    Hi Amy. Don't push yourself too hard. You're health gets priority. As far as the people complaining about more art..
    That is what patreon is for. They can't expect it all for free on youtube and while I understand not everyone can afford to join, that's no reason to expect you all to keep everything free on YT when this is how you are earning your income. If you end up just coming on to chat while you are healing, we'll be here to watch and support you. 🙂

      I second this! I personally come for the chat - to see what has been going on in your art world. Like a little art friend having coffee. I like the stream of consciousness visiting about art supplies, techniques, news and life … if I want a tutorial I’ll go to the patreon or find past videos that you’ve done. Amy - it might help to rate what you are doing to know which things really are a heck ya in your world

    It's no wonder you are filling tired and overwhelmed by it all. The lack of sleep in itself can really contribute to that feeling. I personally think that filming your progress with your next piece will make great content. If it takes many hours, sped of footage broken up into segments maybe: Or even some ASMR or music instead of voice-over? Not being a content creator myself, I really have no idea what is the easiest to film. No matter what you do, make sure it's best for you. I know that feeling of needing to get as much done as possible. Even though I am retired, that prepping prior to surgery got me feeling stressed and a bit overwhelmed - meal planning, making sure all my meds were arranged, setting up all the post-surgery appointments and coordinating with my husband's calendar because he was my chauffer for 6-weeks. I also had to change Drs for a medical condition I have which while isn't life threatening, makes a huge impact on my quality of life . All this and I didn't even have to worry about a job! Wow! Well, it sounds like you are taking the right steps in determining what your priorities are, and finding what you can do and what you can let go of. The decision making is difficult but hopefully once you get to the other side of that, you will find a sense of relief. You know, you can take a UA-cam break as well. Stay as well as you can, shoulder buddy!

      Thank yo, Tracie! I know you understand. I know it's awful, and probably stupid, but a big part of me wants to just say no to the surgery and try to keep going with a limited use of my arm. I know it's stupid. And yet I am seriously considering it, because I just don't know how I would get through the recovery after without drowning, if that makes sense? I just don't see a way forward right now, but I know, like you said, a large part of that is lack of sleep. Thank you for being there for me and being understanding! We haven't talked much lately, I know you have been busy with Fungurary. (Did I spell that right?) IO hope you are having fun and your shoulder continues to heal!

    Hi Amy. I had a reverse shoulder replacement in may, 2023. Reverse because 2 of my rotator cuffs were shot, and the joint was really bad. The pain was horrific before the surgery, as was my range of motion. PT after surgery is so important and continuing the exercises at home. Now i have no pain. Range of motion is still improving but is better than was. All that to say, please don't even consider not having the surgery.
    You have so many loyal followers, we will never leave you. I have learned so much from you. You are so real on your channel that it seems like we are old friends, one sided I know! Your health is so important, once you are able to get some sleep, plus post surgery, I pray things will seem much more managble again. You have an awesome channel. That picture with the pastels is amazing. I hope that dream continues and you get everything in this spring to apply. What an achievement when you are accepted in. And I can't help but believe you will be.
    Keep enjoying those little pleasures of life also, ...your furbabies, just another part of your family!
    Prayers, Amy

    Amy, as I have continued to watch your video I feel a bit concerned about your burn out.I have also watched Cinnamon Cooney the Art Sherpa for years. I have special affection for her as her art videos were the very first ones I had ever watched. She taught me acrylic painting that blossomed into so much more in my life,anyway, my point is just recently she was hospitalized for a breakdown. She has gone public with her experience. You may want to watch 2 of her recent videos one is, My Kid Saved My Life.The other is the one before that, Stunthands ( her husband) Urgent Message. Self care is more important than ever in the times we are living. Life is more stressful than ever. Please take care of yourself Amy. You are a wonderful person and a talented awesome artist.😊

    Hello, my dear, don't fret about not making enough art. Creating videos for UA-cam IS art. I enjoy your videos; I pick up a few tips, but I watch because I like you and I like to connecting with other artists. I hope you are healing well; I had shoulder surgery and was in a sling for 7 weeks so I understand the challenge. When You get better we will be here. God bless you.

    Hi Amy, I like the Idea of scheduling 30 minutes of art a day. I have discovered for myself that if I don’t do art because I’m too busy, I still don’t get everything done and feel miserable about it, if I do art, my whole day is happier whether I get everything done or not. Creating art makes me happy 😊 having a schedule is important,like you said. It really helps. I hope your new plan works out for you 🥰

    It was interesting to hear about your routine. What I don't understand is why you have to explain yourself. I think you let negative comments get to you too much. You are human. You have other responsibilities as well as health issues. You were upfront about it from the beginning. Ignore the haters and take care of yourself and family.

    • @winterwoodsstudio
      @winterwoodsstudio  10 місяців тому

      I don't think I so much let it get to me, as I feel like It's a damaging myth out there that "real" artists create everyday, you know? I guess i wanted to bring attention to the fact that that isn't what makes someone a real artist. I also don't necessarily think the comment was meant to be negative. I don't think she meant it that way. I didn't mean for it to sound like i thought it was negative. I think I was just tired this week and maybe it came out that way? But I do obviously have trouble with the negative comments, I've been what a lot of people would call a "people pleaser" most of my life and I just started to realize how toxic that was recently and try to work on it. Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave a comment! I appreciate it!

    Love your idea of doing 1/2 hour on a piece you enjoy doing. I feel motivated by that idea - lately I have been spending more time preparing for a volunteer project I do twice a week followed by 2 days of cleaning up and resetting after the project - and there is little time left for my own art. That said - I did mange to get 1 commission started, 1 acrylic on paper piece (to not WASTE the paint from the volunteer project leftovers). It’s hard to manage it all - proud of you for setting an intention to put a little art in your day before all of the crazy takes over :). I’m looking forward to the end of the volunteer commitment so that I have my own time back - next year - I am contemplating not committing to 2 different groups - only because of the requirement to set up and reset my studio back to my own space twice a week. I too have an auto immune disease that flares up and causes me to be exhausted frequently … it’s always the art that suffers when the flare happens.

      I hear you so much! It IS always the art that suffers when a flare happens! You are so right! I need to figure out a way to make things work, and a lot lie you, I think maybe i need to commit to less projects! Thank you for sharing a little of what you are going through! It helps to know someone out there understands! Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave a comment!

    Awww Amy, I get it about chronic illness and doing too much, totally understand. I find using a tiny watercolor sketchbook (3x5) with water soluble media and a water brush helps- I can accomplish an entire page in 30 minutes.

    I was contemplating starting to do a little filming and maybe start my channel instead of just watching. After watching this I’m positive I won’t. I hope you find some balance soon Amy and feel better. I also have an autoimmune disease and know how bad a flair up is.

    • @winterwoodsstudio
      @winterwoodsstudio  10 місяців тому +1

      Oh no! I don't want you to feel that way! And it isn't just UA-cam. I think I felt too much pressure to do too much too fast, to replace the income I used to make. So I took on You tube, but also the sponsored videos that have to be completed at a set deadline, and then the patreon with the 4 tiers, and the social groups that go with it, and it ended up being more than I could handle I think. In fact, I'm thinking I might have to cut back somewhere, and have been thinking about it all this weekend. I think doing just you tube would have been okay, (Although there is the pressure to be consistent all the time, which can be really stressful if you have other stuff going on). And I have had so many benefits with youtube. it has helped me grow so much. It was more all the other stuff piled on top that made things hard. Anyway, if youtube is your dream, I hope i didn't kill it!

    I just started watching your channel and love your pastel painting💕 I don’t know if you are aware, but Dakota Art Pastels has a quarterly and year end “competition “ for a variety of pastel artists you might want to consider. Also, on Jackson’s there is a PDF of the Sennelier oil pastel color chart with pigment info. Hope your surgery goes well and things settle a bit for you.😘

    Just release the pressure by taking the recovery time off. Everyone will understand. You don't have to make yourself sick to maintain the level of what you normally do. Just let it go until you are better and you may even get to enjoy one arm art during c the break😂❤

    Your health and family have to come first. I love your channel and always look forward to new videos, BUT I would never want you to be so overwhelmed/overworked with making content ahead of time, that it affects your health and/or your family. I will be patiently waiting when you're able to get back at it after you've recovered. And I just love your soft pastel painting. It's beautiful. My goal is also to one day be accepted, but alas - I need much more practice with soft pastels lol. Take care of yourself Amy! Thanks for your honesty and just keep being you. Remember - this is YOUR channel. You do you. :)

    Thank you for your video. Get some rest. I’ve used Sennelier oil pastels for 8 years. Sennelier is a fairly safe bet. Every stick has a lightfast rating along with exact pure pigment lists. The iridescent colors are less lightfast as are the Transparent colors but I’ve never had any fading.

    Its the same assumption when i ran my art and craft store for many years, everyone assumes you can sit and be creative all the time, in fact the only creativity you do is samples to promote products and workshops, very little time to make what you want to make. And the rest of the time is marketing, accounting, promotion, running the store etc.

    Be careful you don’t over work yourself. Maybe only 2 videos a month or even one a month during your recovery..? After a month maybe you could just do a quick 5 minute un edited video here and there to give an update on your health. You are building a really solid base of loyal followers and they are the ones who will sustain your channel. Not that I’m a UA-cam creator… just my thoughts. 💜💜💜
