He is the greatest basketball player to ever walk the earth. And I don't see anybody today doing what he was doing back then. He was the complete package.
Jordan was just different. I started watching the NBA because of Magic and Bird, then watched MJ dismantle the league, onto Kobe, Shaq, Duncan, DWade, Lebron, KD, and everyone in between. I've never seen anyone who had the insane combination of attributes he had: not just off-the-charts athleticism (though he clearly was a freak of nature--48" vert, 4.3 40, ridiculous body control, amazing anticipation and adjustment, ginormous hands, always on balance, the hang time, etc.); not just a crazy work ethic to always improve (came into the league with plenty questioning his size, defense, overall shooting--transformed himself into Defensive Player of the Year, bulked up, worked tirelessly on his shooting from every midrange shot on the court until he could find his spot anywhere); not just will to win (one of the most clutch performers of all time--shot 50% during 99% of the game, and when it was on the line with all the pressure and everyone knowing he would have the ball. . . shot 50% on all those buzzers beaters--the definition of clutch); not just his durability (he played all 82 games in most of his seasons with the Bulls); and not all the accolades and records. It was the sum total. No one was the complete basketball player he was on both ends of the court, every minute of every game. He was maniacal, an assassin, and the ultimate winner in college, Olympics, and the NBA. This mixtape, while awesome, only scratches the surface. He did something mind-blowing practically every night he stepped on the court, and that's not hyperbole. This isn't a mixtape--it's a small sample snapshot of what he was like on the regular, game in and game out. I agree the league has tremendous athletes, but never been anyone like him, and I seriously doubt we'll see anyone like him again.
MJ also had one of the biggest hands in NBA history. Strength/athleticism giant hands Basketball IQ and his fire to win……Todays NBA wouldn’t stand a chance
As if these dudes in this era actually plays D. MJ wasn't ahead of his time. He's better than all the player who play today. Dudes wasn't just letting MJ score. They couldn't stop him. Luka is slow and unathletic. And none of the players can stop him. But they could stop MJ? No!
Yup i was hearing his dumb commentary As if he would of stopped him No one could stop this man then or today This myth that the talent level is greater today is just that a myth created by these kids
I started watching the NBA before the Toronto Raptors even existed. It was all because of MJ. I was impressed by his leadership skills and offensive & defensive domination. Michael has won the Scoring Title 10 times, meanwhile, LeBron has won the Scoring Title just once. LeBron has played in 20 seasons and MJ just 15 but he still has accomplished way more. Here are some trophies & awards just in the 1980s before his 90s outburst: - 1984 NCAA Player of the Year - 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles (Gold Medal) - 1984 first game in the NBA - 1984/85 NBA Rookie of the Year - 1985/86 missed 64 games with a broken foot and went to the playoffs vs. Boston who were 40-1 at home. Michael scored 49 pts in game 1 & in game 2 he recorded 63 pts (critics and opposing fans) criticize MJ and the Chicago Bulls for failing against the Boston Celtics. However, look at the numbers I mentioned. What else could he have possibly done? - 1987/88 Defensive Player of the Year and Regular Season MVP - 1987 & 1988 Dunk Contest Champion back-2-back years - 1989 hit "The Shot" that sunk the Cavs And then the 6 NBA Championships in the 1990s
No one could stop him, and he attack and defend. Imagine if he play today's era without defense... all his power only in offensive stats... 50-60PPG. Don't forget he played every play... he didn't miss anyone like today
You cannot trap Michael Jordan because he does not allow himself to get chat trapped he's always moving he his fundamentals he's probably the most fundamentally sound basketball player that ever played the game he never allows himself to get trapped he always leaves himself and out Not to mention he's probably got the quickest first step of anybody that ever lived that's why they also calling the black cat because he's so fast he's got that first step and that's all it takes that he's gone
I came to say exactly this. Also, back then they couldn't zone defend. They had to be within a couple of steps of the person they were defending or commit to the double/triple team on MJ... and because of Jordan's quick first step, he was already airborne before help could get there. He knew where the help was coming from and almost always curled away from the help. You don't see people attack defenses like MJ would. I'll say this... at least Dar recognizes greatness and isn't too stubborn to admit someone is greater than whom he idolizes. It's also refreshing when a reacter can name the players that MJ just cooked, because at least they'll be able to compare MJ to someone.
Yeah his speed, exceleration and his agility was ridiculous and defied physics for his size, never soon someone 6’6 moving like they’re 5’8- 5’10 before, to me his the greatest athlete to ever live for his over all build but to say he has the quickest first step to ever live is a load crap, most 5’6 - 6’0 pro soccer players have a way quicker first step since they have smaller frames not to mention the quickest people in the world, world class sprinters
It's really hard to trap a player who's quick and strong with high bball IQ. Remember you can hand check him while dribbling. You can touch his waist or even his arm/shoulder as he dribbles the ball. He had ton of moves and can attack u from different angles. And ofcourse he had one of the deadliest pull up jumpers in history. Then add the fact that he was good in drawing double teams to find an open shooter or big man underneath. He averaged 11 apg in the 1991 finals. That last possession in the double nickel game showed us how good he was in drawing double teams and finding the open man. In short, you really couldn't tell what he was going to do and how he would score against u. Look at Luka, he's slower and less athletic than most nba players, but they couldn't perfectly trap him because of his fundamentals and bball IQ.
Great comment. I scratch my head when some folks say it was easy for MJ. Well yup, he made it look easy because his anticipation skills were off the charts, plus he could score any which way. The mark of a truly great player is how easily he scores. Dude took and made tough shots, but he just as well was incredible at getting open shots without running around like a headless chicken.
I’m late to this party, but while I agree with just about everything you said, and I hold Jordan as the GOAT by a pretty big margin, I would only argue that Allen Iverson probably had the quickest first step ever. I’ll bet the players of Iverson’s era thanked their Makers that Iverson wasn’t 3-4 inches taller and didn’t play on a stronger team.
MJ wasn’t ahead of his time..he’s still ahead of time. Nobody jumps like MJ. He’s the only player in history that could leap off one or two coming out of full stride and reach max vertical
LeBron James can have the GOAT Title, he's just a kid , but Air Jordan is the GOD of basketball, now you can't beat that . By the way, have you ever notice how close related Nike to AIR JORDAN , AIR ! ISNT NIKE A GREEK GOD , SO THEY'RE SAYING THAT AIR JORDAN IS A GOD , HE WAS A phenomenal , very rare we see such Magnificent Talent ! AIR JORDAN, THE GOD MAN OF BASKETBALL! Michael Jordan . Let it be understood!!!
@@mikenyce539 Many people could jump. But Jordan's agility, balance and his versatile leaping off one or two feet made him different. Vince was primarily a two foot leaper but he didn't have the hang time MJ had. When Carter was in the air, he was high but Jordan just added a flair that no one besides maybe Doc had.
Great reaction man! These highlights were basically the same feeling you got every single time he played. Mike made the Bulls games must-see-TV. Even non-basketball fans watched the NBA because of him so they wouldn't miss out. You just knew that every time he played, you would see something otherworldly. When MJ retired the first time, he had already 3-peated with nothing left to prove, but kids in high school were crying, teachers stopped class to hear his announcement. It was like Superman died... no exaggeration. Players like Lebron said they cried too. In the 90s his career was so meteoric, that he easily became the most famous person on the planet. The best part, his gameplay backed up all the hype.
So damn true! I hated Mike since I was a Magic and Lakers fan but I didn't miss any games they showed on TV. I even made sure my cable company provided WGN. He was must see like prime Tyson on HD TV.
Mike was basicly a cheat-code, because he had no weakness. You're right, he was way ahead of his time. He not cooked the Knicks every time, one time he needed 7 games. That's not cookin' someone. People tried to double him early, the result was, he passing and you gettin' the 3 from Hodges, BJ or Paxon. Pick your poison. It wasn't just Mike, the team was well build around him.
it’s a team sport so naturally you need others around you to succeed but he made all those guys better…they wouldn’t have been half the players they were if it was for mike elevating they games
i love that you caught his off-hand block @18:37 and had to pause. MJ is the GOAT for sure. i didnt see all his games, but in every game of his i saw, he did something - a shot, a block, a strip, a pass, a rebound, a save - some play that made me think "wow, this is the best basketball player i've ever seen"
The best reaction is always to that block when he spins around after missing it the first time. Every reaction is that realization that when people talk about Jordan's defense, we aren't lying.
Imo, Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time! He is a living legend! There's a reason people still buy, or seek, Air Jordan shoes.
He wouldn’t have to adapt much to today honestly. He’s slicing through so many defenders in times where defenses were allowed to have three in the key and be far more aggressive. In todays spread out and watered down league, he’d average around 20 free through a game and good luck keeping him out of the paint. Oh and the rare video that’s out there of him is even better than this one. IMO
Yes, it would be a lot easier for him to play now, he'd just have to focus more on his 3 pt game, which we know very well he could do. He always improved whatever he had to, and he could already shoot 3s anyway.
11:47 Steph Curry did a similar move last season to the Knicks. You mentioned Jamal Murray too later on with the mid air hand switch moment.. that's what makes Jordan so great, players today can do some of the things Jordan did, but Jordan is an all-in-one package.
I've been an NBA fan since the mid 1970's and coached youth basketball for years. 2 of my 3 sons played competitive basketball through high school here in North Carolina. My middle son even attended camps with Stephon Curry that his dad, Dell Curry, sponsored here in the Charlotte area. My personal top 3 are: 1. Michael Jordan, 2. Larry Bird, 3. Magic Johnson. After the top 3, it’s more debatable to me. I’ve seen everyone over the last 45+ years. IMO, these players had the best BALANCE of FG%, FT%, clutch play, great offense, great defense, makes teammates better, great team play, shares the ball, passing ability, finishing, coachable, high basketball IQ, finds a way to win, has all areas of the basic fundamentals down pat, seeks high % shots FIRST, knows where teammates are on the court at all times, able to score while being fouled, played against tougher competition, played against great defenses. No one today has ALL of these attributes. These 3 are the only players ever to not have any holes in their games at all. Not even Lebron can match this. He flops, gives up on defense ( a huge negative), and has choked in too many key games. All of these negatives are glaring and brings down his value. To me, only Michael, Larry, and Magic had ALL of these attributes and are (by far) the most clutch and best players of all time. Consistently winning the close games is what separates icon players from everyone else. No players after my top 3 come close to doing it at the level they did. Though today's players have a lot of talent, most players lack most of these attributes and no one has all of them. Defense and team play are almost nonexistent today compared to the 80’s/90’s. Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and Magic Johnson (by far) are the most clutch players of all time, did it against the best defenses of all time, and did it during the most talent rich era of all time (80’s/90’s). Because of the addiction to three pointer, lack of teamwork, and lack of defense the game of basketball is not nearly as exciting and interesting. It seems that many young people who do not understand the fundamental attributes of the game and haven’t seen players pre -2000 play night in and night out are the ones who claim that Lebron is the best. Older people who have seen decades of the best players know better. Anyway, overall, Great video.
I started watching this game in Magic's rookie season 1979 when I had to stay up late to watch NBA Finals on tape-delay. I never had the patience to coach but I used to get some tenacious runs all over gyms in Orange County with Sean Rooks, Cedric Ceballos, Corie Blount, Miles Simon, Reggie Geary, Adam Keefe, Doug Gottlieb, Tony Gonzalez, Cherokee Parks, Schea Cotton (beast), Alonzo Jamison, Jeff Fryer and some other headbangers I can't remember off the top. I agree with everything you said except I have MJ #1, Magic #2 and Bird #3.
thanks for reacting to this amazing video! I've seen it a zillion times and each time I see it, it creates a level of excitement and surprise that one player could be sooo dominant against some of the greatest legends to ever play the game....for each second you take your eyes off the screen, you miss a handful of MJ moments because the editing of this video is top notch and very fast paced (thankfully there are some slow motion replays built into the video.). Michael Jordan's Best Rare Video (Voyager) here on youtube is just as amazing as this video...jaw dropping plays upon plays....MJ doesn't seem to play the game as normal human beings do....maybe he really was/is an ET from another galaxy. 👽💥✌
If you have all the basketball players in history at their prime to pick from to be on your team, you pick MJ first every time. These guys aren't letting him do anything, he is doing this to them, and would do it to anybody, no matter the era. You can not stop him. Period.
Saying you need to come at Mike with a "perfect trap" is one thing, executing it is another. MJ was just THAT good that he made great players look average. Look at all the legends he's cooking in this video - Bird, Barkley, Ewing, Thomas, Dumars, Drexler, Robinson etc.
In an interview, Kobe Bryant said that the 1st time he guarded Jordan, he knew exactly what Jordan was going to do. Kobe said he prepared to D up Jordan, but then realized that there is a difference between knowing what Jordan was going to do and being able to stop it. Kobe said even watching Jordan live gave you no idea of how fast Jordan was.
Too easy? Imagine in today's ultra-plush Tempurpedic pillow soft NBA? Where there is no more perimeter pitbulls on guard and where the rim protector is as extinct as Woolly Mammoth. Check any list of the greatest perimeter defenders all-time and I guarantee you you'll see Moncrief, Alvin Robertson, Rodman, Michael Cooper, Dennis Johnson, Gary Payton, Joe Dumars, Pippen (who defended Mike in practice). None of them could stay in front of MJ. You're not understanding just how quick he was off dribble or jab-step. I was extremely fortunate to have scene prime Mike in person a few times and my 20/20 vision just couldn't grasp how quick he was. He made the best perimeter defenders all-time look they were wearing concrete block shoes. Zeke Thomas once said that Jordan was so good that at times it looked like he was playing against high-schoolers. Durant, who's an elite player and athlete told Jay Williams that if Mike played today he'd easily be the best player on the planet. Kevin knows hoops like Bo Jackson knew Nike cross-trainers. Black Jesus is the GOAT of a lot of peoples GOATs (Bird and Magic). After the first time Bird played Jordan (rookie season) he told a Boston Globe reporter "that guy is going to best the greatest ever - you just watch." Not only did Larry become a legend he became a prophet. No bias here - I hated Jordan growing up cause I've bled purple & gold since Magic's rookie season. Magic is my favorite player all-time but without hesitance I proclaim MJ to be the GOAT. If he played today he'd still be ahead of his time. Who now plays like him? We haven't seen that type of aerial artistry since he retired. If someone today had even half of Jordan's game I would not have cancelled my NBA League Pass. The guy was a beast. Animal in man. His Airness aka Chupacabra - he who disemboweled GOATs.
@@toddjohnson271 MJ owes some of his greatness to them bad boys. The way they fiercely defended him made him get stronger to be able to absorb that prison yard punishment. Can you imagine a player today experiencing that type of physicality? They'd go on permanent load management.
@@katrinachavez3533 Its always just learning to be a champion. We had to go through it with the Celtics....and that process sucks. I knew early on he was gonna dominate all of them. You could tell. I had no idea he would be the GOAT. And yes on that style. Jordan would be even more successful now. NO QUESTION.
@@toddjohnson271 That's the way it was back then. Had to face adversity before you persevered. Made you hungrier to achieve it and more satisfying after you did. Them days are long gone. Cats today rather devise super-teams. Man, I hated them Pistons. They were so good defensively. Unfair how they had two top 10 all-time perimeter defenders (Dumars and Rodman). The Worm is the most amazing perimeter defender I have ever witnessed. I despised him when he played my Lakers cause he could check Magic on one play then Worthy on the next and even Kareem if need be. And he played with so much tenacity. The guys' stamina was nuts.
You could never trap him If physical defense ain’t cut it, what makes you think a trap would work He averaged 33.5 in the postseason 41.0 in the finals He had every offensive tool He was a shutdown defender His 88 season is the greatest season in sports history He won the scoring title steals title dunk title all star game mvp regular season mvp defensive player of the year all nba first team all defensive first team that was just the 87-88 season Nobody can touch his resume 5 times he averaged over 40 a game in a playoff series Never lost in championship play College Olympics nba championship he is undefeated His name has become the symbol of greatness and excellence in all of sports None can touch Mike He is the absolute greatest of all time
Most of the common clips youngsters see of Jordan are his career highlights like the shot he hit over Ehlo and the shot over Byron Russell, etc. But the stuff Jordan was doing routinely on a nightly basis, especially in the late 80's early 90's were absolutely absurd. He was basically an alien. You should react to the KD and Jay Williams' discussion about Michael Jordan. KD is an absolute student of the game. And KD is in total awe of Michael Jordan!
Early in his career, Mike didn't trust his teammates. When he got double and triple teamed, sometimes he tried to do too much and wasn't as successful as he should have been. When he got better teammates and felt he could trust them, it almost became impossible to double and triple team him. You are correct, some players have his ballhandling ability now, some have his shooting ability, some have his athleticism, some have his passing ability and some have his defensive ability. But few if any have all of those in one package. Then when you add in his drive, work ethic and will to win and even now, I don't think there are any players with that total package today.
No he was successful at scoring on 2 or 3 guys. That's part of the reason he didn't trust his old teammates along with the fact they were on coke. When the playoffs came around, the 1 on 5 ball didn't win. When he fell into the triangle and his teammates got better, it opened everything up for Jordan.
@@mpound97 The Bulls got rid of the cokeheads before Mike's third season. There were four more years before he won a title. Part of it was getting better teammates but part of it was Mike learning to trust teammates. That was the knock the first 5 or 6 years of his career, that he tried to do too much by himself. And of course, Mike struggled sometimes against double and triple teams. He was the best I have seen at beating consistent double and triple teams but he isn't perfect. Christmas day in 86 is a great example. Nationally televised game. He goes 10-28 from the field with 6 turnovers. Bulls up by 1 with 8 seconds left. He forced a 15 foot jumper over a Ewing double team even though he had a guy wide open on the baseline. He missed. Ewing hit the game winner at the buzzer. Jordan is the greatest player I have ever seen by a wide margin, but I have seen him have some really bad games, where he should have utilized his teammates better.
@@UtoobzzLike I said he didn't trust his teammates. I didn't say he was wrong for not trusting them. Mike was a good passer. From 1987-88 through 1997-98 (the time Scottie was with the Bulls), Mike averaged 5.5 apg and Scottie 5.3 apg in the regular season and in the playoffs Mike averaged 5.6 apg and Scottie 5.2 apg. Mike got an unfair rap being called selfish.
MJ will always be the GOAT,PERIOD!!! Everybody wants to be like MIKE. AI,Allen Iverson, gave an amazing speech at Mikes Hall of fame induction. AI showed a lot of respect during that speech.
Best first step in the league from beginning to the start of the second 3peat, 48 or 50 inch vertical and could run the 40 in 4.3. don't let anyone tell you had any flaws it's all bs at least when it comes to playing basketball.. he'd dominate today like did back then.
And what we see now today? None of these dudes are doing today what MJ did in his prime. a old injured MJ in the early 2000s was avg 29ppg over the 10 games before he got hurt. Against zones. Also, the players back in MJ era were just as skilled as the players today.
Michael Jordan would average 50 points a game easily in todays ZERO defense league and would still be the best player/athletic in the world. He was routinely dunking on 7 plus footers in a hard nose nba era. Jordan would make fake ass draymond retire early. He would cook ANY NBA player. MJ WILL dominate 2day.
He'd definitely average between 45 and 50 ppg. Don't forget them 7 footers MJ was putting on vintage posters weren't like today's Vagisil soft bigs. They were some of the greatest defensive bigs all-time (Hakeem, David Robinson, Mourning, Mutombo, Eaton, Ewing, Parish, Rollins). Draymond would have a better chance at taking a selfie with Sasquatch than checking MJ. Mike would cook today's cadavers like Ed Gein after a hunger strike.
We saw Jordan play in the right era. He would make it look too easy if we dropped peak MJ in today's game. No posters, too much space, less creative finishes. We needed 80's, 90's era to bring out the best we could see.
@@bwink23 Man, Jordan was Manson maniacal. Pure psycho like Norman. He'd pay perimeter defenders to double him so he could split them like Mr. Bates' personality and pay bigs to stand under bucket so he could put them on vintage posters.
As a MJ fan, I resisted watching Kobe. The first time I watched him,, I saw how much he had learned from MJ..he was incredible. My 2nd favorite player, for sure. Killer instincts, both of them.
While watching that, remember that Jordan did that back in the 80's and 90's when "Thug Ball" Defense was still encouraged! Not like today's soft league that BANNED Defense to make scoring easier! Jordan in today's no defense league with no players in the post would average 50ppg!
This is why us old timers know better and there was so many players before MJ that were doing things no one else did that.Basketball has a rich amazing history but the younger generation just doesn’t get a chance to see and now maybe with all of the social media as of today that can happen and truly know about Hall of Famer‘s
As a Durant fan just watch what he says about Jordan. MJ is the greatest ball player ever and probably athlete ever! He had zero weakness out there but more then anything for me was his unshakable desire will to win! These moves were every game man, you constantly watched with your jaw on the ground snd opposing team crowds would give him ovations during games I remember he was that otherworldly good! Also there was no defensive trap for him, he always had an answer no matter what, sounds crazy i know but this is the truth!
MJ played Bird, with a foot still partially broken at age 23 on a 30 win team, then on a rebuilding team at age 24. Prime Jordan never faced Larry Bird in a playoff series. When MJ reached his prime, & peak, Bird was still in the nba, but the injuries had taken a toll.
He’s blowing by the trap cuz he attacks the 2nd defender. Hoop 101 and they ain’t letting him go by MJ has a 4.3 & elevates off one or two is strong as a bull…tell me how you defend the most fundamentally sound player and athletic?
Good reaction bro! You have to realize the he wasn't ahead of his time...he was right ON time lol. Simply put, if Mike didn't exist, then the guys today wouldn't be doing what they are doing. Mike (and Hakeem) laid the blueprint for basketball back in the 80's & 90's
Here's a question for you my guy...you clearly was the BEST in his era and the previous era before him, so tell me in today's era who could do what MJ did on the court? Or who have you seen replicate what he's done on the court, meaning his basketball skills and gifts ??
he was double/triple-teamed, he was just so quick! he was also great @ play-faking... those players he play-faked were funny. 🤣.. where did he go? where's the ball?🤣🤣🤣
He said he was doing things guys are doing now but I seen a bunch of highlights ain’t nobody doing now MJ is the Goat he had freak athleticism, unbeatable work ethic the best set of awards and hardware and the best 2 way player ever 10 scoring tlitles and all defensive first team in all them years
And that's no hyperbole. I'm from Cali and have bled purple & gold since Magic's rookie season but I made sure my cable company provided WGN just to watch Black Jesus take flight in his colorful Nikes.
No one has Michael's skills today on defense and offense combined. You can't name one player that has his offensive arsenal and defensive tenacity. A true 2 way player
You can't trap the guy, one of the best defensive teams in history (bad boy pistons) sent 2-4 guys at him most of the games (Jordan rules) and he still averaged over 30 against them. That's when you could hand check, hold and be physical. With todays rules he could average whatever he wanted.
And so would the rest of us. This cat is in dire need of Lasik. If players today were doing HALF of MJ's moves I wouldn't have cancelled NBA League Pass. I don't even watch when they give it free for a week. Who in the hell wants to see fast-breaks that lead to three-pointers, a bunch of flopping and zero tenacity at defensive end? Not too many people according to the ratings.
Nobody in the history of basketball moved like him. Impeccable timing. Both ends. Off the chart’s creativity. Biggest heart and hustle. And to put that talents along with it? You get an absolute basketball GOD!!🙏🏼💪🏼👊🏼
Real Talk I'm glad ur IMPRESSED by JORDAN 90% of the PLAYERS are INFLUENCED by him and his SHOES are another story, THE JORDAN 3 first shoe with the AIR BUBBLE... changed the shoe game..fr
There's plenty of stuff here that you don't see from anyone else. His uniquely incredible hang time (with full control through contact) and hand size allowed him moves no one else can do. A layup package we've never seen. Kyrie is already on the ground before Jordan decides how to finish after triple clutching. MJ's tongue has more aerial moves than KD (sorry).... Even the fundamentals of the game have rarely, if ever, been executed so beautifully and efficiently. The turnaround jumpshot at 24:35 is exquisite.
I told Jordan played in today's game he would easily average 50 points a game and he played in a time where when you went to the room you got clobbered you had to deal with hand checks they don't even have hand checks anymore i mean they couldn't stop them they asked him at the age of 59 how many points
love the videos bro we love larry bird too :) 🤗🤗I want u to react to some baseball highlights any ones you see and like also i can see this brings you back to your past time.
Not only was Mike doin this stuff first, he did when teams were fundamentally sound on defense and gave you no free baskets. These guys today have space and dont have to worry about being slammed to the ground like in Mikes day. Mike would be an absolute GOD in todays NBA and would stand even higher against these guys. Facts!
And not only that just imagine if he played in today's game and while he played players like LeBron Curry Durant Garnett Duncan Kobe Shaq none of them got rings because of him while played what would people say then
Nah, players today do NOT have MJ's skill. Players today generally have less skill with fundamentals in comparison to players of MJ's era. What players today do have, is a little more athleticism and a much greater desire to perform trick shots and fancy dunks...which I think is the main culprit to the lower fundamentals.
They are more top players on the 75 list during Jordan’s era than anyone else’s. The next-door one of the best defenses, the Celtics are like a top five best team ever.
Dar, I know you a young dude. MJ, was on GOD mode on that court. Hopefully you get it now. Dar, they were able to hand check back then a clothes line going to the rim. The defense was much tougher back in MJ days.
In the era that Jordan played it took more than just being the better athlete or the most skilled… You needed to have character and mental toughness and teamwork. I’ve watched a lot of these reaction videos and at 2:56 this brother here is only the second person to recognize how high and the hang time of that shot. KD is a first ballot and in my opinion will be great no matter what era he played… Scottie Pippen might’ve been the greatest all-around defensive player I’ve ever seen but KD would have gotten his on Pip. Respect and God bless
Imagine turning on your TV set in 1985 a seeing this. My dad and I would just shake our heads in disbelief. The only player remotely comparable was Dr. J. He would give you three highlights a month. MJ gave you three per game.
Almost got you to convert with this video lol... ok now try reacting to Jordan Voyager 1and2 and if you still not converted well I still respect you for making this video
Everyone knows the basics about MJ. After watching his entire career almost every night on WGN, playing some in college, coaching after college, I look back and see these highlights knowing what I saw. What I saw that separated him (other than the obvious things we all discuss regularly) were: Huge hands, largest for a guard maybe ever, Greatest clutch player ever. You could argue (1a. Bird, 1b. MJ) maybe?? Greatest leaper vert-wise at the time but, knew how to manipulate his body to "hang" and finish better than anyone ever, Greatest guard shot blocker, by far! Greatest wing defender, by far! Greatest agility ever, Greatest core and balance ever, Greatest footwork ever, Greatest post up guard ever, Had a 43% 3pt shooting season, no one talks about this, for some reason? Most fundamentally sound, "great athlete" ever! (due to great H.S. & college coaching. Dean Smith was about Defense and fundamentals or you didn't see minutes. He "needed" to be "cut" in H.S. because his older brother was really good and well-known. Thinking getting cut boosted his drive to win as much as he did and compete every night? Theory... Great freethrow shooter! ***As bad a beat down physically as he took, he would not have been as great without this 💯 He punished teams for "punishing him." Ice when it counted in the playoffs as well. Played hurt always, then hyperfocused. He would dominate while hurt? Not just the flu game either. This happened regularly. Played insane minutes and never used load mgmt. Ever!
No one ever did what he did and to this day Mike 48 in vertical was crazy he had quickness and could jump like a cat defense was number one to him and the right frame meaning 6 6 perfect.also big ass hands no ball player had such with also the fundamentals like Mike.. also this generation don't even have a Dominick Wilkins they are many .
Curry did the same some years ago man (12:06), is just that Jordan was very fast and tricky. Aaaa and by the way, check out the Jordan rule about the question that you did
He is the greatest basketball player to ever walk the earth. And I don't see anybody today doing what he was doing back then. He was the complete package.
Big facts!
players do it nowadays but like 4-5 times a year, Jordan literally did this every game
Jordan's weak spot was 3Pters......and he has as many as Bird. GOAT......no contest.
Kevin Durant is superior, fundamentally. The only thing Jordan has over him is athleticism
@@brandonlamb9067 mj had better handles, better defense, better mid range, better at finishing at the rim. Mj is just better then kd
100% facts and very well put (although maybe could have used some paragraph breaks haha) MJ = GOAT
Exactly. Every time he did anything it was like a work of art. And he was just smooth and effortlessly could change up in Mid air
Yes, everything you said!
👏👏👏 totally agree with you
MJ FOREVER AND EVER AMEN END OF STORY, NO DEBATE ✌
MJ also had one of the biggest hands in NBA history. Strength/athleticism giant hands Basketball IQ and his fire to win……Todays NBA wouldn’t stand a chance
Yeah. Big hands is a huge advantage for that amazing ball control in the air.
FACTS!
LeBron would probably get 8 points.
His hands are the most underrated part of his game. A lot of guys would love to be able to wave the ball around like that
not a chance!
As if these dudes in this era actually plays D. MJ wasn't ahead of his time. He's better than all the player who play today. Dudes wasn't just letting MJ score. They couldn't stop him. Luka is slow and unathletic. And none of the players can stop him. But they could stop MJ? No!
Yup i was hearing his dumb commentary
As if he would of stopped him
No one could stop this man then or today
This myth that the talent level is greater today is just that a myth created by these kids
Here are some trophies & awards just in the 1980s before his 90s outburst:
- 1984 NCAA Player of the Year
- 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles (Gold Medal)
- 1984 first game in the NBA
- 1984/85 NBA Rookie of the Year
- 1985/86 missed 64 games with a broken foot and went to the playoffs vs.
- 1987/88 Defensive Player of the Year and Regular Season MVP
- 1987 & 1988 Dunk Contest Champion back-2-back years
- 1989 hit "The Shot" that sunk the Cavs
And then the 6 NBA Championships in the 1990s
No one could stop him, and he attack and defend. Imagine if he play today's era without defense... all his power only in offensive stats... 50-60PPG. Don't forget he played every play... he didn't miss anyone like today
dar reacts is plain stupid man he thought that we can evolve that fast
@@joaquimromeu1829 50 average today NO PROBLEM!!! MJ is and always will be the GOAT
You cannot trap Michael Jordan because he does not allow himself to get chat trapped he's always moving he his fundamentals he's probably the most fundamentally sound basketball player that ever played the game he never allows himself to get trapped he always leaves himself and out
Not to mention he's probably got the quickest first step of anybody that ever lived that's why they also calling the black cat because he's so fast he's got that first step and that's all it takes that he's gone
He’s the only player in history that could leap off one or two coming out of full stride and reach max vertical
a pretty overlooked fact, this is simply amazing
Only person I've seen since MJ to have that ability is Vince Carter.... Not the killer Instinct that Mike had... Just the ability to jump
Vince can't match jordan Vince Carter only had a 43 in vertical while Jordan had a 48 inch vertical
Best part about Jordan was that in addition to all these dunks and crazy atheltic layups, he was probably the best mid range scorer ever.
Facts!!! 100%
And possibly one of the best on ball defenders and one of the best over all defensive players to ever play
The Bulls made the Bulls mustsee.
@@tempsitch5632 Stop it. No one outside of Chicago cared about them after Mike left. What have "The Bulls" done before MJ and after?
@@mpound97 You clicked teply on the wrong person.
You're right, you can't argue who the best is, it's too clear to argue.
The thing about MJ is that he didn't have flashes of greatness like some people. He was great every possession.
The combination of cat like quickness, jumping ability, and the mastery of basketball fundamentals is some of the reasons why Jordan is the G.O.A.T.
He'd have to adapt at how easy it is to score today 😁
I've watched basketball from the early 80's till now and I've never seen anyone like Jordan before or since. He's the greatest I've ever seen.
Michael Jordan is the best thing the NBA has ever seen Michael Jordan is the king of NBA basketball .
11:47 Steph Curry did a similar move last season to the Knicks. You mentioned Jamal Murray too later on with the mid air hand switch moment.. that's what makes Jordan so great, players today can do some of the things Jordan did, but Jordan is an all-in-one package.
You could take Michael Jordan from The '80s and put them in the NBA today and he would still be ahead of his time
I've been an NBA fan since the mid 1970's and coached youth basketball for years.
My top3 is also Mike, Bird and Magic. In that order
😉👌
NOBODY can finish like Jordan
Too many weapons. His hang time, first step, big hands etc GOAT
You have to remember today the defense is easier to break down. Multiple defenders in most of his highlights
thanks for reacting to this amazing video!
@@gregorycolvin9738 And this is 2nd 3peat Jordan at 33 to 35 years old so just imagine what young Mike was doing to these cats.
Michael is the epitome of excellence and will. Another words devotion equals love
Yup....Pistons fan...was glad we could beat them early but the pain was coming. GOAT uncontested.

you should watch his rare voyager footage. its even better
Part of what made him the greatest was that he could read the coming defence. He didn’t allow himself to get trapped like certain other stars do.

Greatest ever.
Yea my boy is a Monster my G….there’s no other like him

Great reaction! If you want to see why he was one of the best defenders as well check out his Predator video.

Lol..he'd be even way better than the league today. "Just way better."
He had huge hands. Seen him palm a pumpkin. They say one step, and he was past you.
While watching that, remember that Jordan did that back in the 80's and 90's when "Thug Ball" Defense was still encouraged! Not like today's soft league that BANNED Defense to make scoring easier! Jordan in today's no defense league with no players in the post would average 50ppg!
The Dream Team was the Best Team ever assembled AND Mike was the Best Player on that Team....
First reactor i've seen to react at what he does at 23:36. Its wild to me how so many miss that disgusting layup under the defender's arm.
All that in 13 seasons Goat
They realised there was no one on one with MJ 1st time he set foot in the NBA court. Even if you had 3 ppl on him he would find a way.
That look when everybody realise when MJ did things that nobody can do even today
Look at some of these highlights and the reactions by the opposing teams bench, especially the layup against NJ(the greatest layup ever)...
he was double/triple-teamed, he was just so quick! he was also great @ play-faking... those players he play-faked were funny. 🤣.. where did he go? where's the ball?🤣🤣🤣
Yeah this guy is not understanding how jaguar-like quick MJ was. #BlackCat
He said he was doing things guys are doing now but I seen a bunch of highlights ain’t nobody doing now MJ is the Goat he had freak athleticism, unbeatable work ethic the best set of awards and hardware and the best 2 way player ever 10 scoring tlitles and all defensive first team in all them years
Jordan was considered the best even before Bulls won a title. Larry Bird called him "God in shorts". The GOAT.
We were speechless at the time. Lololol 🎉
And REAL TALK HE WAS THE "ONLY ONE" DOING THAT AND I'M IN 6th GRADE AND BEING FROM THE CHICAGO AREA, YOU DID NOT WANT TO MISS A GAME
And that's no hyperbole. I'm from Cali and have bled purple & gold since Magic's rookie season but I made sure my cable company provided WGN just to watch Black Jesus take flight in his colorful Nikes.
My guy. MJ was also called the Black Cat. He was recorded running a 4.3 40.
Jordan brought the game to his opponents
93 Jordan was Jordan at his best
No one has Michael's skills today on defense and offense combined. You can't name one player that has his offensive arsenal and defensive tenacity. A true 2 way player
The 🐐
This Was Every Night
He’s just way better than anyone who has played or plays today. Who is doing anything to stop him today?
To this day I still can’t believe how great he was! I’ve played a lot of basketball but damn how can you be that good!!!
You can't trap the guy, one of the best defensive teams in history (bad boy pistons) sent 2-4 guys at him most of the games (Jordan rules) and he still averaged over 30 against them. That's when you could hand check, hold and be physical. With todays rules he could average whatever he wanted.
Michael was better than everyone then, and he's better than everyone now.
If people in the nba were doing this I would still be watching.
MJ would cook the current players now. The league still hasn’t caught up to him.
🐐
I told Jordan played in today's game he would easily average 50 points a game and he played in a time where when you went to the room you got clobbered you had to deal with hand checks they don't even have hand checks anymore i mean they couldn't stop them they asked him at the age of 59 how many points
love the videos bro we love larry bird too :) 🤗🤗I want u to react to some baseball highlights any ones you see and like also i can see this brings you back to your past time.
Mike is the goat
Not only was Mike doin this stuff first, he did when teams were fundamentally sound on defense and gave you no free baskets. These guys today have space and dont have to worry about being slammed to the ground like in Mikes day.
Mike would be an absolute GOD in todays NBA and would stand even higher against these guys. Facts!
And not only that just imagine if he played in today's game and while he played players like LeBron Curry Durant Garnett Duncan Kobe Shaq none of them got rings because of him while played what would people say then
Jordan GOAT......nobody today doin anything that Jordan hasnt already done.......just a rerun lol
Nah, players today do NOT have MJ's skill. Players today generally have less skill with fundamentals in comparison to players of MJ's era. What players today do have, is a little more athleticism and a much greater desire to perform trick shots and fancy dunks...which I think is the main culprit to the lower fundamentals.
i love when the young nba fans tap into MJ highlights and they realize how fly your "airness" is
Even Durant said that if MJ was playing in this era that MJ would be the best player in the league....TODAY!
Of course he would.
They are more top players on the 75 list during Jordan’s era than anyone else’s. The next-door one of the best defenses, the Celtics are like a top five best team ever.
5:56 You got it man! You got it right! People don't see this obvious fact for some reason... but you nailed it
Watching MJ today has the exact same effect on me as it did 35 years ago. Makes me wanna go out and hoop it up.
You are watching highlights remember.......they trapped and double teamed Jordan relentlessly.
The Man, the Legend, the GOAT! The only REAL 23 in history of the game! That's why KD says MJ is the best ever. =)
What I saw that separated him (other than the obvious things we all discuss regularly) were:
Huge hands, largest for a guard maybe ever,
Greatest clutch player ever. You could argue (1a. Bird, 1b. MJ) maybe??
Greatest leaper vert-wise at the time but, knew how to manipulate his body to "hang" and finish better than anyone ever,
Greatest guard shot blocker, by far!
Greatest wing defender, by far!
Greatest agility ever,
Greatest core and balance ever,
Greatest footwork ever,
Greatest post up guard ever,
Had a 43% 3pt shooting season, no one talks about this, for some reason?
Ever!
Well said Sir!
