I’m not as educated as I would like to be on black American history, you’ll be really surprised by that, as a white Englishman. But the obvious things are the things that I’m talking about in this song, the obvious things about reality, the obvious paradoxes and conflicts in logic and stuff like that. It’s made quite apparent that black people in America are one of the only things that I noticed that are fetishized, that people have a fetish for and a phobia of at exactly the same time. lack culture, it’s what is celebrated culturally most in its superficial form, but then you move onto the next line where you have a prison system that preys on young black people in order to keep itself in business and turning over. This weird paradox. It’s just strange, isn’t it? Like I said, I don’t have any solutions, but I’m an artist, it’s not my job. - Matty Healy, Love It If We Made It (Genius Lyrics) genius.com/14958976
Thank you Matt; for being honest; as a Black American, I appreciate what you're saying; you don't have to explain yourself; history will judge you proudly!! sincerely, Kurtis Gardner
maybe this is just me but the way he sings this song is amazing. its so raw and he isn’t worried about hitting the best notes or sounding the best. He’s singing the song with a passion and anger, rather than worrying about sounding his best. This is powerful
While as a white person I don’t have the right to defend what matty did or didn’t do (depending on how you interpreted it) but it really bothers me how he is such a good person with a heart of gold but because he can’t reduce his thoughts into tweet sized sentences, sO many people read it wrong and ‘cancel’ him. This edit was amazing and anyone with a brain can see how much this song and the words he sings effects him.

Seeing this song live was one of the most profound and soul-touching experiences of my life. I love so many of their songs but I really do feel like this song does a pretty good job at defining the times we're living in. It's a song about hope, saying that while, yes, we are really going through it, it's still important to want to make it to the other side. It's important to want to make it through, and to try. All we see anymore is sadness, destruction, and the decay of the natural world, along with the lack of action and denial of these hugely terrible events by some of the world's most important and powerful figures. But the power and the hope has always and will always belong with the people, and those who wish to invoke hope for the future in their lives and effectively change the world around them. We see black people being murdered in the streets with absolutely unnecessary amounts of force, and the lives of young children being taken as a terrible collateral of war. But it's so important to want to persevere, enact change, and keep hope alive. Briefly expressed as: I'd Love if We Made It. Of course, this is just my interpretation and how the song makes me feel on a personal level. It makes me feel like there is work to be done and that I have the potential to play a part in it and I think that seed of change being planted in anyone's mind is not something to underestimate.
Goosebumps. The energy during this song live is amazing, this video got me a bit emotional looking back at all the great live moments last year screaming the lyrics ngl! Thank you for this 🖤
Thank you its just what we need right now and indeed it added more strength to the message Matty tried to convey in this song. He is not promoting he doesnt need that just look at the stream of people in his concerts. He is raising awareness. Please listen to the song!😭 And my heart is breaking as of this moment for wondering what could be happening to Matty's mental health right now. I feel so sad.😞
In 2013 and up until 2015 Ioved this band. Then forgot about them apart from the odd tune like Girls. I heard this om UA-cam by chance, and I am fucking amazed. It is pure genius. Bravo Matt.
This is a sick mix. Where did you get clean footage of him in the red pants? He said that was the best concert they ever did, then some asshole removed it from UA-cam like a week later
Its from Szidget Festival i recorded it during the livestream last yeat anyway i’ll try to share a link for that as UA-cam tends to take down that show
@@contentbox26 that'd be so sick if you put up a link somewhere. Maybe upload one song and note that the link is in the description? Just a thought, if you ever get the time. Also, with this video, obviously 4 or 5 performances..did you just pick one of those as the audio source? Sounded too clean to be cutting back and forth
Watching this when we really have made it (getting that fucking orange man outta office/electing our Joe Biden) hits so different. I realize that our work isn't over yet, but this is the first step, a really amazing first step. This mix almost brought me to tears the first time, and it's bringing me to tears now.

@Mike Bailey harry sings very well. He's also creative. As for being the best band, clearly subjective. Try nothing but thieves.
Robbie wait i don’t get it he just posted a video tho
It was a bit distasteful but nothing that he should've been cancelled over :( ( I say this as a black person)M

When the world goes back to normal, I really, really hope that this is the first song I get to hear live.
Crazy how relatable this song is today because of the climate we are experiencing in the US.
