The best scene ever, from the best comedy ever...just a timeless masterpiece. Everyone played their part, but Rimsy was just sheer impeccable placidness.
About 20 years ago after watching every episode of Red Dwarf I concluded that this was the best scene in the best episode. Not one to start with though.
How I miss Red Dwarf. I would eagerly wait for each episode and can't remember a single time I was ever disappointed. It was, by far, the best comedic Sci-Fi show ever and the only other one that came close was "Paul".

Red Dwarf never got better than this. Obviously, great episodes were made but, in terms of wall to wall humour and scares and the characterisation. Chris Barrie is priceless. Psirens, from series 6, was a great episode though - it gets underrated but there are loads of great lines in it and it's more of a worthy kind of sequel than series 6's Polymorph II was.
Nice RD appreciation. Also wannna throw Ace Rimmer into the mix. Dimension Jump was such a classic, ACE Rimmer is the only character that can trump Pacifist Arn, but it is very close lol

What i like about this clip is that they're the same characters through a different lens. Cat is still wasting his life with addiction (fashion, booze) barely paying attention Lister is still willing to fight, but his willingness to self sacrifice to save others has become pure self destructive. Kryten is still analytical but pragmatic, just willing to throw humans under the bus. And Rimmer is still cowardly and trying to assert his silly opinion, but now he dresses it up as "noble" Such minor changes to character yet significant results!
This is one of the most memorable clips because of how perfectly Chris Barrie plays his peace loving activist character! Superb acting.
