Tape delay (el cap) sounds amazing on electric guitar, synths, electric drums (808s), electric piano (rhodes). Digital Delay (DIG) sounds amazing on acoustic instruments that are very pure in tone and have no dirt or distortion, this includes acoustic guitar but it'd also sound amazing on orchestral instruments.
Whichever one you chose, you´re bound to be happy with it as they are both amazing. The Dig personally appeals to me more for acoustic as it´s so crystal clean. I can get a bit dirty from some other pedals i already have when needed.
OK, 4 years later, what are your thoughts? I have the El Capistan. It does SOUND beautiful, but I'm wondering if the DIG has the same sound quality but also has many more pattern manipulation options. On the El Cap, the tape age knob seems to do very little, except change the tone a little. The wow/flutter just adds some warbly modulation. So would you say the DIG sounds just as good but also has many more delay pattern options?

They both sound great! Think I prefer the Dig for acoustic but may like the ElCapistan better for electric .

what is your favorite most natural pickup for acoustic?
Gibson J-45 + Fishman Ellipse Aura Pick up using:) I think Natural tone pick up is Antherm SL.
Both will work fine for any genre. No such thing as acoustic is better with this... Electric is better with that...
