On the 80s hover crafts were supposed to be the big thing . But people realized it's cheaper and easier to do this instead.if you can go though bogs and mud with it Should be no problem going across frozen ice and snow .
Back in the late 90s I have my boat built by stumpjumper up in Lake Panasoffkee. He also had a drag boat that was bad ass. Does anyone remember that boat? Thanks.
Man, I would purely love to go cruising around on an airboat. Probably not one like these beasts, but something I could out in and explore. I saw one once on a tv show when I was wee lad and thought they were the coolest machines known to mankind.
Thinking about doing my own airboat build .. I see lots of shells with the cages ,but no motors for cheap. Maybe find a good engine at the salvage yard .. my buddy has a few mercury marine inboard engines that may work , he’s had them on his fountain race boat. May be too big for an airboat lol
I remember fondly as a young lad of around 9-10 yrs old going on an airboat ride in the Florida Everglades with my Mom - maybe 1958 or so. We both loved it even though it was very loud! I got a kick out of how fast it accelerated once it went from pure water onto wet reeds. Great fun!
We don't have these Downunder, could someone please explain the hand controls for me? Cheers 🍻. Those drivers sittin up high must feel super exposed. All the HP behind ya head. Epic.
The big lever is connected to the 2 rear 'air rudders' to direct the air flow to steer. Some guys use a hand throttle while others use a conventional gas pedal mounted to the deck. There are no brakes btw............😊
With the stick positioned on the right, pulling back you steer to the right, pushing forward, the boat steers left. These are race boats, so, as Todd mentioned, throttle can be foot or stick mounted. Most non-race boats have foot throttle, because the captain might be doing other activities, such as gigging for frogs. Some old timers actually had foot steering. I tried it, but, didn't care for the control.
Question for someone with knowledge of these. When they let off, there is a stream of water that shoots up behind the boat. Is this a brake of some sort?
Why are the props on these so different to aircraft props? Most planes have 2 or 3 bladed props, these boats have many more - is it because of the relatively low speeds?
Your comment is a dead giveaway, that you've never riden on a blow boat. These boats will make slobber run into your ear in less than a hundred feet, from a dead stop!

100 miles per hour in a 15 foot boat that can’t weigh more than 1,500 pounds… hell no. You couldn’t pay me to do this. That’s a fucking death wish. I don’t even know why they bother wearing helmets and life jackets. You’re not going to survive when it flips over either way.
That’s got to one of the nicest ways to work on an engine. It’s on a stand already.
V6?
Awesome video! Grew up on the Withalacoochee river, sure miss it all.
Fast loud dangerous in cutoffs and a ball cap....
Ain't nothin but a good time goin on there !!!!!
best part can swap cousins YewwHawww!!!!
They're frikken awesome, need some up here, but for ice and cold on snow, can't believe I'm jealous of folks going nowhere that fast, fun!
I wanna give credit to the camera man/woman. Great footage and quality! Love the videos.
Gear driven prop?
I wanna see TurboProps ! Talk about Git from the Hit ! Spun up tighter than a tweaker, THEN rotate the prop blades !
Very very cool . Why did I not know ?... This must be Florida . :)
🐝🏁 This looks like a great day of racing fun in sun 🌞, Video 👍
Awsome content/ video,
Loved the "Everglades" TV show as a kid !!
This locks the love in Carbonite !!!
Such machines of beauty.
We got nothing like this in Canada.
Well we do have jet boats so we got something.

It’s nuts how most go no helmets or shoes of some kind. Get it!!
Sometimes, usually when I’m poopin, the algorithm brings us some UA-cam gold!
TMI
Sick content! Love the in depth look into everything🙌🙌
This is wild. I love America just put a v8 in it. Hell yeah brother. Pure freedoms I love it

3:07 … heating up the nitrous tank with a small propane torch…. nice.👍
I'm from saint cloud just found your channel they used to have the races at christolm Park.
Bad ass boats!
Are the tracks stocked with mud bugs?
Racing, eating, drinking.
That's how our country grows.
Great video
I really needed that. Thank you back

Well done 👍🏼
Unfortunately don't have lakes like that where I am, but man I would be into it.
The blades!!!!!!! 💯

I didn't see the Bud Light boat?
They sound SO good..:)

They are in use in NT. Used for buffalo herding and hunting.
Not for shooting crocodiles. Nope. Never happened

Brake!
I came to ask the same. I knew about airboats....Swamp People, but had no idea this was a thing.
Looks fun😊
True race machine no reverse no rearview mirror
We're Americans! We'll drag race anything with an engine!
Except a ford. They can't run long enough to actually race
Was this this weekend? Damn I missed it!
That was fun. Gonna go watch some more. Do those things have a reverse?
Alot of chevys .. some Cessna engines too lol
Only boats with header extensions was hi-horsepower... Others are leaving h.p. on the table .
Look like they can handle a full 2 inches of wave chop.
The bigger boats, like the one at 5:40, how fast are they capable of?
100mph+
What are those motors, flat 6?
Loại này chạy trong điều kiện trời êm gió thôi. Thử gió mạnh lên thì thấy cảnh!
IM already hooked bc I didn't see NOTHING but BBC's😊 ( wonder why no baby-girl LS's? )
So you didn’t see any Lycoming or Continental engines
@@theairstig9164 not until I watched more than the trailer
When you live near a swamp and have nothing better to do
Dam yall getting up there in subscribers. I’m on my way lol
Why the vertical spray of water at or near end of run? Break?
The engine slows and makes a vacuum behind the transom. The spray is not longer directed down
@@theairstig9164no
I noticed some engines are v8's and some are flat 6's. What are the flat 6's?
Aircraft engines.
Why are the props on these so different to aircraft props? Most planes have 2 or 3 bladed props, these boats have many more - is it because of the relatively low speeds?
3-4x the power of a plane
Look like a pretty short track.
R there brakes?
Hahaha lol
Yes, called a Cyprus stump
If you can call it that.
The brake is what's shootin' water up in the air, but it won't leave skid marks...lol
They call them anchors
@@devinthomas4866
And muck or sand bars...lol
4:43
They also drift ?!?!
Let it rip ,,, Cleetus
Air boat has to be the most inefficient way to move a boat. 1500hp with a propeller in the water, will get you almost twice the speed!.
But if you add 2 SRB’s 🔥🔥😜
Running a water prop in swamps doesn't work too well.
Your comment is a dead giveaway, that you've never riden on a blow boat.
These boats will make slobber run into your ear in less than a hundred feet, from a dead stop!
Airboat can run in 1/4 inch of water
Obviously you’ve never ridden on an airboat. First time you do,that’ll be the only way you’ll ever want to travel on water again
Como hago para comprar una de esa
Wow ! 😂😂😂
Glad to not see many water wonder motors…..
Por favor!
Quero construir um para salvamentos aqui no Sul do Brasil.
Santa Catarina e Rio Grande do Sul.
Que possa levar 8 pessoas .
Ficarei agrsdecido se puderem mandar informações!!
Wouldn't it be better not to wear a seat belt? That way, if your boat flipped upside down you wouldn't be trapped.
i want a turboprop.
Masuk
Afraid of the alligators? or what😁

Quanto custa
Quiero uno asi quien me lo vende
I surprised they don't tip over with the weight so high.
If y’all gonna put those big ass motors in dem airboats, y’all might wanna tink about puttin a wing on the front end of y’all boats to keep it down.

So obviously the Big Power Boats are V8's we need a Coyote 🐺 Powered Boat ASAP ..... That would be Madness 💯🤙
You can't call a tow truck so fords arnt allowed.
Automatic thumbs-down to any video interrupted by a commercial.
Thank you!😘
Not much concern for safety in this group
They got helmets on
A couple do, most don't even have helmets on
Imost boring motor sport ever
Thank you!
