- "Jersey Shore" star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino and his wife saved their young son from choking to death. Home surveillance video captured their 2-year-old son choking on his dinner. Sorrentino started patting his son on the back as his wife grabbed an anti-choking suction device from the kitchen. Thankfully, his son was saved. Sorrentino says it was the scariest moment of his life. Inside Edition’s Steven Fabian has more.
The wife’s name is Lauren btw, since they didn’t bother to say it once even though she was the one who got it out…
They also failed to mention the name of the device used. Leave it to inside edition to run a news story and leave out all the important information.😂😂😂
@@RoughRaiders13 Which is also weird bc they literally have multiple videos talking about the life vac. They even interviewed the founder lol
"And wife" she have a name
But they did supply the expert though!
@@RoughRaiders13yeah I'm surprised they didn't promote the product. I ordered 2 life vacs off Ebay because they were double on Amazon. My grandson started choking on a piece of candy in the car and thankfully my wife is medically trained but I plan to order more. I think they make great gifts you hope you'll never need.
props to that mom, she was so calm under that stresful situation.
What you mean? Mike didn’t look stressed
What you thought she was gonna cuss at the father or something
Why did they feed a baby that choking hazard of a food in the first place? Is the situation still pilled up when they made that decision? 🤷♂️
Coz she knows how to handle it.
Grammar please…
In his earlier days Mike was so self-absorbed into himself. Now he's a good-natured man and father.
One day, his son will get to watch his father on Jersey Shore. 🤭
What is patting him on the back going to do? Ever hear of the Heimlich maneuver? "The Situation" is a complete rockhead.
The child is pretty small, so the Heimlich might cause more injury (the father's fist is practically the size of the child's stomach). He probably meant to thrust his hand on the back like how you would clear a blockage in a choking infant. But... he does not have the angle right at all. Should have had the boy facedown at an slight angle pointing downward at the ground and let gravity help while applying the thrusts on the back.
Yeah thats actually pretty hopeful
You would be too if all of a sudden you became rich and famous
Lifevac device, every parent should have one in their home.
Is LifeVac good for adults too?
@@jairbear619 yes, for all ages. They come with different sizes to attach for different uses.
@@brisvegas859 Where can I buy them?
@@jairbear619 it’s not for any particular age…
@@jairbear619yes it does! There was another story on the news about a woman whose life was saved with that. It’s also on UA-cam.
That was the chillest mom EVER!
Such a desperate situation. I'm glad the baby is okay.
Every parent should own this device. It has saved thousands of children’s lives in the short period of time it’s existed, the inventor is a true genius
Glad little man is ok & they didn't panic .I purchased the life vac I have one in my kitchen & My car never know when this device will come in handy
That is such a great device to have.
I did too
Same here. The video on here where the guy in the restaurant ran to his car to get his and saved the baby is what prompted me to buy one.
I got a lifevac the moment we got a new roommate who has a kid. I’m not taking any chances.
That is so wonderful of you
I’m proud of you for being such a responsible roomie! Hopefully you never need to use it but it’s such a handy thing to have in case you do.
Glad they were able to save their son and that he’s doing good.
It is so scary. Saved my 5 yr old grandson from choking on a red striped hard candy given to him at a party, unbeknownst to his mom & I. You could see the panic in his eyes as he could not take in air. Flipped him upside down and smacked his back hard. Nothing, did it again, wacking harder. It popped out. So glad he was near us when it happened.
Glad your grandson is doing better, sorry you have to go through that
so sorry! glad your grandson is okay! I was at a hotel at age 7 with my pregnant mom and my dad. While walking to our hotel room I popped a stripped red candy in my mouth and all I remember is not breathing and feeling it was my final moments until my dad seen and did the hemlock and saved my life. My mom was pregnant and couldn’t do anything. Last week my son and I were at the store and he wanted those candies and sadly told him no. Scariest thing!
Mike moved so fast he had no thought but get over there impressive
Parent reflexes really do exist. There’s an instinct deep inside a person that just laser-focuses on their kid, assuming they have a kid of course.
He actually walked over pretty slow lol
The mom kept her cool perfect this is my worst fear ever so wow ..
We went to a restaurant, and my son was choking while eating, see him gagging and his eyes started have tears. I immediately go behind him and started doing Heinrich maneuver. Did 2-3x. And the meat came out from his mouth. Thank God🙏. Thank God that the little boy is ok. Great job mum!
props to that dad, he was so calm under that stressful situation.
My kid choked once and couldn't breathe, as he was starting to turn blue (few months old at the time, alone at home with dad, me,) I turned him upside-down, holding him by the hips and SHOOK him downwards pretty hard, like a ketchup bottle, and out plopped the food that was stuck. Biggest fright of my life, I cried for days after that because I gave him a bite a bit too big and nearly killed him. I pray you never have to experience this as a parent, but if you do and don't know what to do, remember, ketchup bottle. He's turning 9 soon. Best gift God could ever give me.
The moment I found out that the “Life Vac” was a thing, I bought one. What an amazing device
Wow glad he’s ok. Thanks for the parents being there for him
Technically, he was not actually choking. When choking, no sounds can be made. He might have had food in his windpipe but not enough to stop him from breathing or making noises. Either way glad he's okay!
I’ll be honest. I grew up in Toms River which borders Seaside Heights where Jersey Shore was filmed. When I was younger my friends and I would go out and see the camera crew & cast and roll our eyes in second hand embarrassment but truth be told as the years went on and as I grew up I came to respect the maturity level most of the cast achieved especially Mike. I’m very very glad he’s come as far as he has and I wish him & his family nothing but happiness to come! Best of luck to all of them!
Never liked Jersey shore but I'm glad he was able to save his son from choking.
What's the state got do do with the little boy choking?
Same here. 🙏
SHE. The wife saved him.
@@barbaranymiel3089
I think the person was talking about the TV show Jersey Shore. Not the actual place. But I could be wrong 🤷♀️🤷♀️
@@budredhead00twitchyHe was the first one to react and actually take action. The mom had the calmness to her to grab the device so this was a team effort here.
But parents can and will do things they or anybody else wouldn't think they could when it involves their child
They’re really good parents, I’m so glad the little one is okay! 🙏🏻
Amazing work mom and dad 👍
Such a panic situation glad the little boy is better now. More people should learn these techniques to save their friends/family. 😢 pray 🤲
Im so happy he is ok. My heart was racing.
No it wasn't
One of the most scariest situations ever! Well done parents🫶🏼
So glad they showed the demonstration because I was about to teach it. It should be taught standard at delivery along with cpr
They were both so incredibly calm!
Thank goodness things turned out well. Bless that family. ❤
Good Job Mike and Mother !!!!! 😢
damn kudo to the parents, they both knew their roles and did them perfectly. amazing
Now that's a real situation right there!
Thank goodness, the wife was there to save the child. I don’t think Mike would’ve been able to do it by himself.
Lol why
He was the first one to react and actually take action. The mom had the calmness to her to grab the device so this was a team effort here.
But parents can and will do things they or anybody else wouldn't think they could when it involves their child..
@@BAZmma have to hit harder than you want to, little back pats don't do anything
@@BAZmma, because he was doing it all wrong.
Mike showed a good example of what not to do. Don’t pat them on the back in the upright position.
Great job both!!!!
Mike I’m glad you all had the device. Harder back blows. You need to go over the technique of CPR.
agreed, surprised the expert didn't mention that, the demo was pretty bad too. could have demonstrated the force required on his own thigh
Such beautiful parents and I’m so glad Romeo is doing well and is safe.
Mom has ice water in her veins. 👏👏to both parents for acting quickly n calmly
Oh I'm sorry you guys went through that thank God he's okay
I'm glad the child is doing okay and well
Good job parents.
This is a device that everyone should have. I’ve seen its say people over and over.
I’m glad that they acted so fast, but it sounds like the kid shouldn’t have been eating that kind of food in the first place.
Met him years ago he’s a good human
We got a Situation on our hands!!!
So glad their son is okay 🙏
Great Job Mike! Proud of you brother
Why did they feed him that choking hazard of a food in the first place? Is Mike still pilled up or something? 🤷♂️
@@cormacthem8406wow, what a nasty thing to say about someone who has worked on their sobriety for over two decades. calm tf down please.
That's crazy! such a brave man!
hi
What about the mom?
Well yes, I suppose, but he was quick to react to the situation, as well as the mum@@saraswinerton7202
Super chill of her 😮
Thank god Mike handled the situation like a pro
I remember inhaling kool aid at a friends on accident because I laughed so hard when I was drinking it. A ton of it went into my lungs and it completely burned and I couldn't breathe or speak. I was 15 and terrified....cant imagine what this little baby was feeling. Im so glad he's okay. I dont want kids myself but that doesn't lesson the love I have for children.. that device is absolutely brilliant. Didnt even know it existed.
Now that's a situation!..... I'm glad he's ok.
Im so glad they baby is ok
I can’t even count how many times I saved both my kids choking. It’s scary
😅 another lifevac commercial, I swear inside edition must receive a commission on sales
This is the third time I’ve seen a story involving that device
it bis a life saving device i plan to buy one soon
I personally think they should show all the stories that they can on this and the lives that it saves. I would have never known the product even existed had it not been for stories like this 🤷♀️🤷♀️
Amazing device
love how everything needs to become content.
Been there. I had to do this for my son. There is nothing in this world that has frightened me like seeing my son’s lips turn blue and seeing skin turn pale. I can only imagine their anxiety after that. Props and I’m glad the baby is okay.
Well I'm sold. One of my biggest fears as a parent is choking and drowning.
God Bless. ❤
The kid was not chocking, he was making sound. In these situations, the parents making a big deal over it can make the situation worst. I’m surprised the reporters didn’t point this out.
He may not be the Best comedian, but looks like he's a good dad.
My little brother choked on a Lego once. My dad threw us in the back of his truck and sped to the hospital. A cop tried to pull him over on the way but my dad kept driving until he got to the emergency room and immediately grabbed my brother and ran inside. The cop followed us, realized what was happening, and didn’t give him a ticket thankfully. My brother was okay. This was in the mid-90s so the lifevac wasn’t a thing yet, but nowadays I think every parent should have one.
The parents made a mistake with the size of those foods for the kid.
Great job Mike, great job
Patting on the back causes vibration to reduce friction (stuck object loosens). Hold the child upside down if you want to use gravity to bring it down onto the floor instead of into the lung or stomach (if it fits).
My Grandpa saved my Dad from choking on a watermelon pickle (age six or seven) by grabbing his ankles and holding him upside down. Clearly, this will depend on size and strength. For adults, they need to bend their upper body forward and head downward as much as possible. The thrust into the diaphragm can be done by a choking adult by themselves over the back of a chair in some cases. Main point: patting on the back while child is upright may not help.
Good job, mom!!!
You see the way his mom hugs him after the situation is over? I feel like she was SO grateful to be able to hug him right then. Life comes at you fast, people.
He's from that obnoxious Jersey Shore show from 20 yrs ago? 😮
Time does change
Yes gnocchi is adult food. Sorry kids. Not sorry. Pass the gnocchi 😅
Mike's kid choking on pasta is the ultimate betrayal.
My sister worked in a preschool and said they weren’t allowed to feed the children round or tubular food. Meatballs had to be ground and hot dogs had to be sliced into small pieces. Unappetizing, but safer nonetheless. Also the children weren’t allowed to play with toys smaller than their fists, for obvious reasons.
Don’t pat the back when someone is choking u can enlarge the item that’s stuck
You need to interview the mom. What a gangsta! 👍
I like the open floor plan.
Omg! 😢
How come this guy doesn’t know a simple life saving technique??
I am glad mom and dad were by his side and knew what to do
I definitely need to get one
I wish I knew about that when my son was little. He choked on Ramen noodles & it took 3 ppl to finally get it out of him while I ran around screaming and crying.

Na-Ah Mrs. Norvill, you ain't slick this time! 😆
Children can not control their swollowing until the age of 5.
Mom was so calm, cool and collected!!!
So this is how to stop choking
1. Stop Talking while eating.
2. Don't eat too fast
thats a great ad
Respect..Mike your a good dad bro
*YAY!!!*
0:29 how do these ppl not see or hear this sweet lil, giant spider?
Mike needs to learn cpr. If you can drink and party, you can take a class. Shout out to Lauren for her quick thinking. ❤
That’s how I almost died as a child. My mom gave me a black olive and the moment I went to eat it my brother slammed into me and I inhaled. My mom said when she heard no screaming from the slam I took she looked out the door and saw me. She said she tried everything and didn’t realize how far gone I was until she a decade later saw an episode of rescue 911. She said my arms and wrists were stiff and bending in weird positions my legs did the same. She lucky had very long nails and in a last ditch effort she shoved her fingers down my throat and was able to spear the olive and pull it out. It did damage my throat so now I don’t have the flap in there to close my throat to my stomach so I get bad acid reflux in my throat but she saved me so that’s all that matters. Unfortunately 5 years later she started hating be because she blamed my adoption as why my dad left so she left me to my own devices like her sending me out to play everyday at 6 years old I’m beat infested woods (she kept my brother inside.) She even stood there watching me drowning and had my step father not saved me she would have let me die. She I truly believe regrets saving me from the olive that day. I still and always loved her even though it hurt so bad because I as a child couldn’t understand why she hated me so much but loved my brother so unconditionally.
A kid chokes on food every 5 days? They should pay more attention to that kid and teach him how to chew..
A kid chokes every 5 days... not THIS kid chokes every 5 days...
Lifevac does it again! Freaking amazing product.
Is this horrible? Yes.
Is it also the *most* Italian thing I've ever seen? Yes.
Poor little guy I don't blame him for crying once he could breathe, he must've been so scared!
What is that device?
Yeah this happened to me once and then I took CPR and learned what to do ..way to go Lauren!! Mom's just know
i have a life vac and i hope i never need it
what a situation...
That demonstration kid was very confused lol
This new trend of lead weaning, and giving infant, and toddlers huge peices of food, is so dangerous.
The situation save the situation
