Thank you Erica for a great layer cake pattern. Fyi...I used to think Mary ellen's best press wouldn't shrink my layer cake pieces. A recent pattern I used needed the whole ten inch square and sure enough when I measured the original layer cake piece against the one i had pressed, the Mary Ellen treated fabric had shrunk. I re configured the pattern so it will be ok I'm sure but want to save others the hassle. On your pattern it should be fine since your largest piece is 8.5 inches. Thanks again for your inspiring videos. xx Karen
Hi Erica! I have had the Nantucket Summer layer cake for some time now, but just recently finished the quilt top, and it’s now at the quilters! Mine is a combination of Nantucket Summer, Dwell, and Shoreline. I did do the Dwell border the same as yours, as well as the Nantucket Summer backing. I just love this pattern, and so glad to have finally made this Lucky quilt. Great job in designing it! It’s certainly one of my favorites!
I’ve been sewing and quilting for most of my life… and let’s just say that’s been decades… lol. I happened to check out your channel after hearing it mentioned on The Farming Pastor’s Wife. I’ve subscribed as I really enjoyed your concise, informative videos. Even after all the sewing I’ve done, you still hold my attention and I am getting good ideas and instruction. Sadly I used to watch a quilting show on tv, but it seems to be the same old stuff week after week. I look forward to all your craft projects!
Good Evening Erica, What a Beautiful Quilt❣️ That was an interesting way you made the center block, I haven’t seen that before and suddenly it became a very nice block❣️👍 ❣️ I hope you have a wonderful weekend. 🥰 Chris
Im new to quilting, and just want to say thank you for all your easy to follow videos. Ive learned so much from your channel, and love your color choices, and style. :)
You knocked it out of the park on this one Miss Erica…I didn’t even finish the video before I bought the pattern. 😝 So excited, I’ve had the Nantucket collection for so long and just couldn’t cut into it…until today. Wahoo Best bloopers of the year at the end of this one. The struggle is REAL when your kids are hungry! 😂 Have a terrific weekend Arndt Family. 🤗🤗
Erica do you have a great taste in fabric choices. I love the way you put the blues together to match your layer cakes and then to add a different line for the background was quite nice. I also like the back of the quilt and the binding. And I like the blue percent the end. It’s obvious you like your family.
Wow. The first thing I noticed when your block was shown was the pressing. It looks so wonderful! Crisp and neat and springy! Thanks for your advice on the Best Press.
I love this quilt and what a cute quilt I have this layer cake and more so I plan to make a couple…Im amazed at how you cut and sew all your quilt squares so fast and accurate! Im still working on the tiny quilted ornaments I learned a lot of new techniques especially with such small squares…love your videos and I learned finally how to crochet with your video! YAY!!! Ive been trying for years and watching your video A-LOT! I finally got it…so excited 😆 Thanks for such great videos and patterns!👏☺️
Great quilt. I so like how you took the time to show close up of spinning the corners. I knew how to but seeing it done counter clock wise and clockwise made it so easy. Great tutorial thanks
Thank you for this tutorial Erica. I finally learned how to make the seam open where they connected to reduce bulk. I also learned more shortcuts. You do an excellent job teaching and don’t seem to miss anything that helps improve quilting. Thank you!
I love how you explained spinning the seams! I’ve heard of that technique and what I found for tutorial made it seem confusing. You made it so simple, thank you!
Love this quilt pattern and the way it turned out when you turned the block! My mouth dropped! Quick question. Do you use Best Press with your Oliso? My self riser arm is getting gunked up.
Bought the pdf file - transaction was perfect. This pattern is well written and easily understood, great video. Beautiful block and makes an amazing quilt.
Hi Erica just received pdf pattern. Thanks so much for listing fabrics you used. You have a great eye for colour combinations. There are very few quilting shops in Ireland making it difficult to match fabrics, much easier to shop online for exact fabric you used. Now going to track all the fabric down.
I saw your post on instagram about this quilt so I had to come watch the video. Definitely putting this one on my list! Very pretty pattern. Nantucket summer is one of my favorite fabric lines.
I always had a hard time trying to figure out spinning seams. I love the way you explained the clockwise and counterclockwise to figure it out. Thanks!
I like your pressing technique. To get the results I want my strategy is to press from the back. If I’m not looking at the seams inevitably I end up with a mess. Thank you for reaffirming that pressing technique. I have a layer cake, Sunday Stroll by Bonnie and Camille. This pattern would work!!
I have been wanting to make my daughter a quilt but she has not shown any interest in a pattern or colors until she saw the Lucky Layercake pattern I purchased from you. I was so excited, I can finally make her a quilt. Its going to be a surprise. Love your channel and have learned so much from you. Great choices of color always.
I am older so it’s nice to have such fabulous patterns!
Thanks! Your directions and camera work made it so easy to understand!

Love this quilt pattern and the way it turned out when you turned the block! My mouth dropped! Quick question. Do you use Best Press with your Oliso? My self riser arm is getting gunked up.
I don't put water in my Oliso anymore at all. I just use the Best Press Bottle to spray my fabric, then press it with my iron.
Very cute!!!
Beautiful great tutorial
