every where. My friend lost his dad to COVID.
Yeah, love this vid but that part upset me. Wearing a mask is nothing compared to death and disability. I get why ppl wanna move past early pandemic, but like its not over. 1k ppl die weekly in the US
Same! Rather not get long covid if I can avoid it
Same we all still wear our masks and have thankfully haven’t gotten covid.
I also love how each character has a mask (or lack thereof) that went with their personality.
a bit of an out there suggestion, but there’s a super fun, incredibly camp adaptation of Evil Under the Sun (the best agatha christie novel).
it’s the most fun “40s as seen from the 80s” romp with completely ridiculous looks and characters, but they kept the mystery as it should be
I just saw that recently! I love that movie
I also love the setup of the Fuge in the beginning, which puts the musical cue throughout the entire film
bro i just finished ur first knives out reaction and i wonder to myself if you’ve reacted to this and i check and here it is 😍😍
Oh well done.
Recommendations for classic murder mystery reactions (which heavily inspired both Knives Out movies):
The Mirror Crack'd (Starring the legends Angela Lansbury and Elizabeth Taylor)
Clue (Hilarious and weird)
The Last of Sheila
Murder on the Orient Express (the 1974 version)
Death on the Nile (1978)
Evil Under the Sun (1982)
24:46 you keep calling them out I love it😂
I still maintain that this movie should have ended with Blanc coming home and testing positive for covid
As someone who has loved ones with life threatening allergies tysm for looking out for your friend and even a stranger in a movie ❤
A donation so that you can BUY "The Last of Sheila" a mystery movie that you need to watch more so you can see what you missed the first time. And when you do pause at the 1:01 mark and commit to who you think did it.
Amazing reaction to amazing mystery movies!
this is a fun series!!! more mystery movies pls!!
Daniel Craig doesn't have a gag reflex.
🌝
I also think you would like Murder on the Orient express! Great reaction video!!
funny to think her journal helped a lot!
Ive not watched the reaction yet. Just giving a thumbs up and to say im excited
Can’t wait to see what you think!
my god what a brilliant suggestion!
i 100% agree with this recommendation, i would love to see him react to dark. it’s an incredible tv show that will have your head reeling with the twists and turns. it’s so well done and the attention to detail is insane, you’ll definitely need a notebook to keep track of everything!

Regarding Bond -
NO SPOILERS and as vague as I can
Each era of Bond is a little different; but Craig’s is unique among the others.
The Bond movies are hit and miss, but I'd say start with Casino Royale, and keep watching them until you stop enjoying them lol
If you want another great murder mystery that happens to share more than one cast member with Knives Out, I recommend Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011 version, Dir. by David Fincher).
Hope you're as pumped as me for the 3rd one coming out in 2025.
As whiskey would say: Hell Yeah!
you did so good with this one hahaha
"He's giving Elon Musk vibes" haha yes, you caught on early. he is 1000% an Elon sendup.
If you like these I recommend See How They Run with Saoirse Ronan! It gives me the same mystery/comedy vibes as the Knives Out films
Love that you caught on that miles was stupid early on ^
This is how i find out there's a second movie?! Daamn
Better warn you now, then, that a third movie, _Wake Up Dead Man,_ is currently being made.
I'd love to see more reactions to whodunnit from you. That was fun.
When you mentioned more than once Duke's pineapple allergy I thought you'd pick up immediately that was the "poison"
Director Rian Johnson has explicitly stated that yes, that's supposed to be the real _Mona Lisa_ burning up; I still have to wonder, though, since the real _Mona Lisa_ was painted on wood, not parchment, and Miles would never know the difference
Would LOVE to see you watch Murder on the Orient Express with Kenneth Branagh!
See How They Run is another fun Mystery semi-comedy.
Not that guy, but thanks for the recommendation.
You reminded me that I haven’t seen A Haunting In Venice yet!
Omg youre so quick!
I hope at some point this becomes a trilogy!
a third film has been announced :)
FINALLLYYYYY

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thank you why did no one else catch that 😭😭😭
I think I actually liked this one better than knives out. They're both great. But this one really hits home about systems of power and how the people at the top of them pretend to have gotten there fairly, when many times they are propped up by other bad actors. I think the themes in Glass Onion were just a little more fleshed out.
If you like investigations, take a look into Enigma of Fear, a new indie brazilian game. It's amazing!
I still wear masks now, I likely would have done it always if it was socially acceptable, but now it is so will not stop doing it lol
Mystery Time
Of course you would invite the person you killed because you aren't supposed to know they're dead.
Like others have said, the Benoit Blanc movies are great whodunnits
If they make Knives Out 3 I need to remember that the movie will lie to me lol
It’s out next year, called Wake Up Dead Man. Daniel Craig has said he’s willing to make them as long as Rian Johnson is willing to write them.
FYI - Joseph Gordon Levitt did the DONG sound. Just a random fact lol!
