Cheddar is a wonderful cat. When cats start to spray where they live is mostly because they feel threatened by other cats who that think is coming into their territory. It’s a aggravating protest. Selfish irresponsible people create wild & unwanted cats & dogs to suffer. Laura & Aaron has been so generous in talking care of these beautiful creatures & here comes the Angel Bethany to the rescue. Thank you!

Two specific things I loved about this video. 1 that when you are asked a direct question about if you like a product you give your honest feedback and don’t just say it’s great to sell it and make money off the sale. 2 that you guys are considerate enough to do a whole separate channel about the items you sell so that we are not flooded with ads but have a place to get more info and questions answered. I really appreciate how genuine you are and know that whenever I hear a product recommendation it’s because you really believe in the product and want to make our gardening experience better. I had said to my Dr. I don’t like wearing them and I’m in the garden 6-8 hrs in the garden all summer. His response was “Well that’s probably why you have this”. I have been wearing a hat and usually looking down, planting and pulling weeds. Guess that wasn’t enough. I am 70 yrs. old. I wish somebody had told me this sooner. Females with blue eyes are more at risk. I have been watching your UA-cam’s for several years and enjoy every minute…. And still learning. I recently started wearing long sleeves from Farmers’ Defence. The best way to describe them is they look like the old long opera gloves without the fingers. They cover your arm from near the shoulder down over the back of your hands. They are spf 50 fabric and so far seem breathable. They protect against the sun and scratches from things like roses and branches. They come in plain or printed fabric. If you’re wearing something with a short sleeve (t-shirt, polo shirt etc) your entire arm is protected. 😊

At the 28:45 mark, I'd like to mention that when I had a pond on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada, the iris were vigorous - so much so that it was very difficult to keep them in check once they established. Some of the roots were as big around as my wrist and were rooted into the rocks that covered the pond liner. I had to use a tree saw in some cases to remove them. I'm happy to see that you've left yours in the pots and hope that alleviates any issues with their roots spreading uncontrollably! Love your videos and even though I am no longer living in a space where I can garden, and my body no longer allows me to do it, I still watch you faithfully and pass along your wisdom to family and friends who still garden. Please know your expertise is valued and your videos are wonderful!

Good morning! Another great recap! Thank you for answering the Cheddar question. I never thought you helped Cheddar over the Rainbow Bridge, I was thinking that he just passed away! I’m glad he is doing well and living with Bethany!!

I so want to thank you for the update on Cheddar, I was heartbroken when I didn't see him. You know the only reason why he spray is because of other cats. I told my son that I would hop on a plane to come and get him. And yes, I know this is a garden channel. But he like family. And I love seeing him. I learn so much from you. So thank you. PS that hand saw that Aaron was using. can I get one.

The Garden Answer Store channel is a great idea. Through the years you have made so many "how to" videos of products/tools that you use as well as reviews/comparisons of other products (i.e. "best hose wands") that to have one generalized place to search for information on something you're curious about, would be really helpful. I understand that this would mainly be for products you offer in-store, but I hope that you would also include all videos pertaining to products/tools that you've dealt with and/or use whether you sell them or not. Just a suggestion.

Nice of Bethany to take Cheddar. I wouldn't have a cat that sprays, but it would be hard to find a new home. Sweet Bethany ❤ Give away the artichokes...someone will want to eat them!

As more homes surround you, more neighborhood cats will invade. Cheddar felt threatened and started marking. Since Bethany lives in a rural area on her farm, there will be no visiting cats, thus Cheddar will have no reason to mark his territory.

Just harvested my garlic. This was my first time growing it. I got three heads, which is perfect for two of us.
You inspired me to try this, so thank you for the inspiration to expand my garden.
I’ve hung them to dry, and look forward to using it.

If you grew more, you could peel it and whiz it up in the food processor and freeze it in little blobs to use all year. I grew some for the first time this year too. It is drying and curing right now and I will freeze mine this way.

Laura, save the blossom on the artichoke plant and dry that blossom......looks great in fall arrangements. Have you ever thought about just putting seeds of wild flower seeds in the new field behind the container competition. OR would that be too possible for the seeds to go anywhere? they do that along the roads in NC and nice to see as you drive.

    • @cynthiafisher9907

Rick award is fantastic. I too like when are the pots are the same, BUT I really appreciate being able to see how different combinations look and grow too. I'm glad you found a good solution for Cheddar, but I will miss seeing him in your videos. What about Blacklace Elderberry's on that hillside? After you really clean out the soil can you put Espoma soil and or compost in and pant the arbs in the new soil - perhaps the original soil just reverts to that hardpan and the roots struggle too much??

I have had my Tiger Eye Sumac for about 10 years. When we put in the waterfall going into the pool we continued with the armour stone around the pool area. We have had very little, almost no suckering with that tree behind the stone. If you got some of those big stones you could plant it raised and that would work great and look amazing. I also have a regular Sumac beside the water fall and no problems with it because of the armour stone.

I'm happy to hear about Cheddar being re-homed with Bethany. But ... I'm curious how Bethany can be okay with him spraying. Does she have a 'magic touch' in retraining an animal's behavior?

    • @Ibis333

I got the impression that where Laura is, they have feral cats coming around which compels Cheddar to spray (also, it seems to me, the spraying problem coincided with Douglas's arrival). Perhaps Bethany doesn't have that same issue where she is.

I recently started being more conscious about my skin too - wearing long sleeves, a hat and glasses - shame on me - 69 in Florida! But I started wearing glove 10 years ago. I wiped my brow and got dirt in my left eye. It turned into a major eye infection. Four compounded drugs later and the day before my eye was to be removed, my doctor was able to halt the infection spread. I still have my eye, but the infection scarred part of my cornea and I now have only 10% vision in that eye! Please wear gloves!
PS I commented on Hoselink's FB page about needing a longer hose. They responded indicating that they are working on a longer hose!!!
