"Talkin' Loud and Sayin' Nothing" is a funk song written by James Brown and Bobby Byrd. Recorded in 1970 by Brown and the original J.B.'s with Byrd on backing vocals and updated with a new melody, it was twice released as a two-part single in 1972. It also appeared on the album There It Is.

I liked 1970 version better. 1970 sounds raw and full of passion, whereas the 1972 version sounds like it was remade for clarity; he seems more intentional about driving the message home. Both versions were executed well. Either way James Brown is 🔥

Bootsy & Phelps Collins were part of the Original JB's. They quit, & left to join PFunk. James Brown, determined to prove his royal badness, re-recorded the songs he had, regrouped and did it again. Hands down, James Brown is a pioneer.

I have been listening to James Brown since the beginning when it was James Brown and his Famous Flames 🔥 so I can’t remember not liking any of his albums but the 1972 version of this song is definitely funkier than the first one. But JB from the 70s to the 90s 13:05 13:05 influenced all of the Funk bands that came after im from Funkadelic to the Gap Band and Bootsie Collins just to name a few. By the way JB doesn’t get enough credit for the way he sang ballads.

Love the second version better. Mainly because of the rap bridge. But both versions are funk wallows.

Didn’t know there was an earlier version, I am much more familiar with the later one. With the second version, _James Brown_ had topped himself, since the second one is much better than the first one. 😊❤

Both versions are on Polydor, or the first is King Records, the second is Polydor. I Polydor bought out his contract.

I Love & Appreciate Both But The First Cut Is Rawer....Dirrrtier...Funkier....Looser.... Heavier. 2nd It Tight As Hell & Slicker Than A Cat's Back.

microphone tech was on point with the 1972 version, but as far as James sounding like he did at live shows, I go with the 1970 version
