DIY: How to Make Pocahontas' Necklace!

- An Atomic Cupcake How To Tutorial: Make your own Pocahontas necklace out of clay! I found that it was a lot easier for myself to make the necklace and have it semi-replicate the original Disney version, than to buy a bunch of beads and make a necklace out of that. I really wanted it to look like the one in the movie and it did! I was really happy with the result and it wore perfectly when I wore it. I hope that you guys make it, or at least think about making it, if you are dressing as Pocahontas.

Materials needed:
-x-acto knife
-clay in Turquise and Silver (I used baking clay and it was very easy to work with. the brand I got was FIMO, and the colors I used were called "mint", although it looked turquoise, and "silver" and I found them at Michael's)
-straight edges (rulers, books, etc)
-string
-needle
-sewing thread
-baking pan
-oven

I made one a while ago in a similar way. I wore it at Disneyland and kept getting compliments even from Mickey and Anna (Frozen). You're gorgeous btw.

They wouldn't be too heavy, just don't use too much clay :) I've never thought about making earrings with this, good idea :)
Thanks :) I was working on my Jasmine costume and I was curious as to how to make the accessories by hand. I ended up just using fabric and still came out great but it's great to have other options :)
This is great!! I am going to be Pocahontas for Halloween and cant find the necklace anywhere! Only on websites as a cosplay necklace for like $90 its crazy so im thinking I'm going to just make it.
That's great! Yes, I looked everywhere for a necklace and couldn't find it...then I tried to make it out of beads but I really wanted something that looked like the necklace in the cartoon, so I just decided to make it. I still wear it even when I'm not dressing up haha it's great because you can customize it to fit you which is great!
I was considering of dressing up as Pocahontas for a disney princess half marathon. Would you think this necklace would be fine to jog/run with?
I think it will be ok! Don't use as much clay so it won't be as heavy and make sure to tie the string securely before your run :)

hi! I used the sculpey gloss. it's made especially for polymer clay and you can find it at your local craft store in the polymer clay section :)
