Grew up with airboats, but never seen on side of a hill, through the trees, past grandma's house. Mind blown. Thank you for out of box show of an airboat. Be safe. Be well.
My dad had a small plane that caught fire and his friend took the engine to make a windjammer with it. It was basically what you have and he used it in the winter to serve hard to access islands with bad ice conditions. That one had teflon strips on the bottom to keep it moving.
Hydrocopter is the name. Widely (but perhaps not that numerous) used on ice in the archipelagos/coastal regions of Northern Europe, since 70-80 years back. A cheaper alternative to the hoovercrafts that authorities such as the Coast Guard use.
What a Wild Fun Ride! When I was a young girl we had a curved door off of an old refrigerator that we hooked up to the back of our truck. Dad would give us rides on the door in the snow. You guys having a Blast with the airboat in the snow brought back all those wonderful memories Thank you. Be Happy 🤣 Safe and Healthy Everyone 💞
Looks like a blast. I’m a native Floridian and have owned about a dozen airboats over my lifetime. I would highly recommend a 12’-14’ with an aircraft engine for what your doing 6 cylinder 0540 is one of my favorites.
Never a dull moment with this group. Always getting into something and who would have known that you could have so much fun on an airboat in the freaking snow? Pretty cool.
Also, there is no need to wax the bottom of the Teflon. You can make an injector spray kit with a auxiliary tank that sprays in the front of Bow and allows it to slide underneath lubricating the Teflon. I'm sure there is some type of soap or lubricate that won't freeze for up north
The Clay slurry used for ground boring machines is the best thing! It needs tank agitation to keep it from settling in the though. It is biodegradable, and about the only thing you won't get in trouble for spraying on the environment.
When you decide to upgrade your airboat, take a look at the quad engine platforms from somewhere like Diamondback or Oilfield Marine Contractors. They're the HETs of shallow water. I saw a 16'x45' platform with a 10,000lbs crane in use while fishing in southern Louisiana that had a combined engine output of nearly 2400hp.
Diamondback is literally around the corner and down the street from me. (you have to drive past Keltec 😉) They crank out some boats. Panther Airboats is also here in town. Both make quality stuff.
@@Randyluck1Nice! That would be a cool place to check out. The airboat I saw, or "Air Barge" as they call it, was the OM 201 from Oilfield Marine. It took a bit of googling to figure that out but I happened to come across Diamondback while researching. No matter which company, I'd love to just get a chance to ride on their massive platforms.
When I was a kid growing up in Minnesota I always drew air craft powered snow machines as a dream build. The Air Boat is cool and should stay as is. An air powered tri ski with maybe a drop track assisted reverse up date on the Polaris design would be cool though.
I lived in Minnesota, up near Lake of the Woods when I was little, late 1960’s. My dad had a wind sleigh, which was essentially a wrecked airplane turned around backwards with a pusher prop. Had 3 huge skis on it. Was faster than snot but when it got stuck was really a pain to get unstuck. But was sure a fun thing to ride in. And probably really dangerous!

They had numerous noise complaints about it. You could hear him at 5 miles away (lakes length). It was insane! Have fun with it!
The secret to running carbs at different altitudes is to just set up 2 or 3 different complete carbs, all of the same model, and then just swap the whole unit depending on what altitude you're going to be at. Way easier and faster than messing with pulling bowls and metering blocks to mess with jets and/or power valves
Even better then that I think he’d be better off to get a sniper efi throttle body system from Holley. Throw some O2’s in the headers and it’ll learn for altitude

Build a brake system; Like an anchor on a boat but you could have a pole was a drag on it or your push it push up on it would leverage it to lower down to the ground to give you some added friction.
Over here in michigan people use air boats in the winter to get to their private islands off lake St. Clair. Fun fact, they typically build these in Florida and come stock without a thermostat so make sure there's one put in for winter use or it will never warm up and slowly ruin the motor.

Kevlar on the bottom works well. before you up the horse power do not over cam it, if the engine shakes at idle it will destroy the gear box, my brother destroyed several gear boxes before he backed down the cam

Try this again! Didn't go through last time! For the stopping capabilities you should make the props a reversible pitch like on other planes and boats! Use the power of what you already have instead of adding more weight! As for the improvement to steering Hans's idea of a disk would be better than skiis that could potentially catch an edge while you're being crazy and flip the boat due to a sudden turn! If you do use skiis you need to think about the rounded up edges like the acrobatic skiis have causing less sudden drag. I have plenty more knowledge should you be interested! I've been wanting to get an air boat to get to my water access property during freeze up and thaw. Hopefully I can find one for a decent price one day. Throw some efi on that 502 and see how it does.
Ok I've come up with the best idea. Buy yourself a scrap Cessna 206 Fuselage and high-time IO-520 engine (300HP, turbochargeable). Get some aircraft skis for it. Then - get yourself a composite 3-blade prop with reverse thrust (mcfarlane aviation). You now have a 6-seater prop rocket with reverse/braking.

If you are never going to put it back in the water definitely add heavy-duty skis in the front for steering and I still feel that it would be pretty cool if you add a truck cab in the front for heating to keep warm out of the outside winter cold

It looks like so much frozen fun. I agree that waxing it should help it go faster and smoother. I enjoyed watching the scenery go by; like being on a tour without getting the frostbite on the face.
I’d fly all the way from New Zealand just to experience a day with you guys like this 😂 I’ve never wanted to do something so bad before but this i want to do 😂
You guys keep getting more and more crazy, in a good way. Always wanted to see one of those in the snow, and now I have. Honestly though I don't think a steering ski set will do the boat justice. I only see more problems adapting a steering ski set to the boat. Then again you could probably figure out a way to fab one out that wouldn't cause the boat part to loose strength. Work it into your engine steering handle maybe. Anyway had a blast. 🥳🥳😛

I would like to make a suggestion: You could use Teflon on the bottom and to steer it, mainly in an emergency, a decelerator like a bull dozer. I was thinking a paddle or a spike on each side that the fan and boat could pivot around. It would accomplish both steering and braking. This would require the least amount of modification. I must say this is a great idea guys and I thoroughly enjoyed the video except for that tinge of jealousy. LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK
Dave I think bush plane skiis would be good for that thing. Less surface area less friction but brakes are needed for sure. Great idea bro. Looked like a bunch of fun.
He literally lied to our face and told us that it wasn't a scam and that we should put our money in the established titles thing and then he defended it like 20 different ways you can't just ignore that or act like it didn't happen

It looks like so much frozen fun. I agree that waxing it should help it go faster and smoother. I enjoyed watching the scenery go by; like being on a tour without getting the frostbite on the face.
I think it going smoother because of the Metal of the boat was cooling down
I’d fly all the way from New Zealand just to experience a day with you guys like this 😂 I’ve never wanted to do something so bad before but this i want to do 😂
Keep playing those video games kid, there is much better things in life than meeting these people who scam their fans.
@@fresky5370 tf? Lmao
@@fresky5370 don’t worry people will keep well clear of you😮😊😂😂
Who needs a cup holder when you’ve got a friend like Dave
Love it! I hate snow & cold but love watching you guys! MAGA
You guys have more fun than anyone I know. Love watching your blogs.
if you are waiting for an ET Update this is the wrong video for you.
They are slowly censoring out the comments regarding their scam affiliation. Dirtbags.
Grow up
@@carterclaire8862 you first little boy.
That is a INSANE idea to go out and do. Thats just nuts Dave... Wow. I wanna see this in person. Hell i WANT to experience this in person!!!
This is how to move on after a scam, right, great work in educating the young and old viewers.
very cool! looks like so much fun 😂 I am blown away by how well that did uphill in the trees 😊
I just hope we get an explanation about et, before or after the contract with them, cause that really wasn't it
I agree, Kind of weird that they haven't addressed it yet even after the comment section in the last video.
Could you elaborate on this for me, not really sure what you’re talking about
@@modernprosperity7798 Yeah. They basically promoted a scam two videos ago. They said they'd prove or disprove everything and ended up not doing anything really except promoting it in a weird way, and they haven't said anything after. So it's really disappointing and gives them a bad look for obvious reasons
Why does everyone care about the ET ad so much. Guys its a commercial, get over it.
Answer your phone your extended car warranty needs to be extended 😂 I doubt you even bought anything and I read before I pay so I got exactly what I paid for y'all need to drop it🙏 Have a blessed day sir🙏
We need more snow videos they are the best.
Put a massive grin on my face. You guys have a great job and great life
I can’t believe we get that much entertainment for free!!! Awesome video quality and editing.
BIG FUN ,and I always thought boating was a summer sport and I kinda thought you needed a body of water like a lake or the ocean Awesome thanks for the thinking out side of the box what a great video
STILL WAITING FOR THE ESTABLISHED TITLES APOLOGY VIDEO
Yea not going to let that established titles video get swept under the rug
Was definitely entertaining to watch and hilarious, but it would be alot more entertaining if I could be there doing it with you guys of course, hopefully one day even without the airboat I'd even love to just come on a recovery with you guys or just hang out up at the cabin, on the bucket list for sure
Well good luck the only way that would happen is if you have alot of money and then more money lol or you hv something Dave really wants and you make that part of the deal lol I'm just being honest..
True green. Nice place in the snow. Pretty
Holy smokes you guys are creative! I watch your videos regularly. Sitting around waiting for a double lung transplant. I can honestly say I've not laughed that much in a long time @ Diesel Dave's snowbeard!! If I lived by you I'd be begging for a ride!
did established titles pay for this video too
Cool air boat but I wish you guys would make more sellout videos!!!
Their dignity apparently had a price, and it must have been a lot considering they're taking the silence/sweep under the rug approach. Keep removing all the comments and like-boosting others to make the Top Comments look good, the internet doesn't forget.
Why isn’t no one talking about the scam he promoted ?
They are… those comments are getting deleted
Established titles giving out snow plots now too huh?
He literally lied to our face and told us that it wasn't a scam and that we should put our money in the established titles thing and then he defended it like 20 different ways you can't just ignore that or act like it didn't happen
Don't worry they are doing skids in airboat canoes now. Everyone has forgotten about the scam advertising/investigation 🤣. Boat slides bro 🤣🤣🤣
Next year there will be tons of airboats in snowy areas thanks to this video, can't wait for it
You guys! I did not want that to end! I enjoyed that so very much, very cool. Probably one of my favorite videos of yours. WOW
I'm still waiting for a response video to the scam they wasn't a scam
so, you are going to let the ET scam just slip under the radar.....
Wait so he seriously hasn't addressed the Established Titles BS? Completely losing credibility here. Come on.
Ok, that was fun!! Thanks for the fun in the snow while I was warm and cozy on my couch!
Might be worth a try, but the wax might only last about 30 seconds. Would recommend a cage as well unless the fan cage can support the weight.
