When I was about 5 years old from my home in Govan, I could hear the tannoy from Ibrox Park announce the Players, the cheers from the crowd that followed every Rangers player name & the volcanic sound when we scored a goal as my pals & i jumped about celebrating.
About 1972/‘73 my pal & i went to our first of so many matches being lifted over the turnstile by my pal’s Uncle, we then walked up & up & up till we reached the top of the west terracing then Wow!
I had watched football from my black & white telly but now it was in colour … green grass & light blue Jerseys, white shorts & red socks with white tops …
Since then supporting Rangers has given me some of the happiest (& every other emotion) times of my life

Merry Xmas Sir! Well done for making the best out of those sad paltry Xmas leftovers! Another great effort at warding off the obsessed puddle drinkers though! 👍😂 Yet another Xmas ruined again by such an abject pitiful performance by so many players all over the pitch! Although the manager hasn’t escaped being on the naughty list either! Quite depressing to realise that even if we win all our remaining games we still lose the league! 🤬🤬🤬 🤣 The team could do with some much needed support from the workshy Cortes, Matondo and Lawrence! 👀👀It’s always the hope that kills you! 🤣🤬 Should be an easy 3 points on Sunday though as Motherwell had no shots on target against that lot yesterday! 😱😱🤣🤣🤣 Keep up the fantastic effort! 🎅🏼🎅🏼🌲🌲👍👍

I could tell by your response it was merely an amusing distraction for you but, much as I might enjoy having a bit of back and forth with these occasional visitors I won't have them being cheeky to the best friends of this wee pod.
Aye, pyoor honking in Paisley and all the hope I'd built up over the last month is leaking a bit with these last two performances. I wasn't expecting to win the league this season and I can see why he rested the players he did but I continue to worry about our inability away from home domestically. So, like your guid self, I'm pyoor psyched for Sunday.

You can't be pedestrian for 45 minutes, then turn up......we have seen the same pattern in 90% of our games. If only Rangers could get to a level of entertainment consistent with your podcast 😊. I wish you all the best for 2025. I am in London over the new year and got a ticket for West Ham vs. Liverpool, but I will make time to tune into your pods on the 29th and 2nd as always.

Thanks, Albert - very kind, my friend. We had a great Christmas, sir and I hope you and yours did likewise and, of course, you and I are both chucking in the caveat "until 5:45 pm, Boxing Day".
Yup. Spot-on. Can't completely check out of the first half and hope to take anything from most games, far less one of these where, as the manager himself continually acknowledged pre-match, it's "all about winning the duels first."
Hope you enjoyed the bourbon. I ended up missing out on the booze - on Boxing Day of all days - so will be making up for it tonight; a few wheat beers from a Franciscan monastery in Bavaria then off to a wee place across the water called Bushmills....
Jealous you're getting to the London Stadium. Seen the Irons at the Boleyn Ground shortly before it closed. Fantastic club. Have a great time.

It seemed rational to me and he was clear in his intent in the pre match bbc Scotland interview. What you thinking? Stick or twist managerially? Aye, I had a wee ten minutes rest to take in the game but no beer, biscuit nor bit of turkey's been safe for the best part of a week round here. Back on the Franziskaner and Bushmills tonight, all washed down with a selection of McCoy's flame-grilled steak and some Golden Wonder Ready Salted.
Amazingly, I don't think I've seen the Battle of Britain movie - although I thought that about North by Northwest when I watched it on Christmas Day and, by the end, I realised I'd seen every bit of it before 😆But, like ye say, who cares when ye have a bere and biccie in hand! Half way through a Terry's chocolate orange and there's still a full box of After Eights to be tackled.
Also amazingly, I still haven't seen a WWII movie during this festive period. Need to get my priorities sorted. Might get onto The Battle of Britain. Don't tell me how it ended😆

Could it be, our players have realised, the powers that be, won't allow our club to win the SPL, therefore it's all about 2nd place, with the sheep being gubbed 4 nil down at El Plastico, Rugby Park, (so named as a tribute to, the surface and the home team's tackles), our players thought, we don't need to win to stay 2nd. Big Jack gets erratic when he doesn't get his 8 hours a night sleep.

It seems as if we are in this maze where we take a few turns and it looks like we are getting out of the revolving nightmare then just as we are getting used to optimism and looking forward to better days , we realize that we've only been kidding ourselves and we are in fact back in the quicksand .
Today we were back to the same old crap, cant defend , cant attack ,devoid of any creativity ...The first half killed us say Stewart and Clement ? This whole season has seen one calamity after the other , peppered in between by some acceptable shows where we look like a proper football team .
Unfortunately this isnt going to change any time soon .

Many thanks for giving the pod your time again, George - especially when it's such a particularly miserable edition. Think the final insult yesterday was Ross bloody County even won away from home, for the first time in this calendar year. Can't disagree with anything you're saying and I'm at the point where I see the acceptable performances as pleasant intermissions in a write-off season. The worry is to what extent exactly we're writing it off - a "rebuild" second place or a "going long-term backwards" third place?

Notwithstanding the question of the union flag only properly being referred to as a union jack when flown from the jackstaff of a ship, and at a stretch at home the blue sea of ibrox making the question academic, union jack butland is still appropriate as a name even away from home, for butland is constantly all at sea.
Butland's angles and positioning is always all wrong, and both goals at Paisley showed this.
"Goalkeeping is 99% positioning." ~peter shilton.
The last three goals kyogo, the classic penalty box striker, has scored against him have all been from outside the box-a first time volley, a left foot high placement and a pass into the net from 25 yards. Kyogo has grasped butland is always too far back on his line, his positioning terrible as he does not narrow the angle. The second goal at paisley and the goal in the scottish cup final also showed this clearly. Butland is poor at the most basic tenet of goalkeeping.
Clement, regarding Butland, needs to balance all, bring all to mind, the goals he lost seem waste of breath, a waste of breath the games behind.

    • @stewartbalmer1515
      @stewartbalmer1515 18 днів тому

Too far back in his line. Think it s you sir that Do t know your positioning. He is too far of his line if he was closer to his line he would be saving kyogo s shots no watching them go in the net but you know that much about positioning you will know every keeper in modern football gets beat too easy because they are always too far of there line

    • @pato2200

Being on your line allows the gaps to the cirners.
Being further out narrows the angle and prevents this. That is a basic of goalkeeping.

Another away disappointment. Raskin was badly missed but at 1-1 we looked like winning until we seemed to lose momentum. 2 errors and we are punished. Igamane had that good chance but too high. Seems like Clement is back to being on dodgy ground. Enjoyed your show, better than the match. We can still dream of Europa glory and the Scottish cup. I watched Wallace and Gromit last night to cheer me up.😄

Cheers, Big Phil. Thanks for watching the pod again, sir but thanks especially for the Wallace and Gromit recommendation; that could come in very handy to get me through tonight. I'll have the battle fever back on tomorrow, no doubt, but right now the battle is, as you say, again all about fellow Teds wanting us to punt the manager. His gamble with Raskin was totally understandable but, yeah, the fact we need Nico's superhuman current form to play in any way effectively is raising legitimate concerns about Clement's tactics.
I'm going to opt for this return to dross being more about the paucity of our squad but we'll need to at least see PC's first OF victory next Thursday to convince others of same. Though I'll also take that special Cup double you mentioned.
