  • Art Thomya, a Thai singer/songwriter, will show you LOCAL EXPERIENCES in MAE HONG SON, Thailand's Northern province known as 'The City of 3 Mists'. King Bhumibol visited this place half a century ago and initiated Royal Development Projects that turned mountains of opium into mountain of coffee and winter fruits. Art was accompanied by his local friends, who are eager to show you the charms of their hometown.
    Let's take this journey together!

i spent 2 weeks with a Karen village when I was 17. One of their community had, for want of a better word, "development" issues. The whole village of 150 people treated him as a valued member, who was just as capable as they were, of contributing to their society. The scenery is spectacular the food is awesome, but the people made it perfect.

I'm feeling so homesick now . . . I'm trapped in England while my family are in Mae Hong Son town and Pai.
This felt like a little taste of getting back.

I've visited MHS about a dozen times, most recently to get video of the Sunflower fields in full bloom (middle two weeks of November). It is a lovely area but compared to Pai (MHS population 6000, Pai 2500), there is a lot less to do. Unfortunately, the MHS airport NFZ limits what one can do with a drone in town. Nice video, regardz!

Thank you so much for sharing your story about MAE HONG SON. I was glad to have filmed there in several locations. Pai is the most popular district, yet still very beautiful. I love PANG UNG in the winter time where there is a morning fog all over the reservoir. Such a beautiful picture.
Hope you enjoy other videos in this channel too. More to come!

Thanks for another great video Art. I'm planning on doing the Mae Hong Son loop this year by motorcycle. I was wondering if i need to book places to stay in advance, or will i be able to find places along the way?

Hi Chaka, you can book in advance for popular places like Pai district. For other districts, if you travel on weekdays, you can research at spot and book upon walking-in. Enjoy your trip!

Air Asia does not fly to MHS, only Bangkok Airways. Lovely video.

    • @ArtThomyaJourney

Hi Bob, thanks for watching. For MAE HONG SON, I flew Air Asia to CHAING MAI Airport and drove pass HOD district of CHIANGMAI and MAE SARIENG district of MAE HONG SON to reach this place called MAE LA NOI. It is a recommended route.
Bangkok Airways has flight from CHIANGMAI airport to MAE HONG SON airport (located in MUANG district). For this route, you can explore MUENG district and around and it takes about 2.5-3 hours to MAE LA NOI district. MAE HONG SON is quite big. We can plan which parts we will visit.
Thanks again for your kind feedback and hope the videos in this channel are helpful for your travel. Lots of smiles :):):)
