    As a native French speaker - and I presume I'm speaking for all of us - this is wonderful.

      à Avignon, il y a un restaurant appelé "fous de Fafa" tenu par un couple d'étrangers anglophones (mais je ne sais pas de quel pays)... on suppose que le nom vient de la chanson.

      as a french native speaker, from France, their accent is strong but very "worked on", like if a not very good english french speaker struggles against it, this is part of what it makes it funny to frenches I guess (+ french stereotypes, that underlines how our culture is seen weird to english speakers).

    What are they talking about in the middle of the song?

    • @TundraWolfe
      @TundraWolfe 6 років тому +32

      Basically the girl in the song (Bret) realised that the man (Jemaine) doesn't know how to speak French because he didn't understand when she suggested they go for a swim. She calls him out on it, he plays coy then admits he doesn't know French, she insults him, then he convinces her to go dancing and they make up.
      Not a direct translation, I don't know a lot of French, but that's the gist of it. The whole joke is that the man doesn't actually know how to speak French, just the little bits and pieces that you can pick up from pop culture. It's a good time.

      Nicolas Édouard Parzy-Jagla
      In what world would it be considered racist or degrading?
      It’s not making fun of French people, it’s making fun of English-speaking people who think they can speak French because of the words and phrases they picked up on in pop culture.
