I've been to two of their concerts and it's very clear that all they want is to perform for people. I think for them that connection to people, creating "The Few, The Proud, The Emotional" community, for all of us that felt misunderstood and alone in life, this is the moment when we're not alone. And they are not alone too. On the shows, when they perform "Car radio", Tyler usually climbs up a pole in the middle of the crowd, couple of meters above our heads, and he stands at tiny platform with no security, and he screams to us. On "Holding onto you", Josh plays his drums on a platform that is held by people in the crowd, literally holding onto them. And their fans stay still, knowing that Josh's safety depends on them. On the first concert I saw, Tyler was running on the crowd in a giant hamster ball, and peoples hands made a surface for him to run on. I am 37, and Twenty One Pilots dragged me through the darkest times in my life, I basically owe my life to them. "Car radio" was the first one I heard, and I was listening to it non stop for weeks, while starting my first therapy, dealing with alcoholism, seeing psychiatrists. I was alone, but thanks to them, I wasn't. Now I am a mom, a wife, I have a career and I am the happiest I have ever been. And I believe I owe it to them.
The way they both consistently look out to the crowd in AWE and appreciation. It’s in the lyrics too how much they care about us “And I will try with every rhyme, To come across like I am dying, To let you know you need to try to think“ Like UGHHHH. And now with Clancy!?!? ATROFD has me SOBBING. When I went, Josh did a backflip off of Tyler’s piano during Holding On To You instead but it’s probably just a difference in venue. |-/
Something you might find interesting, the band name comes from the play All My Sons, where a man ends his life after a decision he makes causes the deaths of twenty-one pilots in war, including his own son.
At the end his hair does come back - I think that's just a reminder to everyone that even though he puts his mask on to hide what's really going on - when it comes back off he's still the same nervous person from the beginning - I think it also shows the cycles people can go through They are a great duo - they actually do a lot of songs about mental health Migraine is another good one
Yes I think you are right. I obviously noticed it had grown back but in the moment didnt think about the cyclic nature of whats going on. Thanks for sharing.
@@joeyschmenk9528I've always felt it was a continuity error and actually cringe every time I watch someone do a new reaction video hoping they don't notice. 🤣
I've always seen it as the beginning where he shaved his head and then went out on stage was all in his head, and at the end, there was no crowd, he was stuck with his thoughts and his hair was still there because he only shaved it in his head. The idea that the beginning is in his thoughts is that there are sections that are all blurry and distorted, which would be similar to the way humans think.
@@TherapistReactsOfficial I know this video is old and you probably won't read this but I really hope that you do. I would love to hear your response to this analysis. I've always related to it as though, and perhaps this is the dark place I'm in emotionally speaking, but to me it's saying at the beginning he did, in fact pull the steering wheel, as the tempo of the song picks up and becomes more chaotic, it's symbolizing his car tumbling, also his realization that he's made a terrible, irrevocable mistake. As he is in the crowd, I see that as either he is unconscious, perhaps even dead, conversing with the spirits of those he loves and has lost, or perhaps his life flashing before his eyes, and could Even symbolize the trauma team working on him, trying to bring him back. Then, at the end, when he pulls his mask off and his hair has regrown, symbolizes that he was, in fact, actually only dreaming or was given a redo on that decision, now that he's gone through the experience and realized that the shit he was going through, that he thought was so heavy and unbearable and permanent, in fact, was miniscule in relation to the finality of making the choice to pull the steering wheel. Again, this could be me projecting my own issues on today's situation that's not there lol. I love this video. You did a good job.
in an interview the singer Tyler once said that his hair represents his vanities so when he realises he has been caught up in his vanities he will shave off his hair to get a reset and concentrate on the important things again.
Thats really interesting. I can relate to that a bit, sometimes when I feel things are getting on top of me I like to get a really short hair cut as it feels it sort of resets me a bit!
Depression is big part of TOP. That feeling is so close to what most people feel sometimes! I always have music, or audbook on...that way not always thinking about...MORE TOP REACTIONS!!!
I'm right there w/you: if I'm not listening to a podcast, music, a lecture/speech, or an audio book, I'm likely watching some movie or an interesting series, but I'm almost NEVER in complete silence, I even have ear buds in when I'm out in public. If I don't have some sort of audible distraction, my thoughts tend to veer towards feeling depressed, anxious, worried about the future, regretting the past, or replaying any # of various thoughts that prevent me from being clear-headed & stress-free. And, sadly, I can't afford the disruption, as I have rare health disorders wherein the symptoms tend to worsen when I'm in a state of heightened stress.
He actually got his car radio stolen. The car radio itself is not metaphorically used in this song but the whole use and idea of the car radio for him is the metaphor
For me, his hair growing back and him alone, kind of illustrates how we sometimes come full circle, back to where we started as with him going back to the very beginning of the song. Sometimes the struggle with mental health feels like that.
I’ve loved your Ren reactions and I’m so glad you are checking out TØP! They both tackle deep topics but offer hope and use music to channel their experiences in a very positive way. Someone actually did steal Tyler’s car radio when he was in college and he couldn’t afford to replace it. So he was trapped in silence alone with his thoughts, which was a dangerous place for him to be. And yes, the line “I could pull the steering wheel” is a reference to suicidal thoughts. Tyler struggled with severe mental health issues and has used music to battle against the dark thoughts. They have continued to use the car as a metaphor. And this song is a central part of their live shows. Their concerts are incredible! One of the themes that comes up a lot are cycles, so I think when he takes off the mask he is back to where he was at the beginning, alone with his thoughts and his insecurities. When battling mental health struggles, it can feel like a non-stop loop that is hard to break. So I’ve interpreted it almost like a Groundhog Day phenomenon. But there are a lot of ways to interpret their music and videos. Next I would check out Migraine.
@@GarnetJ It is a great track. But because of Ren I've got back into music which has included T0P. So now my T0P song favourites are increasing. 😆 I don't think I explained that very well but it is early in the morning here. 😁
I totally agree @GarnetJ. I'm glad you brought up that someone actually did steal Tyler's car radio while he was at Ohio State cause it's always a good story. I laugh every time I hear someone explain this because I got my car radio stolen on OSU campus around the same time. Small world. I also agree. Migraine is my next recommendation.
This sits with me because a couple times I’ve had my car stereo ripped. It’s not just the fact that someone has entered your personal space, (car) but has pulled the stereo in a total disreguard for decency. Meaning they grab wires and pull them hard so they’re ripped and yanked out, the bolts are not unthreaded but cut or bent back and forth until they break. Windows are broken and they leave DAMAGE. I usually had custom exhaust pipes on my vehicles and they rumbled along, a stereo was always part of this American car culture years ago.
That second verse. I have to sing with it but I always end up crying a little. It's such a powerful verse for me anyways. Did you catch it all? I ponder of something terrifying cuz this time there's no sound to hide behind. I find over the course of our human existence one thing consists of consistence and it's that we're all battling fear, oh dear, I don't know if we know why we're here. Oh my, too deep, please stop thinking, I liked it better when my car had sound. There are things we can do but from the things that work there are only 2 and from the 2 that we choose to do, peace will win and fear will lose. There's faith and there's sleep, we need to pick one please because faith is to be awake and to be awake is for us to think and for us to think is to be alive and I will try with every rhyme to come across like I am dying to let you know you need to try to think. I found this song around 2015 or so which I see as a pivotal point in US history so that got tied into this song for me as well as previous mental health struggles. I've had the car with no radio when all I've needed was a distraction. Well, all I could find or reach for at the time was distraction. Still is I suppose. Maybe that's why it still hits so hard for me. Thanks again, for giving your perspective ✌️
To me, Tyler's hair back at the end is showing that what we watched is Tyler showing us what is going on in his mind. The scream gets me every time, because you can feel his pain. I also love the crowd moving Tyler and putting him bak on stage. It's as if they are putting their car radio back where it belongs! I love this band!
mental health is a huge theme in their music. ps. it is real footage from a show. my sister was at it and she's also in the line during the can't help falling in love cover video.
One thing I love about Twenty-One Pilots is the way that the depth of some of the songs sneaks up on you; it's easy to get lost in the beats then realize how much the lyrics are impacting you. A few songs I think you would appreciate: Migraine My Blood (Has a great music video) Neon Gravestones An older one but one of my all-time favorites is Trapdoor.
I recommend 100% to listening to more of their music. The lyrics he/they write are so deep, clever, eerie, beautiful, and so relatable. I too complete felt connected with them. For me, it happened 8 years ago when I first heard “Stressed Out” from the album “Blurryface.” It also helps that Tyler and Josh both seem like great people! 🤟😎❤️☮️
Tyler is the singer of 21 pilots. This song relates to me very much because it shows the "loudness" of anxiety, panic attacks and PTSD all of which I have. The distraction of sound is a life numb er. Just keeping out the past, the current and creating a safe zone. If that is removed the depression gets louder and louder. I love 21 pilots because they have had many songs dealing with mental health awareness and illness which is at a record post covid as the world had to stay home and deal more with out the social integration that help so many as we are a social being and that being cut off for many in many ways was a shock even harder than during "normal" times like post covid.
21 Pilots hair growing back is showing us that even after enough time has passed for his hair to grow, and even after experiencing the euphoria of a crowd with music replacing the sounds he lost when his radio was nicked, which is louder than the silence in his head; he’s still thinking about ‘falling’ and he’s still alone. We have to ask why! Is it because no one in his circle has noticed or tried to help? The fact that he’s circling around his problem as the video circles almost back to the beginning, suggests he’s not really made much progress in finding possible solutions to the problem, which obviously is not the fact he has no radio. In order to break the cycle, we have to let our close circle (or someone else) in. As they cross the threshold and we begin to discuss or confide, that circle of entrapment either releases altogether or widens to give us more manoeuvrability. It is not just his car steering wheel that turns round, his thoughts spin like the wheels of his car and like the cogs of his mind. His thoughts regenerate in the same style and fashion, just like his hair.
Definitely do more TØP! Suggestions: Migraine, Holding Onto You, Taxi Cab, Isle of Flightless Birds, dozens more. Great band with amazing writing and fluid genre.
Their concerts are INSANITY! I’ve seen them 6 times now, all before they blew up big with Stressed Out, and they were religious experiences. The vibes in the crowd were immaculate. The show they put on is almost more theatre than concert. Tyler is a top tier showman. I’m getting the chills just thinking about it. You should definitely try to make it out to a show if you can!
Also I recommend Trees Live at the fox theatre, it's pretty amazing, the energy is palpable. Ode to sleep, is a cool video because it showcases their growth. There really isn't a bad song imo, but these two are the ones stick out in my mind.
Hello Stuart I really love that you have joined the band that saved my life on several occasions and that I love You can be sure that you have a new subscriber for the channel if there are more than twenty around here Tell you that the singer is called Tyler and the drummer is called Josh Tyler created a world and characters that through that represent mental states and their insecurities such as Blurryfaces physically represented with Tyler's hands and neck black and red eyes and the color that Blurryface is also reprimanded is red blurryface is a set of insecurities and fears of tyler made up of 9 bishops called nico and the niners where they live in a city where "Vialismo" (suicide) is practiced called the municipality of Dema At the same time, there is the counterpart of Blurryface, what are the bandits, they are the representation of the positive and what is friendship and love of family and friends and the color that represents them is yellow, they have their own city or camp called "Trench" located very outside of Dema I hope you delve further into this world, since their albums are like chapters of this story and it all starts with Car Radio, the incredible songs of this beautiful Band I know you are going to love If more to say, much love and support for your channel from my dear Argentina!! And welcome to the Twenty fan club The Cliques Stay Alive! 🌻💛
I love your reactions, 21 pilots was the first band that I found really addressing mental health problems in a completely unique and eloquent way. The subtle beginning of this track with the juxtaposition of bouncing energy at the end I think resonates so we'll with the roller coaster of emotions that anyone with mental health goes through. Your reactions are really genuine and thoughtful ❤
Hi Fren! I'm a huge fan of this band. They are super talented and inspirational. They throw an awesome show too, I highly recommend checking them out when they come around. Thanks for the reaction!
I went to a Fall Out Boy concert and 21 Pilots opened. They stole the show, I’ve been a huge fan since. They are unbelievably deep and have not yet revealed alot of the ‘lore’. Incredibly talented duo. Ode to Sleep gives a bit of incite into their growth. Great tunes..
I am so very thankful for you Stuart J Randall! Your expertise and experience and the way you communicate is so easy to understand. I really, really needed to hear this truth today. Thank you so much for reminding me of these things. ❤
Thanks for the feedback - I try and just talk 'normally' without any stupidly long clinical words etc that I am sure people use just to try and sound clever sometimes!
Easiest way to say what they do, what their genre is and Tyler’s and Josh’s goal: saving lives. For those of us struggling and for themselves. Thanks for reacting!
Thanks for listening to TØP! They touch on some really deep topics, and in 2015 their album Blurryface got me through a really dark time. Tyler is very honest about his emotions and his experience with mental health, and that hopeful honesty helped keep me afloat when I started having mental illness symptoms. Their song The Judge was very impactful for me, and later the song Neon Gravestones helped me to remember what I was fighting for. I hope you react to more of their songs!!
Heard this live a few days ago and sobbed the whole time. I and COUNTLESS others have such a deep connection to this band and their music. This community is amazing |-/
This song, along with a lot of other twenty one pilot songs has helped me through a lot of though times. I believe I owe them my life. "Migrane", "Holding on to you", "guns for hands", "friend please" and "trapdoor" are some of their songs that speak the truth about mental health and how it can feel, or how it can be seen and misunderstood from the outside. It is funny you mentioned NF, as Twenty one pilots is one of few that inspired NF and his music. Or so I've heard. =) Good to get a professional point of view (that meaning you are a theriapist who knows a lot about anxiety and depresion) on their songs. =) Thank you for your reaction
Loved the opening part to this reaction. Think you’ll continue to bounce reacting to TOP. Love that you’re continuing your reaction path on here and sharing your thoughts and insights.💜
Have subscribed to watch you react to more twenty one pilots. They have the best concerts and fans, such a positive experience. Their lyrics, musicality and engagement with their fans is second to none. They even run a whole lore through their later albums that is so in depth we are still figuring things out years later. I think you would really appreciate their song Migraine, either the UK video version or the live room version.
@@TherapistReactsOfficial the song itself in the UK MV is the original from the album. From memory the music video was done as some sort of promo in the UK.
You're the first reaction creator that i believe will properly get imagine dragons music. Not the hits on the radio but that deep deep shit that just lets you see inside Dan Reynolds the lead singers soul. Mainly any from their latest album, like giants or dull knives or my life and much more. Its crazy but every album they have released has related to that part of my life. If you have time should definitely check them out!
Amazing reaction. Found you through Ren, but I’m here for this journey. I’m struggling profoundly with things very much right now, and NF has always been someone I resonated with in terms of feeling hopelessness and trying his best to work through that through his music. I’m a musician also, so there’s that.. I feel immense guilt and shame over even TRYING to justify my shame and weakness with labeling it ptsd or cptsd. My ex tells me almost daily that I’m crazy to think that emotional abuse can become trauma over time. We dated for 2.5 years and she truly appears to not remember the past accurately. I was not a perfect person or a perfect partner, but I was sincere in my effort and I was communicative about the ways I felt my boundaries were being completely dismissed or disregarded. Somehow, by the end, I no longer recognize mysekf. I feel like my brain has melted and every major social pillar I was supported by prior to dating this woman has crumbled and blown away, dust in the wind. I don’t know how to expedite moving through this healing. I’m aware it’s going to be a long road , based on the research I’ve been doing on ptsd. Anyway I’m rambling now venting my pain. I apologize if this is technically trauma dumping. I’m just suffering and feel hopeless. No risk for unaliving as my father wasn’t active in my life and I have a 2 year old son myself who I can never allow myself to hurt like my father did to me. But I’m in Hell. Tortured truly. Jesus, it feels both cathartic to spew this shit onto a relevant video’s comment section while simultaneously feels sincerely “wrong”. I can’t escape this shame.
Tyler Joseph is the most talented entertainer I've ever known in my 60 years of living. Clearly he has or does fight demons of sorts....but seems to have made the best of it. He has helped many with his music and lyrics.
If you're a trauma therapist, I would recommend Daddy by Korn. The song is about some of the worst trauma someone can experience. The lead singer literally breaks down crying in the song. It's hard to listen to. I would also recommend looking up the backstory of the song for context.
Thanks for posting this. The song Holding onto You saved my life some years ago and I will always credit TOP with having saved my life. There have been several times when ive been on the edge and Tyler's words have brought me back. For me the songs i keep returning to are Taxi Cab and Forest. This band is truly special.
I loved how you picked up on the pulling of the steering wheel metaphor. It’s often overlooked yet it is a key line for the overall meaning of my most favorite song in the world 😊
I am a recovering ruminater.. if I had any quiet time my mind would constantly ruminate every little thing over and over and over and it would eat me alive.. anger, anxiety, depression.. suicidal ideation, Therapy along with ketamine infusion therapy has literally saved my life.
Your comments make so much sense. My daughter introduced me to them. Have seen them 3 times live. Going to a concert is like a family reunion. When I first heard them, I loved the beat. Once I started listening to the words I was floored. Someone FINALLY put into words what I have been experiencing for the last 40 years. ❤ Your perspective. I have tons of suggestions!
It's been a decade since I first discovered this song and it still hits me in the guts every time and it's still a favorite. Loved your reaction/interpretation! I recommend "Goner", it's another favorite for sure.
IMO his hair growing back = he's right back to where he was after his temporary catharsis, only to find nothing has really changed; hence the dystopian conclusion.
So happy i stumbled upon this channel, im in the later stages of the healing process and alot of the music youve been reacting to i used to and still listen to on my bad days
Your analysis, thoughts, and insights on this video are absolutely lovely. You seem to really see what they’re trying to do. Thank you. Really, thank you. About the hair at the end…watch what he does as the camera drops. He simulates unaliving himself.
Ya know, I've listened to this song a million times, and yet this is honestly the first time I've sat down and really listened to the lyrics and tried to understand what the singer is trying to say.
That one part of the song where he sings that, theres faith and theres sleep we need to pick one please because faith is to be awake and to be awake is for us to think and to think is for us to be alive and i will try with every rhyme to come across like i am dying to let you know you need to try too think, that is one of the best lyrics from a song ive ever heard, its so emotional and hopeful asking us to live.
I think the end shows that we can overcome fear and be a part of something uniting and greater than ourselves (the crowd) even if we’re afraid and nervous to show our true selves (the mask), but that moment of unity and understanding can be fleeting, and we still just go back to our regular fearful selves. Tyler’s visual is how I feel with my depression and anxiety sometimes. I’m glad you’re still doing music reactions. You’re perspective is always great.
When I was a teenager I grew my hair out because it was the grunge thing to do and a sign of rebellion. This is the mid 90s so times were a bit different back then. I went through some breakups, trouble at school, "friends" abandoning you, depression, anxiety, trouble at home, etc. Me and my mom weren't getting along. I was a blooming teenager and my mom was going through menapause. Bad combo. After months of bickering over little things, I asked her one day to cut my hair. I didn't go full bald but it was much much shorter than it was. We talked for about an hour while she was cutting my hair. I cried. She cried. We kinda forgave each other for bickering and things were good after that. It's surprising what a haircut can achieve if you hadn't had one for about two years. It feels like the weight of the world was lifted. I felt happier, more outgoing and did better in school and my friends. CUtting your hair or shaving your beard can give yo a different perspective on life because the face you see in the mirror is different and you feel different. It's like a reset button.
Song gave me a mental breakdown of the good kind, I was crying a whole weekend Ripped me out of a very dark place after my hubby died. Tyler is a genius with the voice of an angel. Please more TØP ❤
One of my favorite bands for over the last decade. Each album is a different journey. I'd recommend Holding Onto You or Migrane (captured in the live room) next. Thought provoking and epic. 👏🏼
I found your channel through your Ren videos and loved your opinion and analysis. I'm really delighted to see you react to twenty one pilots too. Their music and lyrics are so intricate and hit on a lot of mental health stuff. If you want to listen to more of them I would recommend "Migraine", "Neon Gravestones" or "Guns for Hands". They really don't have a single bad song, it's crazy! Stay safe
Damn. I heard this song back when it first came around. I’m 26 now, revisiting it with you, and crying over that last bit of him screaming “and now I just sit in silence.” You think you really understand the reasoning behind a song but hearing other thoughts on the song just brings out even deeper meaning. Geeez, thanks you lol
Really enjoyed your breakdown of Car Radio. I always thought his hair not actually being shaved off at the end was illustrating how sometimes we can allow our thoughts to take us down paths we might not follow through on - such as shaving our head and performing in front of a massive crowd. Anyway, since you're enjoying TØP, I'd recommend 'Guns for Hands', especially given your profession. Regardless, looking forward to the next one.
This is my first exposure to your content and honestly I have so much to say that it could be a whole video on its own. I believe that there's a symbolism of him being on the brink, shaving his head, then he puts on the mask, performs for people who are just like him, then he feels alright knowing that he's not alone. I think it would be fascinating for you to listen to their discography. You can definitely see the points where Tyler actually got help because there is a dramatic shift in the music. Their most recent album is much lighter and more poppy. Where a lot of the first two major label releases were much darker. The song Migraine from the same album has a line that says, "It's all about my forehead and how it is a door that holds back contents that make Pandora's box contents look nonviolent." So throughout their discography you can really track Tyler Joseph's growth and coping mechanisms as he ages and navigates his musical career.
That you knew nothing about the band and picked up on that part of what Tyler struggles with is self-criticism and insecurity (it becomes a whole Thing, he even personifies it as a character in later albums) is impressive! As far as the thinking equals being alive and the lyric "I will try with every rhyme to come across that I am dying to let you know you need to try to think" - the band covers a lot of deep feelings and darkness, but their kinda tagline or sign off was/is "stay alive". A few of their other songs talk about turning your focus from these extensional questions to music and to find purpose and meaning there. And the hair: cycles are a big theme for them, that everything happens repeatedly with no real defined start or end. I'm so glad this popped up in my suggested videos, you've got a new subscriber and welcome to the twenty one pilots fandom! You'll never run out of content from them, the lore goes deeper than we know and once you've gone down the rabbit hole you'll be down there for awhile!
I remember listening to this song when i was 8/9 having no idea what it meant. Now a few years later, i know exactly how "sitting in silence" feels, and having this band that says thise things outright is one of the most incredible things. Id love to see more of your reactions, Guns for hands and Holding on to You are a couple if my favourites from TØP. Also i never really thought the hair being back at the end was significant. Just thought it was because they had to film that bit then and the other bit later
Ah! Yay. Another one of my favorite bands. These two brothers are extremely talented and so much depth to their music. Bands like TOP and NF help me stay alive
So many reactors missed the "pull the steering wheel" line. I always appreciate when that is noticed. In fact you are only the 2nd one ive ever watxhed catch and comment on that.
What the moment when he takes off his hood and his hair grows back reminds me of what you often say in your videos is a kind of looper. He says "and now I just sit in silence" then shaves his head and gets up, puts on his hood and what happens is this kind of incredible explosion. After that he finds himself alone again and takes off his hood, his hair has grown back and he drops down to sit on the ground again. Like an incessant loop, he imagines that he is coming out of his torpor but no... I'm French, I hope I made myself understood ✌️
Ima say the thing with the hair at the end is because (from my experience) when your upset it feels good to make drastic changes such as bangs or shaving bald because when your upset and existential crisising you feel like you are taking control and when he does that he is in control but then at the end he no longer is in control
For me, it speaks to parts of me that I have always thought were broken...a monster inside. I recently have been diagnosed as AuDHD...a little late in life. With all of the pain and sadness without anything but the voices in my head, the intrusive though comes in that I could just pull the steering wheel. The fact I don't proves to those voices that I am stronger than they are and if I keep going I will work it out, so sometimes now I just sit in silence. My younger daughter is a "Kitchen Sink".
I think with the Car Radio theming of the song is that it represents how when a song is no longer popular, it usually is taken off the radio. I think the car radio taken from HIS Car represents how his bands music was no longer getting played in the radio (well that’s my take on it)
This song is good to show music as distraction for your depression Early Song: Talks about being silent. No radio. Silent is violent. Force to think of fear. Depression. Middle song: Give audience a taste of car radio sound like. Dope music come in. (To show the music is a good distraction of overthinking). Everyone fell in this trap because dope concert thingy and dope music edm-my beats. Finishing: Remind again abt the fear, the silent, and thinking. But everybody seem forgot it because of the car radio music distraction before. So at the end everybody choose "sleep" over "faith".
Thank you so much much for this reaction as a trauma specialist Really liked your video and will be going through your other videos Yes please do more twenty one pilots reactions I have watched many psychotherapist/ therapist reactions to twenty one pilots and one thing i haven’t seen up to now is them go through the dema map and lore. I would love to see you breakdown the psychological world of trench and dema, especially the map of dema. That would be amazing. I will let someone else in the comments explain what dema and trench is, I’m not very good at explaining. You have a new subscriber 🙂
I used to fear sitting in silence. Now that I have found myself I prefer silence... I hear hate people do not even realize they speak because I once spoke it myself. Until I removed what made me cringed at myself. That is what people fear, cringing at themselves. It's needed to make a real change
When i saw the caption for this video i fr said “A THERAPIST listening to Twenty One Pilots? Nah, if you be listening to Twenty One Pilots, you might NEED a therapist” 😭😭
I think that the Lore whith Dema starts here, Tyler is left alone with his toughts, so he sinks into his depression, thats how he ended up in Dema and under control the bishops, that would explain why blurryface was taking him to Dema in a car that was falling appart at heavy dirty soul.
Stuart, "New Subscriber" as of a few minutes ago...👋 I did an intentional search for TOP reaction videos & yours popped up so I watched your reaction. The clip of U gettin down at the beginning... ❤ Was not expected... whew! I knew right away that U liked it! I love all their songs, they're both really talented. One of my favorites is Heavy Dirty Soul... Another big one for me (with a nice musical surprise later in the song) is Bandito. I'd love to hear your reaction to either of those, but, I would love it if U reacted to any of their songs! And, as many as U want to crank out!! Suggestion: The bonus clip at the beginning of this one... Will U include something similar to that whenever U can? Sets U apart from all the rest! Now, I'm off to browse your channel content! I'm really soothed by your voice & the way U come across... Very down to earth, calm. I found myself itching to see U pause that video so U could comment! 👍⭐
Awesome reaction! Very thoughtful comments! I would love to see you react to a band called Icon for Hire. They're criminally underrated. Most of their songs deal with issues of mental health. Their lyrics are always very meaningful, and their sound is both exceptionally good (consistently so) and explores a great diversity (hard rock, electro, pop, rap...). All of their songs are worth listening to, but here are a few that are good starting points I think: Hollow, Brittle, Under the Knife, Panic Attacks, I think I'm Sick, You Can't Kill Us, Get Well II, Up in Flames, Only be a Story, Supposed to Be, Enemies. I think I overdid it... it's really hard to make a small list, they truly have made so many amazing songs.
Dear Dr. Stuart, if possible would you consider doing a reaction to Benjamin Tod's 'Using Again' ? A very emotional song reflecting upon his own life. I would love to hear what your words of wisdom on this song would be. Im currently dealing with this with someone and feel it could really help me and others. Thank you.
Definitely anything from the Trench album for them. The whole album is about mental illness and alot of the songs are connected to eachother via the videos. It's really interesting.
Kitchen sink is kind of the same with car radio, a quote from kitchen sink is “Im a kitchen sink, you don’t know what that means, because a kitchen sink to you is not a kitchen sink to me”
Shows are like a cathartic emotional release. We scream the lyrics and cry together and jump together.. it's an art form of therapy
What's your name? I want to put this up on my Seeds (app for quotes)
@@HelisaWenny Andi 🙃
@@andihd8768 thanks! What you expressed is beautiful btw
So true
Yep this
I've been to two of their concerts and it's very clear that all they want is to perform for people.

Something you might find interesting, the band name comes from the play All My Sons, where a man ends his life after a decision he makes causes the deaths of twenty-one pilots in war, including his own son.
Oh didn’t realise that. Always wondered where it came from. Thanks for sharing.
At the end his hair does come back - I think that's just a reminder to everyone that even though he puts his mask on to hide what's really going on - when it comes back off he's still the same nervous person from the beginning - I think it also shows the cycles people can go through
They are a great duo - they actually do a lot of songs about mental health
Migraine is another good one
Yes I think you are right. I obviously noticed it had grown back but in the moment didnt think about the cyclic nature of whats going on. Thanks for sharing.
It’s also because he recorded the end before anything else because this was a last minute decision before a concert
Certainly more TOP on the way
I'm right there w/you: if I'm not listening to a podcast, music, a lecture/speech, or an audio book, I'm likely watching some movie or an interesting series, but I'm almost NEVER in complete silence, I even have ear buds in when I'm out in public.
The fact that the crowd is frozen at first when he is in the middle of them. To me is like being surrounded by people but still feeling alone.
His hair growed back in sign that he survived that period and won his battle, he isnt asleep he isnt dead
For me, his hair growing back and him alone, kind of illustrates how we sometimes come full circle, back to where we started as with him going back to the very beginning of the song. Sometimes the struggle with mental health feels like that.
I think another song that does this, although perhaps more out of his religious point of view, is March to the Sea.
A new one just like this as well, backslide
I normally pester people to react to "Fairly Local" 🤣 but they all need to be reacted to really because they're all amazing. 😗
@@jeffmartin_UK yes! Fairly Local is one of my favorites ❤️
Oh yay Twenty One Pilots!! I love this song for so many reasons
A few songs I think you would appreciate:
Migraine
My Blood (Has a great music video)
Neon Gravestones
An older one but one of my all-time favorites is Trapdoor.
I'll add those to my list to check out - thanks for sharing
Migraine is great. I personally prefer one of the unplugged versions.
Love the "2 min after the reaction" clip... I have to get up and move whenever that beat drop happens! 🤘
Thanks! Its amazing how supportive people are of a 40 year old guy dancing round his room lol
Yeah thats a really good way to put it. I hadn't considered it as a cycle at the time but that makes so much sense. Thanks for sharing!
Definitely do more TØP! Suggestions: Migraine, Holding Onto You, Taxi Cab, Isle of Flightless Birds, dozens more. Great band with amazing writing and fluid genre.
I’ll check them out, thanks for sharing!

My FAVORITE duo! This concert is DEFINITELY #1 on my BUCKET LIST! Trees (LIVE at Fox Theater) is INTENSE! 🎉🎉✌️🫶🔥🎶🫂☕️
Going to check that out, not heard Trees before so thanks for the recommendation.
The album came out the day my car stereo was "taken" and it just hit a little more because of that.
Also I recommend Trees Live at the fox theatre, it's pretty amazing, the energy is palpable. Ode to sleep, is a cool video because it showcases their growth. There really isn't a bad song imo, but these two are the ones stick out in my mind.
I love this one. There's several songs of theirs that discuss sensitive topics. Hope you find a couple more of theirs.
Thanks for the comment, lots of me to think about in there. Will certainly be doing lots more TOP!
Would love to see TOP live. And I think fall out boy are pretty good too!
Car radio is such a masterpiece. Every TØP song is.
All ToP songs are very well written and much deeper than you imagine.
Thank you. I love when therapists dive into TØP
PLEASE DO MORE TWENTYONE PILOTS!!!! I loved your reaction / analysis
Easiest way to say what they do, what their genre is and Tyler’s and Josh’s goal: saving lives. For those of us struggling and for themselves. Thanks for reacting!
love these guys and the positie messages behind their songs! helped me understand myself better and feel less alone
21 pilots has this way of making you feel connected to them just through their music... their lyrics and relatability. At all ages..
Just enjoyed doing my heavydirtysoul and stressed out reaction. Loving it.
Twenty One Pilots were a big influence on NF and His music. Interesting how you caught that similarity. Loved the reaction my friend
Migraine is one of my favorites from twenty one pilots
I love your videos and I love you reacting to twenty one pilots, you should definitely check out more of they music.
greetings from argentina!!! 🌟
Hello Argentina! Yep, definitely checking out more Twenty One Pilots
Good to get a professional point of view (that meaning you are a theriapist who knows a lot about anxiety and depresion) on their songs. =)
Thank you for your reaction
Loved the opening part to this reaction. Think you’ll continue to bounce reacting to TOP.
Love that you’re continuing your reaction path on here and sharing your thoughts and insights.💜
This song and Twenty One Pilots changed my life. They give words to a lot of my trauma and pain.
A UK version sounds good - will check that out!
@@TherapistReactsOfficial the song itself in the UK MV is the original from the album. From memory the music video was done as some sort of promo in the UK.
Yes! Likewise, subscribed! 😁
A few people have mentioned that track, I’m definitely going to check it out at some point
Oh, and yes, please! More twenty one pilots reactions. I absolutely love seeing someone experienced them for the first time.
It’s often overlooked yet it is a key line for the overall meaning of my most favorite song in the world 😊
I am a recovering ruminater.. if I had any quiet time my mind would constantly ruminate every little thing over and over and over and it would eat me alive.. anger, anxiety, depression.. suicidal ideation,
Therapy along with ketamine infusion therapy has literally saved my life.
Glad you found a way through it!
Thanks Damien, I’m loving finding these tracks that people listen to too so hopefully this is a cool little journey we are both on!
You'll love Migraine by TOP. It's about depression. Beautiful writing.
Your analogy of this song is spot on... and this is coming from someone who can relate with what you are saying.
This song is so good! I love 21 Pilots. They're so talented.
Love watching them live the way the audience just knows what to do is clever
Ah!
I love both your voice (sooo calming) and your dissection of these lyrics. I really hope you check out more in the future!
I think the car radio taken from HIS Car represents how his bands music was no longer getting played in the radio (well that’s my take on it)
This song is good to show music as distraction for your depression
Early Song: Talks about being silent.
When my best friend was in hospice, I listed to this song daily.
Thank you so much much for this reaction as a trauma specialist
Really liked your video and will be going through your other videos
Yes please do more twenty one pilots reactions
I have watched many psychotherapist/ therapist reactions to twenty one pilots and one thing i haven’t seen up to now is them go through the dema map and lore. I would love to see you breakdown the psychological world of trench and dema, especially the map of dema. That would be amazing.
I will let someone else in the comments explain what dema and trench is, I’m not very good at explaining.
You have a new subscriber 🙂
Sounds interesting, I’m gonna go look at dema and trench!
I used to fear sitting in silence. Now that I have found myself I prefer silence... I hear hate people do not even realize they speak because I once spoke it myself. Until I removed what made me cringed at myself. That is what people fear, cringing at themselves. It's needed to make a real change
They are amazing and they put alot of thought and meaning into everything they do.
The car radio represents a coping mechanism and when you dont have that “coping mechanism” it might make your mind go crazy
Me screaming at the sky: you darn ancestors!!!!
Please do more therapist 🙏
Very enlightening mate, and song is amazing.
“I could pull the steering wheel” yup.
Dear Dr. Stuart, if possible would you consider doing a reaction to Benjamin Tod's 'Using Again' ? A very emotional song reflecting upon his own life. I would love to hear what your words of wisdom on this song would be. Im currently dealing with this with someone and feel it could really help me and others. Thank you.
Sounds good, I will check him out.
@@TherapistReactsOfficial Thank you, I really do appreciate the consideration.
