I thought that you bought the birthday bourbon and opened it. I couldn't believe that he opened it just to share! That's a nice guy indeed! Cheers 🥃
It was pretty awesome of him to do that for us. Extremely nice guy! Cheers🥃
Yeah, I tried to talk him out of opening it for us but he wanted to share. Super cool dude!
Yeah me too.😂
Thats my type of store owner! If ever I am in the area...I will be visiting
Roy is an awesome man and friend
What a great store owner.
100%
Watched this video in time for my trip to San Diego last month. Met Roy there and he is even nicer in person! Such a great guy and loves talking bourbon and sharing. I am from Philadelphia and ended up getting a couple bottles of Stagg and EH Taylor with some other bottles, and Roy helped me package them so they got home safely. I would recommend this store to anyone in the area and if you are visiting from out of town go talk to Roy and have a great time trying some of his favorites!
If that place was close by i would be broke!!! Great bottles as far as the eyes can see and beyond
Howdy and what a nice guy to share and congratulations on your newborn son! I could feel Jaimes smile off camera as that Birthday Bourbon was opened! What a great collection in one place! Thanks for sharing! 🤠🇺🇸🇨🇱🥃
Haha 😂
Heavy Pours!! Cheers guys, and congratulations Roy.
Visited Sunset liquor when we were on vacation after seeing this video. Roy is a super nice guy! Gave us a taste of his Woodford store pick that was amazing, 1792 12 year and a smoked tequila for my brother. Ended up walking out with a Redwood Empire Foggy Burl and Patron Smoked Agave. Wish this store was closer I’d be there a lot. Great video and recommendation.
Very generous. My eyes are so bad that I'd have to bring in some binoculars to see the top shelf. BTW it's not an Oops Baby it's a Built-in-babysitter Baby. Cheers eh!
Great point!
Happy you both got to try the Birthday Bourbon, and for his blessing of a 4th child! Maybe a bit jealous, too! Amazing shop! Some real finds!
Wow. Some very good bottles I could never find in PA and Delaware.
Yeah, CA and OR both are really interesting
Nice museum they have there! Jack Daniels Coy Hill, would be interested what price they were at on that one, it's liquid gold! I wouldn't mind a second bottle!
Love to see it, great collection and pour. My friend since childhood owns a store, and is a fantastic guy who makes relationships and hooks people up.
I’m from California and this video gave me hope.
I needed this video about 6 months ago! Wish I knew about this place when we were there!
That's a dream right there. Strong pour too 🥃
100%
Just visited this store after finding your video. Wish I could have meet the owner. The lady working was rude and the prices are above secondary even for California. I guess a lot has changed in seven months. I even mentioned your video. Sweet Wheat for 199, Weller 12 for 299, EHT Barrel Proof over 400. Eagle Rare for 69.
Roy is a great person and generous.
Definitely gonna have to visit Sunset Liquor! What an awesome store and the gentleman clearly has his priorities straight!
I didn't capture his personal story, but it's actually amazing as well. A genuinely good person.
Viva Sunset and Roy!
Roy was such a great host!
Cali is a great place to hunt. You often find old releases just chilling on shelf that have probably been there for 7-10 years. I recently ran into a 15 year age old KC pick in the old bottle but you find all kinds of odd things. The best is finding those old Russels Picks when most of the picks were 11+ years old. Those things are as good as the 13 and Single Rick IMO.
Looks like a museum.
I have been to that store before! Had a pour with Roy. Bought my first Weller 12 and EC18 there. Cheers 🥃
Awesome
Beautiful bottle you purchase.
Awesome store collection.
I really appreciate you Vloging the video. It helps the store owner.
Plus let's others know the store location.
Good job.
Thank you so much for the feedback
Cool owner popping open some good bottles for the customers.
Jim Beam signature series is amazing
Thats a FREAKIN' MUSEUM!
I love that the OGD114 was right next to ECBP and Larceny BP!
I would definitely be take n a Michter’s Toasted Sour Mash home if I was there! Cheers 🥃
4:00 Cool to see the 3 Horse Soldier Bourbon expressions above the Elijah Craig there. Lots of good stuff their in California with selection. Always fly home with at least 1 bottle.
I enjoy horse soldier a lot!
A the first South Bay Hunt 🎉
If you want a bottle his is the man.
Omg very nice. I need to fly west and visit this store.
It's interesting to see differences between states!
Oh, they had Trails End next to the Old Forester. It's a definite hidden gem. I highly suggest it if you see it again.
Sipping on of 1910 watching this
Of course you will be a bit more forgiving to the museum when they give you a sample of a unicorn. Any store with that much allocated stock makes me sick. They likely have a ton more in back and they just horde it from their community. Do some raffles, donate it to charity events, do something to get those bottles into the hands of consumers instead of collecting dust on your shelf. If I were a distributor and I came in and saw that I would push you way down on the list.
Damn. Went RIGHT past that Redbreast! If you find a 12yr Cask Strength for under $100, pick it up. SO GOOD🤤🤤
Ah the old makers 46 CS bottle. I’d love to find one.
Two shoots for Roy!
Roy, congrats on child number 4 and for your love of the best.
Cheers, Roy!!!
Great store.. I'd have to deal on that coy hill
Great video and nice scores! Cheers 🥃
Thanks for watching!
Chaldeans(Christian Irqaquis) run all of the liquor stores and convenient stores in San Diego County. Some of the nicest people on the planet.
Yes, I couldn't remember what he said, but you are exactly right!
HA!!! try popping one open in Virginia ABC ….lol
I keep asking, but they never let me 😂😂
Nice selection, but y'all need to try some local craft stuff down there - 117 West or San Diego Distillery...you can get that KY stuff anywhere...! Cheers!
Thanks, I'll keep my eye out!
Dang! I was just in San Diego last weekend visiting my daughter in college!
How do they have that many bottles on the shelf especially cause the prices arent marked up full secondary like it is around me hell that buffalo trace is sitting on a shelf at my local store for 79.99
Noice pours! Woot!
Yeah, wish I had filmed opening that old JD! Great flavor, but a little thin at 80prf
So which is better if you have has the 1924 and the birthday bourbon.
id have bought that Makers Mark BEP instantly
I don't get to Chula Vista very often, but I'll have to check this store out the next time I'm in the general area. It looks like they have a lot of good stuff. I'll be curious to see what the prices are. Many of the stores around here are museums.
Didn’t know you guys are in California. I got a liquor store in Perris. Please visit.
That guy is an Angel. Wow!!! I'm blown away.
Yeah, he is a cool dude!
You're in my backyard. The owner is nice.
Wonder how much they wanted for that coy hill, had to find on the east coast, love the videos
Have tried the Jack Daniels Sinatra, if not you should it was on the shelf at your first stop.
Drive up to The LBC (Long Beach) and visit Corked on Stearns.
Next time I'm out there!
Hello!! I’m I. San Diego-that Travelers is in Costco for $31!! The one in Santee. Let me know if you want to check out another shop in Santee that has a great selection with awesome people. Also in Santee 🤙🏽🥃
Thanks for the heads up, will keep in mind next time we are in the area!
Traveler for $31 is a great deal. I’ve found it in Indiana for $36 and it is excellent. Well worth the money.
which 3 did u end up buying?
Blanton' SFTB, Mich Toasted SM, and Mich Toasted Rye
Frey Ranch??? have you had it? if so any good?
I hate drinking from those plastic cups.
Crazy prices.
Mini praxis or full size?
That store Deff does some dodgey stuff, I’d assume he sources from secondsry to have those bottles. In one clip in this video you showed a French weller 12 700ml in the box. That is not sold in the USA nor distributed . He did a nice thing sharing, but he sources all those highly allocated bottles id assume.
I'm not sure I'd say he does dodgy stuff unless you are familiar with California ABC laws and his operation. I will say we talked off camera about how much HH he has to sell to get just one case of the Old Fitz, etc. I can't speak to that specific bottle you reference though
Wish i woulda known u were gonna be down here in cali. I would have liked to shown u coupl spots to hit or grabbed a drink or 2 lol
That's awesome. Hope the rest of your trip was that good.
Nah, it was the only real hunting we did. Had family stuff I had to focus on
He didn't get that boxed weller 12 from a distributor. That and some other bottles appear to be from MustHaveMalts. From what I understand it's illegal for them to buy or trade for bottles and resell them in their stores.
did you say chula vista California!? haha i’ve got family there as well
Tall shelves. Better hope they don’t have an earthquake
I think they have little ones regularly, but it's never been an issue. If it were a massive one, I'm sure they'd all come crumbling down.
That’s what insurance is for apparently 😂
Did you see the Makers BEP on the shelf?? right next to the big ole giant thing at 1:23
Haha, no! Totally missed it!
Just be honest 😂 you HATED Birthday.
Are there many earthquakes in the San Diego area? 😬
Very rare. A lot of times you hear about one overnight or that you didn’t even feel and they’re almost always centered about 1-2 hours away.
@@carlossandiego7925 all those bottles on the edge way up to the rafters making me very nervous 😆
@@larrybatterson6651 😂 A lot of small liquor stores here will have them up high like that. Sometimes it’s like a library of liquor. No worries from earthquakes. 🤞
Constant tremors-hardly noticeable to most. Butwe've had recent flooding and tornado warnings!
Don't they have earth quakes in CA? Yikes
Unfortunately trying to watch on phone not big screen TV
Lots of pausing and zooming needed!
Why the heck would he pop those!!!
He was so excited to share!
Please, please, please stop calling Stagg Jr. “Stagg”. The two sit on opposite ends of the quality spectrum.
Buffalo trace officially renamed Stagg Jr to Stagg. www.buffalotracedistillery.com/our-brands/stagg/stagg.html
My error! Very sorry. I’m also sorry to hear that BT continues to disgrace the Stagg name.
That has a connect with RNDC and now Golden Spirits
