Thank you for all of the information about this chassis. I have always fancied a Thunder Shot but they can be quite a lot of money over here. But after watching this and learning about the issues with the chassis I think I can live without one.
Hi , the stainless hinge pins you talk of in this video… do they only work with the a5 part, or can you use the rest of the pins to replace the equivalent on the rear etc? Great information, really appreciate you sharing this.. great cars too.. thank you 🚗😎
got a spare new in box Terra Scorcher, and got a clear Thunder Dragon body set coming, that white paint, looks the best, hoping I can sort out the monoshock thing, it may end up being a dual shock Thunder Dragon
Just stumbled over your video... how come you guys need new tires? Does that have something to do with the different climate in Australia? I still have my original tires from the 80s/90s and besides missing profile (from driving; I practically have slicks now) the tires are still in a proper perfect condition (I kept them in a box in the attic with huge temperature changes between winter and summer - so not even any special treatment). And this is true for all tires I have - the Bigwig as well as some of the Schumacher stuff... (P.S.: writing from Austria/Europe)
How interchangeable are the body shells mate? I've got a Fire Dragon and love the retro look but wouldn't mind getting a shell for the Scorcher or Thunder Shot just to change up the look.
@@huwtindall7096 should be easy to get the parts trees now as Tamiya have done recent re releases. From memory no redundant pieces on parts trees, they are unique to the kit
You could look at making mounts, but yes the specific parts for mounting bodies are unique to each kit. I think the three that are similar are the fire dragon, Thunder shot and thunder dragon. The terra Scorcher has an additional parts tree for mounting the body & wing.
@@RCACTIONAUSTRALIA It's about finding the car more than what version. Not that many around on eBay UK. I picked up the A parts tree this morning and a chassis. I will keep them until I get a car as you say. Will try to get a mint one and a driver one.
RCKicks I look forward to seeing what you end up with. Personally I think the Terra Scorcher & Thunder shot are the pick. The Terra has better suspension set up and front and rear sway bars. Although some Terra specific parts are non existent.
sorry before u drill u can try and put the screw in and out of the hole first like screw it in a little way when it bites and goes hard just take it back out then do it again then a little bit more takes long time but no cracks in the plastic and do not cross thread it
its like the every tamiya but i like to drill the holes out a bit more before putting the screws in helps a lot have u done this just 1 mn or 1 1/2 mm thats all the screws still hold very well u dont get that spitting and dont over do it by using a drill use a screw driver if it stops then u do straight away if its the screw like with the pin setup use a file take a bit off it before u put it in
Love the info and esp the heads up, very good for myself as a hobbyist whose never had a Thundershot based chassis. Good day.

Yes they are becoming easier to find and prices aren’t as high in Aus. Like every older car they have some issues. But easy fixed 😎👍🏻🇦🇺
Really helpful facts in regards to components that could have issues. Thank you Adam.
Thank you 😊 I’ve built a lot of these and have many hours experience in fixing them.
Oh, egress wheels look great on that Thunder shot.
Thank you 😊

From memory they work with or without the A5 part 👍🏻

I don’t mind the moon as a runner actually

Not sure, tyres just crack over time from use or sitting on a shelf
Good stuff bro. Big like👊👍💯

Thank you 😊
Great guide, cheers 👍👍

Nice One Mate, I'm a fellow Aussie and New Subscriber.

Where in Aus ?
Nice one mate, another great informative video as always ;o))))
Thank you 😊
Your welcome mate ;o))))

Body mounts do differ between the models
@@RCACTIONAUSTRALIA ah right would that mean new parts or are there redundant parts on the main sprues? Orni guess I could do some DIY mounts.

@@RCACTIONAUSTRALIA amazing thanks mate! Will check out some after market shells. Think I saw some for around 30 AUD which isn't too bad.
Keep going, I enjoy the vids!
Nothing on Your Videos mate, I appreciate the Support. Thank you
Nice one, I'm looking to add a Thunder Shot car and I've never had one.
Thank you😎. I think that are a nice car! I have Afew!. Which model are you thinking? I’m currently building A T shot with wing and gold wheels 😎

Self tappers don't go well in this plastic unless you heat the plastic first or tap a thread beforehand
Yeah you can do that or just me mindful to not over tighten
what if the southern hemisphere, was actually the northern hemisphere?
The stupid reason probably was for the electronics needed to get cool air maybe.
Apparently weight saving!
