Keiran is such a great character... I wish he had lived till later in the story. I would have loved to see his take on the gangs fall. I think he would be loyal to Arthur over Dutch, for sure.
I thought Kieran was a likeable character and even felt bad for him after I found out more about his backstory in his fishing mission. I wish he was utilized more before he was killed off.
I think everyone who died would have sided with Arthur over Dutch by the end. Killing them off doubled to show how the gang was going downhill and in dire straits, as well as making the final confrontation non chapter 6 more impactful as Arthur and John have nobody left on their side.
Most of the folks that die before the betrayal would be in Arthur’s side, it feels like Micah had plan all of their deaths
Just as hosea and lenny
We will never stop finding new details in this game,it's so freaking amazing. In epilogue I find same colour horse Old Boy Jr I call him btw
Kieran saying he'd give his life for Jack is just made more sad by the fact he dies after Jack is retuned to the camp.
They thought he was some kind of treator, turned out that it wasn’t him. He was one of the nicest characters in the game.
It's all of these tiny details that make the world feel "lived in." RDR2 is the only game I've played where you feel like the world exists and carries on without you.
Truly
Thats with any Rockstar games not just GTA 3.
I won't say it's the only game because not only would it be a discredit to other games with an impressive array of details, but even to Rockstar's previous work where they've been known for an incredible attention to detail in their worlds since GTA III. But otherwise, I 100% agree.
skyrim
Not every GTA game though, every GTA before GTA IV feels and is very sandboxy, definitely does not feel "lived in"
Strange man is literally strange man, that's why he knows everything
I N D E E D
someone just got the channel name lol
🤯
@@RDBTheRedDeath oh no way, good to see you here partner!
@@RDBTheRedDeath its the young boy
I think it’s also cool to mention that Micah’s horse Baylock strikes an uncanny resemblance to the Dark Horse in RDR1, which you could only get through low honor. It only adds to the small hints of Micah being the antagonist.
Baylock probably got tired of Micah's bullshit that even he ran away
Low hanging fruit
That whole thing with John and Javier, shows just how reactive and genuine the NPCs are to your actions or inactions.
I'm sure this is something a lot of people know but I'm also sure it's something many didn't know. In American Venom after Cleet is killed John swaps his cowboy hat for Arthurs black hat. This shows that he wanted his brother to be there with him spiritually and because he wanted to remind Micah of his sins. It also makes the moment where Arthur gives John his hat a more beautiful moment.
I always thought John wore Arthur's hat from the moment he left Beecher's Hope to ride with Sadie and Charles but I guess t's cool to learn that he doesn't swap hats until he leaves Cleet to ride up Mount Hagen specifically.
@@themadtitan7603 NGL I think it would have been neat if Johns RDR1 hat and satchel had originally been Arthurs. I know for RDR1 players/returning players that would be dead give away but I still think it would have been neat and had more impact. Still, what we got is great.
@@StuartLugsden Yeah, I definitely find myself wishing that was the case too but Rockstar might've found it too on-the-nose and as you said, a dead giveaway of Arthur's fate. Plus it gives John more agency imo that he didn't get everything distinct about him from Arthur, but from one of his supporting characters in Abigail.
@@themadtitan7603 True. + I know it would have angered some RDR1 fanboys. Some are angry at the fact that John even wears Arthurs hat in that mission saying it makes Arthur his gay lover or an Arthur fanboy and that he relies on him too much ect. No it's for those 2 reasons above and they know it.
@@StuartLugsden Yeah, I genuinely don't know how they could come to either conclusions considering I thought the game made it fairly clear they had a brotherly sort of relationship birthed out of being Dutch and Hosea's first "sons" that got rocky once John left the gang but then later repaired once John earned Arthur's respect again.
Kieran: I would've gladly given my lif-
Bill: Hello Arthur!!!
And when you bring Jack back to camp and Kieran says: “Hi Jack!” He goes: “Im not supposed to talk to you!”
And I went like: YOU LITTLE PIECE OF SHHHHHHHH 😂
😂😂😂
The first detail with Arthurs hat, I'm actully a bit proud because I found it by myself and it was the first time I saw something that wasn't known or spoken about online.
But yet again it shows how beautiful this "living and breathing" open world is.
Same Is You In First Walktrough I Findet
Always great finding these things before seeing them online man, I totally get you.
But it's so obvious, like I don't know how not everyone knows about the hat.
The greatest game of all time! Its not simply a game but a life experience
For once i agree. This game helps make the argument that videogames can be an artform.
6:45 I like how they went through the effort of making John and Javier argue over who was gonna KO the guy but didn't bother giving an animation to Javier putting the bandana on, it just spawns on his face lmao
A fun fact about why the m1899 ( or the FN Browning M1900) is so thin... Its a single stack magazine, which allows for easy reloading, and a much thinner profile. It also lets you slide that puppy in a breast pocket and have it basically be invisible.
That Javier and John detail was so funny lol, wish they had more moments like that
it's so natural and normal, like a discussion between your workmates or something normal like that
I liked Kierans bond with Arthur. It was very nuanced, and in turn, pretty realistic. Arthur won't ever let go of Kieran's history as an O'Driscoll, inasmuch as he also won't let go of the fact that Kieran had saved his life. So they had a weird relationship where Arthur maintains gang hostility whilst also opening his friendship in a covert, macho way. Still busting his balls about being an O'Driscoll and scaring him, at the same time willing to take time to go fishing and help him gather ingredients for his love of horses. Even the gang appreciated him, being a facet for Dutch and Sadie's intentions of wiping out Colm towards the end despite the inherent risks.
I love the silent conversation John and Javier have like
"John I'm gonna kill him"
"Go right ahead my friend"
"Alright"
Keep em coming. I want RDR2 content until the end of time.
And for the looks of it, you will be getting it.
Found an unknown thing. In valentine sometimes a drunk challenges you to a duel. He usually passes out but if you go back to the saloon the bartender mentions it. He says the dudes name is Reginald Lewis and he challenged every gunbelt he saw in town. Have never seen/encountered this short conversation before, though it worth a mention
Yea I have gotten that to, did the barman call him a wet rag?
Was it Reginald Lewis that a letter was written to him? From someone who was kidnapped and kept in a shed chained, it mentions that he’s been there for months and that he was unsure if who was keeping him there was a slave owner, insane or both.
Everytime I think « he’s not gonna surprise me anymore, what could he possibly know that I don’t after all those hours of gameplay » and yet you still do, I actually knew about only two of them. Incredible game and incredible work as usual
i don't know if you've already covered this but when looking for john up in the mountains you can see that John had a custom saddle with his initials
kieran was such a great character, i wish we had more to do with him, more missions and that he be longer with us... the way they let him die was terrible, he didnt deserve to die like this 😔
He got a companion activity so he got more than most did
“Look at those balls”
Last words he ever said.
😂
Strange Man: "If you shoot out most of the spokes of a wheel--"
Me: "We can shoot out spokes on a wheel?"
The ship escape always puzzled me. Seemed so rushed . So much more could have been done . Then again if you consider the development of guarma you understand why
Guarma is nothing but a time sink to let time on the main island pass. Nothing else 🤙
For the first one, I'm not sure Arthur's father passed his hat to him the same way Arthur passed it on to John. You gotta remember his father abused him when he was child. So unless his father seeked for forgiveness before being hanged, the theory of passing the hat is wrong. I like to think, Arthur grabbed it after going through his stuff and kept it as a reminder of who not to be but it could be interpreted into many versions.
I always wondered why Arthur would even want to wear it? I mean he doesn't think to highly of his father after all.
@@BTipp24 some people take things that their parents owned out of spite, or a sense of being owed. His father never gave him anything, not even respect. So arthur felt he was owed at least a measly old hat to make his own.
Respect to my boy Kieran😞
*One Of The Most Amazing Details That Strange Man Didn't Know About Was Hands Down The Cure For Lumbago.*
for the father one i have a feeling arthur just kept it after his dad died. because from the sounds of it his father doesnt seem like the kind of guy to "pass on" his hat to his son
I'm convinced Strange Man is a R* employee
wow! what a unique and original comment that hasn't been posted a million times!
Not for this video. All that stuff was already published/found out.
I had the event with Kieran and Abigail but at the camp at Shady Belle instead, very interesting! I caught a line where if you talk to Kieran just before Blood Feuds he makes a passing comment about seeing something but figuring it’s nothing which was new to me
I should emphasize it’s before Short Walk in a Pretty town after Arthur escapes the O’Driscolls
THEORY: In Red Dead Redemption 3 you will play as Arthur's dad, and the hat that gets passed will become a symbol of the main character.
It amazes me that I am still constantly discovering new things in RDR II. I must be on my 20th run through of the game, having just recently got an Xbox X. The graphics truly are astounding at times, but all these details were built in from the beginning, for the last generation! I fear we will never see the like again. It would be hard to top even if we had the option of Arthur Morgan to play as again. But with the way the industry is going, I doubt anyone other than smaller indie companies would ever take the time to craft such a masterpiece like this again. Certainly Rockstar seems content to just take our money and give us embarrassingly bad, “remasters,” like the GTA trilogy, while all their creative leadership have moved on. Treasure this work of art, people. It may be the last of its kind.
It would have been a cool detail that the hat Arthur wears (and gives to John) is the same as John wears later on. Although one might think that John's new hat represents his new cowboy life but he keeps Arthur's hat as a reminiscent of his outlaw life.
the creative edgenuity with the editing and music is incredible every time
I got an ad for vaping delivering toxic metals into your lungs when Hosea got shot 😂
RDR 2 has a level of detail never seen before, always surprises us! What a masterpiece! ⭐💯
I'm so glad this game is still alive it's my favorite game ever and I also wanna thank you for still finding more and more things in the game I always get excited when I see a new video come out 💜
I like that Javier got to be the one to hit him. And he still got get his revenge line in about the dude calling him a greaser.
Great video, as always. I have always wondered whether there could be a mission where Arthur could ride gang members horses, because when we try to ride them, it says that we *still* can't ride them. That could be an idea for a video, just that! anyway, great work!
Sad how rockstar abandoned such a masterpiece
Watching John and Javier arguing is hilarious
no u

*sigh* "GrEaSeR hUh?!?!?!?!"
Strange Man continues to have by far the greatest RDR2 content you'll find anywhere. Thank you for all of your hard work in putting together these incredible videos.
Man I remember when I was playing Online and my friend was wondering why his gun is doing less damage and reloading slightly slower than it did before and I told him “dude clean your gun” and he said “wait your gun can get dirty in this game?” And I just started laughing and soon after he cleans his gun, he was relieved his gun is working like it’s suppose to and said “I didn’t know this game has a system where your gun wears down over time.” And I just started laughing again.
The tribute to Hosea was really well made, I think it also symbolises how Hosea carried the gang to reach far enough for them to take care of their own, especially Dutch
You forgot to mention that "Old Boy" is what Edgar Ross calls John in the mission "And you will know the truth". in RDR1 .
When does Ross call him Old Boy?
@@imadrifter I exaggerated. Ross calls him that in "And you will know the truth".
@@StuartLugsden still though thats a good catch 👍🏻
@@imadrifter Thanks.
YESSSS!!! Another video from the greatest
Here early, thanks for the videos strange man, my favourite red dead UA-cam channel 😌
Wow I never thought I’d see a Col. Henry Blake reference
my fav youtube rdr2 , please keep doing rdr2 video :D
the delivery on the "scar face" comment has me laughing so hard
Can we just appreciate how many details this game has?
Fantastic informative as always, love watching these videos, great game, shame rockstar want to actively kill it off, after the main game is done, but you and a few others, try your hardest to keep the game alive and it's much appreciated, still the best game ever made
Strange man is secretly a rockstar worker
Got DAMN! This many years later and you're STILL finding stuff! I love this channel! Can't wait till the next rdr comes out!
John’s alias of Jim Milton is a reference to George Milton from Of Mice and Men. The settings of the beginning of the epilogue and the book are also very similar.
I always thought he just remembered Andrew Milton and wanted to keep his initials the same to make paperwork easier
I knew about Lyle's hat early on. I thought that was common knowledge. I interpreted the exchange as a 'death omen'. Whoever wears the hat is chosen to die.
Another little detail I was very impressed by was when you visit Watson Cabin, you have 3 different encounters.
First with the older lady mistaking you for a courier or delivery person (don’t kill her afterwards), secondly you encounter her hostile sons (again, don’t kill her, just her sons) and on the third visit to Watson Cabin, you can discover a corpse in the bed; allowing Arthur/John to pull back the duvet to discover her.
This game continues to blow me away, 4 years later and I’m still discovering new things
Hey I have investigated the ikz missing girl and I have found something creepy so basically the store in varn horn has the ikz chest right? But. Sometimes you can hear footsteps or floor squeaking or find a dog that is looking at the second floor and trying to get someone's attention. It might be the missing girl there that the store owner kid napped her. Go check it yourself that's just mine theory.
Bru
I've noticed today while galloping first person on my horse, if you look up at the sky the galloping will sound muffled and distant. And if you look down to the ground it will sound like it's right next to you
Always great content. Can you do an update on the unsolved mysterious
Arthur's dad passes his hat onto Arthur who passes his hat onto John who proceeds to just get rid of it because we never see it again
Nothing feels more happy than strange man uploading video
Hey, I think I found a new undead nightmare Easter egg inside shady belle mansion chap 4. Enter the house at night go inside the small room underneath the staircase, when you do Arthur will look like a undead nightmare character. Try it out for yourself!
The tackle shop reference made me so happy. Been a MASH fan since I was a kid.
Strange Man! Your work and videos got a shout out and made it in a video done by Watculture Gaming! Called "10 Red Dead Redemption 2 NPCs With Disturbing Secrets" I am happy to see your work get acknowledgment I have loved your content since the start! It's awesome!
This is such an amazing game I have played it through several times and I’m still loving it 😊 and your videos are awesome 🤩 I take what you say as the best truth from what I’ve seen keep making these please 🙏🥰❤️🥰
I love torching a wagon and getting it burnt just right and sometimes it loses a wheel and runs like a dream
Dead game for Take2..
Alive for the comm.
Dead to the braindead suits at Rockstar and Take 2 but not us.
Great content 😃
Hey strange man I’ve been watching your videos for sometime now and just wanted to tell you your vids are great and you put so much work and effort into them so thank you for the enjoyment I support u all the way 💯 😊
The first detail with the hat makes me think how awesome it'd be to play as Arthur's father in rdr3 and see Arthur's youth in the game.
The reference to Antenor reminded me that most of the core gang members are analogues for characters from the Iliad:
* Arthur = Achilles
* Dutch = Odysseus
* Hosea = Nestor
* Micah = Tersites
* John = Patroklos
* Bill = Ajax
* Charles = Hector
* Lenny = Protesilaos
* Sadies = Pentesilea
I'd argue that Arthur is Odysseus not Dutch.
@@StuartLugsden Yeah, I think Dutch would fit more with the character of Agamemnon
@@StuartLugsden I'm not very familiar with Iliad but if you don't mind, why do you think it is that Arthur is more like Odysseus and not Dutch. Genuinely curious.
@@StuartLugsden Fair position, though I'd argue that Odysseus in the Ilias and in the Odyssey are quite different people in terms of how the supposedly same man is characterized in those two works.
In my assessment Odysseus is way more likable in the Odyssey, based on the way, he is portrayed in this work, than in the Iliad.
In the Iliad Odysseus appears as a man, who is slick and ressourceful, highly cunning and crafty in a way that slightly tilts towards the negtaive in its disposition (shiftiness). And of course he is a man, who ALWAYS HAS A PLAN to overcome the problems he and his comrades in arms are confronted with....so naturally that made me think of Dutch.
Arthur, the strongest fighter of the Van der Linde Gang, who is almost invincible and only taken out by a tiny, almost invisible weakness (a tiny chink in his proverbial armour), i.e. his tuberculosis infection that kills him from the inside, while he survived hundreds of fights of people shooting at him etc., reminded me of Achilles, the strongest warrior in the Trojan War, who is invulnerable to all attacks lobed against him, but is eventually taken out, 'because one tiny spot on his body is susceptible to attacks....
@@themadtitan7603 I'm not that familiar with it all but heres what I do know and why I think Arthur can him can be compared. Odysseus was known for his intellectual brilliance, guile, versatility, for being the rightful king of Ithaca and he was willing to risk his life to keep his people safe.
Arthur is smart person, he's can be guile when he needs to be, he's got many skills and he was a great leader and this from a certain point of view makes him the true leader of the Van Der Linde Gang. He also did everything he could to protect his people. They are similar.
the henry blake thing blew my mind . . .never thought about it!
When he mentions Saratoga referring to Saratoga Race Course in NY opened in 1863. My hometown!
I love me some StrangeMan... this game has been out for years and he never fails to show me new details I can go explore and experience myself.... I tell all my friends about this channel 🤘
I feel like the ship also signifies Dutch drifting off the the right path for the gang and then the gang getting wrecked and destroyed, with the few remaining trying to survive together (Marstons, uncle, Charles and sadie) and get to their goal (putting Micah in his place).
The moment you showed "H. Blake," I thought "haha, like Henry Blake." Then lo and behold. Always something new to discover. (A side fact: I'm still too scared to return to the Strange Man/painter house and find out what happens on subsequent visits--I know there's something, but I'm not spoilered on it. But something about that place clicks the "run away, run far, run right now" instinct in my brain. I'm reminded about it every time I see the intro :) )
I noticed the Atenor one because I've actually read the Iliad in high school but didn't know it referenced Hosea.
One my favourite things to do to wagon drivers is to pursue them and shoot the spokes until the wheels fall off. They go absolutely flying!
I love Javier. And I love that he gets the justified revenge for the racial slur.
I was just watching MASH before I started watching this video
Every day I wake up with....
A coffee ??
Nope. A new video of insane details found in RDR2.
I only knew about 2 of these details
Never ceases to amazing me 😊
2:28 even the physic when the wheel falls off. Jeez. This game is bloody 5 years old! I know about the wheel came off but didn't know the spinny thingy like that.
Sure I'm late to the show but started my 2nd play through and there is a pamphlet you can pick up when you talk to Downes. Missed it my 1st play through. After the bar fight with Tommy, the gunsmith will reference it including saying the Can-Can line dance is something he never thought he'd see. So easy to miss all these little details...
there’s still so many wonders of this game, its so cool
I love your videos man. it's amazing you catch these details.
Hey Strange Man. A detail I noticed, and never seen this mentionned anywhere, is about Sadie Adler. One year after discovering RDR2, I saw an old (1971) western movie on TV, and the main character is clearly an inspiration for Sadie Adler for me. The plot is also strongly similar: a woman lives with her husband alone in a tiny ranch (just like Sadie). 3 nasty men come and shoot the husband (like Sadie's husband and O'Driscolls) before r*pe the woman (this part isn't mentionned openly in the game, but it was confirmed my a lot of clues along the game and by the voice actress herself, and this movie could confirm it too). After this, the men burn the ranch (like Sadie's ranch, even if in the game the ranch burns because of Micah).
Living in her trauma, the woman decides to get revenge and meet a man (nicer than the first ones) who learn to her how to use a shotgun. At the end she became a badass and get her revenge properly, just like... you know.
The film's title is: Hannie Caulder (notice how it sound like Sadie Adler = Hannie/Sadie and Caulder/Adler). And Hannie truly looks like Sadie (hair, hat, face, etc).
Maybe it was confirmed for a while, and if it's the case it would be great for me. The movie is quite old and a bit violent and disturbing (because of the r*p* scene).
Thanks for reading, and sorry for the mistakes.
How many more mysteries exist in this game? The world may never know
Tbf, this series is more about little details or references that we might've not known about than mysteries like Strange Man's other videos.
I couldn’t explain why I really liked John’s horse. This video shocked me on accuracy. War horse. I have that game on Series X. Thanks Strange Man🤠
Ive never heard that Abigail Kieran interaction…….Damn I miss him one of the purest souls in the game just got purer.
Genuinely love Kieran. He didn't have to be kind to anyone in that camp after the treatment he got from them, but seeing him care so much about a child (one that can throw rocks at him depending on the events you get), is just so nice.
i absolutely love your details in RdR2.
Keep up the good work! Well take care about the views ;)
The reference regarding Hosea and the Antenor boat is very interesting
Strange man works for rockstar
I just found a secret cutscene. It’s in ch 3 when u rob a stage with Sean and Mary Beth. Once one of the guards takes Mary Beth hostage u have to wait till he almost killed her. U have to be aiming at him while the cutscene starts. Normally he’ll just kill Mary Beth, but if u shoot him while ur reticle was on him you’ll get a close up of Mary Beth and Arthur says it was a close one or something like that to her. It’s not a lot but I’ve never seen it before
The amazing way the broken wheel broke off and hit the ground starting a circular wobbling motion until it stopped.. a very much amazing realistic detail. Literally a fucking detail inside another detail. This is Craziest game to ever be released. Take my god damn money rockstar. Just take it.
i actually just found out today that you could break a wheel, i was trying to do stunts and i was in first person so i don’t know what happened exactly but the horse was fine but my wagon had one wheel completely off just still spinning and the other looked like it went through a 2 foot pothole lol.
I always tell my friends to clean their weapons cause I can hear they are dirty lol
Strange man is literally a strange man, that’s why he knows everything.
A few additional details for your next video, depending on what type of ammo you’re using, you can make out the details by going into photo mode. Example, split point reviver round rounds look different from normal ammunition.
Fire will burn the leaves off of small trees and shrubs and chars wood
Arrows, throwing knives and tomahawks will stick in wood and dirt, but will bounce off of hard surfaces.
3 years playing this game and I didn't know that the wheel spokes break if you shoot them
