Jim, his missus and his brother being sublime. I loved The Dummies. The whole idea behind the band was that at the time the radio stations didn't want to know Slade except for that bloody Christmas song but Jim was sure they were still writing good songs so he formed his own band, recorded some less well known Slade songs as well as some new material and guess what? They were a hit! 👏👏👏
Great version! twice as fast as the original from Old New Borrowed And Blue which is my favourite song from that superb album, give it a listen, When The Lights Are Out is also on par with this great song.
Had a listen to the original Slade version on a vocal separator and after 'Cabaret' someone says something along the lines of 'they know us tu(rn?)Johhhnd'!!! which probably means it got on there by accident and in their rush to get the record out, nobody on 'quality control' noticed it!🙄
Here's the full lyric "Miles Out To Sea" From the corner of my eye, I was looking out and why To see all the things we did, to see hope in where we hid From the outside looking in, was a stranger with a grin Seeing Bombhead on a rope, he was swinging high and low, high and low We were miles out to sea - did we float, you and me? Maybe one day we'll go back for more We were miles from the bay - did we float, I should say Maybe next time we'll leave from the shore From the corner of my eye, I was looking out and why There were sounds you never heard and then dump was the new word Look at last nite was that nite, a sharp lady got it right We song songs from cabaret and we laughed the night away, right away We were miles out to sea - did we float, you and me? Maybe one day we'll go back for more We were miles from the bay - did we float, I should say Maybe next time we'll leave from the shore The mad monk was such a sight, red hair hanging in the light And a temple to call home, is he living there alone? From the outside looking in, was a stranger with a grin He saw all the things we did, we saw hope in where we hid, yes we did We were miles out to sea - did we float, you and me? Maybe one day we'll go back for more We were miles from the bay - did we float, I should say Maybe next time we'll leave from the shore "Miles Out To Sea"

Here's the full lyric
"Miles Out To Sea"
From the corner of my eye, I was looking out and why
To see all the things we did, to see hope in where we hid
From the outside looking in, was a stranger with a grin
Seeing Bombhead on a rope, he was swinging high and low,
high and low
We were miles out to sea - did we float, you and me?
Maybe one day we'll go back for more
We were miles from the bay - did we float, I should say
Maybe next time we'll leave from the shore
From the corner of my eye, I was looking out and why
There were sounds you never heard and then dump was the new word
Look at last nite was that nite, a sharp lady got it right
We song songs from cabaret and we laughed the night away,
right away
We were miles out to sea - did we float, you and me?
Maybe one day we'll go back for more
We were miles from the bay - did we float, I should say
Maybe next time we'll leave from the shore
The mad monk was such a sight, red hair hanging in the light
And a temple to call home, is he living there alone?
From the outside looking in, was a stranger with a grin
He saw all the things we did, we saw hope in where we hid, yes we did
We were miles out to sea - did we float, you and me?
Maybe one day we'll go back for more
We were miles from the bay - did we float, I should say
Maybe next time we'll leave from the shore

"And We Laughed The Night Away Right Away" Jim Sang The Lyrics On The Original From Old New Borrowed And Blue.
The next line would be: "...and we laughed the night away, right away" with someone saying "Allo, stranger!" over the top.
Yes That makes sense -40 years of wondering solved easily - Thanks
Just seen this, so it's solved a 46 year old mystery for me. Thanks 😊

Hello stranger
and who plays the bass guitar and the rhythm?
Jim
@@noizemanjj this is not visible on the video
It's a mimed TV performance. Jim played many instruments. If truth be know he was the best guitarist in Slade too.
Jim on guitar...curious...Cult........
do someone have the guitar chords please?
