Ya, I’ve gone into a rabbit hole of “lebron is goat fanS” reacting my MJ and realized that they only say he’s the goat because they haven’t watched MJ
Man I’m 43 and MJ was must see TV. We use to go inside the house early because the MJ and the Bulls were playing. It was literally like a Michael Jackson concert when he was on. He did things I never thought were possible. He had no weaknesses to his game, maybe the three point shot but it wasn’t a big deal back then as it is today. I know everyone is on the Lebron wave but this video is a sample of MJ’s greatness, you had to be there to see it. Greatest show on earth 🌍.

No lie. I remember vividly the national championship game against Georgetown and Patrick Ewing. If you look closely at the old footage you'll notice there wasn't even a 3 point line painted on the floor. Super young Jordan with Sam Perkins and James Worthy on his college team...... just imagine if he'd gone straight out of high school into the NBA. Not sure what the result would've been, but he'd most likely have added 3 more years to his prime playing career and very possibly 2 to 3 more championships.

Watched 40-50 games a year from 1990-1999. There just isnt anything to compare. He was RELENTLESS. Whether it was regular season game number 10 or 54 or 82, he played 90% of his playing time like it was 4th quarter of Game 7 in the finals. Which is exactly why in 6 NBA Finals he never had to play a game 7.
One of the best things to ever happen to me. Got to watch his whole NBA career. Saw him play live from the floor at the United Center back in the day. It was surreal.

One of the best and most unbias reactions to MJ's mixtape. And there are two things Jordan couldn't do. Flop and devise super-teams. Man, was I extremely fortunate to have seen prime Mike ball in person. And those that haven't will never realize just how quick the Black Cat was. He was jaguar-like. Pippen wasn't even recruited out of high-school. He walked on at some little Univ. in Arkansas as a player/equipment mgr. His main duty was to keep everything tidy. Only reason he even played as a freshman was because a few teammates quit the team. As a rookie Scottie was beat out of starting small-forward spot by a cadaver (Brad Sellers). But after a couple of years under Air Jordan's wings, Pippen became a stud and Mike's main dookey stain.

Jordan made sure Scottie's talent evolved, especially on defense - where Pip had to try to check Jordan in practice. I can't remember what ex-teammate told the story of Pip getting a little cocky and challenging Jordan. MJ abused him so bad that Scottie had to tell Mike to slow down a bit.
MJ's combination of hang time, balance, accuracy, and english was super human. He made the impossible look effortless.
One thing to keep in mind when watching Jordan highlights is that he's posterizing some of the best rim protectors ever. 7 out of the top 10 players in BLOCKS PER GAME played their PRIMES during Jordan's era. 8 of the top 10 players in TOTAL BLOCKS played in Jordan's era. He didn't catch bodies because he wanted to - he did it because he had no other choice... The game was different back then. No one catches bodies like this anymore.
When it comes to your favorite player, stick with who you like. Personally, my fav is Hakeem Olajuwon.

Jordan used to use the body contact with other players to bounce and sometimes it was ridiculous the way guys were throwing the body at him, he would create the unbelievable skill to bounce at them or pause on the AIR (yes i said pause on the AIR) and he would exchange hands more than once to deviate others arms and still he would not miss the rim. and the defense got to maul ya back then, too..no ticky tack light contact fouls like today...didn't stop Air Jordan anyway...All the big men got posterized by him multiple times during his reign. He'd KILL in today's game.

What?! One there was less coverage, less teams and less other sports. There are way more viewers of everything now. There is actually a cannonball championships where people compete to make the best cannonball dive and it is on one of the espns. No way that was televised 30 years ago.

He is with out a doubt the best to ever play the game; at every level! That includes West, Robertson, Chamberlain, Frazier (my idol), Thompson, Irving, Bird, Magic and Kareem. I remember after the loss in Game 1 of the 1998 Finals I was so angry because I want to see him win. Fortunately they won the series in six games and I skipped a day of opening day of new school year just to watch the Finals. Everyone's glued on TV in my country back then. All the fans of teams that Jordan beat in the playoffs especially know how great he was in the clutch especially. He had a will to win that is matched by few and Lebron doesn't even come close. What he did my Suns in 93 was heartbreaking.
Barkley was so good that year. I wasn't convinced he was a leader, but he elevated his game, and became whatever the Suns needed him to be to win on any given night. Barkley gave everything he had in the finals, leaving his soul on the court. I had never seen one man go toe to toe with MJ like that, without fear. Barkley's will to win was too strong to be intimidated by Jordan's onslaught. Unfortunately his very best was not good enough, as Jordan turned it up to god mode. We got to witness a helluva duel tho.... Aside from maybe Lebron, i've never seen such a monumental finals effort go unrewarded.

I was a spurs fan back in the day but I'll admit, when the bulls came to town...we were all there to watch the master do his thing. He was just unbelievable to see live. It's a shame this generation never got to see the greatest show on earth.
Jordan attributed everything he did to PRACTICE. He was so mentally prepared that he was in a dream world, and just reacted with no pain or worry.

47 year old, born and raised in Chicago. I, along with so many others, was blessed to watch this man play every day for a franchise that was pretty much the bottom of the barrel team prior to his arrival. MJ put Chicago basketball on the map. Yes, these highlights are CRAZY but you know what..he played this way EVERY SINGLE NIGHT! There was nothing he couldn't do on the court. His game was fundamentally perfect. The footwork, knowing how to use the glass to bank shots in, using the "english" on the ball to "steer" it into the basket. He had every trick in the book and he was a master of them all. Zero weaknesses on offense and defense. When he came into the league he loved to soar through and over everyone. Until people started saying he couldn't shoot the ball. So, what did he do? He developed one of the best mid-range games ever! The nearly unstoppable fade away to go along with his solid 15' jumper. Then they said he couldn't shoot the 3, lol. Look what he did in the '92 finals. 35 first half points including six 3's in a row.
If anyone said there was something he couldn't do, he would go out there and prove them wrong. They also said that a scoring champ couldn't lead a team to a championship. Well, he only has 6 rings to show for that, lol. He was a once in a lifetime player. We'll never see the likes of MJ again. If anyone thinks LeBron is close to Michael, I know they never watched Jordan play. Michael would destroy LeBron and I'm not saying that just to try and put LBJ down. Jordan would've removed any confidence LBJ has in himself. The reason I say that is cause I don't see the killer instinct in him. I don't believe he has that in him and that's what separates the two. The jumping from super team to super team. The crying LBJ does and the extreme flopping that he does wouldn't cut it in the 90's let alone against a killer like MJ. A few other players have matched his 48" vert, I don't think anyone ever has beat it; and I all but guarantee that those that matched it didn't have his hand size which was as large as most 7ft centers hands. If you watch his and Birds mix tapes you see a lot of similarities to him and Dr J. he was just 3 in smaller then Bird, and WAY more athletic when he did those things. Also understand that while these are his highlights, you would see this type of things nightly. It's why the NBA went from being saved by Magic/Bird to being a world wide sport w/Jordan.

Man, not trying to make you envious but watching prime Mike in person was mesmerizing. I've seen some of the greatest athletes (Bo Jackson, Walter Payton, Barry Sanders, Earl Campbell, Randy Moss, Megatron, Jerry Rice, Reggie White, Lawrence Taylor, Deion Sanders, Ronnie Lott, Tyson, Ray Leonard, Mayweather, etc.) in person and none of them pumped my blood like Jordan. The guy was electrifying! The buzz in the arena was insane. I was extremely fortunate to have seen him a few times against the Clippers at that old LA Arena. Every single one of those games seemed like a Bulls home game. The adulation the guy received from fans, celebrities, opponents was like nothing I have ever seen. Everyone did want to be like Mike!

The first thing you have to do to bring back that defense is get rid of the defensive three seconds rule. The big guys could just clog the paint back then. So if you were a guard you had to be great at penetrating.

@@dunsonhouse Yeah I’m not saying it’s a bad thing if there’s a defensive three seconds rule, but just think how hard it was to get to the basket when you’ve got four guys camping out in the paint knowing you’re coming. I think instituting that rule is a big part of why the league changed. Defenders stay more spread out, so you end up with a lot more wide-open looks and dunks. Leads to more scoring. Good for TV.
