The music and visuals are perfect parodies of French pop culture in the 60s - the Umbrellas of Cherbourg, Bicycles of Belsize, etc. The colors and clothing styles are spot on.
Not a native speaker, although I have enough to get by, but I think the issue here is just poor quality audio/bad mix. At least for me I literally couldn't make the phrase out rather than couldn't understand it.
@@burnbash11 I hope your teacher corrected some of the sentences in the video, for example 'voyage' is more like journey, so you can't use it to mean 'trip to the supermarket', it's also 'au supermarché' not 'à le supermarché'. They could have said 'et maintenant allons au supermarché' (and now let's go to the supermarket). Also it's 'la conversation' not 'le conversation', 'un croissant' not 'une croissant', 'la bibliothèque' (it sounded like he said 'le' or 'les'). Very common mistakes for foreigners so I don't blame them, but I'm not sure I'd use this video to memorise these sentences xD
I showed this to a French friend of mine when it came out, having told him how hilarious it was, and he totally missed the joke. He was sitting there looking offended for the whole video and none of us were able to make him understand that it wasn't a joke about French people and their culture. It was kind of awkward, we just had to drop it and move on...
I had a French house mate named Francois, and he only bathed on Saturday evening, and that meant soaking in water with no soap for an hour. Dude reeked. Otherwise, he complained about all things American.
I had never seen the music video for this before, but watching it now I realize that I grew up close by to that park! It's McGoldrick Park in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Small world.
Man, I miss this show, but I guess I can understand why it wasn't some people's cup of tea. But I saw FotC in concert two summers ago and it was awesome!
Foux du fafa Is not entirely nonsensical , fafa , is an odd term apparently meaning french , so foux de fafa, means french fools 😂 which incidentally Brett and jemaine appear to be.
Hello my small currency exchange office.
I understood "bonjour mon petit oiseau des champs" au lieu de " petit bureau d'échange"
He stole my pick up line, damn you jemaine
"And the dance club?"
"It's here, baby!"
"Foux Du Fa Fa (nonsensical French-sounding phrase)"
I love it!
This is how I will learn French

Best way to learn my friend
This is how I DID learn French 🤪
Worked for me
How's your progress so far?

I'm a native French speaker and I actually needed subtitles to understand that Jemaine was saying "Bonjour mon petit bureau de change" XD

I'm not native, but I understood everything except that. I thought he said something about "chien", so thought something something "dog"
My French teacher showed us this in class and we were all like "Wtf?" But now I realize that foux du fa fa = infinite joy.
FOTC: Où est la bibliothèque
Albert Einstein: “The only thing that you absolutely have to know, is the location of the library.”
Why is this getting recommended to me 8 years later?
I needed this before.
My favorite song from them. It's so cute. And harmonious and funny.

The show was popular as shit and it not being some peoples cup of tea had nothing to do with it being discontinued.
