  • Hello Beautiful People!
I received the new Adwoa Beauty Melonberry Vitamin C Frizz-Fighting Hair Gel. Thanks to the Adwoa Beauty team for sending it to me! I love everything Adwoa and I was so excited when I first found out they were launching a new gel. Even though it is marketed for fine hair, I had to try it out for you all. I really wanted to like this gel... but you have to watch my review to get all the tea!

So tired of high-end hair brands (especially those catered toward natural hair) deprioritizing heavy gels for tighter textures. So many “lightweight” and “medium hold” products on the market, none of them ever make a difference for me. I recently tried the new bread beauty gel and had similar results. I’d love to have something that feels luxurious/looks cute on my counter but I always end up going back to wetline :/

Wait how did the bread beauty gel apply? I've seen almost no reviews on it.
But yeah it's especially disappointing cuz both bread and adwoa are black owned and come out with these tiny bottles of products for high prices and that's just not for natural folks. 😩 That's why I'm mostly sticking to smaller brands now.

    • @kristen15917

Hey love. I can def understand your frustration. I remember there was a time when most gels coming out for natural hair or that was popular in the natural hair community but not necessarily made for us in mind, were more on the strong hold side. But these high end brands are not giving us girlies who like strong hold what we want. I do have a favorites gel video I posted a few months ago with some strong hold gels from some really good brands if you want to check it out ☺️😘

@@MsDecens brands like bread, adwoa, Briogeo, the Doux, and more are actually trying to sell you products that are actually loaded with great ingredients, and prevent you from over manipulating your hair by weighing it down, and over styling. We've been conditioned to thinking our hair is difficult and complicated, and we have to pile loads of product, when we don't at all.

You’re not the only one who experienced flakes. I’ve only seen one other UA-camr (can’t remember her name) use it and she had the same experience. She had fine and thin hair, she didn’t use a lot of the gel (as instructed), and she only used the melon berry leave-in underneath it. Flakes were flying everywhere.

    OMG love the volume!!
That was a lot of flakes. My hair is coarse but not dense and on soaking wet hair, I got a medium hard hold with tons of definition. After a few days I did get fine flakes, nothing you could see in my hair but when I shook it they were there. I was told by the brand to reduce how much I used (which was a pump and a half) so being heavy handed was gonna have you lookin like the winter princess🤣
    Tfs!

I assumed by the leave-in’s consistency, the rest of the styling collection was going to be light weight as well. I’m wondering if you’d get better results applying a lesser amount to soaking wet hair. That’s how I got the re-formulated version of UFD culry magic to work for me.

    • @NJEberhart
      @NJEberhart  Рік тому +1

Hey Tiahna 🤗 I know if I use less, then I won't get the hold or definition I want. Besides the flakes, my hair was frizzier than I prefer even when using a lot of product. So I just don't think this gel is for me. Thanks for watching 💕

You said it was like Camille Rose curl maker, which to me is somewhat like UFD curly magic that’s why I suggested using less with more water because that’s the only way those gels work for me. Loved this gel in my hair. It's definitely for fine hair. So I think you probably already knew this wasn't going to work for your hair. I'm on day 3 of my WnG with this gel and no flakes whatsoever. I think you shouldn't discourage others just because it didn't work for YOUR hair...unless you're talking specifically to the naturals with similar texture to yours. Fine curly hair girls definitely can use this successfully...😊

She used the melon berry leave-in underneath it and she wasn’t heavy handed with the product. “Fine curly hair girls definitely can use this successfully” might be a bit too definitive of a prediction given that folks across the texture spectrum seem to be having the same issue.

Question: I have tried braid/twist out. I really want to love and try to master them. I tried on wet, damp, dry, blowed hair. For whatever reason I just can't seem to get it right. Any suggestions bc you have DEF!! mastered it. Thanks again💜 Can't wait to see what' next

Thanks so much LaWanna ☺️. I know lot of people whether they have fine hair or thick hair were interested in the gel so I def had to review it. I don't think for me it would be a good base gel because of the flakes. But it may work for others.
If you are having trouble with frizz or definition, you def want to twist on wet hair. Use a brush to smooth out your hair before you twist and make sure you twist tightly. Hope that helps!

Hi love. I am not sure why some of you ladies are so upset with my review.
      1) I said in the beginning the gel is marketed for those with fine hair, not me. I wanted to try it anyways so I did.
      2) I did like my wet results and stated that
      3) when i got the flakey results, I did attribute it to having dense hair and using a lot of product. Therefore, if you don't use a lot of product, MAYBE is won't flake. for the type of results I like for my wash n go, I use a lot of product and other gels work fine for me this way.
      4) other ladies with fine hair have said it flaked for them in the comments.
      5) I love Adwoa and always support them. I always mention them in my videos and always buy from them with my own money

I'm sorry, but this whole review is flawed! The line is not meant for your hair texture. High density, medium to coarse hair is not made for that gel. I'd honestly use it as a base gel u see a foam, or stronger hold gel over it! Also, xanthum gum needs more water, and less product. It's not the product! Lol

Not sure how my review on MY hair is flawed especially when I said many times that this product was made for fine hair and I have very dense hair. But I still wanted to try it. People try products all the time that are not marketed for them. Some end up working and some don't. This one didn't work for me. So next time a person with fine hair complains that a product is too heavy for their hair I should consider their review flawed??? No that is just how the product performs on their hair. There are no rules to natural hair. I can try and review anything I want.
