Yesss veggie healthy meals; I know I'm going to learn a lot from this video. Thank you for sharing this with us. You, your family and everybody watching have an amazingly beautiful day and evening.
Mark, I can't begin to convey how much your Big on Spice series means to me. I've wanted to visit Thailand (and SEA) for so long but have been anxious about food since I don't eat meat or fish. Postpandemic I am planning a trip using all this information and am SO EXCITED!!! I just love seeing all the produce and herbs that are so integral to a local region. And the LOVE these Aunties put into these amazing dishes! Thank you Mark and family
the best thing to do in Asia is to say you are Buddhist and most restaurants understand that and will be able to direct you to food which doesn't have meat or fish!!!
Mark you and your big smile. Are just the best . It's so relaxing and comforting to watch Please never stop and thank you for bringing your other channels back 🙏
Mark , my late grand mom was Shan and we ate those salad and veggies all the time in our childhood . Our dad loved those traditional Shan dishes . Thank you Mark . ( from Myanmar)
So much to love about northern Thai cuisine and food culture. I think it really is the worlds most sophisticated in terms of flavour, texture and complexity with balance.
@@kyawswehan thai made is thai food, She probably didn't know that was Myanmar food or not because It's her original idea of ingredients combination for the dish
this is what we eat when we were young... during weekends... visiting paddy farm and tamarid leave salad, small jackfruit salad, rice salad (Hta Min Tok-ထမင်းသုပ်) , Shrimp Paste with Green Marian Pulm : Ma Yan Thee Nga Pi Htaung...sooo many memories.. thank you so much for sharing and bring back those good old days ..... amazing...
As a loyal vegan viewer of all your channels and videos, I absolutely love every kind of dish and cuisine you enjoy; I don't shy away from meat dishes, especially the variety and complexity of some foods you have found all over the world. (In fact, its almost a trick I play, when I eat my vegan food and watch you enjoy all the meats, b/c then it's like I am eating the chicken, pork, seafood etc). Plus, I've eaten many meats throughout my life, so I'm glad I can dream a little. BUT, when you profile plant based foods like these, it's the meals I most wish I could actually share with you and those who prepare them. ESPECIALLY when I see TAMARIND LEAVES?? Those are stunningly beautiful! Makes me veggie green with loving envy. Earth is Amazing. Thank you, and yum!!!
" THE AUNTIES" AMAZING DISPLAY OF RESPECT I WISH MANY CULTURES WOULD BE LIKE THAT GOD BLESS YOU WEINS 👪 YOUR A BLESSING IN MY LIFE SO RELAXING JUST 👀 THIS CHANNEL 🇨🇺
Mark, you really got me excited with this video. There is clearly lots of unhealthy food in Thailand and I love, love that you are showing us that there is delicious healthy food to be found in Thailand. Those salads look phenomenal.
I'm quickly beginning to realize that Big On Spice is my favorite Mark Weins channel. Well done..like the others have mentioned, Mark is bringing so many new ingredients into our worlds...because of Mark we started making tempoyak from fermented durian here on the big island of hawaii and so many people are completely blown away. Your influence is changing the world for the better Mark!! Many thanks. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I Absolutely Enjoyed Every Second of this video. Watching your Big On Spice Channel in your series in Thailand has made me strongly realize that I LOOOVVEEEE THAI CUISINE of any kind. I grew up eating South Asian Food, so my Pallete looks for chillie and spice. Usually South Asian Food has that dried spices turned into paste which i love, yet i find myself drifting more towards Thai way of Fresh and Dried Spices. Absolutely Amazing Mark, all your series. Mark Aboard, Big On Spice and your main channel, are all OUR saving Grace. Its always soothing, refreshing, calm and het adventurous watching all your videos. Above all, i LOVE watching you and your beautiful family. We all literally watched Little Michah Grow up in front of us and Your Gorgeous Wifes Laugh is always a treat in your videos. GodBless You and Your Family Mark and again thankyou for bringing some type of comfort to us especially during these tuff times. Means alot to us all 💟
So happy to see a fully plant-based meal! I'm in a plant-based diet now for almost 6 years and also loves watching your videos. The young tamarind leaves salad sounds so good and can't wait to try it out. Love and support from Palawan, Philippines!!!!
it looks all SO good. a lot of product are not available where I live. But this gives so much inspiration to make salads of my own. Thank you for sharing this .
Now this is amazing veggie content! I much prefer this type of cuisine to more westernized vegetarian food that seems to be missing something. All the versions of fermented beans and unusual vegetables were a real revelation to me and gave me some more pandemic home fermenting ideas! I especially love the idea of drying fermented bean paste for long term storage and making a powder from it. Umami sprinkles! And the sassy aunt must have added a little extra flavor to the meal!
Wow! So many new ingredients I’ve never heard of - young tamarind leaves, lablab, and fermented soy disks … Now I’ll be on the hunt to see how to get those in the states! - Mark, this channel has such a tremendous impact on people on how to incorporate more veggies into their dishes. Keep up the great work!
I'm not sure if you find this soybean powder in the State. I live in Maehongson and even in Thailand this is quite a unique dish, most of Thai in other provinces don't know about this menu. It is easy to buy this soya powder( Tua Nao) from local markets here as a ready made packet. It give you salty taste and protein at the same time.😋
Namprik tua nao is my most favorite kind of nam prik, but I have only ever had it with the fresh fermented tua nao, not the dried discs. If you haven't tried it fresh yet Mark I have to recommend that you do! Thanks for a great video- this one really made me homesick for northern Thailand.
I love vegies❤️❤️❤️ In the Phil, we also cook young tamarind leaves with flowers with chicken, or milkfish(bangus) and with morning glory with finger chilies(3pcs) onions and a few taro roots. It's called Sinampalukan (tamarind fruit and leaves and flowers) bangus (milkfish) or sinampalukang (cooked in with tamarind fruit with young leaves and flowers) manok (chicken). It's another style of Sinigang, a sour soup , a well known soup in the Philippines!
Mark, I'm enjoying all your videos so far. Not a night goes by that me and my wife don't watch your video. Thank you, I wish you success with the continuity.
Aww what beautiful grandma .. she reminds me of mine !!’ The cooking get aura so similar!!! Buddha bless & ty for the share of delicious foods & amazing family ❤️🙏🏽💐
WOW Big change from the U.S.A cross country diet! Yeah; the Tua Gnow Peng (disks of dried, fermented soybean) seem to be ubiquitous in Northern Thai cooking, not just Thai Yai. My wife used to make them with her mother from Soy beans that they grew. She explained the long, complex process. You see them at every store and market out in the country up north here. I'm lucky enough to have had at least 1/2 of that meal Mark is eating there. I love that place and have watched most of the other videos from there! Would love to visit Pe (Aunti,) there!
Very healthy eating & definitely very unique salads I have not seen before. You should show us how they make the soy disc, awesome idea to add to foods.
Hi mark I watched your video when u r just started. I support ur channel long time ago. I'm happy for you now. You r famous now and ur channel grow. Good luck! Stay safe.

“Oh, Wow!” Amazing episode, Mark! 🤩 I wish I could teleport to the Muang Pon Village and hang out with this talented Auntie. I would never stop eating!! 🤤
