    #####
    Franklin Joseph "Frankie" Lymon (September 30, 1942[5][6] - February 27, 1968[7]) was an American rock and roll/rhythm and blues singer and songwriter, best known as the boy soprano lead singer of the New York City-based early rock and roll group The Teenagers. The group was composed of five boys, all in their early to mid-teens. The original lineup of the Teenagers, an integrated group, included three African-American members, Frankie Lymon, Jimmy Merchant, and Sherman Garnes; and two Puerto Rican members, Joe Negroni and Herman Santiago. The Teenagers' first single, 1956's "Why Do Fools Fall in Love," was also its biggest hit. After Lymon went solo in mid-1957, both his career and that of the Teenagers fell into decline. He was found dead at the age of 25 on the floor of his grandmother's bathroom from a heroin overdose.[8] His life was dramatized in the 1998 film Why Do Fools Fall In Love. - Wikipedia

    Once I saw the movie I researched this man like crazy. He was pure talent and it's sad nobody around him kept him straight. He could have grown into an even greater artist had he never got onto drugs. RIP Frankie lymon 🕊️

    I wish that this song was released as a single instead of just being for the movie. It’s probably one of my favorites from this group.

    I’ve seen this video a bunch, but I just caught these hilarious mess-ups in their performance. On 0:41- Joe puts his hands on his head at the wrong time, and Sherman shoots him a smile. Then at 1:11, Jimmy forgets to put both hands on his head, and both he and Sherman end up laughing. At 1:15, Joe messes up again, and Herman gives him a BOMBASTIC side eye. Herman’s disapproving glances at Joe throughout the performance are funny as well. Despite the mishaps, Joe’s professionalism shines through; he remains composed and continues singing as if the errors never occurred, and the boys adorable reactions definitely added a cute charm to the performance❤😂.

    Frankie Lymon got hooked on heroine as a child so record execs and managers could steal his money. His story is tragic. Why Did Fools Fall In Love was a good movie, but it didn't go into detail about the crooks that surrounded him.

      Not really. During that time a lot of kids from Harlem were junkies. He was just a product of his environment. It was also common for music execs to take advantage of artists

    • @reelblack
      @reelblack  4 роки тому +4

      she died in the early 1990s. Watch The Legend of Dolemite documentary. There is a very brief clip of her. if you have Amazon Prime it is included. If you can get ahold of the Vinegar Syndrome BluRay/DVD of Dolemite, a short interview, Lady Reed Uncut is included. I think its the raw footage of what was used in the Dolemite doc.
