I've been using my Ozark Trail, and here are my updated thoughts.
I will buy something in the 40 to 100 dollar range from Kizer, Sencut, Olitans, Oknife, or even a Flissa of I'm feeling cheap as hell 😂 I'll be more satisfied with them than either of these shown here. I own a genuine 537 bailout, a wugout, a kizer bulldog, a kershaw iridium, a Flissa, and an Olitans 3" drop point. All of them are axis locks and if I could save some money I do not think I would buy a benchmade again. I am satisfied with it sure, but it's not immune from scrutiny just because it's USA made and expensive. It had a little blade stick when new, the omegas wore out after 1 year and needed replacement, and I'm not at all impressed with its edge retention when first bought. It got better as I sharpened it more and more but it was pretty bad from the factory and it went dull very quickly after the first three or 4 sharpenings it had to go through. The wugout is nice for about five minutes but it does not hold an edge whatsoever and I truly believe it had something go horribly wrong in the heat treat or grinding process. The middle ground between these two very extreme ends of someomes budget is FILLED with better quality knives with much better options and specs. That bugout sure is pretty to look at though 😂
Ozark. This country and inflation is raping us. I have both benchmade and ozark…..$10 bob
I'd rather have a car that runs and drives instead of one that just sits in the garage.
I travel a lot (air travel). I’ve surrendered a few Ozark Trail knives to TSA. And that’s why I carry Ozark trail knives. Losing $5 is much better than losing $150.

This looks like the original: medfordknife.com/product/marauder-h/ I really like this Fallout Marauder-H & Praetorian variations: medfordknife.com/special-projects/fallout-series-by-medford-knife-tool/ I wasn't familiar with this brand or these knives. Thanks for the introduction!
its not a thumb stud, its the blade stop
Yeah, Greg Medford is going to love this...have you ever seen him and his stance on this. He doesn't take it lightly ,
Nothing he can do about if it’s a Chinese manufacturer.
@TCCBLADES pretty clear in my video I didn't know who the original manufacturer is, so no, I have not seen his stance or ever heard of him.
Oh no, Greg Medford! Whoever that is lol
Medford Knife & Tool knock-off
Thank you
I'd drop $20 on it ... Don't even want to know what the name brand wants for there's...
@@gonzalez7805…what the name brand wants for “theirs”. …”there’s” is short for there is… Yes… it matters.
@@gonzalez7805they're around $700 depending on finish/configuration.
So I’ve been using a Kizer Baby in 154cm and to be honest it is performing around decent 440c which makes sense because it is minutely altered 440c. I honestly thought 154cm would perform better. For example I carved some ham off the bone and must have ran the knife on the bone a bit and it was glinting at me in a nasty way. I will be interested in hearing how you think that steel performs.
A while back I found a tanto tipped one with 537 in the title, so that's I guess a bailout. I cannot for the life of me find a bailout clone or replica and that's the only way Id ever order one. There was an ultem one for sale that was pretty nice but, alas it is gone 😂
Very cool knife
One of these days I will pick up a Civivi fixed blade.
This one is a good one, I think.
Loving these Civivi knives. I have the Mini Praxis, Elementum 2, and the Blazen. Going to have to pick up a fixed blade!
You know by posting this you're going to get them banned on Amazon................ Why are people so dumb????????
Except it wasn't. Just sold out.
What’s the blade steel?
Its $60 worth to civivi...

Manix 2
That knife with the big belly and The pencil thin green handle will suck it for prolonged use having worked as a game processor doing multiple deer an hour I can tell you I would not use it
That knife at 7 minutes and 50 seconds is a copy of an esee 3
If u have issues deploying out of a hole...dont. use the lockbar for both. My 2 cents
The problem with these knives is the 410 to 420 steel and in the end this makes them worthless no matter how functional they are. If the base entry was 440c they would all be excellent choices for the price. Sad but true!
Yeah, Blade Steel is questionable.
Both are fake. Ka-bar doesn't put USA on their knives or scabbards anymore. I just bought one last week from Blade HQ and they buy direct.
Correct. I wasn't aware of them not putting USA on them. Thanks for the info.
Yea they DONT ANY MORE BUT THERE STILL SOME OUT THERE THAT STILL HAVE USA ON THEM the reason of them not putting USA no more is because they switched to German steel
The handles aren't the same. Old ones are pinned.. New ones have a Phillips screw that comes loose and the handle has been honeycombed for weight the old ones had a solid piece .. Dropped the new one and the handle shattered
Yeah I don't think the handles are actually as good as the originals. I just meant the look.
What's it called?
What. Action? I was surprised by the ozark in everything... Except the action is horrendous.
That's Not a stitch, it just a MSI
Yes, I have the Stitch as well, and I was thinking about it when I was talking.
I'm hoping the Kizer Smolt is your favourite
Some people question whether the Osborne is the best knife. Others question if there are better options for the money. I personally don’t own one, but the new burnt copper 940 or 9400 auto is on my radar. Here’s my take, I think Benchmade quality is undisputed. They offer a lifetime warranty and the lifesharp (free sharpening) program. There are many great knife manufacturers out there, but very few offer the same level of support and service as Benchmade for the price. Are there better quality knives? Sure…I suppose, but all things are relative. I’ve been carrying the same Benchmade Leopard for roughly 30 years. It’s been a great knife! I also carry other blades, but Benchmade knives will always have a permanent place in my collection. There’s a knife for every pocket to suit every need. For me personally, I find that the Osborne strikes an excellent balance. It’s very pocketable, so it doesn’t take up much space and the blade length is very usable which is good for various cutting tasks. As an all around multi-role knife, the Osborne is hard to beat.
They are both fake the lettering on blades on in the wrong place.
Its a short seax, thanks foe the look. Merry Christmas.
Pretty nice but the steel is probably on the softer side. Hard to get in Australia. Rey easy to sharpen that blade profile.
Bugout because real knives are better than clones made by WalMart
MSI all day I love mine. I upgraded the washers from the factory Teflon caged bearing to phosphor bronze skiff bearings and upgraded the scales from factory injection molded to some original goat aluminum scales with a gun stock pattern.
Finger choil on the fake isn’t even close to how the original looks.
Buying the benchmade. The Ozark trail is a great knife for the money until after the first time you put it to use. It doesn’t hold an edge worth shit and I haven’t even tested if it’ll bend easy. Not bad to toss in an insole or top of a tool box though. Everyday carry? Hell no.
Try a sage5 great Spyderco knive manix is ok but the spring is to hard to pullback At least on the one I have is that way stage five great all rounder
I love the Spyderco Manix 2, however, I think the native five may even surpass the Manix
Might look at the bodacious also. They are all good i love my manix just prefer compression lock. Temu? Huh😂
Good video brother don't worry about the negative comments they'll always be haters I enjoyed it keep them coming
Looks like a essee camp lore
Trash video
Boker huh?
Manix 2 is great definitely has the edge over the shaman in terms of cutting geometry but I’m just not super in love with the aesthetics of it. Also the g10 one is very heavy - the linerless aluminium scales from AWT completely transform the knife, making it way more balanced and it’s waaaaaay less of a PITA to disassemble/reassemble. I prefer the Native 5 over the manix any day but that may just be because of my preference for smaller knives. It’s the best looking spyderco IMO, has excellent cutting geometry, is super fidgety in its own way and is easy to tune to have the best backlock action I’ve ever experienced while having insanely solid lockup. Also they can absolutely be flicked out - and I don’t mean they CAN be flicked but it’s unpleasant like a lot of people seem to suggest. I held off getting one for so long because everyone kept saying ‘oh you can’t flick them’ or ‘they aren’t any good at flicking’ etc but once I got a lightweight one it was a little stiff at first but I took it apart cleaned it and lubed it up and it pretty much immediately became easy and satisfying for me to reverse flick or thumb flick. Same thing with my g10 model which is now wearing fluted ti scales that I anodised. The native 5 (and I presume the other US backlocks) are completely incomparable to the Seki city ones as well, I have a couple Delica’s and dragonfly’s (and I especially love my k390 wharnie delica) but the quality is nowhere near the native 5, no matter how I tune the pivot tension, polish the washers, replace the FRN backspacers that house the backlock springs - I can never get them to drop to the index finger without a shake while still retaining zero blade play whereas it’s child’s play with a native. An honorable mention for me is the mantra 3. It’s only an honorable mention because it’s specifically MY mantra 3 that is IMO better than the manix. The truth is the mantra 3 is a (now discontinued) knife that had soooo much potential but was a complete epic fail. It’s a compression lock flipper with the handle of a Delica both in size and ergonomic lines and a blade with the same amount of cutting edge as the much larger pm2 that’s like a cross between a paramilitary clip point blade and a sage/manix leaf blade with the thinner stock thickness like the sage/native. It’s on bearings, made in Taiwan and has the deep carry wire clip. Sounds pretty great right? Well unfortunately Taichung completely screwed the pooch on the detent strength, making the flipper tab more of a hindrance for most people, barely launching the blade halfway 😂😂 then the other major issue is that the way they shaped and positioned the flipper tab, it swings right through where it is most natural to place your finger/thumb when disengaging the knife, stopping the blade from closing. You can move your finger out of the way while swinging it shut or just disengage the lockbar lower down but it just leaves you thinking “well, I can make this work but it’s kinda annoying and just why when I could just use a comp lock without a flipper” also the lack of a choke up spot hinders the ergonomics a bit and some of - especially the early runs - had this area that was recurved where the blade ran up to the flipper tab (mine doesn’t have any recurve). Oh and how can I forget the dreaded ‘fake’ (laminate CF/g10) CF scales 😂 probably the least of the issues considering it’s the same material used on popular models like the smock.. Now despite all these logical reasons (of which I was completely aware) not to buy this knife - its siren call continued to ring in my head - until one day, I handled a mantra 3 with a detent that had been fixed through dremeling out the insufficiently sized detent hole - and hot damn I was ready to move heaven and earth to acquire one! Now at this point it was well and truly discontinued but I managed to find a single mantra 3 from old stock on some danish knife store’s website (that I’d never heard of lol). Once it arrived I fixed the detent so that it flips exceptionally well, as well as flicking with the hole great. Since then I bought a CME button for the lockbar which I modified to allow the flipper tab to pass through under the button, making it function essentially as a left handed (which I am) button compression lock. I also replaced the wire clip with a titanium lynch clip (which does fit but is tricky to install because of the location of the clip screw) and added a sharpening choil which serves the dual purpose of making the blade look much more conventionally attractive rather than how it was with the blade running directly into the flipper as well as giving just the tiniest extra bit of space to allow a reasonably comfy ‘trigger pull’ choke up spot on the flipper tab. Honestly probably is my favorite spyderco 😂 only thing holding it back now is the fact that it’s (deserved) lack of popularity means there are absolutely no aftermarket scales anywhere on the planet 😢 ah well a man can dream, I would pay an awful lot to get some solid twill, fat carbon or hell even micarta scales for this knife. Well thank you for listening to this unnecessarily long ode to the cursed yet glorious mantra 3 ❤🎉😅
Wish, ali express, and many others are the same. OK knives hes replicas with better steels like vg-10 that are genuine and some in 9 crmov that says (printed S30V). I got sevreal 9 crmov and ar rpm 9 that i love, one being the ferrum forge mini archbishop i love. I want and without texting, believe the bel air is better, i know the hogue dekas are better as well than bugouts.
But do they accomplishe the same thing, though? Plenty of good knives in between btw
I have both. Prefer the bugout. Far better quality, obviously.
Fake 940. You can tell just by the font
That Haung Fu is pretty interesting looking. I couldn't find it on Amazon though and I don't trust Temu. Would like to get one but won't buy off Temu. Unfortunately.
Sage 5 maybe
