It was watching this show that made me aware of the Cropredy Festival, though it was another 3 years before I plucked up the courage to go - missed 3 (including this year) since.
Thanks Richard, some confusion though as I don't have a sister. Are you thinking of Linda? It is only a coincidence that I nearly share a name with Linda Thompson's brother as he is Brian Pettifer. Needless to say I'm a big fan of Linda's music.
Martin Carthy & Fairport Convention interviewed by Sally from Tiswas. Every boy's 70's fantasy. I went to Cropredy Fest in '82 and went to everyone and still going. I wanted to go to the Broughton Castle even in '81 but you can blame Thatcher Monetarism and unemployment for that.
Great to see this again. I remember watching it back in the day and thought it was lost forever. How I wish Fairport could have stayed like this instead of the awful jokey thing they became in the 80s. RIP Swarb, Trevor, and Bruce. A speedy recovery to Jerry. Meet on the ledge we will.
At that sort of time DM and Bruce were both doing the odd winter tour and the like. Its not as if there was a fixed line up. They both had a lot of other committments.
I remember what a pleasant surprise it was to see this one evening on BBC.
Remember it distinctly. I was a 13 year old Fairport nut and couldn’t believe they were on the big telly!
Yes great footage of many great legends in the folk world
Fairport on great form as usual, I don't know how they kept up with Swarb at his peak, great footage, thanks for finding and posting it.
Oh no there he is..
Fantastic footage. Thanks for finding this.

@@BryanPetifer I was thinking it was Brian. Please forgive the lack of attention to detail.
Absolutely fab!
Trevor Lucas has been missed out of the credits poor man, lead voc on 'Iron Lion'.

How come there's Dave Mattacks and Bruce Rowlands?

Short period line-up
It wasn't really a 'line-up'. Officially, Fairport Convention didn't exist at the time lol.
