This scene proves that the reason why everyone's life sucks in the Red Dwarf universe. If Arnold Rimmer had been held back that year and strode to become Ace everyone's life would have been much better. Ace is quite the guy; Arnold is quite the Smeghead.
Taramosalata is a Greek and Turkish meze; is traditionally made from taramas, the salted and cured roe of the cod or the carp, though blends based on other forms of fish roe have become more common. The roe is mixed with either bread crumbs or mashed potato, and lemon juice, vinegar and olive oil. It is usually eaten as a dip, with bread and/or raw vegetables. The colour can vary from creamy beige to pink, depending on the type of roe used. Eaten during Easter traditionally. -Wikipedia
It's strange to think that this is the version of Rimmer that technically failed, and yet because he did, you have someone completely different. He doesn't look down on anyone, nor does he want to suck up towards higher ups.
He's almost empathetic and sympathetic if we knew a lot but you just get that moral through failure, you see potential in anyone, if you believe in them as well as yourself. That's Goalpost Head's shortcomings. He was never empathetic nor sympathetic. When he failed, it was everyone's fault, not his.
