Thank you. I am also driving 1.9TDI skoda fabia with 300K miles on it. Your videos made me as a DIY er to fix problems in my car. Garage told me to throw the car as it could be expensive to fix the problem in the car and doesn't worth its value. But I won't. I love my car. Will keep it until it really die. A true high mileage hero .. Will follow each one of your videos.. Thanks for your videos
Great, a real fabi hero. Glad to hear you love your car so much. Many of the problems I came across didn't cost much to fix. The cost is in time to figure stuff out and taking time and care when dismantling not to break anything. Stay safe :-)
A great video. I'm really impressed about the quality of your videos. They are the best on UA-cam. You worked a lot of time for us. Thank you very much.
Another piece of great timing Harvey ! One of the kids spilled milk on the front carpet and it stinks ! Going taking it out today ! Thanks a million ! Helpful clear instructions !! I have to take out the drivers and passenger side windows soon - I need a Harvey video for that job ! Thanks Again Donal
Hi Harvey ! I had the confidence to do the 2 front windows myself using bits of a few videos ! Not as clear and precise as yours - a couple of watchouts - make sure the door handle cable is back in the doorcard clip - make sure you have all the wiring fed properly and pull the 2 black bungs out and align the window clamps with them ! I would not have had these issues if I was following a Harvey video !
Hi Donal James, glad you were able to gain the confidence to do the job (it's satisfying when you finish a good job) and even offer tips, great, will have to do this sometime, thanks for the complement/encouragement also :-)
@@HatBoyHarvey you still have your mk1? I suppose change to mk2 won't be so big of an improvement but it's good car. What is bugging me is those little things that tend to brake - the heater blower bearing squeaking, rear drum brakes leaking, some problems with central locking system. In general it's nothing but these can be a pain in the back of your body ;)
I need to weld the sills as they are a bit rusty so it isn't on the road and I need a new mig welder. They design-in complexity so if you don't know what you are doing it can break only too easily :-(

hi there , many t hanks for the video, its a great help for hopefully changing the cigarette lighter unit which seems to be blown, so, please could you tell me if the replacement of the gear stick top involved replacing the little clip and if so how was this done ? does it snap on? also are you able to reattach the plug of the cigarette lighter unit before re attaching the console?
No need to replace the little clip. Firmly pull the lever off or ease open the clip a bit if you can't pull the lever off. When re-assembling push the lever fully on, if it is a bit loose then use some old nail pliers and tighten the clip. You have to re-attach the connections for the cigarette lighter as you install the console, but the lighter part fits into the console separately. You can fit a new cigarette lighter unit with the console fully out of the vehicle. Hope this helps :-)
Yes, I'll be doing the front shortly, for the rear I have only disc, so if your car is drum I wont be able to do that. Disc rear help video: ua-cam.com/video/oK6fAH6L_HA/v-deo.html
Thank you, very interesting. I'm thinking of substituting the lighter socket for one of those usb ports, for I don't smoke, using the original 12v lighter installation. Do you think it's a good idea? Thanks!
No, be careful with these as they transform the power to a lower voltage and in doing so consume a small amount of power from the battery. As the lighter socket wiring is permanently on it will run down the battery unless you rewire the socket to an 'only on' with ignition fuse.

@@HatBoyHarvey wow, thanks, I had no idea! So of course I'll leave it like that. And just use a usb adapter when charging devices.
Yes, I didn't cover that bit, but just show you the clip. As you can see @5:02 the clip points outwards to the seat, do that first, maybe a good light or small mirror would help, don't know what else to say except don't force it, take your time and be persistant :-)
Yes, this would be a good video, complex system. I did it to this car a few years ago; you have to take the front of the car off. It is important not to release refrigerants into the atmosphere, so you will need to take it into a shop to empty the system first, before changing out the condenser. You should change the receiver dryer at the same time also :-)
Respect! Do you have box compartment under passenger seat? My Fabia does it but it s broken. I bought a new one and I must replace it with new one. But I don't know is it complicated? Thank you. Greetings from Serbia, Balkan peninsula.
Hi, Sorry, no, I thought about putting one in, but then thought all the stuff would rattle about, so never got around to it. I know you have to lift the seat out to do it. Can't be too hard :-)
Pondering for a while I did possibly think it may have been that. Four bolts on each I think, disconnect the battery before you unclip the airbag and other connections as it may throw up the airbag warning light when re-connecting, so may need clearing afterwards - will look into it :-)
I'm from Slovakia, but in all of Czechoslovakia there is no video on how to dismantle this center panel. You helped me a lot. Thank you.
ste veľmi vítaní. Som rád, že moje video pomohlo.

Just want to say I bought a fabia with a few minor niggly issues that I decided to sort myself. You've been a god send mate, thank you!

Nice one. I've dropped my debit card into the handbrake housing fool that I am. Cheers fella.
Thanks, I've done that with a credit card once, but managed to get to it out with some tweezers :-)
