- Disney's WISH Review 2023
Wish is a 2023 American animated musical fantasy film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. It was directed by Chris Buck and Fawn Veerasunthorn (in her feature directorial debut), from a screenplay by Jennifer Lee and Allison Moore, based on a story by Lee, Buck, Veerasunthorn, and Moore, and produced by Peter Del Vecho and Juan Pablo Reyes Lancaster-Jones. The art style combines computer animation with the look of Disney's historical watercolor animation. The film stars the voices of Ariana DeBose, Chris Pine, Alan Tudyk, Angelique Cabral, Victor Garber, Natasha Rothwell, Jennifer Kumiyama, Harvey Guillén, Evan Peters, Ramy Youssef, and Jon Rudnitsky. The story focuses on a 17-year-old girl named Asha (DeBose), who makes a passionate plea to the stars in a moment of need after sensing a darkness in the Kingdom of Rosas that no one else does.
Development of Wish began in 2018 but was not publicly disclosed until January 2022, when it was revealed that Lee was writing an original film at Disney Animation. In September 2022, the project was officially announced, with the title being revealed alongside the involvement of DeBose and Tudyk. Buck and Veerasunthorn, who had worked with Lee on Frozen (2013) as co-director and story artist, respectively, were confirmed as directors the same month, with Moore later hired to join Lee in writing the screenplay. The film is inspired by Disney's centennial, which ties together a major theme across most Disney films-of wishes coming true. Additionally, it has been described as the origin story for the wishing star.[3] Julia Michaels and Benjamin Rice wrote the songs, while frequent Disney orchestrator Dave Metzger composed the score.[4]
Wish premiered at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, on November 8, 2023, and was theatrically released in the United States on November 22, by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.[5]

It's really cool that you enjoyed it, I was very disappointed when I saw the bad reviews as I was thinking I might go watch this. I'll see how I feel when I get paid. I do like any excuse to go to the cinema.
I'd say see it on a cheap night or a matinee. Less money, and you won't feel TOO bad if you don't like it
@@BrandoCritic good idea! I'll keep that in mind, thanks :)
Great review! I love movies with messages that inspire you to achieve your goals! I will check this one out Brandon! Thanks for bringing it to my attention! 😊
You're welcome Jason!!!
Your review was honest, fair and balanced as always Brandon, but I have to say the last part of what you said separate to the movie was incredibly uplifting, encouraging and inspiring. You have a gift with the way you speak and express yourself. My WISH is you know how special that is!
Thank you very much Josh! That's what I hope to do with this channel! Showcase my voice!
You're certainly doing just that Brandon.@@BrandoCritic
Really appreciate all the support!
Great review man! Don’t listen to the people who hate on Wish, I’m glad they put on references from the older Disney movies. it’s a perfect movie for 100 years of Disney’ for me as guy who has a passion for Disney will always had a huge smile on my face:) I loved TLK, Cinderella, POTC: The Curse of the black pearl and Cars growing up as my childhood fav movies.
Love me some Pirates!
@@BrandoCritic me too
I haven't seen Wish yet but I love all the songs, especially "This is the Thanks I Get" So excited to see it and love the story. Thank you for your honest review ❤
Hope you enjoy it!
Glad you enjoyed it. I didn’t really have interest for this one but. It’s nice to hear a different opinion as to why it worked.
Haha seems like EVERYONE hates this movie...
@@BrandoCritic I’m a little more selective on kids movies and I think that’s because my son is grown now and doesn’t watch them as much. There is one animation movie migration I’m going to see next month.
That looks cute!
I enjoyed this movie as well best Disney movie in my opinion
That’s awesome Katie!!
I’m about to see it in 3 hours, can’t wait!
Hope you love it!
@@BrandoCritic I just saw the movie, I loved it, that movie inspired me Disney 100th anniversary and I started to feel nostalgia and I grew up with Disney movies and I love the song called this wish ⭐️
3 reasons why I disagree that "Thanks I get" is a bad villain song and it's too upbeat.
1. Don't you guys remember Gaston's song from beauty and the beast?
2. The main reason. His character in general, sees himself as a hero in his own ego world. He believes that what he does for the people is what's best, and when people question his methods, the only thing he sees, is people not appreciating "all he's done for them" not realizing the true damage he's doing. I think it makes sense for it to be upbeat because he's not trying to sound evil. Just an ego maniac believing that only his ways make his civilization thrive.
And 3. Chris Pine is a great singer anyway. XD
Now I'm not saying my opinion is suppior to others, I'm just saying why I disagree. If anyone thinks differently, that's fine, we're all different.
Very good points!!!
@@BrandoCritic Thanks. ^^
Awesome job on this review man and tbh I'm ready to see this movie after hearing your thoughts on it I'm completely sold :)
Hope you enjoy it!
@@BrandoCritic you know I will Brandon and when I post my review I'll share it with ya :)
While I respect your opinion, I’m still gonna wait till it releases on home media
Thanks for respecting my opinion haha. However, if you want to “support” the film industry and want to see this, I suggest at least going on a cheap Tuesday or Matinee price showing. Just a suggestion
I wanna see it this weekend
Hope you like it
Great review mate what are your thoughts on the Eli Roth film Thanksgiving I would love to hear your thoughts on this horror movie.
I haven’t seen that one yet!
@@BrandoCritic you should when you get the chance it's a good movie for the holiday around Thanksgiving.
Haha you know in Canada, we celebrate Thanksgiving in October?
I had to leave the theater early but I enjoyed it from what I saw
That's too bad. Sorry you missed it
Salam alaikum dear friend 🙏 MashAllah great and beautiful vedio 😍😍😍 wonderful work 👍 my dear friend 🙏❤️ from Pakistan 🇵🇰 I'm New friend 🙏
Welcome ❤️
I honestly thought the movie was just mediocre,do I really wanted this movie to be 2D? Yes,did I wanted disney to give us a movie that was like back in the day yes,do I think the star character should have been the love Interest, ehh could have live without but I would be nice to have a good disney couple again, while I don't think it's the worst disney movie ever (that goes to the wild) it's like the black cauldron where it's ok but there Was so much potential to make it better
Thanks for the insight!
Finally the second good review that I watched on UA-cam🥹 I also don’t know what is the problem of Wish 🥲. And haters keep saying it is gabbage😭 I love all the songs in Wish and I didn’t see anything wrong in the lyrics. I just saw that how Disney loves their movies, songs and audience❤️. Anyway, just let the haters keep hating it and lost their hope. They must regret ! 🥹
Also, Thank you your positive review ~>
You’re welcome! Don’t worry about what others think of movies. If YOU like it, that’s all that matters. It’s not like you’re watching the movie WITH them right?? Chin up 😁
@@BrandoCritic Thanksss~ Really want to watch it on Disney+ again🥲❤️ I believe that there will be people who appreciate it✨
Every movie ever has fans! Remember that! Quality over quantity!
